T-mobile service - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note5

T-mobile east GA. So I have had my service for under a month and these are the speeds I get. I have called and called. I have yet to be able to use fb, Web browsing or anything dealing get with the Internet. I barely get picture msg. I have tried 3 different s7 edges and 2 note 5. I have full signal and travel around 60 miles a day for work. I honestly want to close my account.

Something is definitely wrong. You must not be in one of t-mobiles areas. Which is weird because you have the volte icon, which usually means you've got the full lte service. I think it may just be best for you to drop t-mo altogether

My wife is acasually a CSR for T-Mobile. I'll ask her what she would recommend you do account wise when she gets in from work.

This is by far the worst service I have ever had. And I hope the t-mobile rep that made my girlfriend cry in store.get fired. By all accounts I will never step foot in a t-mobile store again

Depending on what he did to your girlfriend I would go back to the T-Mobile store and confront him and record it ... or I would call customer service and talk to someone about your experience and it can result into the employee termination...

Your WiFi seems to be connected in the picture

The WiFi was on in the picture to upload the photo to here lol. All in all I finally got tmobile to respond to me by going to social media. T force called me back and fixed the issue. I am currently with Verizon now.

TMobile is killing me. The have me stuck in a contract that i did not agree to for the next two years. I have asked for a transcript of the upgrade/renewal call, they declined and have told me to drop it and not contact them again regarding the issue - I cancel i get two ETF's!!
Well i would hate the Hit on my credit, but will never pay them based on the principle of the matter.
My question involves unlocking the phone and using it on one of the pay as you go providers: Their coverage in my area is not great, but oh well.
I see online sites where i text to their number and they send back a code that unlocks the phone...anyone tried? any good?
What about the SIM card? Any info on how that will work? places to but etc..
any help whatsover? I've always just dealt with AT&T and Tmobile, have no experience unlocking or getting around anything like that.
G2x only works with GSM networks and 3g/4g only works with Tmobile network.
If you want to use your g2x with other carrier, you will still end up with networks who are resellers of either at&t and tmobile.

I don't think this kind of stuff shows on your credit report anyway.
How far up the command chain did you press the issue with T-Mobile? You had to have signed and agreed to something when you set up your account with them. That signed contract is all that matters.

That's the issue. Their over the phone system is flawed. The process is to speak with a REP then they transfer you to an automated system, which is the signing if you will. The auto system ststes your phone # and that you are acknowledging entering into a contract - NO DETAILS of the contract.
I am at the mercy of the communication between me and the REP and the accuracy of their input into whatever system they use.
I went Customer Service -Loyalty -Contract review. So three levels up the chain and was told in the last correspondence they will not investigate any further, Do not email again - Case closed.

That would be a nice savings...is it like a reload system. What interested me about Virgin was they had a $25 plan. I think it's $35 now, not sure if if the cheaper is available. Anyway, only had a few minutes but UTT and data. The trick was to download some program (forget teh name) and teh calls go through the data so no minutes are used!
Also, Metro PCS seems to be the major player around here.

Guys, If i get the Simple Mobile Unlimited Talk, Text & Web for $40 3G Speed. Will the 3G work on T-Mobile G2X?
2nd Question:
If i get the Simple Mobile Unlimited Talk, Text & Web for $50 4G Speed. Will the 4G work on T-Mobile G2x?
Trying to verify before i purchase the phone. The reason i am trying to find out is because on SimpleMobile website, LG G2x listed is only compatible w/ 3G not 4G, while T-Mobile G2x says clearly it is a 4G phone.
Someone can please shed some light? I called the tech support they didn't know the answer.. Wierd.

+1 SM works fine. Had a data tower issues last week. But the cost is worth it.
They just rolled out a $40.00 monthly everything unlimited. Data is only 3G on that one though. And you cannot tether with them. SO that kind of sucks.

do you recommend at&t

sup peeps ive been with sprint for years and its time for a change and im looking for something reasonable but at the same time something reliable...my main gripe with sprint was the data speed my price was affordable ect.... but the data eventually got tiresome so therefore i my eyes are on the one x but i dont wanna jump ship if at&t is not for me and i live in vegas by the way!! just looking for some feed back as far as service customer service ect.... make known if you live in vegad also or even cali or arizona thank you!!
Never had a problem. Live in OC, frequently hit San Diego, sometimes LA, and a few times a year I do Vegas.

