HELP l cannot connect the nexus s to USB

When I connect my nexus S to the computer (i have tried 3 different computer' different USB cabels and i even tried with my father's nexus s)
the usb connection screen in the phone pup up just for a second and than dissapear, and the computer sais that it donwt recognaise the divice.
when i first tried to connect I had a older version of cynogenMod 4.0.4, and when i saw that its not working i did a factory reset and wiped the system. now im updated to the newest cynogenMod nightbuild.
one time i enterd my divice to ricovery mode and i connected it to the computer' then i turned it on and it worked. but it happened only one time. ive tried to cange batteries, cabels, update the drivers in the computer' but nothing works!
I have the divice almust a year' but its not working only in the last month.
I've searched a lot for a result to this problem and i dident get to fix it!
someone knows what i can do?
please help me.. thank you very much!

Same issue here...
I can't get it to mount to the computer either. Hard to install a new ROM if I can't get it to boot or mount. Let me know if you find a solution.

[Q] Lost USB connection with CM10.1 M2

Every thing was fine while my nexus s istalled CM10.
But after I install CM10.1 M2,I lost my USB connection.
I get the following when the cable is connected: "USB device not recognized".
I tried on different computers and usb cables then got same "USB device not recognized".
After I google that, They said install an app called "USB Switcher". Open it and clicked change to mass storage
and reboot. Then my computer still said "USB device not recognized".
I found the cyanogenmod official forum. There was a man got same proble. I post my story.
but did not get reply.
I thought it may be a bug with MTP transfer mod.
But I did got more information about that.
I thought it may be a bug for CM10 ,but now I intalled CM10 MOD from CM10 M2 TO RC5. Still got same thing.
So I come here for help.

That did not help.
The problem happened after I upgraded CM10.1 CM2 from CM10.1 CM1.
What I did is that just wiped data,cache and install CM10.1 CM2. Then I lost USB connection.

No Prompt for USB storage when connected to PC
Hi, I notice that i am having a problem since some days that am not getting the prompt for USB storage when connected to my Laptop.
I tried all possible solutions changing cables, mounting SDcard from boot, etc etc and also chnaged back an older update of the current ROM. But nothing seems to work. Please help

i son't think it's rom related, i had the same issue with others rom, i asked here but nobody answered me... anyway i found that if you pullout battery then go in recovery fix permission and reboot it starts working again... i think it's some kind of error in the file system, propably the best solution would be to format the partition deleting all data on SD... i'm not able to understand what caused this, one thing i did, but i don't know if it's related, was using LAGFIX and trimming system and data... u can try to mount USB from recovery and see if that works, what recovery are you using ???

My recovery is ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.3.1
I got a way from cm forum。 They said pullout the battery and hit power button random then it will work。But that didn·t help。
I tried your method fix permissions. reboot... IT`s did not work. I try to recheck the USB DEBUG MODE。 It's reboot ...
after all. Noting changed...
I will backup my phone. And try to repartition .and install the latest CM 10.1.0 http://get.cm/get/8Li .

that one is the last cwm recovery and usb mount doesn't work in that ... try last philz touch recovery u can find it here http://d-h.st/users/philz_touch/?fld_id=16784#files and try again, try mounting usb from recovery and see if it works, try flashing another kernel and fix permission againg, it may works the second or third time maybe ...

How to use this Philz Touch recovery?
Hi Kriout, I am unable to access my phone from my computer for about a week now. Earlier it was working fine. I tried resetting the usb ports by uninstalling and re-installing them. only once myphone (Nexus s I9020) is recognized as an unknown device but Windows 7 unable to update the drivers or find them for this device.
If I want to even go back to stock rom ( I am currently using Avatar ROM 4.2.2(android) ) as i am unable to access my phone via computer.
I tried going back to older updates of Avatar Rom to see if its the ROM which might be the issue, but that didn't work either.
I tried mounting the USB/SD via the bootloader but no use.
Can you help me please?

- you should first try to understand if it's a driver problem or a smartphone problem, try to mount USB on other pc
- if they doesn't work you should try to mount it in recovery, use TWRP, an old CWM ( in the last one this function doesn't work) or the philz recovery that u find here http://d-h.st/users/philz_touch/?fld_id=16784#files, try to fix permission, wipe cache and dalvik and pullout battery alos several time if it doesn't work. i found out that for me pulling out battery entering recovery fixing permission, shut down, pull out battery entering recovery and mounting USB often worked... you can try also using different kernel,
- my idea is that the problem is an error in the SD file system so propably the best solution could be formatting the unity from the smartphone itself. i still didn't do it but i made a good cleanup of all folder, even the system file and system folder, leaving jjust music photo and download...
- if everything works in recovery but not in the rom, it could be a kernel or a rom problem, so first change the kernel, if doesn't work make a clean install of something else ... i'm using MIUI v5 with marmite 8.7bigmem and for now everything started working again ...

