Hi, I am currently on xperia SP and its dying faster with each day. I am looking to upgrade to another xperia, with these 2 options.
What are pro's and con's of each?
Thanks!!
Go for z3. Better battery life and vfm.

Yes really
While my Z2 with its stock setup can easily hit 5hrs SOT and about 3 days of life
My z5 is a tad of a struggle to get past 4hrs SOT unless i want to run with some lag or some weirdness (cant record video with my corectl setup)

z3
pro=without a doubt.....better battery life, better development, and very cheap to buy
con=a year old, about to reach two years i guess
z5
pro=fingerprint scanner
con=battery life not better, less development (unless you planning to unlock the BL if you want root), and very expensive since its still pretty new
z3 is just better in my opinion
I came from Z2, went for Z5 and i noticed the battery is not better than my Z2.. Id be lucky to get 4-5 screen on time. I just bought Z5 because of the fingerprint scanner which is cool and doing so well. Though the camera is kind of disappointing.
The phone itself (z5) is slippery as its thinner. Performance is lag-free. Overheating? It gets hot but only if you are a hardcore gamer, which im not anyway.
Well in my opinion just get Z3 as its better overall average in terms of performance and price.
Do apps like Facebook and Snapchat work lag free?
Honestly, unless there's really a good reason for wanting an xperia, get something else

In that case I wouldn't think twice and go for Z5! Newer and support will be longer. Unless you don't have access to electricity each day than I don't think the battery is such an issue.

Really guys, whatever mob I have I always charge it overnight.
Good battery is those which last a day with all bells on (4G,viber, whatsup....etc everything on)

I would take the Z5 again if I could.. Fingerprint reader is the reason.

That's pretty good. If it's new - for 70% less I would instantly buy it and immediately sell it for a little more and get me a z(5-x).

Guys earlier I posted an unboxing video in another thread. That video is right here.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BryoOlaWQaU&feature=plcp
Then I spent the next 4 or 5 hours trying to get the freaking thing activated. That finally happened, but I haven't had much time with the phone. Anyways, here's a quick video showing the boot up, and some speed tests on 4G LTE. This phone is beast! (it may be sideways for a bit but I've rotated it to the right in Youtube, sometimes it just takes a while)

Feel free to ask questions, I can try to post more videos over the next couple days but my schedule is literally booked for the next 2 days so I'll do what I can.
Good job

It's looking like the Verizon version is going to have sweet sweet battery life!
The phone starts at about 50% and I still have stellar life out of that! I had rebooted it and connected it via usb to try and get adb shell. Otherwise it would show nearly 20hrs of battery at this point!

Have they fixed that 34ma battery drain issue yet? Officially? I'm a nexus dude but seriously considering returning it and getting in on one of these s3's. Just switched to Verizon and I love, love, love the network. Haven't been with vzw since '07.
I'd also like to know if there is still the bleeding/weeping/leakage of the back lights on the white version? Like there was on the white galaxy s 2.
Thanks.

I'm not aware of this battery drain issue you speak of. If it exists on my phone, I can obviously obviously with it. The cell standby numbers are way too high, especially considering I was on full LTE coverage all night. My epic4g had a similar issue and it was fixed via software fairly quickly.
Mine is blue so I can't comment on your other question. Yes, the Verizon network is AWESOME!

"The cell standby" that is the Battery drain issue he is referencing, it is not really a "real" drain issue, more a reporting issue.
Even with the drain issue that battery life is awesome. Thank you for posting your initial thoughts and battery stats.
After I get fully charged up again today I will leave it off any charge and post the full drain stats.

I am nexus...er, ...nexusian? Nexian? idk, im forever bought into its ecosystem. Google owns me basically, nexus lines is jsut what i look for in a phone, simplicity, no flashy flashy, no competition and key/relevant features. Im never going back to another phone after the nexus 4/5, its a no regret phone for me.

Search the forums and decide for yourself.. After all you are in the Nexus 5 forums so most probably everyone's opinion would be biased.
Here is a topic you might consider reading: Would You Guys Still Recommend the Nexus 5?
That being said, Personally I don't have any regrets buying this phone as it's DEVELOPMENT friendly
If you every conside the z1 compact, then you may not suitable to get a Nexus device. Conside that the nexus line are talk about baseline android experience, which other device give you a more complete package with add on from the manufacturer.
32gb bright red with no regrets!
It's not a perfect phone, but I never had any doubts or regrets buying it. Happy owner of white 32GB version
My only regret is not buying the red version, but who would have saw that coming on launch day?

not true, unless youre just an inexperienced user that knows nothing about setting up your own phone and taking care of it. no bugs here, camera works perfectly(and is an awesome camera). and battery life is great, i get 5-6 hours screen on time without doing anything to try to get better battery life.
No regrets. I'm quite pleased with this device. Looks good and functions well.