I jumped ship for the same reasons. Sprint was cheap but service/speeds in Hawaii suck.. So I bit the bullet and for about $20 more a month I get way better service/data speeds. All depends on your area I guess.

AT&T is known to have the WORST customer service out of all of the carriers...so...yeah....
Personally I would choose ANYTHING but AT&T....the only reason why I am sticking is because my family can't be bothered to move to a different carrier and I'd rather pay my portion of the family plan and deal with at&ts ****...
Just a heads up...
What trips me out about the bad rep that various carriers get regarding customer service is that regardless of which I've tried I've never had the same experience. I count myself lucky i guess (I've had sprint, Verizon, T Mobile and AT&T), as I typically set things up and forget it until upgrade time so my exposure to their customer service reps it's very limited.
That said I bought my one x just before a 10 day trip to Vegas with a 2 day stint in Williams AZ at the end of May. Couldn't have been happier with the service throughout my stay there. Service and speed was fine for me (stayed at the venetian but drove around North LV, Warm Springs and Henderson).

Never had a problem. I live in the OC as well. In the heights near the 60 freeway/beach blvd. Always have service, even LTE. Never once lost LTE coverage since i've had the HOX. Been to Hollywood, as far as San Diego, Huntington beach. The coverage really is great. I don't know why people talk so much crap on AT&T. My speeds are 12-20 Mbps consistently.
EDIT: the customer service at every store i've ever been to (roughly 5) as well as over the phone has always been great. I brought in my first HOX because the wifi broke from me flashing it. 10 days past my 30 day return. Took it no questions asked, replaced it free, not a refurb.

There's a secret for AT&T's customer service. "The customer rules" yes, its a motto AT&T uses but seldom follows unless, you do these basic things.
1. Be calm don't raise your voice. AT&T in store reps and cust care reps notate the account. They do sometimes leave behavior attitude in them as well. Good account notations on serious situations where you should be pi**ed and you're calm go farther with the cust care.
2. When you call customer care, talk to them normally. Explain your situation confusing etc they'll normally listen and do their best. Some one who has an attitude doesn't get far with customer care. 9 out of 10 are pretty polite and happy. Especially if get the Texas girls they're such a delight. Some of the southern states people are too. If you get the bay area folk well good luck..
3. This is the most important one. It deals with in store. And to understand it you have to remember AT&T used to be for a time the only land line service in the USA. That mentality remains with AT&T. So, don't ever mention another service provider or switching to it-the reps and manager will literally give you peace sign. Oh, AT&T reps are mostly bored. If you're entertaining witty funny you can go a lot farther.
I have had AT&T since 2002 they were Cingular who remembers them? The customer service went up and got to be pretty good after AT&T started with the iPhone. They attempted to act like Apple stores. Kind of worked. But they def got better.
My post is long winded but its true. AT&T can be frustrating at times. If you call about an issue they sit there on the phone to trouble shoot. Have a reception problem they'll have techs check the tower and send an alpha tag to your SIM card (improves reception by prioritizing the cell tower to rate your imei first in line) the alpha last for a week tho. AT&T also has service centers in most major cities. They'll replace. Fix. Repair a phone under the warranty. I've been there twice in my life. It looks like a store but they fix it instead. Also on the phone with customer care and if you ask to speak with a floor supervisor that person normally will go above and beyond.

What is the best radio for a frustrated ATT CUSTOMER

I have try the original that came with the phone. Ucle2. Uclf6. And none seem to work in the basement i guess is not equipment or software it must be coverage.

att might just have bad reception in your basement. if it's a problem for you get a microcell http://www.att.com/standalone/3gmicrocell/. some times if you call and complain about reception in your home they will discount the cost of one.
I had to buy my micro cell. It works dam good. Couldn't get signal where I lived it gave me 5 full bars. If you leave att or don't have an account it wont work. If your looking for one I'm selling mine. Went prepaid and don't have att account. Pm me for details

That microcell looks very promising, my mom gets very poor service in her home, and though I couldn't find what it costs, she said she would drop her home phone if she got better home coverage, so it should negate whatever it does cost.

One thing to keep in mind with repeaters/cell boosters though is that your signal will only be as good as what the booster is getting despite what your phone shows. For example if your Booster has a -95 dBm signal at the roof then even if your phone shows -68 dBm while at the other end you are still just getting the -95dBm so your 5 bars is just your signal to the booster not the actual cell network
MicroCell
I was really lucky. I got a letter from AT&T to come on down and pick one up, all I had to do was keep my cell contact for 12 months, I had just signed a new one for 2 years anyways.
Went from 1-2 bars to 4-5 on my SR and my wifes Apple 3gs.
IF you can get one do. But keep in mind that the way it works is that you have to set it up with and get a GPS signal. Then it will use your internet connect to make and receive calls while your phone is on the MicroCell. I have never really seen any issues either with my call performance or internet speeds while on the phone.

