Hello everyone.
Sorry if my questions are silly, I'm quite new here... and I need some explanations.
I bought a phone ( reconditioned, on PriceMinister) that I'm having some trouble with.
The main issue is that IMEI (MEID) written on the back of the phone does not match the one shown when i dial *#06#. Still, the S/N is the same.
Also the model written on the back ( SM-G920F ) does not match the one when I enter Odin mode, ( SM-G920P)
1) Is it safe to name my IMEI N° here or elsewere on the net ?
2) Is it possible that I changed this IMEI myself, being unaware of what I was doing while flashing TWRP, or some ROM that I randomly tried ??
3) What tools can I use in order to know what is really the model of my phone ( TWRP SM-G920F alias zerolfte does not work, but zerofltespr does. Still the Pi3 ROM works when I state the model being SM-920F !)
Thank you for your suggestions.

Greetings and welcome to xda. You shouldn't share your IMEI number anywhere on the internet and you are right to be suspicious, youe IMEI number shouldn't be changed. This app here

In July I went to New York and bought an Galaxy S4 i9500 and messing around with the device I corrupt the EFS folder losing my IMEI.
Since it wasn't bought on my country (Brazil) I don't have any support nor warranty so I send it to a friend who owns a service box ( octopus probably) and flashing the ROM he asked me what is the country of origin of my device, since I bought in the US and this model in particular isn't supposed to be selled there I don't know wich country it came from and can't fix my device. The back label says it was made in china but i guess every other phone in the world was made there too .
(I bought it from the Samsung stand in the 5th ave Best Buy so it is original)
No problem
In phone setting option there is baseband version and build number from there you can find out where the device is from originally manufactured.
But now I think you have flashed other firmware and that original information is gone.Corruption of efs folder can be from many ways either flashing roms or wiping full internal memory by not following appropriate methods corectly.
You could have make efs backup in first place before experimenting with the phone.
But now you can try the following methods.
Try to flash latest modem to see if it help through odin.
One other method is that you can find your country of origin by your imei no which is on the box. Just call or email Samsung customer service in your country, I did in my case and they can tell you from the imei number the country of origin.

Ok Try to flash stock firmware and see if it helps and do tell me if you succeed.
You should be able to flash a stock firmware through ODIN and have the phone working again.
Then as mentioned above, before doing any work on the phone you should do a EFS backup, nandroid backup.
I remember with my previous phone (Galaxy Infuse) i was learning also how to root, tweak, modify the android and also "killed it". I was able to resurrect (in a manner of speak) the phone by loading the stock firmware the phone had when i first got it.
Good luck!
My friend said he repaired the device through the octopuss box and are sending me back. He couldnt upgrade to 4.3 because he didnt know the country of origin (like I said before). I call samsung to ask if they could say to me but here in Brazil the only company that really helps trough phone is Blizzard so I ended where I started. I found a website that using your serial number or IMEI can say where your device are from and I for my surprise it is indeed a chinese Galaxy S4. In Sammobile I found the CHN firmware that matched the time of fabrication (July) and probably its the stock firmware that I was looking for and one of the ones that I didnt tried to flash at the time.
The thing is now I'm too scared to try flashing this one to my mobile and ending ruining the device again and once more being forced to use my old ****ty iPhone. Any sugestions for me guys? (The device didnt arrive yet... i knew the serial and IMEI 'cause i noted down)
You don't have to flash firmware for country of origin. I'm in New Zealand and flash firmware from all over the world, the latest was UK firmware, with a modem extracted from Austrian firmware.
Just go to sammobile and make sure it's for i9500 and you'll be fine mate

What is the serial number of your phone? You can find it by beneath the battery or in settings, about device, status.

It's below the battery, next to the IMEI. It is a combination of letters and numbers and looks like this "S/N: XXXXXXXXXXX" (X= Letter/number)

You are probably right but right now I a little afraid of flashing anything to my device since it just got home from repair.
I gonna stick with 4.2.2 a little longer
Guys really need help here, I just got a used indonesian g930fd (strangely it shows g930f on phone info) which keep restarting itself after upgrading to nougat (OTA). Also even if I already "power off" the phone, it still restarting (or booting?).
I've tried to factory reset from recovery, still keep restarting. Btw at first factory reset, somehow data partition got corrupted then second one success. Also when my data partition corrupted, the phone doesnt restart/on by itself like I mentioned before, so seems firmware related issue instead of hardware.
I also tried to go to two samsung service center, because first one somehow tell my imei is from singapore and second center tell mine is fro arab (wth) so I can't claim warranty eventho still below 1 year.
My question is:
1. Does reflashing stock (7.0) firmware will fix it?
2. Why phone info show my phone model as SM-G930F instead of G930FD?
3. Is it possible to change Product Code? rite now my product code is definitely Indonesian (SM-G930FZDUXID), originical CSC blank, everything else XID / Indonesia . I kinda have doubt now because two service centers tell different country, also sticker on back cover somehow tell its G930F, and print one on glass cover G930FD
Mind me if these question alrd asked before, but I already tried to search and googled everything and Im still lost here.
here's my firmware information from *#1234#
AP: G930FXXU1DQE7
CP: G930FXXU1DQD7
CSC: G930FOLE1DQCV
Model: SM-G930F/DS

Thanks a lot!

