So I've just got a note 3 LTE and I've got the font size on "tiny" so its the smallest one available, i'm not rooted and don't plan to root, and I want to stick by the stock launcher if possible, but is there anyway to make the icons and font smaller on the app drawer? Also is the option from the S4 available to hide icons as I can't find the setting if so.
thanks.
Stock launcher has no customisation options, so no.

Agree, your best option would be Nova Launcher https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher.prime
Apex does the trick too. I now have 5 icons per row at 85% of the original size and the difference is huge. Not rooted.

Just had a look at my friends Note 4 and notice that his app drawer is 5 apps wide while my Note Edge app drawer is only 4 app icons wide. Had a look through my settings but i cant find a way of expanding mine so that ill have less app drawer pages. Can anyone help?
he has most likely another launcher, where he is able to set the app dpi... ask him...
Both phones are running touch wiz as the launcher. He wouldnt know how to change launchers
So I was trying to import my TouchWiz Home settings to Nova, and while it seems to work, a ton of my icons get replaced with the android head icon. Wondering if anyone with an S8/+ has had this issue or has had success with importing TouchWiz home data with icons intact? I want to start using Nova, but I don't really want to have to rebuild my folders if I can avoid it.
If you're speaking about Samsung proprietary widgets, very often these can be used only on Touchwiz.
No, I'm speaking of the icons themselves - numerous apps lose their icons and turn into the Android head logo, but some don't. That's what I'm referring to - doesn't matter if it's on the homescreen in or in a folder, but it happens either way for many of them.

Correct, this way can work on widgets, but on Nova launcher the apps icons should always show.
I suspect the OP mistakes the widgets for apps.
I tried nova from scratch since it's never wise to import settings from an older phone+os. Then I didn't feel like setting things up again and decided to try samsung touchwiz first. Uninstalled nova and lost the paralax scrolling. Have an iphone for work so I can appreciate this option from samsung. Reinstalled nova and it was back.
Long story short, I flashed an older firmware to my phone and have everything working again. Without nova launcher.
This happens if you have custom icons from Samsung Themes. Just long press on the Android icon to change them back to stock icons or something else if you have downloaded icon packs

Is there a way to make this not happen if I switch back to stock icons?
I haven't tried, but I imagine if you switch back to stock icons in the Touchwiz launcher and then do the import in Nova, all of your icons should show

I've been a devout Nova Launcher user for 7+ years, but I have been trying to turn my S7E into a faux S8/N8 lately, and am actually really liking the TouchWiz experience — i really like a lot of the stock widgets and icons, so it feels good to keep it "lite" rather than having 7 or 8 different ZooperWidgets to replicate stock ones.
My one gripe is that only system apps come with well-designed icons. I'm currently using a custom theme from the theme store, but this only adds an addition 5 or so icons. I've tried using Icon Changer to create custom icons on the home screen, but they all have a grey border surrounding them. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to either A) implement icon packs from the Play Store into a TouchWiz-ready theme, or B) knows of an icon switching app that won't result in shortcuts having a grey border
TL;DR Is it possible to create app shortcuts on the home screen of TouchWiz using custom icons without a grey border? I don't want to use a custom launcher and I don't have root (although I am happy to root if it will allow for this).
You can use the icon changer free app. With this application you can make custom icons and you can use icon packs

Finally figured it out - had to revert to stock theme for Touchwiz, clear data and cache, turn icon frames off (it was greyed out with no option to switch them off), then go back to the theme I was using. Thanks everyone for your input!
if u have root then try this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.xperiacle.touchwiz.themer&hl=en

Have done this already
Still can't get icons to switch though... (I want to use the Google Messages app but have the Samsung app icon and notification badges...seems impossible!)

I want to disable the Samsung experience on my S8+ (on one ui) so I can use only a custom launcher. Sadly If i do this it removes the ability to use the recent tab. I know in android pie some launchers are able to have their own recents tabs, does anyone now how to use these?
No root please!
look at Nova launcher
