I have a Z3.
Want to install this call recording app here
But I checked Clockwork Mod, and TWRP and they don't have an Xperia Z3 version! Just the compact. I don't want to brick my phone!
So how do I install recovery so I can flash that zip file? I only want to unlock call recording. That's it.

I lost the recovery when I installed MM.
If you want to have TWRP on MM you need use this (same method as above): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66232031

Okay, also forgot to mention that I'm already rooted.
Dual recovery? Can that be used to install the .zip file?
Do I have any chance of screwing this up somehow? I'm terrified of bricking again.

It pretty simple if you have PC. Download dual recovery [http://nut.xperia-files.com/path/XZDualRecovery] for Z3. Follow instructions, run the script and hook up the Z3. Should be simple.

First of all this is not the appropriate forum to ask questions. Here it's Android Development for Z3
There is a lot of thread about install recovery for Locked BL ..
>>XZDualRecovery for KK and LP or RecRoot for MM (if you want to update before) you'll have access to a custom Recovery and flash what you want

Sorry about that.
And I think I screwed something up. (See files labeled "Screenshot")
I can't get anything to open. I tired to restart, doesn't help. Can't even clear cache because I can't get into settings.
Does it have anything to do with these apps? I tried to install them via installer, and that's when I started getting probelms...
https://s.basketbuild.com/filedl/devs?dev=AndroPlus&dl=AndroPlus/XZ3_CallRecording_signed.zip
and this one (see z3apks zip)
Now I can't even open installer anymore, access settings, the play store, etc. Pretty much everything that I need working in the phone.
Please help me. I bet it's a simple fix too. I just don't want to make it any worse
I can still uninstall via RootUninstaller etc, but I don't know if that is okay to do.
I don't have backup versions of those apps, and I have no idea which of the 4
were installed previously, and which are safe to uninstall. Guide me in the right direction?

Okay. I have fixed everything.
I have flashed the firmware again.
I am fully rooted.
And I have NDR Utils but I have no idea how to use it.
Can you please tell me how to flash it? I do not know where to begin, and this is where I screwed up last time.
THIS is all I want.... Thank you :]
{note ROM MANAGER tells me that the D6603 is "not supported" or something. So I won't ever be able to install CWM?}

So you're on 4.4.4 rooted you have NDR utile so you already install XZDR with a pc ? Alright ? Don't need to use rom manager. D6603 is not "officially" supported.
You only don't know how to reboot into recovery ?
In NDR utils you can chose in which recovery you want to boot and reboot to recovery or power off the phone then press power, release it first led turn on and press many times vol - to twrp or vol + to cwm the led colour will change btw twrp or cwm is the same thing then flash select the file and reboot
For your files read the requierments you need also superusermod with Xposed and mod from serajr.. You need to flash appropriate Xposed in recevery then install serajr mod then activate superusermod in it to get fully fonctionnal recorder.
All this for just a recorder there's app for it on Google store.

I had the "auto call recorder" app installed from Xposed on my Xperia Z1. When I installed it on my Xperia Z3, it doesn't work anymore! So that's why I want to try this.
How do I know which recovery I want to boot into? I have NEVER used NDR before. How do I flash Xposed? I have it installed, but I don't think it is flashed? Is there a guide?
I am not familiar with any of this at all, so I just want to be very careful when doing all of this. Thank you.
What I don't understand is why you complicate your life just for THIS phone recorder .. For this you need to install XPOSED to have superusermod before (Xposed api 19 arm which is no more supported and don't know where download it)and it's only compatible with KitKat we are on Marshmallow now .. There a lot of phone recorder on the Google Play Store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appstar.callrecorder
I'm trying to understand where you are ... you are on 4.4.4 rooted okay .. but have you already install the recovery XZDR or not ??? The recovery you need to go next
If yes
you only need to reboot into recovery the way I tell (Power then Vol - until colour led change) you then flash :
Xposed API 19 ARM (for KitKat) >> If you find this file
Reboot
Install Xposed app download module Serajr Xperia Xposed check superusermod reboot
Return in recovery flash your recorder reboot
it work
If No return on top of this thread and install XZDR then read If Yes
If I was you Install XZDR then flash prerooted Marshmallow (Or lollipop at least) and just install an autorecorder from Google Play Store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appstar.callrecorder. Or Go install a Custom Rom for LckedBootloader maybe one already include a phone recorder on it

