Gear 2 installing R732XXU2CPC5 - Samsung Gear 2

Is it possible, or has anyone tried to install R732XXU2CPC5 on the GEAR 2?

Not sure if the lack of response means no one has tried this or it's just not possible, or no one but me cares?

I think this forum and watch is dead long time ago, but you're free to try it. I think that in worst case scenario, you can always flash the stock over and your watch is back to normal.

I've been waiting for Samsung to release the ios app to see if there was any way possible it would work on my iPhone. Right now my Gear 2 is still stock. I guess if the new app doesn't work I might try and start jail breaking it and download the update to it.
I'm a little concerned with messing it up in case I just want to sell it to someone with a Samsung phone. It's too bad because it's really a nice watch.

App Failed to install

I have had some limited success installing apps. I got the sleep one to install (b4 they took it off the market) and a clockface. But any others I try just download and give me the app failed to install. (news feeder and the 360 one) everything else is working on My gear 2. Not a huge deal now as I am just testing it out, there are no good apps out yet. But I was trying to get it straight before the avalache of awesome apps starting coming in im sure here real shortly right. Anyone had similar issues?
I never had the gear 1 or followed it, how long before we got root and cool support/apps for it. anyone know? Of course this being one of the first Tizen products I would expect it to take longer.

I have a Note 3 and have the same problem. I have reset both my phone and the Gear to factory defaults and have no luck. Fitness with Gear will synchronize fine, but I cannot install any apps.

[Q] Keyboard for Gear 2

I am trying to be patient for Flesky to come out, but When you read the internet about the gear 2, they were many articles saying that it was coming stock with the app or that it would even be available. This is exactly why I bought the watch. Is there anybody working on another keyboard or alternative to Flesky since they are dragging major butt on the development?

You could try to install the Tizen default one

Honestly its a joke, they have been saying a keyboard will be out soon but thats been months. I hope some competition releases one before they do now. I can empathize with the problems of creating one but then you should not demo and advertise knowing your no way close to completion. Even Beta isnt out yet.

Most recent update

How do I get the most recent update? My Gear Manager shows I'm up to date but I haven't updated in a while.
Not sure I have the same issue
I am having the same issue. What version of Gear Plugin and Samsung Gear app are you using. I am using 2.2.16070451 for the Samsung Gear app. And 2.2.03.16071152 for the Gear Plugin.
That's the same version I have this is weird
---------- Post added at 01:43 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:42 AM ----------
I am seeing so many articles talking about the update and download and I don't even have the update keeps saying I currently up to date
Has anyone for this update yet?
I have the same problem. My Gear s2 is the "regular" version (not a carrier version and not the classic). Also using 2.2.16070451 Gear app. & 2.2.03.16071152 Gear Plugin.
I'm not for sure that anyone has this update

I'm not sure because there isn't a single video about the update no one talking about the update if they have its a very few that have it for some reason
whats weird is i received an update the day that i saw an a article saying a big update is being rolled out. but i have the same version as the above, so who knows what update i received. or what it does. maybe its an update to prepare for the big update, to make sure our phones and watches will be able to take it with minimal issues. just guessing,

The only update I got was the watch app update. Not the actual watch update though. Maybe that's the problem? Maybe it see's the app updated and thinks the watch is updated as well?
It's crazy because I haven't seen a video on YouTube about the update I got the Samsung pay update which updated the gear app but have not received an update for the watch itself
Called Samsung and they said I should definitely have had the update from the 15th and did verify that my phone still has the old firmware. They could not help me over the phone and told me to take it to a Samsung shop at Best Buy. I will do that today and see what happens.

Haha, that's not gonna result in anything. Just have to be patient, like any update, they roll them out in stages over time.

Yep went to the Samsung shop and they are complete and utter morons. Totally incompetent. All they did was make it so I had to reinstall all my watch-faces and the phone app now gives me an error when I try to re-order apps and crashes. She couldn't even understand what I was talking about regarding a firmware update for the watch. No matter what way I tried to explain it over and over. Such a difference between Apple support and Samsung so called "support". What a joke. Now I am worse off from when I started. No update and and the app now crashes. Great, Looks like I'll be trading this in for a Android Wear watch when the new ones come out.
Finally got the update! Samsung support still sucks though. Hope this fixes the broken app issue that they broke.
Got mine today
Got my official update last week and it bricked my watch. Now in boot loop and under recovery menu factory reset is missing, only download, which as far as i can tell is totally useless and shut down. So have to take it to the 4th Samsung shop, the ones i have been at are of no help.
So nice, thank you for the OFFICIAL wonderful update, be careful, it could turn your watch into a bracelet.
Yeah I now have no faith in their support. The app is still broken and Samsung doesn't seem to give a damn let alone be able to fix it. I hope my S7 Edge has no problems until I pay it off. If a company cannot provide support or is unwilling to do so, there is no reason to purchase their products, plain and simple. Not getting the Gear S3 when it comes out which I was going to do, not getting the Tab S3 when that comes out which I was also going to do. I'll go with an Android Wear 2.0 watch when they start hitting stores and keeping my Ipad Air 2.

root access to S8 or S8+

does any know if s8 or s8+ can be rooted?
are there plans to do this or does samsung now block this?
some tools titanium backup et.al. need root access
Yeah I also want to root it. Plz anyone tell the method.
Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
Won't be a method until it's released, then I'm certain the devs here will start cracking on it. Give time, the guys here are pretty good at what they do but there's still no guarantee root will be achieved (US models that is).

