Show Title in List instead of File Name - MX Player

Show Title in List instead of File Name. Can MX Player do this? My videos have imbeded Titles but MX Player is listing them with just file name.

I have replied to the same question in simple question answers thread.
Number of files with proper title is very low. What's the issue in listing by name..?
Sent from my SM-G900H using Tapatalk

The issue is that i download a lot of videos from a website of news, conferences, reports and so on. It's a large amount of videos and they give the videos file names based on the content and date released.
They tag the videos with proper titles though. So, if there is no option to list by title i have to go through and rename 100+ videos. Or use the horrible stock player which does list them by title. Obviously though i would rather use MX Player.

For example:
File Name "news_03_13_15.mp4".
Title "Typhon in Japan-Relief Efforts"

So is there a way to show the title instead of file name or not?
Nvm, i see you stated in the other thread that you would inform the developer so i guess it is not an option. That is sad.
That is like not including an option for ID3 tag listing for MP3s because people fail to include them or enter them right. Some people like organization. I once spent hours fixing hundreds of ID3 tags so that my MP3 player would scroll the Artist/Album/Year/Genre. Why not include both options? Most MP3 players i have ever used allowed you to list by filename or ID3 tag for this same reason.

[Feature request] Video Play List

Hi,
I would like to request for a play list feature.
Problem context:
I have a whole list of video files (+50 videos and counting) stored within a folder for a certain topic.
But I only wish to play certain videos for certain sessions of my meeting with my friends - planning ahead. However, as they are not sorted according to their file names, currently it's very hard to jump here and there. I have to stop a video, search for another video, then continue the playback.
Or I may wish to play certain videos for my kids from within another folder or a combination of folders.
My wish:
To be able to create multiple video playlist for different purposes.
That I can select a video, choose "add to a play list", select which play list from the ones I've created or add to (i.e. create) a new playlist.
Thank you for your considerations.
Regards.
This feature request already exists in the feature requests list, under high priority #8.
This feature is still missing on the latest mx player, I could not create a plylist
A VERY needed and basic feature indeed!
The player sees the m3u file but does not play the contents.

[Feature Request] Watching ANIME!!! (MKV Ordered Chapters)

Ok guys, i hope that there's somone around here that will understand me somehow. I like to watch my anime series on my Nexus 5, but the problem is that MXplayer doesn't play the ending and the opening of them . Most of the times anime are packed with the OP and ED in to files apart to save memory, on my PC this isn't a problem (I use MPC-HC with KCP codec pack) but MXplayer doesn't support a "script" maybe and every episode has neither OP nor ED. Maybe i simply don't know how to set this up, is there someone who knows how to get this to work??

Most animation uses SSA subtitle and it is one of supported subtitle formats.
Did you check subtitle track button? It is speech balloon button on the top right corner of the screen.

Maybe he's referring to ordered chapter support where the OP and ED of all episodes of a series is in a separate file. VLC for android supports ordered chapters but is unwatchable because ones the OP/ED starts, only the audio will play. I dont think that MX player will support this feature because probably 1% of all mx player user wants to have this

Yes, this sounds like what he's referring to. Considering that MX Player doesn't yet have chapter support (afaik), this seems like it's a long ways away.
The point of removing the OP/ED from the individual episodes is to make more efficient use of storage space. Adding them in individually will require a significant amount of time invested in reencoding the episodes and thus not worth it.
@LunarisDream is probably right, in that he's asking about MKV ordered chapter support. Currently this isn't implemented yet!
It's already on the feature requests list as high priority #6.
@reimart660 it's definitely more than 1% that want this feature.

Hi, I'm using MX to watch animations too.
I don't think what @Enri1196 want is ordered chapter support.
Here is the scenario about OP/ED in this case.
An episode have Opening/Ending song and sometimes they were divided into 3 files.
EP01_OP.mkv / EP01.mkv / EP01_ED.mkv
MX can play next sequence file automatically like EP01.mkv, EP02.mkv, and etc.
But MX can't play OP and ED files unless manually selection.
So, what Enri1196 want should be playlist support which already in 8th item at high parity.
BTW, ordered chapter and playlist support both are in my wish list.
Thanks for all developers.
i would also love to have this feature as mx player is the perfect player for anime fans.......
recently vlc added chapter support but i cant watch it because of the lags on vlc.

If thats the case, that will be great! Even if they didn't implement that, I'll still use MX player for watching videos

Actually chapter support is already in my todo list like many other features.
Please be patient. It will be supported sooner or later

I think your explanation fits the description of ordered chapters where you have multiple MKVs in a folder and when you play it, it looks like its a single video because it plays in their right orders without interruption

But what if the file name contains additional "OP" or "ED"?
Took the example in my previous post.
In windows, File sequence will be EP01.mkv->EP01_ED.mkv->EP01_OP.mkv
But I wish to play by EP01_OP->EP01->EP01_ED.
I can't do that without a playlist support.
EDIT:
By using Google to search "Ordered Chapter" and knowing it's a special function in MKV spec.
Looks like I'm using a wrong scenario because MKV has ordered chapter support in spec which may confuse us.
Please let me change my scenario to EP01.mp4 / EP01_OP.mp4 / EP01_ED.mp4.
Now playlist is the key, right?
A playlist can support all media type but ordered chapter is for MKV only.

