Ok, so there's a lot of dirty details i probably shouldn't talk about, but i'll try to give a Bob Saget-narrorated version (How I Met Your Mother watchers will understand whats happening);
my friend asked me for a ride, he needed to pick up a couple ounces of sandwiches. (following me, himym watchers?) in exchange i get a couple bites of sandwich.
this is a pretty normal thing, or at least it used to be. i found a better sandwich shop in a better part of town. but i digress; we proceed to pick up some sandwich.
so we pick up the sandwich guy go to this unfamiliar place and were like bro where the sandwiches at bruh we hungry. and thats when we find out hes not the sandwich guy, hes the sandwich guy's friend and dudes making the sandwiches and is supposedly going to bring them out to us. Eventually, sandwich dudes friend acts like they're taking too long and gets out the car and walks somewhere, none of us are paying attention where he goes we just hungry. when he comes back hes got two other dudes with him. one of thems got a bag, we figure thats the sandwich guy, he gets in the car and is like "lemme get your order" and were like dude, other guy supposed to have told you our order and you were supposed to bring it to us. so the dudes like let me go talk to him since he getting some sandwich too. so he gets out the car and talks to the guy a little, and then opens the bag
kids, nothing good happens after 3 am.
there are no sandwiches in the bag.

here, is where it gits less Bob Saget in full house, more Bob Saget in half baked, so i'm gonna say don't read this if you're timid. its not graphic, but it does kinda show a harsh underlying reality of how unnecessary prohibition of a dr- of sanwiches.. can lead to unnecessary violence. this is also where the part about why you SHOULD BUY THIS CASE comes in. so read it, if youre an adult.
they pull out the guns, and were all more stunned than deer. (idk how many countries have deer, but they just stare at you while youre honking and flashing lights at them until you hit them) The three dudes force us out of the car, each guy handling one of us individually from the other. The guy coming at me had a pistol he was pushing against my head telling me to get out of the car. once what was happening processed i quickly unbuckled my seatbelt, and out of habbit grabbed my phone which was in my lap. pistol-whippeed me in the back of the head, and told me to get on the ground. i did, and layed my phone next to me on the ground, thinking "WHY DO I HAVE THIS, WHAT AM I GONNA DO CALL THE COPS"
i guess the other guy was thinking the same thing, and proceeds to pistol whip my phone. which, mind you, is face down at the time. my phones gone right? that case is designed for drops, no way its gonna survive a full force hit to its back from a gun grip.

dont get me wrong, its bent. and its a noticeable bend (picture iminent,) AND the case cracked a bit. BUT
NO SCREEN DAMAGE WHATSOEVER, PERFECTLY FULLY-FUNCTION-ALMOST-MINT-CONDITION-BESIDES-THE-BEND PHONE

Hello Everyone, Today I was riding my bike on such a beautiful day, i was listening to my music, i had it in my case and when i was crossing the street the phone had fallen on the road, i went to turn around to get it but i was too late, a freaking car had rolled it up. its a shame ive only had this phone for 3 months and i managed to screw it up, first time this has ever happened, i always baby my phones and this happens, it sucks so much and im so pissed. the funny thing is everything still works except the screen, so i was able to use my mobiler to see what i was doing on the phone so i could backup everything, hopefully i should be able to get a new one though
our thoughts will be with u and ur phone.

No offense to your personal preferences, but I can't understand why people use cases. Just about everyone I know that uses a case, has had their phone fall out or they drop it while taking it out of the case. My buddy even had his phone pick-pocketed while in a bar. They bumped into him and unlatched the case, kind of funny though.
I just put my phones in a pants pocket all by themselves.

I had this nightmare scenario occur to me as I jumped on my bike to ride to the office. (finally warm here - even just for 2 days)
I put mine in a holster on my backpack (www.chromebags.com)...and only listen to music with one ear of my Discovery 855.
sorry to hear that, i too was riding because of the amazing weather, i was using the htc audio dongle which got ran over too but survived

haha hopefully i should get a replacement soon, but ya if i do i will get a much better case, i wish i could get a bulletproof case for this thing, the funny thing is the screen was what got rolled up first and it did not crack whatsoever, the motherboard, camera, keyboard, sim card + memory card slot, speaker and all the buttons still work, the lcd has no cracks just a pressure mark. that touch screen is tough.
I know it is some serious wishfull thinking but have you opened the thing up and make sure your ribbon cable connecting the screen top half hasn't just been pull apart from the bottom half? Looks like the phone twisted pretty much around the slidin rails (understandably), but if everything works ok except you have no screen at all, I would be opening it up and checking the ribon cables. I have seen a service manual floating around somewhere, can't remember if it was here, but it gave instructions on openning the Raphael up
i have opened it up, i put it back together, but the thing was i didnt know how to take out the lcd panel so that i could see the wiring on that, the lcd cable attached to the motherboard was tightly connected. i basically got almost everything out of the lcd assembly except the lcd itself. the wire itself looks perfectly fine. its all good though, i will have a parts phone, i should hopefully be getting a free replacement soon
yesterday in class my teacher literally took my phones from my hands when i was texting. i thought she woudl just keep it til after class
(this is college mind you)
she then walked to the window and tossed it out. i was in shock i didnt even know how to react
luckily it was grass and no damage but still what the hell do you do in that situation

Well, I got mine yesterday, decided to go out on a little bike ride and test it out. (with an Ipod) it worked awesomely didnt fall out once, I can safely say that i trust it to hold to my $577 phone to my $1000 bike...
It was well worth the 16 bucks total (including shipping)!