Here's what i Did. I did install Philz touch recovery. Its very useful. I also installed the Nexus Root Toolkit (NRT). Using NRT I launched the USBDeview. Using this i removed all the google related drivers from the system. I then restarted my phone is bootloader mode and restarted my system as well. Now my System was trying to install the nexus S drivers but unfortunately it said that the device in disconnected. But then in bootloader mode i put the phone in Mount USB storage mode and VOILA i was able to see all my files. I did take a quick back up . But still in the normal mode i was not getting the USB Storage prompt. Now i went back to the bootloader and did a factory reset. and then installed the Latest Avatar ROM. and now I am able to access the Phone storage through my computer.
I am not sure if i had deleted some files by mistake or some other issue. And thank for referring the Philz Touch Recovery. Its great.
Now am thinking of installing the Stock ROM for NEXUS S back on to my Phone. Do you think its a good Idea?

i don't think the stock rom is the best rom ... it depends on what you need ... by the way what is your data transfer rate ( into the SD )??? me in recovery get a good speed with a lot of spike, it transfer data at 5 mbs with spike of 15 and sometime go to 0 ... when i mount USB on the rom i get an almost constant 1.5 mbs that is reaaaaaaally slow ... if i test the write speed using the phone it returns me a normal speed...
p.s. when u say u mount USB in bootloader, u mean on recovery ?

[Completed] Karbonn sparkle V :android one stock recovery

At first,i want to clear my issue.
I have karbonn sparkle v (NOT ROOTED).this phone got september update and stuck at android is starting,optimizing applications and google logon screen.
Then i decided to factory reset the phone with recovery boot but didnt works.
i thought that may be recovered from installing old update i.e.august or previous..i searched and downloaded the update file and update from sd card as mentioned in some of the XDA posts...didnot work.
at final,i decided to stock recovery using SP flash tool.got stock rom and driver installed as mentioned in XDA post and other videos as well.MTK VCOM driver as well as mobile drivers installed and stock ROM downlaoded..But when i open latest SP flash tool and try to connect to phone.it did not.. it tried all possible ways to connect like removing battery ,or removing and inserting with volume button pressed or other...while connecting without battery ,nothing happens in PC driver list,no sound nothing.Sp flash tool doesnot recognise chip and downloading /flashing could not happened...
i had flashed some phones using same method and while connecting with pressing volume key ,flashing started.
But i this case ,what happened i dont know,device is not connected but charges and same stuck at boot screen and device manager shows SPARKLE V in portable device list.
I hope some help make my phone .

PLEASE HELP ME samsung galaxy note 4 ISSUE

Please help me my note 4 n910c just got updated to Marshmellow 6.0
and after the update the fast charging is not working
I have tried everything I also have an s7 and that shows fast charging but my phone doesnt show fast charging
its taking 6 7 hours and its still 60 percent
i also did a factory reset no solution
then i thought of downgrading TO LOLLIPOP 5.1.1 would solve the solution
So i tried to connect my note 4 to pc it wont connect to pc
it says not recognised
but my other phones do get connected
all my drivers are updated and tried everything but nothing is happening
so i thought maybe it would connect to odin in download mode but it wont show up
Now help me please of what to do
if i normally use the 6.0 it wont fast charge and if i want to downgrade it wont connect to odin
HELP MEEEE IM HELPLESS
PLEASE TELL ME if i can flash the old lollipop 5.1 some other way than connecting to odin
or is there any other way to downgrade?

Have you tried uninstalling all the USB drivers for your device, restarting PC, re-installing drivers then restart PC and then try connecting your device.
When you updated, did you boot to stock recovery and factory reset and wipe cache partition then reboot? Sometimes failing to wipe during update can cause things to not work correctly.

Yes I tried everything uninstalling and reinstalling all the drivers and dozens of restarts nothing helps.
Nope when it got updated I didnt factory reset or wipe cache partition cuz i didnt want to loose my data.
It was an official update.
Now I just did the factory reset and cache partition wipe nothing helps
My pc still wont recognise my note 4.

