[Kernel] Comparison | Preferred Settings | Antutu Score - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi all,
As you all know we already introduced with 3 amazing Kernel (AELKernel, Jesse & SuperKernel) but we can only used 1 for our daily basis.
1) Please share your though why you choice that kernel compared with others.
2) The best settings you used that make your phone better in term of battery life or performance *attach with screenshot is recommended
3) Advantage and disadvantage. We can share this information with everyone that needed.
Thank you.

Never heard of ael. I'm currently using Jesse and it's running very well (actually I didn't notice any difference compared to stock, the phone runs very good as is). No disrespect to the super kernel dev, he seems very active and listens to feedback, but his ROM always had some kind of issue for me, he releases a ROM, then the next day releases a new update to fix bugs. So I didn't bother with his kernel yet.

[ROM] [JB 4.2.2][SPEED][BATTERY][STABILITY] PRIME/ATOM-422

PLEASE READ:
This AOSP is not limited to source changes from CM, Vanir, CNA, EOS, Carbon, AOKP etc. you get the best of all of them.* All features included have been reworked to eliminate performance sinks and memory leaks and subtly improved as i see fit also. Finally, this rom is compiled using GLOBAL -O3 -fstrict-aliasing.* I don't just turn it off where there's violations like every other "linaro" ROM source i've seen listed.* This is the real deal.* Latest linaro toolchain snapshot and proper use of the current 4.8 GCC features so it actually means something to say it's compiled with GCC 4.8.
Disclaimer: Because I'm using building using commits from every major repo in existence it may take a while to integrate some of the major features to my standards. I may release a stock AOKP feature as a beta until I have the chance to improve it but I'm not interested in band-aid fixing things or duck taping **** together just to get more crap under the features list and change log. Also, If you have questions or interest in building or joining vanirAOSP please message me on gtalk: [email protected] and feel free to add me on google+
here is a link to the parent thread where you can view previous change logs and perhaps find an answer to a question

Atom 422 grouper
Why does the server say 6/22 as last update?
Whawuzzat?!
Installed this last night. No issues so far with general use. One disturbing thing to be aware of is that this ROM seems to be reading my mind, anticipating everything I'm going to do next. I can think of no other explanation for how fast and responsive this thing is! Thank you, Prime. I've been wanting a "best-of" mashup ROM like this. :good:
Yes this ROM is lightning fast, love the faux kernel included
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Like other said, this ROM is very fast and smooth, no lag at all, even If my nexus 7 tend to become laggy.
When i installed the ROM the CPU governor was set at user space, should i leave it there for best result?

It's very fast rom but seems like battery drain very fast and charge very long
Silly Questions...
What is the difference between Atom and Prime roms ??
also that if i am running atom rom fully customized...can i switch to prime by a dity flash (Without wiping anything except dalvick and cache partition)???

Questions like this are vague as heck. And in my opinion, a bit pointless. Everyone's battery life is different depending on usage patterns and many other things. If someone tells you it has "good" battery life, they're only using their own experiences as a reference which means it is probably completely different to your definition of "good" or "fast" in your case.
The best way for you to get your answer would be to flash it and make your own judgement

I'll admit i was a bit vague, i am currently on aokp mr2 + m-kernel a56. I meant to ask how does this rom's battery drain compare to either stock rom or my combo in ,,normal'' usage patterns (casual gaming, web browsing, some songs, maybe a movie or two). I mean, there's gotta be some ordinary usage pattern, not everyone is a serious gamer or a multimedia-only user, right ? The N7's official battery life estimation was formulated by looking at some aggregate usage patterns, and that could be taken as the book example for the ,,normal'' usage pattern. I hope i cleared things up a bit.

[Q] Benchmarks on OMNI rom on Nexus 5

Hey guys, this has been bugging me for quiet a while, i've been flashing different roms and came to stay on omni rom because of it stability and great features, my friend who as well recently bought a nexus 5 showed me his antutu benchmark scores at about 27400 (stock and unrooted) so i checked mine out on omni rom and franco kernel, it was about 24300, well obviosuly after that i tried a couple of other roms with franco kernel, and got results of always above 28000 and specially in beergang at 33414.
Now i have never faced any lag or any kind of slowdown in omni rom and the battery is brilliant (16-30hrs depending on gaming time), but after flashing beergang it seems to be much more responsive and faster but battery is really bad.
Now my question is why a great rom such as omni has such a bad score? And should i really consider these scores or just be away with them?
Because developers don't care about pointless "scores". They care about real world performance and stability.

The whole purpose of having a choice of custom roms is to find one which is right for your needs, and hopefully one which you enjoy using
If you are flashing them to find which one has the best score...then you're not actually using the rom...
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I think you ought to know that by now, Quadrant and Antutu are completely useless. I would shoot an analogy at you but I can't think of one that compares, because of how useless those benchmarks actually are.
If you're going to care about benchmark scores, then it's your loss...go with Beergang then and enjoy the battery life. There isn't really anything complicated to it. Personally, omni and droidkang do a great job of performance with good battery life.
If your friend is boasting about his Antutu scores like you say he is and making you question your own phone's performance, then I must say that your friend is but one with the knowledge and maturity of a five year old.
Hi,
The OP is just asking why there is low score, he has the right?
The replies are always and again the same... Here's my opinion about benches, but just mine.
That being said if you really want higher scores, flash this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537299.
I won't repeat that I already said in my very long post but it's right it's not the most important, if you're happy with the whole use of your phone then all is good, benches are a little thing to play with. It's not the main priority (it depends of your goal) and a "really great" rom can bench lower than a "bad" rom and vice versa
Low scores could be explained with a lot of factors like rom and kernel (some are a bit more "optimized" with different thermal management for the kernel and already some Dalvik and Bionic stuff for the rom), CPU settings like governors/governor settings), other tweaks, the flashable zip above with optimized Dalvik/Bionic libs which gives mainly higher scores in benches, and mainly the thermal throttling, you need to really let your phone cool down before a bench...
So the two things which will increase your score is the flashable zip above and take care of the thermal throttling.