Wow.. that thing is rather large on the bars. Wouldnt be any room for my Garmin on the stem with the phone taking up half the bars.
Yeah, but you can stand it vertically if you have a need for more room.. it doesn't shake or move really at all, the whole swivel tightens down so it doesn't move out of place
the clip itself is very sturdy too, i can hold the whole unit upside down and shake it.. (did it over my bed) and the n1 doesn't fall out or even move.

yes, it has two rubber pieces to fit smaller bars too, its basically a hinge that goes around your bars.. and then you screw it tight
Too bad its doesnt do Ant+ so I could integrate my Powertap.
Thanks for the review nelson. How often do you ride? Since you say it's sturdy...I might take the chance. Maybe I'll wait until rainy season is over first before biting though, just in case something else comes out.

That's my tandem bike, it's dead winter here (chicago) so i haven't ridden since Sept, but I try to go 1000-2000 a summer, sometimes more depending on the weather.. last year was very fair so it was perfect for riding

What kind of tandem do you have? I have a 2009 Cannondale Road tandem. I also had a 1977 Santana tandem (I forget the model) that had the old Sachs 5 group on it. It was slightly too big for me so I sold it last year.
I also have a 1988 Schwinn Tempo, a Pinarello F4:13 and a Blue RC6. I have a Fuji 29'er as well but I dont ride it as much as I wish I could.
I'm not sure how many of you have heard it but a user was on a call and his droid 2 exploded and some of the glass cut his ear causing a hospital visit and 4 stitches. As a Electronics Engineer I doubt anything except the battery could cause such a explosion. But I'm not very knowledgeable on the LCD etc and to what the potential danger is for explosion.
I'm sure this will hit main stream media by tomorrow and if it is proven to be accurate and true, this is going to be a big hit for Moto and maybe cause for concern of others using the same possibly defective hardware.

After some more investigating on Google I think this will turn out to be a fraud or scam. I can't see how the explosion could have came from the inside of the phone with enough force to crack the screen and the phone is still working. Most of these rare instances are related to the battery exploding. If this was the case the device would not function at all.
I suspect this guy damaged the device put it up to his ear and made it cut himself and try to make people believe it exploded.
We will see???
...I dont know what to make of that story. It seems to me that the screen is intact making and "explosion" kinda not possible. It sucks that this day and age we cant just take someones word on what happened but face it, the worlds full of people trying to get rich quick. Cant say that this is what this couple is doing...but looking at the phone, seems more like he dropped it and now wants a new phone for free.
I dont know..I suppose Verizon can release to Motorola his call records under a courts order and that would be the first step..see if he actually placed a call at around that time.

considering that the Moto Droid line uses Gorilla Glass it really makes me wonder how the hell that happened without destroying the phone. one of my buddies who drives for another company accidentally ran his D2 over and the only thing that was still good was the screen. my guess is this dude is pissed about Verizion dropping the D2 and releasing the D2 Global with better specs and is trying to get out of his 2 year contract and get a payday on top of it.

My devbox died aka laptop dis assembled laptop some of the ipc chips in the laptop came desoddred from the laptop. Took apart laptop. sence i dont have a gun with that small of a tip i reseated the chips and superglued them back to the motherboard. Going to take a soddering gun heat it up as much as possable and go over it like a oven bake to see if i can heat em up enough to make the tabs rejoin <3
will post pics up later its quit funny.
You could use a butane torch... You have to be very careful directing the heat and not keeping it one place too long. You have to fan the heat across the solder joints and be very patient. If you can find some solder paste, that would be of benefit as well. We used these things in the Navy for surface mount and micro-electronic repairs.

ya thats the issue i have atm is the spread between the joins is less then .5 across if that
you could take a car, run over the computer, and hope it gets reassembled.
you could take a baseball and hit it 100+ times and hope it works.
you can take a clothes iron and see what happens
you can take it to a computer repair store
you could buy a new computer(if you have the cash)
you can buy a cheap old processor and plug it into your tv.
EDIT: wait a sec, the clothes iron thing could be plausible ...

the chip you see to the left goes in the socket right beside the network jack.. Thats whats left of needing to be fixed.
anyways well the laptop doesnt work i can make it boot but it just hard locks fast because of the chips even tho they were resoddered... So updates will happen when i can get a new laptop or a chrome book like Sexton has. If you don't get updates anymore its been a wild ride i do jump in irc off my cellphone from time to time... I have been trying to use my moms laptop with a flash drive version of linux and a external usb hdd to do stuff with but it just is to slow and isnt really a optional dev platform.
Time to start the chrome book dev fund raiser.

Hello everyone as many of you know (or maybe not) I used to be an active member in here posting everywhere I could poke my head into... I even run the index (which I still have yet to add mokee and cm 13 its coming soon just shows how inactive I have been.) a while back ago I posted about breaking my Moto X Pure and it was even suggested I don't make this post because that post exists... (you can find that post here) Quite recently I managed to break this phone again. the first time the digitizer (or whatever the name is) stopped working from a small crack at the top of the screen... This time the digitizer stopped working but the whole screen was shattered.... I have been phoneless since Tuesday when I dropped it from waist height (I'm 5'3 waist height isn't that high) in a case on a flat surface... Instead of me going and replacing the screen AGAIN or buying a brand new phone (whats the point if they break so gosh darn easily) I forked up some money and bought myself a Gold Nexus 6p. I will still be maintaining the Index to best of my abilities however I think it is understandable if I am not as active as usual... Yes I have pictures no the person in the pictures is not me...

You could try adding some of that stuff used to repair cracks in windshields. Makes those nasty buggers just disappear. Worth a shot!
If you already have the tools, why not replace the screen again? you could buy 5 or 6 screens for the price of a new phone.

What case were you using? I'm figuring out which to buy right now and it'd be nice to know which ones to stay away from.
a case isn't gonna protect your screen from impact. you should still get a tempered glass screen protector