When i connect it makes a sound in pc
And my phone starts charging
And it says usb device not recognised.
And in device manager it shows with a yellow warning triangle that unknown usb device ( device descriptor request failed)

And when you right click on the driver with the yellow triangle and select update driver, it does nothing?
Have you tried manually updating the driver and choosing the option to select from files on your PC instead of the auto-update feature? You can use this method to navigate to the folder that the Samsung drivers are installed in and select them from there, this should load the drivers.

When i try to update it says it is up to date and the manually installing of drivers.
Done with that too
The problem is just with the note 4
I have an s7 edge too and a note 3
They connect without any hassle to my pc

Have you connected to Odin While in download mode and it isn't recognized? Or have you only connected to PC while the phone is running in system and the PC doesn't recognize it?
Try these troubleshooting steps:

Follow the steps but don't install the crappy driver easy program.

It doesnt recognise at all neither on download mode in odin or in pc.
Haha guess what I did everything on that site even installed the crappy program for the extra drivers.
Tried everything man it just wont show up.
The solution everywhere is normally is about when no usb or phone connects
I want a solution to my problem which is all other usbs or phones get connected
Except my note 4

You changed the USB settings as suggested and nothing changes?
You disabled anti-virus before installing the drivers?
You disabled fast startup? (If your PC has this feature)
How USB works on your note 4 versus how it works on your other devices may have slight differences, that would explain why your others connect and the note 4 doesn't.
Have you enabled USB debugging developer options?
99% of the time this is a PC hardware/driver issue, not an issue with the android device in question.

Here's some of the details of what i've been through.. Please help Me.. and thanks in advance..
PLEASE PLEASE.. Finish reading my thread.. I also provide some screenshot for reference of what happened..

I already tried the method of
"Download Only" or Flash the
1. "preloader" first
then after that untick/deselect it
2. load/flash other stuff (lk,boot,recovery,logo,secro,system,cache,userdata)
3. ALSO TRIED. Not flashing the (cache & userdata)
4. I used the stock rom. (Downloaded from ndrom)
5. Still. NO LUCK.
AFTER FLASHING EVERYTHING.
DID NUMEROUS FLASHING METHOD I READ FROM
COUNTLESS WEBSITES and FORUMS.
STILL. My phone is dead.
1. Not charging.
2. (NEW CHARGER) (NEW CHARGING CABLE)
still not charging. (NO LOGO) (NO VIBRATION)
3. I fully charged my (REMOVABLE BATTERY) using UNIVERSAL CHARGER.
4. I even bought new battery (SAME MODEL)
5. No luck.
Here's what happened (BEFORE BRICK)
1. My Phone (FIREFLY INTENSE XL) hanged then suddenly turned off.
2. I switched it on. It started well.
3. After few seconds, it restarted.
4. Now, stuck at logo.
5. I've waited for many hours. Still stuck at logo.
6. GOOGLED how to FACTORY RESET.
7. Had some luck? I was able to boot at FACTORY OPTIONS
(Chinese Text)
8. I GOOGLED again what's this chinese character/text means.
9. I GOOGLED how to FACTORY RESET.
10. Now, i chosed the option that has **EMMC text on it.
11. I Reboot the phone. STILL-Stock at logo.
.....Now I begin flashing using LATEST to OLDEST SPFlashTool.
**I made sure that my Battery level is 90%++
12. Flashed the phone for (FIRST TIME)
*I used the "Download Only" Option
*After first time flashing. Still stock at logo.
*Waited for almost (10 Mins. Only)
****Before Second flashing. I know,
My Computer (device manager) still detects my phone normally as Portable Device.
That's the normal detection before I bricked my phone.
...Now
13. Flashed (SECOND TIME)
*I used the "Format ALL and Download" Option
*After 2nd time flashing. Now, it didn't boot.
*I decided to charge it. Now, stock at charging logo.
No indication that it is charging. Mere charging logo. Logo is not moving up nor down.
**Now my PC couldn't detect my device like before--
it has sound of reconnects and disconnect.
Sound and Device Manager indicator.
**It say's in Device Manager
Connected (MediaTek USB Port (COM6)
Reconnect (MediaTek Preloader USB VCOM (Android)(COM5)
14. Yet after that, I managed to Format the phone using SPFLASHTOOl Format Tab.
*After that
*NO BATTERY LOGO even I plugged the phone in charger

Next, the Outdated ROM. Last, CUSTOM ROM - No Luck.

one of the essential *Last Resort to be able to SUCCESFULLY FLASH your CHINESE PHONE.
Sadly, I believe, in NEWER version of SPFT it's not possible when you load the MT6580 scatter file?
I also used old-oldest version of SPFT but it everytime i load the scatter file it says some error
*not legal blah blah blah? Please. Do you have any idea?
Is it possible in MTK6580?