Root will happen
(If not I'll be suprised)
Look at s7 edge (exynos) if you want to have the approximate method.
Once twrp is released, I bet around the beginning of Mai, you will be able to install it using Odin (breaks knox, s pay, etc)
From there you'll be able to flash whatever you want (magisk, SuperSU, etc)
Edit:
Although I just stumbled over this:
Quote:
Finally, the Exynos 8895 also includes what Samsung is calling an “enhanced security sub-system with a separate security processing unit” for use with user authentication, mobile payments, and the like. Based on Samsung’s description this sounds a heck of a lot like Apple’s Secure Enclave, which would be a very welcome development, as in Apple’s case it has made their phones a lot harder to break into.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/11149/...-8895-soc-10nm
yeah, saw on their website that encryption layers are going to be a lot stronger. I still think it'll be cracked. It's a large enough phone. just might take longer than normal.
Even root on Verizon's locked bootloader?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Yea root not enough for me, also need unlocked bootloader
geez the phones not even out yet. Gotta give the devs time to get there hands on the phone, then time to actually find a way to root it.
Would it be wise to right off the bat unenable automatic downloads of "Security Update: Improves Performance and Battery" in case someone finds a way to Root and they slip in an irreversible Firmware Update?
I bought this phone knowing it's going to be at least a year before at minimum root being achieved
if at all ,so I'm not getting my hopes up at all
This phone might be the straw the breaks the developers backs
I only needed a rooted phone for ARU unchained anyway ,but since the area51 got it to work unrooted
I can afford to wait

i mean yea, kinda, but your not gonna get updates. Personally I am just gonna update my phone, and hopefully they find a way to root. My biggest concern is using samsung pay with my Gear S3, while having my phone rooted. idk if that will be possible so until then im just gonna wait.

What do you mean? Even my Note 4 after ages waiting for the newest Android (Lollipop and Marshmallow) and nothing else for some suspicious reason recently they have been pushing updates pretty regular with the exact same description I posted, "improves performance and enhances battery life" or some $h!t which from experience these updates definitely do NOT do anything of the sort so it makes you wonder…

I hear you, preference I guess, I just like being up to date. I find that sometimes you are unable to use certain features without the updates.
I have the note 4 myself, and the only update that was a problem with that phone was MM, you could not downgrade from it. I have the AT&T variant so, no root access, and the current temp root that they have listed on the forums is not viable because your only temp rooted on experimental testing firmware.
The main feature you'll be missing out on is Bixby most likely, idk how good it will be or how bad, but you'll be behind that, apparently Bixby is not finished yet, and will not be shipped with the phone, at least not the complete version.

Haha, Buzby (as I call it) is the one INTRUSION I do NOT want!! Never asked for it, just forced upon us. This would be great, but I suspect the Phone already has Bixby embedded into it, what with all the hype (publicity for it) about it not functioning at launch I believe is a marketing ploy to bring attention to it. The part that is not being made available at launch is their end, nothing to do with needing an update for it to work (for those who blindly want it).
See, you watch, they will make such a big deal, like a major announcement when it is made to function and they "switch on their Bixby servers" it'll be posted all over the web like when the Note 7 fiasco (supposedly) happened.
Stop for second. And think. THINK. For yourself. That right there is invaluable advice. Bixby is not your friend.

Gear app and rooted devices

Hello!
Just got a Gear Fit 2 Pro. Although it looks like an awesome device, imagine my surprise when I found out I can't use it with my rooted HTC 10...
Before selling it (anybody wants one? Been worn for half an hour or so!), I wanted to make sure I've got it right. I've seen the thread over at https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...d-samsung-gear-app-android-n-samsung-t3547035 and used the apps - and they work on my phone.
However, the thread states that the app is now compatible on Play and was closed - hence, no more updates... Is this the case? Am I missing something? How can I continue to get updates?
Thanks!

I use my gear fit 2 pro with a rooted samsung s7 edge, not sure if it is because my phone is samsung but i cant see this being the case. I use Magisk for rooting but dont hide the gear app.
Perhaps they've changed something since then, but I did use Magisk and tried to hide it too, it never worked...

I purchased my Gear Fit 2 Pro 2 days early and I don't have any problem with it on my Rooted Galaxy S9.
Only one problem that I faced that I can't buy some paid watchfaces, but I resolved it by hiding magisk from Galaxy Store, so if someone have problems with Rooted Device, just use magisk hide option and everything will work…