[Q] Photon Q Performance - Any mods/tweaks?

I've had my phone for a while now, over a year. I've been extremely happy with it, so much so that I'll probably order another one.
My only complaint about the phone is I have found the performance to be getting worse.
I'm running the Carbon ROM, Android 4.42
CARBON-KK-NIGHTLY-20140529-1232, build date May 29, 2014.
The guy who does the simcard mod installed this and told me it was more stable than the Cryogen mods that everyone here seems to be using. What do you guys think?
Should I stay with this ROM, or should I switch to the Cryo? I read on another thread that someone downgraded to 10.2.1 and his phone's performance was a lot better.
Is there any other tweaks that can be done within the Android OS to improve performance? I'm a believer in enable only what you need.. I need, GPS, Data, Phone, Texting, Wifi. Not much else.. don't use too many apps.
Thoughts & comments appreciated.. Thanks
/Fever
There's an unofficial carbon build that's added some performance stuff to it - it allows you to use a faster file system (f2fs) and I think he's got zram support in there too. Plus it's a newer version of kitkat and all that. If I were in your position, I'd try that first cuz it's probably a smooth update. But who knows, 10.2 could be faster, I started with 11. There's also a modified kernel that allows you to overclock from the standard 1.5GHz all the way up to 1.89GHz, as well as underclock I think to save battery, although never looked closely into that myself or exactly which roms it'll work with but I think any official CM11, but you couldn't use it with f2fs as that has to be in kernel.

What's the best ROM to speed up an ailing Galaxy Tab 2??

I bought my dad a Galaxy Tab 2 a few years ago and although he barely uses it, it seems to have slowed to a crawl even whilst using it's most basic functions! (I've tried a full factory reset and it's still ridiculously slow - 20+ seconds just to load up the Play Store for example!)
Is there a generally regarded "fastest" (lightweight?) custom ROM out there that I could put on for him to extend the usability a bit?
Thanks...
slimkat slimlp builds are one of the most lightest and speed efficient roms.
Aosp builds are the minimalist builds, pure stock android experience.
Omni builds are good too, with little more features and oc kernel.
Generally CyanogenMod would get the latest updates(with bugs fixes and improvements) and then other rom will follow.
Then there is candy rom with most features than others.
Marshmallow builds are still in development.
Lollipop builds are near stable now.
Kitkat builds won't get more stability than it has already got.
Choose according to your dad requirements.
Thanks for the reply!
I went with Cyanogenmod in the end (10.1.3 just because it looked to be the most recent that was "stable" rather than "nightly" - not sure what the difference is!?!?)
Result - amazing!!!!!
The difference in speed is like night and day!!
Thanks again...

Thanks for the recommendation. Even I'm thinking of downgrading the device from cm13. It simply isn't worth the lag.
I might try some of the other lighter builds mentioned in the previous post first though.
What kind of benchmark tests does one run to know which rom is optimized for a device?

Try dhollmen 4.4.4 rom
It has got lightening speed

Best smothness kernel?

Hi, currently im using blu spark kernel but I'm wondering which kernel is the best if all what I care is smothness of os, scrolling etc. And second question: if I have now blu spark kernel and want to change it for a elementalx for example all I must to do is just flash new kernel in recovery or go back to stock and flash then? And third.. what options i can change in kernel audiotor to get best smothness? I'm just crazy about smothness, all my monitors have 144hz and every single, even little drop of fps make my nervous.. Thanks for answers

This is going to be tough. If smoothness is your goal then EX, Flash, Radioactive, Smurf will be potential candidates. I've heard recently a lot of people falling in love with the flash kernel but development has been halted until further notice. I personally use EX. Half these kernels achieve similar functionality so it's largely preference and what mates with your device well.
All the kernels are very good and the OP6 is naturally so fast that it's hard to tell which one is better.
Indeed, a lot of people say flash kernel is the fastest and the one with the best performance. I can tell it's blazing fast. But is it faster than others? I couldn't tell for sure.
From my personal experience, I can tell Flash is great (but not maintained anymore, so don't expect it to keep working after a few OOS updates), otherwise I really love blu spark and FK. However, these two have bugs with camera since OOS 9.0.2 so I'd recommend to wait for a move from OP or them before recommending them.
Fourth great recommendation, EX: it's really good and rock-stable.
I use EX Kernel and it's insanely stable and 100% smooth. Never had a hiccup, stutters or lag with the kernel and achieve 9-11 hours of screen on time per charge. I've used flash kernel in the past but was a time but more performance based and not quite as good with battery then EX is but I read it's no longer in development which I find strange. The flash had been the kernels for OnePlus devices since the 5 that I know of and I think since the 3 actually.
From my experience, Flash and BluSpark kernels are the smoothest. EX and FK are more battery friendly.
Also, both Flash and BluSpark had way better Antutu benchmarks when comparing to EX/FK.
