System Error - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Phone sometimes reads system error and screen flashes blue any idea what the error is?

Try using phone without accessories installed, like sd card / SIM.
If same problem occurs backup data and try repairing software via Xperia Companion.
This normally solves software issue

[Q] [Help]Phone Without System(X8)

Phone: Xperia X8 that used to run doixanh's FB v015
So I tried flashing FB v019 and it gave me a symlink error. After numerous attempts and a wrong click, I ended up with a bootloop.
I reflashed from SEUS and during the update my computer lost power, it's an unplugged laptop.
The phone will not turn on.
SEUS will not flash it and all SE Customer Service told me after 1 hour with them was to wait, even though SEUS is stuck on the screen that detects the system.
I'm thinking that somehow in the process of all this the old system got deleted and the new system didn't get in.
So now I essentially have an empty phone with no system.
The USB flash works though because my computer and PC Companion can detect it, but I think that's about it.
Does anyone have suggestions? Is there something that could do a forced installation of a system?
If there's nothing maybe I'll have to go to a service center.

[Resolved] [Q] Xperia Ray OTA Brick Problem

My phone bricked after OTA. I checked all tutorials but whenever i try to flash ftf files, flashtool is keeping to say open debugging.
Before trying flashtool i flashed it several times with wotanserver.
Please help me.
Did you try to repair it using PC Companion?
This will do a clean flash with a complete original Image.
Thanks for your help i fixed it with flashtool
USB Connection constantly up and down
Hi guys,
I made an OTA update to my xperia Ray ST18 because the guy that sold me the phone didn't warn me it has been unlocked. Now it's dead!
I'm really desperate.
I tried Sony Update Tool to try to flash the new ROM. It detects the phone and says it has flashed OK. Then I disconnect the cable and try to turn on the phone but it doesn't start.
The only response I get when I try to restart the phone is a short vibration but the phone still doesn't start.
I don't know if it's normal but when I put the phone to charge there's no light turning on. Is it normal?
I'm also trying to flash with Flashtool but the phone now keeps loosing USB connection.
Any tips would be highly appreciated.

Hi,
Normaly is Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS) the best Way
to repair your Phone.
If the Phone loos USB-Connection, check USB (ADB+SDK) Driver
or install new.
Maybe a other Way is "S1tool" it´s a small and crippled subset of SETOOL2 service tool.
Install it, all USB Driver inside.
Shut down your Virusprogram an startet it.
Press the Restore Button in S1
Bring Phone in Fastboot
(Loudness Button UP and USB Connect, you see blue Light on the Home Button)
Wait arround 5 Second..... Finsh
I had the same Problem about flash on my Ray.
The Phone was dead, only the Vibration works on started.
If i press the Start-Botton again, the Home-Botton-Light flash,
that´s was all.
New flashing with SEUS brought no success
S1 is also a good Tool for easy "unblock Bootloader in 10 Second"
And the CyanogenMod 7.20
(original update-cm-7.2.0-RC1-urushi-signed)
ist the best Firmware for the Ray.
Absolut fast, so overclocking ca do.
My Ray works with 1,6 GHz without Probs.
All what you need find it here:

FOR THE FUTURE, NO OTA UPDATE IF BOOTLOADER IS OPEN - THE FIRMWARE IS THEN BLOCKED FOR OTA
Greeting Onex1
Don't know if anyone can help me in my situation but I have a major problem arising from an OTA update too, my phone just refuses to read my SIM card. In fact, it doesn't even ask me for my PIN number, it just boots as normal but I have no connection to any network. I've tried using the SIM card in another phone and it works fine, therefore the problem is with the phone itself.
I'd recently had my phone network & bootloader unlocked by wotanserver using the test point method - because of this I thought the DRM keys would be fine (e.g. TrackId & Timescape still worked). However, when I was updating OTA my phone bricked!
So, I searched high and low for a solution and ended up using s1tool to restore the locked bootloader. Then I used flashtool to flash a stock ICS ftf file. It seemed to work (the phone rebooted) but it was then I noticed that the SIM card wasn't being recognised. Also, in the Flashtool log I noticed that a blue line was there saying 'this file is ignored simlock.ta'.
I've tried everything I can think of to fix this.. Hard resets, updating with Sony Update Service but nothing works. There's just so much conflicting info out there that I'm really confused at this stage. I have a perfectly good phone in that everything works bar the SIM and I'd hate to have to buy another one!
Any suggestions anyone or is my phone screwed for good? :/

SD card problem

Hi,
Since I unlocked bootloader and rooted phone, I have a strange problem with my SD card. Phone says that SD card can be removed safely and then it says it's preparing SD card and checking for error. And then it's removing it and preparing it again and again...
I just don't know what to do.
I tried with another card, I tried to remove and put back in the SD card, I formated the card with the phone, I erased cache and dalvik but nothing works.
My device is european MT7-L09 with B331 update.
I followed this method : http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/general/locked-bootloader-root-t3290546
I think that I solved my problem.
I reinitialized the phone using stock recovery and it seems that the problem is gone.
Root is still there so it's OK.
I have a backup of all my apps so I just need to restore everything using the Huawei backup tool and everything will be fine.
Hope this helps anyone in the same situation as mine.
I recently had a similar issue with device showing me that the sd card safe to remove then initializing again, noticed it happening after I had connected my phone as USB storage mode to my laptop. To resolve it I just connected it again to laptop and then chose to connect it as charge only, since then it stopped doing that.
Thanks for the tip !
I'm not going to try if it works because if it doesn't, then I'll have to factory reset my MT7 again...
But maybe it can help somebody else ?