Hi mate
Well mate , F and FD models have the same hardware and and use the same firmware , only difference is the SIM tray , they are different to fit one or or two sim cards depending on the models.
The model number is written in the build.prop ( do not know if somewhere else) if it only written there phoneinfo can be fooled , you can double check it by checking your IMEI at this site or other similar
http://www.imei.info/
It will tell you to what phone that IMEI was issued to. Check also with phoneInfo if the phone is original or refurbish
to your questions:
1. Does reflashing stock (7.0) firmware will fix it?
Is a good chance it will, if there is no hardware issues
2. Why phone info show my phone model as SM-G930F instead of G930FD?
do not know , check by your IMEI to see what the real model is
3. Is it possible to change Product Code? rite now my product code is definitely Indonesian (SM-G930FZDUXID), originical CSC blank, everything else XID / Indonesia . You can flash any F firmware with the desire CSC code , just download the firmware and flash it using CSC and not home_csc

Thanks for ur response! It's still original from phone info, now not tho since I already flashed new firmware.
Things that I already did:
1. Flashing two same 7.0 nougat for Indonesian version (updato and sammobile)
2. Tried entering recovery mode while charging to check if battery dead, result can't enter recovery mode means battery should be fine.
3. Checking serial number with Smart Switch somehow tell me it's from Arab. I can't restore tho since it keep restarting.
And restart issue still there. One thing for sure it does heat up everytime. While on odin mode, it never restart tho. I still can't find the problem
Is there chance for any other hardware failure somehow aside battery? Thanks!

Hi
It's still original from phone info, now not tho since I already flashed new firmware.
The original check in phoneinfo is regarding the hardware , it has nothing to do with the firmware also you can flash a different firmware to your phone and would be still original
1. Flashing two same 7.0 nougat for Indonesian version (updato and sammobile)
What files did you flash?
2. Tried entering recovery mode while charging to check if battery dead, result can't enter recovery mode means battery should be fine.
Not sure what you mean ...if you cant enter recovery while charging means battery is fine, that makes no sense, i doubt your issue is battery
3. Checking serial number with Smart Switch somehow tell me it's from Arab. I can't restore tho since it keep restarting.
I said check your IMEI to see to what device was asigned to , to see if it was assigned to a G930F or G930FD
Is there chance for any other hardware failure somehow aside battery?
motherboard...but if before of OTA was working fine i would think more in a firmware issue

Good morning XDA,
I'm in desperate needing help, sorry but English is not my first language.
My brother bought a S7 G930F - Exynos that was GSM locked with one company here in Brazil, so he paid a guy to unlock it.
After getting the phone back I notice that the phone now shows G930FD, when I use *#06# to see the IMEI, shows two number, as if it was Dual SIM and both numbers are different that what is written in the back of the phone and the box and the rom seem to be 6.01 but with a lot of programs pre-installed.
So I downloaded the newest ZTO stock rom from SamMobile and flashed, now the phone is on 7.0 but can't connect to the network and still show the tow differents imei numbers.
Any tips or guidance and how can I Solve this?
Thanks, TggB!

I am in need of some help. I have a galaxy s7 that the efs files have been deleted, therefore, it wont connect to any network as well as unknown base band. when i type in *#06# mt imei number is null (all zeros). I have tried flashing stock firmware onto the device but that doesnt help. I dont know which combination binary software to install because i dont know the correct pda for the device. i am looking for any help to fix this problem.
note: i have another s7 with all the files i think i need, is there anyway to swap the files into the toher device and have it generate its original imei number ?

You need a backup of the efs folder of that device. If you never did one using a custom recovery like TWRP you are doomed. I believe that there are boxes like the Octopus one that, if you know the imei of the device they can flash that partition/folder and assign the device its imei once again. I don't know if the official service will be willing or able to fix the imei issue, I would suggest reaching out to them and ask.

Hello everyone, recently I've flashed the Superman ROM V.3.0.1 on my S7 Edge and everything was fine until I went to general settings on my phone and saw my IMEI is now UNKNOWN. I know this thread may be already solved, and yes, these days I was looking for answers for my problem but I need to know for sure what alternatives I have to recover my IMEI. I have to mention, my phone is 100% original, it has its own IMEI from the beginning, not a copy or MTK device. I saw some sollutions based on some kind of programs to restore manually the IMEI with a command, and this method for me it's not like the best thing to do in this situation..
When I am dialing *#06# I receive the following information: " SM-G935F is not supported on showIMEI ".
I've checked through TWRP ( version 3.1.1.0 ) the partition EFS, is still there ( it has 2mb ). What do you guys think about this? Flashing the stock ROM from sammobile may solve my problem? What alternatives do I have?
Thank you!