I seem to be losing root after rebooting. This is a major issue for me as I have the Z3 set up with no soft keys and navigate using GMD Gesture. So when root dissappears I cannot navigate around the phone or exits apps etc.
I have narrowed it down to a potential issue with 'unicon' xposed module, which basically changes the icons at system level. I cannot say for sure that this is causing the issue but it looks very likely.
Also without root I cannot uninstall Supersu or Xposed, but with many reboots and managing to disable and then re-enable Supersu through system settings I now have root again. But as soon as I reboot it's gone again.
Very strange issue never encountered this before.
Some info about my Z3:
ANDROID 4.4.4
LOCKED BOOTLOADER
EDIT:
i have noticed a few more issues:
power button on side is not responding any more.
root is working now that supersu is uninstalled
i cannot boot into recovery both manually and through NDR utilities
If you are in a position to help, please please please do!
You need to disable the RIC
If you are unsure just flash an advanced stock kernel from the development section.

I read your post when you said you had an unlocked boot.
No you cannot flash a custom kernel.
OK, you will need to ensure you installed the recovery correctly.
Run the installer again for dual recovery and post the out put here.
If it goes correctly it will sort everything out for you

How do you recommend installing Supersu? When i try to install through the recovery the phone just reboots normally. Should i install a flshable zip instead of installing from playstore.
How will i prevent this happening again?

There is no lollipop for any sony phones so no one knows
Unless you mean custom roms and of course they are rootable.
Just flash a .93 FTF, root, install recovery and then flash a prerooted zip made with PRFCreator.
EDIT
If you think that backup does not have this issue on it then restore it.
However, if you are unsure its best to start again and then you can eliminate the problem.

so everything was great, then i installed the following apps:
GMD Gesture
Udn pro (xposed)
Xblast (Xposed)
Flat bars (xposed)
I now have no root again. Completely sucks i just set the goddamn phone up again and now back to square one!
How can one of these apps have the power to remove root?! my backup works flawlessly and i can reboot and still have root, it is 100% one of these apps

It will not be removing root... but it might be messing with it.
Its a slow process but try this
Restore the backup and setup again, then take a backup before you insall those 4, then start adding them one at atime, take a backup in between each one so you can restore it. It may be that on their own they are fine but together they could conflict.
At any point you may want to take a logcat and share it... Just a thought..

the thing is ive managed to get rid of xposed and all modules and now supersu is mucked up and wont stick after a reboot.
Therefore one of these apps must not only be messing with root but changing some system file to make Supersu not stick after a reboot?
Does that make sense? My responses may well go downhill from here, I'm losing the will to live
I will try that and post back. Thanks

Quick update: i have found the problem app and identified it as "LG Optimus Lockscreen". This app was asking for root privileges and was somehow disabling the home button through a setting to ensure someone couldnt unlock the phone by pressing the home button. It was also causing the issue with losing root.
Shame because the lockscreen is awesome
Hi folks, so, I received OTA update for my Moto G (XT1032).
Phone was rooted (I did unroot from SuperSU). Also, I've re-installed Stock recovery (to make sure) and wiped cache/dalvik.
But, update still fails.
I don't have much root-related soft (like Xposed etc) installed - so pretty sure this should not cause an issue.
But still, update fails.
Any ideas how to troubleshoot/make it work? Maybe installing OTA somehow from recovery (custom one, TWRP)?
Any comments - much appreciated. I guess I'm not alone in this, but still...
Thanks

Well, I might misunderstood, but:
I have official recovery (fastboot is mode of it, I guess, when U press Power+volume key?)
I've read about adb sideload zip_name_of_OTA.zip
I don't know any other way to install OTA apart from let phone handle it OR adb sideload.