Bought this phone by virtue of my HTC One had to be sent for repairs.
After about a week of usage think I'll be selling of my One once it comes back.
Amazed by the simplicity of the stock android albeit I miss some of the apps and UI of the HTC but most can be downloaded from the Store. The Nexus is snappier and much smoother and fluid.
Battery is better on the Nexus,I'm impressed. Camera too is better especially in low light conditions. What I miss most is the frontal speakers of the One with Boom base..compared to the puny speakers on the Nexus 5..but I guess we can't have it all..so in conclusion.. no regrets!

Absolutely not , no regrets at all. I am a proud owner of this beast.
poor battery
I don'r regret at all. I bought 16GB black version of it,because 32GB version wasn't being sold then, but it's absolutely doesn't make me any problem because I don't play HD games that requires a lot of free space at all,and now i'm having 8.80GB free.:good:
If about battery it's would the weakest Nexus 5 point but I can live with that because I'm enjoying on using my Nexus 5 everyday and still can't get enough of it,because it's amazing! :good:

Near 100%... Just waiting for the darn thing to release somewhere, so that I can buy it. I think I will most likely get it from http://www.handtec.co.uk/
If not them, never-msrp if they drop the price a bit, $799 is a bit high, when I can get it from handtec for 700 shipped from UK to the states...

Me too, I suppose. I'll be using T-Mobile for the foreseeable future, and I'd like to have its LTE supported. For the record, am I going to be able to buy the Z3 contract-free from T-Mobile?
I was too sad with z1 and I bought a Lumia 1020. I won't but again a Sony, very good material but camera in low light conditions is poor and the updates suck ! Sorry mate

I don't see why not, they really don't have contracts anymore anyway. But if you are saying buy it outright instead of the add to your monthly bill, I'm pretty sure you'd be able to.
I too will probably get it for T-Mobile, more so for Wi-Fi calling unless it's possible to put T-Mobiles Z3 firmware on my Z2 and get it to work
if the verizon rumors are true, ill be getting one. but it needs to be released within 2 months.......
I'll be getting one! From Samsung Galaxy S4.
Hopefully it'll worth the swap.

I think this is Exynos but I cannot be certain. Any application I use to check the specs comes back as "Processor Unknown"
In regards to the pictures, all I can say is the first few were taken in extremely dark environments and whilst I was pleased with the results when viewing on screen, when enlarged they are not fantastic.
HOWEVER I don't think I have ever used a camera on a smartphone as good as this in low light. In normal lighting conditions, the 6S Plus (my daily driver) seems better but this is without extensive testing, the S7 really shines in low light situations.
It's as great camera and I doubt anybody will have any issues with its performance.
In regards to the S7 itself, there is the occasional lag on the operating system however all in all it builds on last year and it's much smoother.
I've owned every Galaxy S device, and by far this is the best generation but anybody coming from an S6 will struggle to be excited. It's certainly not as fluid as a 6P, which I have owned too.

I would think because that is how most people actually take pictures when it is dark... So it is a real world test, not some theoretical/lab nonsense.

Really for a low light test you really shouldn't be using the flash lol.
Maybe so, but pretty much everyone I know leaves the settings all on auto, which usually uses the flash when it's dark.

i can also say the edge screen isn't giving that multi touch palm issue any more. Im glad to see that fixed as well.
I'm afraid to do the update since they say it cannot be rolled back
if you are looking for any root in the future i would suggest holding back from updates
I updated and so far cpuspy says deep sleep instantly as soon as screen is off and dont see any wakelocks so far. I disabled junk and uninstalled stuff I dont need and removed notifications for any games(I just check my games and weather manually). So far no android system drain at all in 15m on battery. I updated 30min ago then fast charged.

Battery has been good since updating this morning. I normally get 9 SOT. I'm down to 83 percent and already have 2 hours SOT. Can't wait to see how this pans out in a few days!
Has anyone checked if this update unlocked the bootloader?
That first update knocked out 2.4ghz wireless reliability, I wonder if this will fix it! *fingers crossed*
My battery and camera have been great! I haven't had a low-light picture that was amazing yet, but that's not their fault!

Screen sensitivity fixed here as well. It so much easier typing now. Also my palm resting on the edge no longer makes the screen go unresponsive.
Android System battery drain also fixed.

I'm in the same boat. All these reports of improved battery life and smoothness/camera/touch screen makes it harder to wait. I figure if you're content with the battery life then just wait it out. I hope potential root would yield better results than any update [emoji41]
