Galaxy S6 Duos Marshmallow doesnt show caller's name from address book - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
New Galaxy S6 Duos doesn't show names from address book, just the phone number.
The problem exists for two different mobile operators.
No duplicate entries in Address book.
Address book is set to show only names from Google account.
Full factory reset, deleting Google account didn't help
All phone numbers are written in the format: +XXX XX XXX XXX
Worked fine on several different phones.
Numbers written in the format 0 XX XXX XXX are recognised and name from Address book is shown.
Bug in the dialer SW?
Any help will be appreciated!

Hi,
Thanks for your feedback!
In the meantime I managed to upgrade to latest FW using Smart Switch (not sure what Emergency Recovery is).
Now I have:
Android version: 6.01
Baseband version: G920FXXU3DPBT
Build Number: MMB29K.G920FXXS3DPDH
I was very optimistic when I saw new version exists, however the problem still here (
Don't know if I should start all over again... factory resets, Google account deletion, etc...

When you're in the Smart Switch app, in the top right corner there's "MORE" click on it then click on "Emergency software recovery and initialization" then you'll see two tabs, click on "Device initialization" and follow the steps.
Your phone must be in download mode and must be connected to the computer, it doesn't have to show you that your phone is connected, just proceed.
Good luck.

You're right, yesterday I did "Emergency Software Recovery", not "Device initialization"
Today tried Device initialization.
Couldn't go through checking Model name and Serial number.
It keeps saying: Please check model name and S/N, and enter them again.
Btw if I intentionally misspell SN, message is different: Unable to find model name, S/N... on the server...
I took S/N from label on the back, also checked via *#06#, they coincide. It's S/N, not IMEI
One more detail. Back label says model name is: SM-G920FD, while in Settings it's: SM-G920F.
Smart Switch doesn't recognize SM-G920FD, only SM-G920F.

It says SM-G920F because you probably have a ROM which is for this model and yours is supported.
Eh, you sure you typed the correct S/N with CAPS? (Do it with caps)

I saw somewhere mentioning the bug Samsung SW incorrectly identifying phone model, this could explain...
I tried SN many times, with CAPS, yes.
I definitely put it right, I think it was recognised but was associated with different phone model.
As I said, when I intentionally misspelled it the error message appeared immediately.

After (quite) some time the picture is more clear now )
The problem was resolved only after I flashed European firmware.
Recently I bought S8 (SM-G950FD, region BRI - Taiwan) - the same problem. And the same scenario - nothing helped until I flashed European fw.
Looks like Asian Contacts app cannot parse correctly phone numbers that look like +[country code] XXXXXXXXX, while European app can.

No CDMA (GSM/LTE) after typing *#0909# and selecting option in DIAG CONFIG

Hey guys,
I recently bought an old Samsung Galaxy S4 Active SGH-i537 (AT&T) stock Android 4.4.2 - detailed specs at the end of this post.
>>>> This is my problem. <<<<
My GSM and LTE doesn't work any more. The phone says there is no SIM-Card, though I inserted a working Simple Mobile SIM (T-Mobile network). Moreover calling, texting via SMS and mobile data (Internet) do not work. :crying:
It seems also strange to me that the entry in "About Device -> Baseband-Version" is set to "Unknown" (see also below under "Phone Specs").
>>>> What happened <<<<
I opened the dialer and typed in *#9090#. A new Window "DIAG CONFIG" popped up. I selected
1 DM/DUM over HS-USB(*)
in the menu. After that the other menu points disappeared and the mobile carrier icon (http://appcrawlr.com/thumbs/app/icon/86/3336286.png) changed to a no-connection sign (http://www.clker.com/cliparts/2/3/2/5/1194984827960120970no.svg.med.png). When I type in *#9090# the "ServiceMode" window pops up but without any menu items.
>>>> That's why I did the *#9090# thing <<<<
I updated from Stock Android 4.4.2 to Stock Android 5.0.1 (Lollipop) keeping my root-access following this instruction:
http://www.droidviews.com/update-to-lollipop-and-root-att-galaxy-s4-active-sgh-i537/
The installation and everything went just fine. But I couldn't use my Mobile Internet any more, though it had worked on Android 4.4.2 perfectly. So I flashed back to the old Android 4.4.2 and it worked again. I thought there had to be some kind of AWS/LTE-locking in the stock Android 5.0.1 firmware. After some searching on the Internet I came to the conclusion that there has to be a LTE locking on the phone. So I tried this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441211
But it didn't work for me (probably because Samsung locked the firmware). Till then my GSM/LTE still worked!
Afterwards I tried the *#9090# think (I got it from this post: https://disqus.com/home/discussion/droidview/how_to_sim_unlock_t_mobile_038_at038t_galaxy_s4_sgh_m919_sgh_i337/#comment-1604470770) and that was the thing, that made my GSM/LTE not work any more.
Flashing the phone with Odin (same 4.4.2 stock ROM) didn't change the problem.
I know this was stupid.
But please help me. This is my only phone and without it I have no connection to my family and friends. :crying:
Thank you so much in advance! (And sorry for my bad English. I'm trying to improve. :angel

[Completed] Samsung Galaxy S5: Model number is SM-G900F in About device but SM-G900P in Odin mode