BRICKED DEVICE? - Flashtool Error: processing of system.sin finished with errors

So I ran into some issues when I initially tried to get the fingerprint sensor to work by flashing to the CE1 firmware. After much patience and meticulous research, I was able to flash the device and get the fingerprint sensor to work. However, after a few hours I noticed that the firmware was a bit buggy and apps would randomly stop working (i.e. Google Play Services, Email, etc.). The final straw was when I got an incoming call and the phone's screen kept going dark, making it difficult to answer. Once I answered the phone, it decided to restart itself, which it had been doing randomly about twice a day. After I did a software repair, the phone failed to complete the setup and restarted itself at the fingerprint setup stage. After trying to repair the phone again (Software Repair), the phone is now BRICKED! I'm trying to get the device back to working order, but Software Repair keeps failing and Flashtool keeps giving me the system.sin error. Someone, please help! I haven't had the device for two weeks and I'm already frustrated.
version numbers (ROMs, tools, operating system used) would help a lot in diagnosis...
Did you do a factory reset before/after flashing (what???) ?
Hi,
I were having the same issue(.sin file errors in flashtool and XC finishes with error), Use back panel of ur PC and reinstall the driver for xz and flashmode.
Xz drivers = https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4IlcVrKbV2qeloxN01ESkZZTkU/view?usp=drivesdk
And flashmode r in the FlashTool folder.

I tried flashing both the Central Europe (41.2.A.7.8) and UK (41.2.A.7.35) ROMs. Also tried using PC Companion to repair the phone after the failed flash, but it keeps failing to complete. The phone currently boots to a screen that says the software update failed and to plug in the phone to the computer.

I have never dealt with a botched flash ...
- Make sure you have the latest Flashtool (flashtool.net !) and at least 3 GBytes of disk space.
- Find the ../devices/F83XX/ folder and there copy 39.fsc to 41.fsc
- let Flashtool flash the UK FTF (you verified the md5sum?) with all wipe boxes checked
If this fails post the log, esp. warnings and errors of Flashtool. Be patient - flashing /system will take 10+ minutes.
========= Edit ================
Please keep it in this thread!
Your FTF download seems to be botched looking at the log you did not post here ...

Buggy, but operational
In a last attempt to get the device working before conceding defeat and picking up a go phone for the interim, I managed to get the phone to complete the Software Repair process via Xperia Companion. The internet speed where I'm staying is a bit slow, so I think that may have been part of my problem. While some apps are still crashing periodically and the phone itself is exhibiting erratic behavior, it is stable enough for me to use until I return to civilization (i.e. reliable internet connection). Does anyone have any recommendations on the next steps? Should I try reflashing the ROM with flashtool, or simply doing another Software Repair with the Xperia Companion?
Check your system storage if it's free or not (atleast 4gigs)
I think the issue may be the sim card. After I removed it the last time (it literally fell out when I removed the tray), I re-flashed using the basic instructions and it successfully flashed the phone. Additionally, leaving the SIM out, I've begun setting up the phone without issue. Once the basic apps are updated, I'm going to try to secure my SIM to the tray and see if the phone will work normally. Otherwise, I might need to see the Magenta Men and get a new card.
So the only issue now is random reboots and apps freezing. I think it may be due to a loose SIM in the tray, so I'll head to my carrier to see if I can resolve the the issue. If anyone has any other ideas of the cause, let me know.
System.sin Error is Back
Ok, back with the same issue(s) again. I tried to reflash after the random reboots began to increase in frequency. Here is what flashtool is telling me (log attached).

Wipe boxes checked?
Why do you flash a CE1? Are you operating the phone near Oakland?

Wipe boxes checked (I think there are 5 of them). And I just use CE1 because someone recommended it. Should I be using the UK version?

When you say copy, you mean rename? Windows won't let me copy and paste 39.fsc to 41.fsc.
Also, yes I'm using the phone in the SF Bay Area and I am flashing CE1 or UK versions to get the fingerprint sensor operational.

Bootloader isn't unlocked. I'm trying to avoid doing that in case I need to send it into Sony for repair. So far, the system is somewhat stable, but apps keep crashing and there are random freezes followed by reboots.