Sorry if I can't understand your point. Do you want to replicate ordered chapters function on an mp4 file by using playlist?
If that is what @ChungHung.Chen wants, it won't work without recoding the files. Because it's usually intro -> op -> episode -> ed -> preview, with intro, episode and the preview being encoded to one file, and op and ed to their own files. So you would have to splice the intro and the preview off the episode file. In that case, you might as well recode the whole episode into a single file.

Yes, I want to use a playlist to play video files according to my own sequence, no mater what type it is ( mp4 / mkv / wmv / etc. ).

This could be happen in BD rip, please see attach for example.
Ok, as far as i can understand there's no support but is it a feature that requires a lot of work to be implemented??
I load an anime to my USB drive, then i connect it with usb otg next when i click on an episode basically there are neither OP nor ED because they're in two separate files. By the way i don't really mind not seeing OP or ED for the 1 or 2 episodes i watch on my phone, but it kinda bothers me when i'm far away from my PC only with USB drive with a preloaded anime and I can't see neither OP nor ED in all episodes.

Actually #6 is MKV ordered chapters and #8 is playlist according to the feature list.
I've read them carefully and respect of any developers.
That's why I've mentioned their number in Feature list in my first post in this thread.
If any offend please accept my apology.

Ah, I did not notice that you referenced the list in your original post.
Regardless, the takeaway is that both ordered chapters and playlists are in the development queue!
Is this the same sort of feature as ordered chapters?
I'd like to manually select which chapter to play in an MKV file that has several chapter points.
Is this ability already in MX Player and I don't know where to access it?
I recently merged some MKV/AVI etc files into a single MKV file with Mkvmerge and added chapters,
and a bonus would be selecting to jump to chapter 2 or chapter 10, for example.
If it's part of the ordered chapters then I'll sit back and wait, and if it's a different fish then I'll add an extra feature request.
Thanks
foxi
after how many years .......
After how many years , even high priority no #6, mx player still not added chapter support, all I know after long development is kind of bug fix only. :crying:
Could you add it in next release version [recent is 1.7b38 [15-03-2015] , I think ], please!!!

[Feature Request] bookmark video

I wish mxplayer has the option for users to bookmark the video like the mvideo player. It will be very convenient for user to go back to certain time spot in the video to replay. It just likes creating chapters for video clip.
It would be a good feature!
Though, MX already remembers last playback position when you return to an unfinished video.
I think it's not answer!.
The questions is about many bookmarks on single video file!.
I am in the same situation like kbwme2006.
Please add a bookmarks/sections on playing a single video who have got a many topics/division/teology parts in one file.
It will be perfect for technician video like TOTURIALs to be add bookmark like simle points.
Of course it will be perfect to can by buttons PREV/NEXT go beetween this bookmars/sections on single film.
This situation is in pot player at PC.
BR temp user.
In my opinion many bookmarks will be perfect. I use PotPlayer too.
It's look like: i (dot) imgur (dot) com / YvKatF2 (dot) png
Shift+Pg[Up/Down] step between those bookmars at the same one video.
The bookmars are saved into separate file next to original played file.

I think what you are referring to are mkv chapter markers. Mkv videos can have chapter indicators, but MX currently doesn't support interpretation of chapter markers in Mkvs.

Hey bro. Bookmarking means keeping records of streaming links for future uses , the same way browser do. I also use lot of tv channel's link for watching them. MX player handle better than the official tv app. So keeping the record ( like a video list) of links in MX Player will be easy for me. I dont need to manually copy from file manager then paste in MX player. Please inform Developer about this feature.
I want to setup bookmarks and have a-b playback and repeat just like androids Act 1 video player has had for years. It's a real shame this simple request has never been implemented as I've been requesting it for years.

[Q] Why doesn't the Network Stream option save a list of previous streams?

MX Player is one of the simplest and most elegant players I have ever used. However, it baffles me that I have to keep searching on the internet for streams that I've already viewed (e.g. if I want to watch a speech again, I have to find the link all over again as it only stores the last viewed stream link). MX Player should keep a list of previously viewed streams. This would really help us!
I thought that when you have the network stream popup open with no text entered, it shows a list of most recent entries? I get this.
You're right, I get that too. But, it's not intuitive. MX Player has always been intuitive, except here.
Suppose I have a bunch of video links that look like:
//r3---sn-vgqsenek.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?requiressl=yes&shardbypass=yes&cmbypass=yes&id=c2672f2fb5e&itag=22&ipbits=0&expire=1431044482&sparams=cmbypass,expire,id,ip,ipbits,itag,mm,ms,mv,nh,pl,requiressl,shardbypass,source&signature=7731E43598E560ECFA73803FEBC928282F&key=cms1&cms_redirect=yes&mm=31&ms=au&mt=1428859066&mv=m&nh=IgxMjcuMCLjE&pl=18
Hard to tell them apart. Thus, a way to create a list of streams would be very helpful.
Agree with you
It will be very helpful if MX player has the option that save the list of Network Stream.
Thanks!
@ajr1 @fulmind
Actually it won't work for most of the streaming links. For example the above given link is temporary. Once the session expires you cannot stream the same link. You will get only error. It's same with most of the streaming sites. They use session to avoid hot linking of any video file.

How do lyrics work in the new music player?

Sorry if asking here violates the forum rules, but didn't get an answer from the simple question thread.
I wonder how lyrics work in the new music player.
I put a .lrc file with the same name as the mp3 file in the same folder. The player says no lyrics found.
I also tried using tools such as mp3tag to embed the lyrics in the mp3 file. The player still says no lyrics found.
Then I tried the search online feature as it prompts. It only directs to a general search in Google, which I couldn't see much to do with the player.