This is a bizarre situation. I bought a Samsung Galaxy S5 from a local store, and clearly it was used as it was not in its original box and accessories. Well the price was cheap, so I did not mind. The phone is original, I can confirm, however there is a strange issue. In the 'About device' it is written that the phone is a SM-G900F model, while under the battery there is the sticker with GT-S5830i (yes Galaxy Ace !!!) with a wrong IMEI and S/N. Furthermore, the phone was rooted I checked with two apps from the playstore. The phone had an issue as well, I can see in the background all the time a VERY faint image of the Easy mode, and interestingly I cannot get into Easy mode. So I thought to flash a latest firmware downloaded from sammobile (of course the SM-G900F version). However the flashing process keeps failing. And to my surprise in the Odin mode, it says: Product name: SM-G900P. So, I have a S5 which is a Sprint variant and unlocked but says it is the International variant in 'About Device"?
My questions are:
1. How can I get the latest firmware and updates from Samsung (OTA updates)?
2. How can I remove the root?
3. If I have update the firmware manually using Odin, which one should I download, the SM-G900P version or the SM-G900F version (this had no success)?
3. Will updating the firmware cause the phone to be locked again?
4. What should I really do? I know I can complaint to the seller, but I am curious about this situation.
NOTE:
Bootloader: G900PVPU2B0D3
Build ID: KOT49H.G900FVPU1AND2
Baseband version: G900FVPU1AND2
Kernel version: 3.4.0-964333

CSC Code for BTU

I got a EE (EVR) Serial Number to flash onto my phone so I could have WiFi Calling, however I realised that I will have to wait a long time for Android 6 to come, or any updates.
Does anyone have an BTU Serial Number I could use for Smart Switch to flash back onto my phone please?
I tried using Odin to put BTU on, but I got a NAND Write error, and I had to use Smart Switch to put it back.
My phone came with BTU, but my Serial Number shows VIR for Virgin Media
Hi,
I doubt someone is willing to give up their serial to be honest, sorry.
Have you tried smart switch emergency recovery software?

920i - no sim/no registered network after marshmallow update

Hi,
This is my first post but, I'm an avid lurker. I am having some issues with my girlfriends 920i. It received an OTA update to marshmallow and ever since it won't read the Sim card. I've tried to flash the official fw through Odin and still having the same problem. Because it doesn't read my Sim card, I have zero access to any mobile network settings.
I am wondering if when they updated the marshmallow, I lost unlock capability.
Also, her imei and sn still match. Most of the problems I see people have are mismatched numbers, and her phone seems fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
So, I checked the firmware that I flashed and it was INS which seems to be the locked version.
I flashed the INU firmware this morning but still not reading my SIM.
I'm out of options at this point, I'm going to go back to lollipop and see how that goes.
Hi,
I am having this issue for my SM G-920I since 2/3 Jan, 2017. I am using fine on US Tmobile network since Oct 2015, but all of a sudden got the no SIM, emergency calls only and continues to stay like this.. I am curious to know if you resolved the issue and how. Thanks for any feedback!
Help me please
I'm having the same issue. Just flashed INS 6.0.1 firmware on my brand new G920I and now i can't get any mobile signal or data. Tried to flash ZTO firmware for my country, but same issue. My phone was fine before flashing INS firmware. IMEI it's fine too. Recovery shows: Applied multi-csc. What can i do? ((((((((((

Already updated and tried to downgrade to 5.1.1, but no sucess. I don't think it's a hw problem, cause it was working before the INS firmware flash, and IMEI number still shows right, no matter what rom i flash (now on MIUI). Can i clean EFS partition and try to flash ZTO firmware again, or i might lost my IMEI and get more problems? Also, wondering if advanced wipe with everything checked on TWRP can help. (data, internal storage, system, sbfs, cache, dalvik cache)
Can you open the phone dialer and enter this code *#*#4636#*#* then clikc Phone Information, and send a screenshot of what you see in the screen (Make sure no IMEI in the screenshot, before you post it here) ? Also check if Radio is OFF or ON.

Codes on my dialer doesn't work, but i'm sure the IMEI is right cause it's showing in phone information. Also, radio is on cause when i search for mobile networks the carriers of my country appears on the screen but when i click on then, just appears a message saying that can't connect
Same problem, any solutions?
I had same issue for over a year, you can check details in my thread, resolved by factory warranty motherboard replacement (free of charge, even thou knox was tripped when I bought it, and I told lady in authorised repair shop that i don`t have warranty).
Forgot to mention that I also tried to repair it via Octoplus box, both by me and some other people (wanted a second opinion), DRK fixed, few new certs written, etc.), not only by flashing fw via Odin or Smart Switch.
And I was 99% sure it was hw, turns I was right.
P.S. country dependable: - in some countries they will probably want to sell you a new motherboard in Samsung (happened to me), but in other factory warranty will be accepted (probably, if the phone is not older than 3 yrs I guess)

[Completed] am I victim of IMEI spoofing ?

Hello everyone.
Sorry if my questions are silly, I'm quite new here... and I need some explanations.
I bought a phone ( reconditioned, on PriceMinister) that I'm having some trouble with.
The main issue is that IMEI (MEID) written on the back of the phone does not match the one shown when i dial *#06#. Still, the S/N is the same.
Also the model written on the back ( SM-G920F ) does not match the one when I enter Odin mode, ( SM-G920P)
1) Is it safe to name my IMEI N° here or elsewere on the net ?
2) Is it possible that I changed this IMEI myself, being unaware of what I was doing while flashing TWRP, or some ROM that I randomly tried ??
3) What tools can I use in order to know what is really the model of my phone ( TWRP SM-G920F alias zerolfte does not work, but zerofltespr does. Still the Pi3 ROM works when I state the model being SM-920F !)
Thank you for your suggestions.

Greetings and welcome to xda. You shouldn't share your IMEI number anywhere on the internet and you are right to be suspicious, youe IMEI number shouldn't be changed. This app here
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo&hl=en_GB
will give you all the original info on your phone
Good Luck
