[Discussion] One Plus 2 and Amplify - OnePlus 2 Themes and Apps

Hey folks,
I've been messing around with the OPT and amplify for quite a while now. Currently I've been able to get a good setup by using a OOS2.01 based rom, DespairKernel R8, Amlify, Greenify and PowerNap (30% battery loss from 8am-5pm).
But due to the reason that I've not found any device related setup I decided to create this thread.
I think it would be good if we share our experiences for archiving a better battery life for our beloved device.
My setup is founded on this thread:

[Q] Battery Questions

Hey everyone, I'm new here, as well as the "rooting community."
Well, here's the story. I rooted by HTC Sensation 4G and installed CyanogenMod 7.1 on it. My battery life has been very strange ever since. Sometimes it lasts forever on a single battery percent and then other times it rapidly drops. What causes this?
Also, the file attached is what my battery usage looks like.
(sorry I am restricted to posting the image link)
Why is it like this? Normally (before root), the display is at the top of the list.
Finally, if anyone could give tips (I know this is not the right section, but why make 2 topics?) on extending CyanogenMod's (or a rooted device, in general) battery life. I already have SetCPU profiles.
Thanks!
I had the same problem a few weeks ago. The massive battery drain was caused by a modem I flashed before with a different kernel.

What do you mean by modem?
There are different modems you may flash. Have a look at the android development sections.
Or maybe there are several background processes running.

[Q] What's the best kernel for battery life?

Hey guys. I have a VZW Galaxy SIII, as you know, and the battery life has been quite bad for the longest time. Any suggestions as to what kernel I should use? I'm currently running CM10.1.3, but I plan on updating to KitKang (Unofficial 4.4). Thanks!
This guys kernel is pretty good, i can get a full 8 hours or better depending on the type of usage.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1853816
Also you should go grab better battery stats. The developer posts a free version here on Xda. Use the app to test for wakelocks

Since we're suggesting apps Greenify works pretty good for me. Probably got me a couple more hours. It kind of works like Titanium Backup's freeze option. You choose what you want to greenify and it "freezes" them until you start them yourself. Then puts them back to sleep when you exit.
Don't know if you look but there's a ton of crap running that doesn't need to be all the time. Reminds me of msconfig.

"best" in roms and kernels is dependent on a variety of factors...to include settings and signal amongst other things.. Please take a look and try them all to determine what it is you need.
XDA is not a support site- users are expected to read and learn. Thread is closed.

(Q) Popular kernels?

Hello. I've been using faux kernel ever since I got my device. It just seemed to work and provide stability, smoothness and battery life. I like the app too.
But lately there has hardly been any updates, and my phone gets hot even when watching low quality YouTube videos, which in turn causes really bad battery drain. It's fine for light use, as I can easily get 4 hours+ s.o.t browsing Facebook and xda etc. Videos and games are a no no.
So, I want to try a more up to date and popular kernel.
My choices are Franco, Elemental and Trinity as they have the most xda thread views.
I want to know what's different about each one from peoples personal views. I'm not interested in which is "best".

Hi,
There is already a thread about kernels: Kernel discussions... You should find what you are looking for (or ask in the thread).
But better is still to test by yourself and make your own opinion.
Kernel does not affect battery life as much as you think, it depends way more on wakelocks/screen usage.
Of all the kernels I've tried on the Nexus 5, I've managed to get a whole day out of them with 3-4 hours of SoT and around 2 hours of music with the screen off. Deep sleep time with no wakelocks is also 1% battery loss over 12 hours.
I don't really have the time to test each kernel individually as doing so requires days if not weeks to draw out all the conclusions.
That thread you linked to returns an error "invalid thread id is 5"...

Works fine on a browser, Tapatalk does that sometimes with links.

Which kernel

Hi,
Should I root my nexus 5?
I still have a year warranty so...
Which kernel should I flash then : Franco Kernel, or Code Blue Kernel?
I am running lollipop 5.0.1 stock right now. Screen on 1/4 brightness, no location and WiFi turned off when I don't use it. Know I am getting around 12h battery life with 2-3h screen on time, would one of the kernels help with battery life? And how much? Will it be worth to void my guarantee for it?
Thanks in advance!

Questions belong in Q&A.
"Best" ROM.
There is no such thing as a best ROM. The question itself is ambiguous. "Best" is obviously a subjective term.
What I want from a ROM may well differ from what you want from a ROM, ergo - what is best for me could be worst for you.
If you are asking what the most popular ROMs are, or which ROMs people are using, you can see which threads stay around on the first few pages (and have the most posts) in the Android Development or Original Android Development forums. You can also see what other people are running by reading the What are you running on your Nexus 5 thread.
If you are asking which is the most stable, being a Nexus device - they're all pretty stable.
If you are asking which is best on Battery, ROMs only affect battery if they have a feature that is badly coded. You will likely be able to read about this in the ROM threads. ROMs do not impact battery life. The only impact to battery life are your apps, your settings, how you use the phone and mostly, environmental issues such as Phone Signal.
For tips about improving battery life, please read [Battery Life Help] Troubleshoot battery issues here!
"Best" Kernel
Also, please note that as above, "best" is still subjective. What we all want from a kernel is different. Again, many people have the misconception that Kernels affect battery life. Let's get this cleared up. Although Kernel devs will build in optimisations and efficiencies that will improve battery life, these are very, VERY tiny...and if 1 kernel has these optimisations, they likely all have.
People will often say "Kernel x is better than kernel y for battery life". This is actually wrong. Kernels respond to user settings. Setting up the governor to favour either battery life or performance is simple enough to do, you just have to do some learning. The reason people think Kernel x is better than y is because developers set their kernels up with their preferred governor settings. This is what we refer to as out-of-the-box settings. The out-of-the-box settings for kernel x may well produce better battery results than the out-of-the-box settings for kernel y, which favour performance. The fact is, you as the user have the ability to tune kernel x or y to perform the same, be that battery or performance - so start learning how to do this yourselves - that way, you can choose the kernel based on the FEATURES you want, and not the fictional performance benefits of one kernel over another.
Hi!
Thanks for taking your time and your explanation mate, you really helped me out! Think I am gonna see for Franco kernel, cause there are more users and more tweaking options to fit my wills.
Thanks again!

Anormal battery draining

Hi everybody !
I'm new on this forum, so please tell me if I do something wrong.
Since approximately one month I have problems with my Nexus 5's battery, and a poor screen-on time (+/- 45 min).
I run stock Lollipop 5.0, with ElementalX r70 kernel, and I have the MultiRom mod installed, which I use sometimes to try different ROMs.
I didn't notice differences between stock and custom ROMs, but I didn't try for a long time.
May someone be able to help me ?
My Nexus 5 is one year old, I hope I won't be obliged to change the battery.
Thank you.
The first way you need to do is checking your wakelock in detail by using some apps like GSam Battery Monitor, or Better Battery Stat, you can find them both in Play Store.
See the sticky, first four posts plus last few pages.