4. I used the stock rom. (Downloaded from ndrom)
5. Still. NO LUCK.
AFTER FLASHING EVERYTHING.
DID NUMEROUS FLASHING METHOD I READ FROM
COUNTLESS WEBSITES and FORUMS.
STILL. My phone is dead.
1. Not charging.
2. (NEW CHARGER) (NEW CHARGING CABLE)
still not charging. (NO LOGO) (NO VIBRATION)
3. I fully charged my (REMOVABLE BATTERY) using UNIVERSAL CHARGER.
4. I even bought new battery (SAME MODEL)
5. No luck.
Here's what happened (BEFORE BRICK)
1. My Phone (FIREFLY INTENSE XL) hanged then suddenly turned off.
2. I switched it on. It started well.
3. After few seconds, it restarted.
4. Now, stuck at logo.
5. I've waited for many hours. Still stuck at logo.
6. GOOGLED how to FACTORY RESET.
7. Had some luck? I was able to boot at FACTORY OPTIONS
(Chinese Text)
8. I GOOGLED again what's this chinese character/text means.
9. I GOOGLED how to FACTORY RESET.
10. Now, i chosed the option that has **EMMC text on it.
11. I Reboot the phone. STILL-Stock at logo.
.....Now I begin flashing using LATEST to OLDEST SPFlashTool.
**I made sure that my Battery level is 90%++
12. Flashed the phone for (FIRST TIME)
*I used the "Download Only" Option
*After first time flashing. Still stock at logo.
*Waited for almost (10 Mins. Only)
****Before Second flashing. I know,
My Computer (device manager) still detects my phone normally as Portable Device.
That's the normal detection before I bricked my phone.
...Now
13. Flashed (SECOND TIME)
*I used the "Format ALL and Download" Option
*After 2nd time flashing. Now, it didn't boot.
*I decided to charge it. Now, stock at charging logo.
No indication that it is charging. Mere charging logo. Logo is not moving up nor down.
**Now my PC couldn't detect my device like before--
it has sound of reconnects and disconnect.
Sound and Device Manager indicator.
**It say's in Device Manager

Cyanogen OS is a custom rom. It can only flash through custom recovery. But you can't even access the recovery mode then it can't help you to unbrick your android.

Other method to physical format using spft?

ADVANCE OPTION + PHYSICAL FORMAT FORCEDLY ERASE (BAD BLOCK MARK IS ERASED) in SPFT?
I see that option in new-latest version of SPFT but, WHENEVER my ROM were already loaded (MTK6580), that option is gone.
I GOOGLED it but I can't seem to find the right keyword for it.. Do you have any idea? even in other android tool?
There's this guy on YTube that, did that method

* I flashed countless times, I just don't want to make things worse..
**Is it possible to install or flash my rom to EXTERNAL SD? and be able to boot my phone using it? There's this guy on Ytube did that to his dead phone and it booted..
He used, some sort of image file and installed it in sd card using wind32diskimager..
Is it possbile? or for some phone models only?

Same problem with me, I also have an MT6580 device and I also first tried to:
(when I used SP Flash tool, it only fully worked in version SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1532_Win )
1) format the whole flash (in SP Flash tool)
2) only select preloader
3) flash (with Download selected, and phone volume + button pressed in and then connected USB to pc)
4) select all other (recovery, boot, system, ...)
5) flash
For me as well, nothing happened - the phone does not react when I try charging it, and pressing the power button has no effect.
The only advice I can give you is the knowledge that the preloader is in the fault - somehow the preloader on my phone before the flashing was different from the preloader in my stock rom. Perhaps it is the same data, but the address at which it is flashed is wrong. Don't bother yet with flashing the system, userdata or other images - if the preloader is not correctly installed, the phone won't recognize it when it tries to boot up, and the other system, recovery etc. images are useless.
Perhaps a good analogy is: say the preloader is the bios of a computer: if the bios fails to be loaded, then the operating system (android, windows etc - i.e. the system, recovery etc. images) will never be loaded either