Got this, screenshot in attachment.
Fingerprints are wrong. In build.prop - I can see it's fine, fingerprint of current 4.4.4. - matches expected.
But as soon as update starts - it says that 4.4.2 is fingerprint of my OS. Bollocks.
Edited OTA zip, edited some metadata file...
Why it won't install on pretty clean phone - I can't understand...Previous installs of OTA went fine with root etc.

Greetings, I have the same problem, it is the last screen that appears when you install the update, and then restarts it goes off the screen update error ...
To anyone having issues:
1. Make sure you're on completely stock 4.4.4 (Refer to http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/development/rom-stock-motorola-rom-collection-t2854688 and use only untouched 4.4.4 version for your phone if you have to reflash before continuing)
2. Make sure you're on stock recovery (Refer to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2649763)
*Uninstall XPOSED if using it
3. I personally let update run on its own after reverting everything to stock.

Yep.
The solution is backup data, restore stock last firmware using fastboot guide posted in this forum and not even update apps (cancel gmail registration and everything it asks when it first starts) ONLY update motorola update services so you can get the ota again an install it. If you have the ota downloaded you can flash it through recovery but using the last recovery version (.61) and of course last firmware version. If you guys flash it all through fastboot, it should install w/o any problems.
Hi all, I've been trawling through the Z3 threads trying to find a definitive answer to a question I have regarding regarding how to get a custom recovery working on the latest version of the AOSP Concept ROM, but so far have only gotten confused with all the conflicting information. My old Nexus 5 was a piece of cake to flash/root compared to the Z3!
In short - is it possible to simply flash a custom recovery.img through fastboot? If so, which one is compatible with the concept ROM?
I have a D6603 with an unlocked bootloader.
Thanks in advance.
Gave up on this but found this post, which might help other people in the same boat as me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65675078&postcount=1513
Scratch that second post. Finally figured it all out - why is there no sticky guide about this??
If anyone else is getting twitchy trying to figure out how to install a custom recovery + ROM on their Z3, this is waht you do::
1. Flash a clean Stock KK 23.0.A.2.93 firmware (for DD6603. Other models need a different stock KK ROM afaik) using flashtool.
2. Boot phone and enable USB debugging + mock locations in Developer Options,
3. Run giefroot 3.1 bat to install root.
4. Run latest version of XZDualRecovery installer bat to install custom recovery.
5. Download a pre-rooted zip of the LP/MM ROM you want, put on SD card and flash thru recovery.
7. Wipe Cache for good measure and reboot.
6. Boot back into recovery, flash RICDefeat.zip if needed, to allow R/W functionality for apps like Adaway
Where did you get RICdefeat.zip?
I have SU after flashing Recroom but my Recovery is gone.

I got RICdefeat here : https://github.com/dosomder/SonyRICDefeat/blob/master/RICDefeat.zip
Doubt it will fix your missing recovery problem, though. I'd offer to help but I'm afraid it'd be a case of the blind leading the blind.
I bought the Samsung J3 Pro from China and it doesn't come with Gapps.
The phone is not rooted and the bootloader is locked.
Here are the steps I took to resolve this and install Gapps, but my stock recovery cannot access external SD card and ADB push. But at least I can use GAPPS.
1. Unlocking Bootloader - You need to CROM to unlock the bootloader. Install this apk.
h double t p s: double-slashes 1drv.ms/u/s!AgNcMhBajz7DiS4U-ssG4pig6VYE
2. Install Root - Use ODIN (h double t p s :double-slashes 1drv.ms/u/s!AgNcMhBajz7DiTE3Lp1mHOJnAr-r)
and flash this root file under AP (h double t p s: double-slashes 1drv.ms/u/s!AgNcMhBajz7DiTCam_wn2LVf6X8C)
3. Install Super User - If you get boot up after flashing the root access, you are almost done. Install the Superuser.apk . (h double t p s : double-slashes 1drv.ms/u/s!AgNcMhBajz7DiS-44wy4I0c6UD4e)
4. Install GAPPS - As I can't flash gapps.zip using the OpenGapss due to no access to external SD Card using the stock recovery (no CWM or TWRP for this model) , I use this app from this website (h double t p :double-slashes world wide web.gugeanzhuangqi.com/)
or download apk here (h double t p s :double-slashes 1drv.ms/u/s!AgNcMhBajz7DiTKheRRLQoimhO3a)
I apologise for inconvenient links as this is my first post . I hope the above can help someone ... but I still need some help to enable access to external SD card under the stock recovery, or wait for a proper CWM or TWRP recovery...:good:

