hi all, i recently update my n5 to MM (coming from KK). i got 2 problem (software related)
MOB30J based rom (purity), last bootloader, franco kernel v85
1) after few minutes the device went in idle, the power button stop working for wake up (2 click open the camera app properly).
i need to use volumewake. After woke up, power button still won't work with 1 press (2 press always turn camera on).
holding the button doesn't work so power menu does not open.
after a while (few minutes) of usage the function turn working again,
after reboot, works right.
it is not a mechanical problem.
how can i fix this :\
2) got a problem with signal,i know it's modem related but:
with KK i had not this kind of problem: after a while my phone stop reciving signal (data signal, voice signal works well), and a esclamation point appears on the signal logo while 3g/H is still there.
i tried different modems, from my usual kk modem to the newest MM one., but the problem is still there
after a reboot turn working again
never ever had this kind of problem on KK,same place, same modem, always worked properly.
Everything works fine on a stock MM ROM?

I have not tried it yet, I was hoping there might be a known solution without wipe again.

Try turning it on ( press one of the on buttons for bluetooth ) then immediately reboot. After phone reboots if bluetooth is not on hit a bluetooth on button before doing anything else. This has worked for me twice now.
its cool. thanks for the help.just flashed a new rom .going to stick with it for now.

This just worked for me as well. I was unable to load bluetooth until I did this. Thanks.

Thank you!! After I updated to KJ6 my bluetooth would not work. This did the trick and I am paired again. Many many thanks!
Is kj6 a solid modem for service and battery life?

Thanks from me as well. This was giving me fits for several days.
I've tried the Bluetooth button reboot thing a couple of times. No dice. Also, have tried cleaning the caches and fixing permissions. No dice. Bluetooth and wi-fi will not work at the same time. After booting after both are turned off, I can turn either on no problem. However, if I turn one off and then try to turn on the other, no dice. I end up rebooting every time I want to use the other. If I'm using the Bluetooth, turn it off, then turn on wi-fi, wi-fi shows that it's connected. Even when I go into settings>Wireless Networks>Wi-Fi setting it shows connected. Yet if I open email for example it says there is no connection. I'm running Valhalla-Black edition. Valhalla Final comes with the kj6 modem, so I don't think that was changed. I don't recall the problem happening in Valhalla Final though. It has happened it every other rom I've tried. Any suggestions?
Edit: Got it working. Guess I misunderstood what was being said here. With both bluetooth and wifi turned of I rebooted. Turned bluetooth on. Rebooted. Now both work at the same time.
Not sure if anyone else has came across this problem with CM-10, but the past few days when i power my phone up, the phone will boot up fine, but with no network connection. The only way to get a connection is to reboot the phone. Also im still having the ear piece volume still acting wacky. I did update to latest nightly, and now the seems to start crackled, but as soon as i hit volume up or down it becomes fine. Before the volume seemed to always default all the way up even though the volume level indicator was all the way down. To fix that problem i figured out to raise volume all the way up, then down and it was fine for that call. Is their any where i can leave detailed issues to the developer to inform them (Chopsticks).
Thanks
That used to ALWAYS happen to me,
I used a couple different methods each time and they all worked for me maybe it can help you:
1-Flash a radio for your network (DONT forget Nandroid)
2- Reflash the ROM but dont wipe
3-Go settings > Mobile Networks > APN and check if something's changed or a different is selected
Those noises are probably because of a nightly rom, When i used Cm-10 I had them so I flashed something else and it helped.
Hey guys,
I have a really strange display issue with my Galaxy R.
I'm on CM10.1 nightly and already tried different nightlies with factory reset and wipe data/cache.
If the phone is not used for a while (sometimes even after 30 minutes), meaning it is on and screen is off, the display won't turn on anymore.
So I press the power button and the capacitive buttons light up, but the screen stays completely black.
Today I noticed that I can even use the touch screen and I could hear all sounds, I even managed to open the dialer and start typing blindly and it would make the dial sounds.
But whatever I try, the screen won't turn on.
Also, it seems when I'm connected to a charger and/or connected to wifi, this problem doesn't seem to occur.
Then I have no choice but to remove the battery, but then often I can't even start the phone.
Sometimes it takes some minutes, sometimes a really long time until I can start it again.
Usually the battery isn't drained, this only happened once.
This occurs after I dropped the phone twice, so it might be related to that.
(Though before I've also dropped it and this never happened.)
Any ideas?
flash stock ics and see if problem persists.
once i flashed a custom rom and faced this issue, reverted to stock and now my device is running with zero issues.

I tried to find the stock rom online, but all links seem to be down.
Do you know where I can get it?

You need to register and then download from here.
Thanks for that, I installed newest stock rom.
Could boot fine, set up the phone, put it to the side.
One hour later I checked it - same problem again.
Capacitive buttons flaring up, screen not.

