Always on Display on S6 - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is AOD gonna be ported to the s6? I saw that note 3 got that feature even tho its a 3 year old phone. Or is an update gonna add this?

No update from Samsung but maybe a port I don't know.

Already ported but it doesn't really work like how it does in the Galaxy S7, but it's good.

Because it is the superior device.
But obviously i'd say that as i own the device. Perhaps if you cluttered the s5 forum with these threads instead, you could get a useful answer

Can you tell me why i should drink tea while i like coffee better? Look in the N5 forum and read what users say and what the up- and downsides are and look on Youtube for reviews etc etc.
It's kind of a no brainer really lol

What he just said lol if I was debating between a BMW or a VW and I asked the opposites which I should go for, of course they're gonna say their product. Impartial advice is the way

Development for the S5 however will be much and much more active than for the Note 3, you can be sure of that. So if you`re looking for that, there will be more to pick from there. I hope we`ll get the S5`s TW and UI too for the N3
To the OP, I'll say just take the size into consideration. If you want a bugger display (and the S pen) go for the note 3. If you want something more manageable with one hand, go for the S5. Both solid devices, you can't go wrong either way.

Sup man!!!! Hahhahahha
Yeah well I'm actually in a dilemma myself like the OP, its either S5, Note 3 or M8 although I'm leaning more towards the Samsung devices. How's your note treating you?

I think its a great phone so far. Running JackyAway rom and Lean Kernel and performance and batterylife is excellent. And its 32GB instead of the S5`s 16GB storage. Plus the bigger screen is a joy to the eyes

True.
There's a ROM called hyperdrive for the T-Mobile US Note 3 that gives the S5 theme and system UI. Because of that ROM I'm strongly considering going back to the note 3....for a fourth time!

Yeah let's hope, it looks much better than the older touchwiz IMO.
I do like bigger phones but I like the S5 size, its perfect. I have 2-3 weeks to decide before I buy the device so I'll think about it.

I guess mazook98 is thinking we might want to ditch our S7 for a note 5 so that we could have a rooted phone that feels like an S7 Edge. At least software wise.

No, I posted it for people who haven't pulled the trigger on buying the S7 because of the bootloader thing, but own a Note 5 right now. Or people who kept their old ones.
People DO check out forums of devices they haven't bought yet: at least, I know I do.

About to get a tmobile sg note5... some questions...

Hello to the greatest comunity...
Im about to get a tmobile note 5 next week (very excited by the way), my prior handheld was the sg s6 edge+ that i lost a couple a months ago (very sad for that) the thing is, i used to root my devices before the s6 edge+ (a couple of samsung models and a htc) im looking to root the device as soon as i can put my hands on it and im looking for a stock ROM but DEBLOATED and without the HOTSPOT THETERING LIMITATION...
I want to keep the phone almost stock for now, i dont want to get crazy flashing all kinds of things how i used to do with my other devices...
Can somebody guide me to the best root way and to a debloated therering restriction free stock ROM for the tmobile note 5 SM-N920T 32gb? Really apriciate the orientation, thanks in advanced...
Or at least, there is a way to avoid the thetering restriction?
No, foxfi does not work...

T-Mobile just removed most of the tethering restrictions yesterday. AFAIK

I have Note 4 also. I dont want to go down in screen size as I like it, The S Pen is nice but I so seldom use it anymore, I am looking at the G6 too, but am holding off to see what the S8+ actually brings as I want more battery in my next phone and a camera that can focus faster LOL.

i think the S8+ will do just fine. i have had every note device and never use the S pen. im excited for the new s8 though. just retruned my 7 plus and reversed my upgrade!
I was so excited when I got my note 5 back when, and decided that with oden, rooting was marvelous. and the dev. was very supportive. I'm on the s7 for a second time around and have seen a complete reversal for support. so with me it's a non issue with out an unlocked boot-loader. but if I had to choose, I couldn't wait, its the s8+ . Hopefully, a miracle would happen. peace.
I will get the S8+ if I decided to get a Samsung device this year. Simply because I rarely used the SPen ever.
Yea. I only use spen for copy and pasting texts

The Note 8 might have fingerprint under glass (at front), according rumors, the S8 would have had it, but Samsung run out of time to produce enough.
or the Samsung Galaxy On8? india only, but seems a better phone with removable back cover, none of this glass plated nonsense.
S8+ is on my high priority list! Don't need pen...
Just choose s8 plus
I still remember the day I bought a s6 edge
I used to love Samsung devices, but ever since they went only curved screens I've been bummed. Ooh well no more Galaxy's for me anymore. There are plenty of other phones. BTW absolutely love my Huawei Mate 9, best phone I've ever owned and I have owned almost all of them.
I almost bought a Mate 9, but the development there was scarce. Which made me have second thoughts. I'm currently using the Note 5 and was considering a G6 tough at first. I'm interested in seeing what the S8+ have to offer though and will make my decision after the reveal.
i had galaxy S2 then legendary S3 ...and then i switched to Note 4....and i sweared i would never go back to S series from note series.....so i guess either note 8 or i dont know what to buy these days....When Note 4 came out it blow my mind and i said that i must have it and bought it a moment when it came out....Now days i have no idea what my next phone will be :/
I was eagerly waiting for the release of the new Galaxy S phone, sold my S7 Edge like a month ago. I was all hyped and stuff, but even since all the rumours started to show up (no 6 gigs ram, no fingerprint scanner under the front glass (maybe for Note 8), patent for Note 8 dual camera etc.), I became unsure. At this moment i don't even know if i should spend 900 euros on a phone ) I even considered buying a Umidigi Z Pro

Official Updates for Galaxy s6

I was wondering is it possible that the galaxy s6 could get longer support official wise because Samsung phones usually get 2 years of support than they drop them but the s6 was a abousalty a beast 2 years ago spec wise from any of the galaxys at that time so is it possible it could get android because it is such a very used device.
(better than the iphone 7 cough)

Hello
Actually it won't but what kind of support do you mean?
Usually Samsung phones barley even get one major android upgrade but the galaxy s6 can certainly handle android oreo

If you want an android O on the device -expect bugs- wait for your device developers and see if they can get it working on your device here on XDA
However this won't be an official ROM *IF* you your device will have one you need a custom recovery to flash it.
I have verizon so I can't but thanks anyway bye
