bluetooth between pc and gear s2: not file transfer possilbe - Samsung Gear S2

hi everyone
the bluetooth setup and verification worked fine on both sides, i.e. surface 4 and gear s2. after selecting a file for transfer towards my gear s2, the transfer doesn't occur.
i have been spending a lot of time lately to figure out how i can load some music files to my new watch.
any ideas how i can proceed? unfortunately, the gear-app on my galaxy is not showing any music files so this obvious solution doesn't work for me.
thanks in advance for any advice.

I use Filesmaster to copy files into Gear S2. From Filesmaster home page you can download bluetooth plugin for computer with Windwos and transfer files direct from computer to Gear S2. First you have to install filesmaster from samsugn store.

Best solution is to use Filesmaster and easy transfer files from computer to gear via WiFi or Bluetooth. Simple and comfortable for me.

Only some (11)folders showing when connected to PC

Missing are access to program folders including torrent folders where i've download videos and music on my phone and now am unable to transfer to my pc. Unlike the s4 and s2 which I've previously own, I cant access a ton of folders in the Nexus 5, Is this by design or is there something wrong with my connection. If by design is there a way to bypass it.

looks like you have switched from iphone you just need to "copy" and "paste" the music in the storage and nothing else
the player will automatically detect it from anywhere in the phone.

I haven't switched from iPhone, been a htc user.
When i connect s6 to mac using usb then load up kies i get this pop up
An alternative is you can boot to Windows using Boot Camp. Connect your S6 via USB. Windows will recognize your S6 as a USB drive. Copy and paste all your music files to a folder on your S6. Your S6 will recognize the music files automatically. This worked for me and my macbook pro.

Use Android File Transfer for Mac OSX
https://www.android.com/filetransfer/
You mean on OS X, the phone does not show up as a normal starge device where you can copy your files?
Man, S6 is a Samsung device not HTC. i thought it was an IP 6s, lol. For android, the process is quite simple, just copy and paste music to the Music folder on your phone. Make sure the format is supported by Android, like MP3, WMV, etc... DRM protected music will not work on the device.
Samsung seems to be transitioning from KIES to Smartswitch. KIES does not support the most recent phones.

File Transfer

How do you connect to a computer to transfer files. My laptop doesnt have bluetooth, so i wasnt sure how to connect.
Do i also need to have a file manager installed on the watch to transfer them?
want to put music, and find a way install some personal ringtones.
Has anyone been able to change to a personal ringtone as well?

I have s2 classic so not sure about sport/3g models, but with mine there is only a bluetooth or wifi connection. So I put whatever files i need to transfer on my phone first, then use the gear manager app to transfer them to my watch. Music and photos are easy through the app. For other stuff like pdf, etc you need to rename those files to a video or music extension like .mp3, then move them through gear manager to the watch, then use a watch app like filemaster to rename the file on your watch back to pdf. Not sure about ring tones, haven't looked into that yet. Hope this helps.

With a file manager on the watch, can you obtain root access? Really aren't too many developmental threads on the watches. Guess the demand isn't high enough to have people in development stages.
Which brings me to another question. If I started to develop an app, how would you transfer to the watch?
.... i need an app to taking files from phone directly to gear s2....
I'm shure. is the only way for resolving a lot of problems, 4 example see photo of watsupp or any other not supported app

Not sure about root on tizen... hopefully more devs get involved in the future. Tizen started off small but is starting to increase it's presence in the market with the popularity of its Gear smartwatch line.
If you develop an app I assume you would connect the watch to your home wifi network and then connect your home pc to the watch using sdb. I could be wrong, but not seeing any other way.
Folks, I know this is almost off-topic, but Is there any way to transfer music files through this method?

Can Filesmaster be installed on the Gear S2 without a compatible Android phone?
I found a thread about deploying apps into the Gear S2, to find it, google "Developer: How to deploy to Gear S2 smartwatch - Tizen Experts". Fairly complicated, it requires several developer tools, but it works. I could not figure out where to put music files though!

Yes, there is Filesmaster Standalone in Samsung Apps store. It doesn't need Android plugin.

I cann ot find a standalone Filesmaster in Samsung App store, do you have a link
Yes, you can use Filesmaster Standalone to transfer files between any Android phone and Gear S2.
You have download Filesmaster Mobile Plugin from Google Play. It uses Bluetooth connection. You can
transfer files for both directions. Additionally you can transfer files from/to computer via theirs application
launched on a computer called Filesmaster Desktop Plugin. All download from filesmaster home page

I have installed last version 4.0.1 and they added function to send files as attachment to email.

Turn tablet into dedicated spotify player

Hi All.
I've an old Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) kicking around.
I'm wanting to give this device a new purpose: Become the office music controller. (yes I know it's a BIG device)
I have a premium spotify account, and I'm looking to run this from the device to the bluetooth speakers in the office. I understand i could just use the app. This being said, I want to remove all other apps and functionality other than to trawl spotify and stream the music to the speakers.
I've thought of XBMC, but i'm unsure how this would work for this purpose. I don't have the physical storage.
Any help here in how to progress or any input would be greatly appreciated.
Maybe Spotify Connect with the screen always on ?

Connect to Laptop/PC (Fit 2 Pro) not possible

Hello all,
I want to copy mp3 files to my Fit Pro 2.
There is an option in my mobile software, however I have my mp3's on my Laptop.
According Samsung, there is an option in the music menu "Gear music manager"
Through this option you connect with WIFI to your laptop.
This option in NOT present in my watch..
So far as know all software (on phone / wearable) are up to date. (installed updated all yesterday)
What am I doing wrong? Is there an other way?
Thanks in advance
Maurice
are you using the galaxy wearables app? It uploads a lot of stuff to your watch that isn't present when its new ( or if you factory reset.)