Then you should visit SSC. They can only repair your device.
Having been on the same version of CM Marshmallow and making no changes to my phone's software/hardware for a few weeks (except for regularly updating apps), my hardware buttons have all of a sudden stopped working. (I have no way to change volume or turn the screen on/off with the hardware buttons)
They also do not work in TWRP. Having factory reset the phone (using the latest official factory reset .tar.gz) , they don't work on stock android 6.01 and updating to the latest CM with open gapps they are still broken.
They do however ALWAYS work to hold down power and volume down for fastboot (even when not working for volume/screen on) and always work fine whilst in fastboot (for scrolling the menu and selecting options, but do not recovery, eg. TWRP)
Any ideas on what may be causing this much appreciated thanks :good:
TLDR: Hardware buttons only work for turning phone on when powered off, rebooting into fastboot, and for using fastboot (so its unlikely that this is a hardware issue, but not impossible). They don't work with any AOSP/CM/TWRP software, and I don't know why...
EDIT: Although not really a work around, I can at least turn off the screen using Cyanogenmod's double tap status bar, and turn on the screen with this app for the light sensor: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wolandsoft.wtn Still no idea how to control the volume though, except for toggling ''do not disturb``
EDIT 2: No fix booting into safemode. Also, the USB connection for charging/data transfer temporarily broke until I rebooted the phone, and I suspect that this may be related

Cheers, I have cleaned with an air can and a glasses cleaning cloth on all surfaces accessible for following a replace your battery tutorial and this has so far fixed all issues that I was having.
I was having some problems with adaptative battery turning on by itself so i talk with the support and they give me a trick that actually fixed the problem. They said that it can fix also another problems so i will explain here, in the worst case is just a waste of time.
Turn the phone off and connect to the charger.
Enter recovery:
-Hold power + Vol Up until the phone turn on and then release power but not volume.
-You will see and ****ed up android. Hold power and press vol up for 3 seconds and release volume up.
With this you will be in the recovery. With the vol keys go to "Perform a Graphic Test" and press power to execute. It is kinda weird but it doesn't perform a graphic test, it just reinstall a update or something
So if you are experiencing some weird behavior you can try this and see if it solve it.
I've done it, but the Wifi issue comes back aber 1-2 days
or immediatelly if you perform some FlyMode ENABLE/DISABLE
I made a video of the mobile after the refrresh and after the issue comes back
Paired with 2 other smartphones
You can notice when the issue is "active" the mobile just see 1-3 WiFis SSID (normally they're 10 or more)
And it even reports a wrong signal strenght
Plus it fails to connect to the Paired Wifi several times (eventaully always)
Resetting the Android networking system doen not work
Usually a soft clean helps (reboot with VolUP + power and wait for AndroidONE screen to appear twice (I guess they're actually 2 consecuve reboots)
Lol Support sold you a lemon. The "graphics test" is literally just playing the animations the recovery should when installing an update. It's not doing a damn thing. I think the reboot just helped you out.
I had the wifi issue and it worked for me. Now wifi connects after enable / disable flymode without rebooting the device.
thanks

They didn't sold my a lemon because i did it and it actually solve the problem. Before i tried everything, including reset, hard reset, deleting all the battery system app cache and data, disabling them, enabling them again, nothing worked and adaptative battery kept turning itself on. I had the problem for months. I asked the guy how permorming a graphic test is related to some bug in adaptative battery and he said he doesn't know and Ingenineer team said that to him, it seems that it is not only a graphic test, maybe Nokia touch something there. The thing is it solved my problem, that is why i shared it here just in case.

I think you should wait just 1-2 days before saying it. I hope it really worked cause I have the same wifi issue.

This morning, after the night in flightmode, wifi doesn't connect without a reboot. But now, just the same as yesterday, i can switch flightmode on / off and wifi connects normally. So maybe it depends on the time the flightmode is enabled?

I dont know mate..I usually switch to airplane mode during the night when I go to sleep cause I dont want to loose battery during the night..we can try not to activate it but I hope we will have a fix in January.
I experienced this problem after installing the January Security Patch on my Nokia 7 Plus. My router is a Huawei and my network SSID is hidden. I tried a few things:
* Reset network settings
* Restarted in Safe Mode - added network and could connect (note, it's a hidden network so I selected that option in Advanced Settings)
* Rebooted into normal operation, would not connect
* Modified my router's settings so the network was no longer hiding its SSID.........phone connected!! Seems stable so far.
Can anyone confirm any similarities with the above and if the steps work for you?
I have two Nokia 7+ phones, one works fine on Wifi the other refused to connect.
I did the graphics test as above and it now connects without any issues.
I will wait and see how long this 'fix' lasts for.
Fingers crossed.
I tried to enter that special mode (recovery) but it just boots into the system! I have had many phones and got into their recoveries quite easily. However seems like I misunderstood the instructions here? Can someone explain me more in detail how to perform the graphic test?

adb reboot recovery
Or
When poweron/reboot hold PowerBtn+VolUp until you see "no command" with green Android logo
In both method is switch from "no command" to menu by pressing PowerBtn+VolUp

Eventually I did the "graphic test" which indeed performs just the animation as another user was saying, because WiFi issue has not improved.
What I was doing wrong when trying to access the recovery was simply not connecting the phone to a power source prior to pressing vol up and power.
Just picked a 7 plus a week back & loving the phone so far. Given it had 8.1 out of the box I went through the day 1 upgrades and had a few of these problems. Being a new phone, a factory reset post upgrade was no big deal (I keep everything backed up so it's rarely a big deal) and my wifi problems went away with it. I've found this with Android upgrades in the past. Hard for the Devs to treat every upgrade permutation given apps and time, but easy to test the clean slate, so more likely to be stable that way.