[Q] Question regarding AT&T and Straight Talk..

So today I went in and set up a plan with AT&T on their mobile 2GB share plan(not prepaid). Got a sim and now awaiting my n5. I have been reading on here that Straight talk has a plan for $45 a month which includes LTE. So my question is, Will I get the same coverage, Same speeds on Straight talk that I would get from AT&T? If this is the case, I feel like its a no brainer to get straight talk instead. I am usually on wifi at work and at home, so I only need 2gbs.
Also, How would I go about setting up service on straight talk?

I went from ATT to ST. I get identical cell coverage (in fact, it even says AT&T as the carrier)
I notice the internet is slower - it looks like they throttle it by default. . Also once you hit 2.5gb of internet they will significantly throttle it.
However I am overall happy... Paying less than 50% and like you I am usually on WiFi.
You just order the sim from their website and put it in the phone.

well there was a whole thread on how none of peoples mms messages were not sending. mine didn't either. even though it clearly showed sent on my phone. even text sometimes failed. could it have been teething issues because of LTE just launching maybe. could have been my note 3 when I had it maybe. plus I don't want to be throttled and I want to use my data however I want to use it. plus when you send via text or mms your basically going through a middle man first when on a MVNO and sometimes things can get lost in transition. maybe it was AT&T? I I will never know. but I rather pay the extra 13 bucks its worth it to me rather then be aggravated.

or theres AIO which AT&T owns. but are throttled to 8-12 mb down on LTE.
Would I be better off doing Aio pro plan for $70/month or stick with AT&T mobile share w/2gb for $105 after taxes... Forget price, I'm more concerned about speeds and coverage for LTE.
AT&T has excellent coverage in my area and I don't travel much. Aio pro comes with 7Gb as we'll.....

then you should get an offline GPS app
Google Maps is pseduo-offline (you can precache certain areas, but they expire after 30 days and you need to load them again. and you need to load them in advance)
HERE maps is free and decent (missing functionality like TTS and lane assist/highway signs).
There are truck-specific GPS apps as well (more features/routing/planning for truck drivers). paid $ of course

That's what I was after is the truckers paid GPS. I'd just like to know if the coverage is adequate. The trucking apps are far more accurate then the McNally and the other . im hoping T-Mobile is good enough because of their unlimited data. Att and Verizon are a little pricey in that area.
No I wouldn't recommend it. When I went to North Carolina a couple years ago I had to rely on wifi a lot.
I did use some downloaded GPS apps and maps and I had no problem with navigation.

Look at coverage maps and your most likely routes.

Did you read the reply above yours? I was riding all around the mountains in North Carolina and didn't really have service at all. And that's on the east coast, ID guess out west it's way worse.

I'm an RF Field Engineer. I travel both professionally and leisurely; on and off road.
I have used (and still use 3), all 4 major carriers and can honestly say that T-Mobile’s coverage has significantly grown, and offers very fast data speed. If you're traveling on a major Interstate you should be fine. In the mountains, surprisingly well too, BUT, there are exceptions based upon topography and population density; even mighty At&t and Verizon have dead spots where Sprint did have coverage.
I would honestly give TMobile a try, and if it doesn't work out, hey you tried.
The reason why I encourage you to try is because T-Mobile acquired a number of AT&T's 700-megahertz bands which offers a great amount of coverage.
Dont listen to anyone who knocks tmobiles service if they haven't used it in the past 12 months. The difference between 2 years ago & now is tremendous due to the 700mhz... And its continuing to grow.
If your using a stand alone GPS app then the only thing that will be mission critical on the road is calls & if T-Mo doesnt have coverage then the roaming afreements with AT&T will still have you covered (you get data as well, but its 200mb a month on current plans for domestic data roaming). This is of course assuming your using a modern T-Mo device, but since your posting in the LG G5 sub forum I imagine that you will have that part covered.
You'll be getting mix reply really, T-Mobile does good in public populated locations but suffers more in rural or not as populated place or just an area not properly attended to. If possible you can get a loaner phone from them to test the network out, the phone will be a cheap one but it's just to test areas for so signal