Just a heads up, I managed to root using ODIN and installed TWRP and have access to external files during recovery. I then installed GAPPS, but still got "Google Framework has stopped working" when trying to sign into Google Play. I'll let you know if I have any more success.
Hello,
Someone could help me to root my sm-j3110 of china please :crying: ?
Because the links above no longer work and I don't see anywhere a clean solution for root this model.
The solution above still works or a new solution is released please ?
Thanks a lot in advance

Yeah I figured it out in the other day, I'll try to gather the files you'll need and post them in a link. Just a note, the original solution mentioned in the first post didn't work for me.

I have 3 questions please :

- KNOX counter 0x1 ?
- OEM unlock to enable ?
It's only to know, anyway I can't live without root on all my Android products

Yes a yellow triangle appears on the boot screen. I flashed TWRP, wiped the original ROM and installed a new one that comes with google play by default, google GPS services enabled and has the Chinese bloatware removed, didn't even need the phone rooted. I did however manage to root the phone before, although I can't remember the software I used. I left it unrooted in the end, just because I was happy enough with the system without.

Firstly, I'm going to assume you know how to boot your phone into download mode and that you know how to use ODIN. If not, watch a youtube video, it's fairly simple stuff.
You'll need a decent size of SD card to back up to. I think the original ROM itself is >4GB.
Steps:
1. Flash TWRP using ODIN.
2. BACK UP YOUR FILES (Including system files) USING TWRP TO YOUR SD.
3. Wipe everything except your external SD using TWRP.
4. Flash the new ROM using ODIN, there are four files, one for each section in ODIN.
5. (Optional) Reflash TWRP as the installation of the ROM removes it.
As always, I can't stress enough how important it is to back up beforehand, you are wiping everything that's not on your external SD.
Also note that you have to wipe the old ROM, it doesn't work if you just try to install the new one on top of the old one.
I found the default English keyboard in this ROM had a few mistakes (It's originally a Vietnamese ROM I believe, although it has an English language option), so I downloaded google keyboard from play and that fixed it.
Enjoy

Finally, I flashed TWRP using ODIN first.
Then I flashed SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip using TWRP and installed SuperSU v2.79 after boot on my ROM original of China.
The root works fine but the GPS no longer works and it makes me angry
I used many gps fix and gps test without results :crying::crying::crying:
I'm french so I was afraid that the Vietnamese ROM don't have the French language
Maybe I'll buy a new model to see if root works without problems because I don't know if others have rooted the Chinese ROM Stock perfectly.
I so liked this phone :crying:
Very thanks a lots for your help :good:

No problem. Just so you know, it has all of the major languages. French, Italian etc. I scrolled past them when I was searching for the English option.

I'm sorry, I do not understand what you meant by creating a flashable custom root file. I just used the steps below to enable root so that I can install GAPPS using the 3rd party installer :
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Install the rooted ROM (check only the box "AP" in ODIN)
3. install Superuser
4. Install the apk for GAPPS installation.
You need to follow the sequence.

My GPS is working fine using the steps I had posted.
After carrier unlocking Japanese S7 edge SCV33 model, the firmware changes to SC-02H.
To root the device ( Nougat )
First enable OEM unlocking from the developers options.
Flash this TWRP via odin v3.12.5
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634747128
After installing, Please backup the whole rom to your SD card.
If you have any problem backing up. You can flash the stock recovery image in the link below and your device will boot up fine.
If the TWRP backup is a success,
First make sure your device boots up with this Twrp installed before rooting.
If the device boots up, then flash the SuperSu. If the device doesnot boots up, flash the stock recovery.
Workaround:
If the device fails to boot up with this twrp, Flash the super su. Turn off the device, then flash the Stock recovery via odin and bootup the phone. See if Super Su is installed.
Flash this flashable SuperSu v2.82.zip
http://www.supersu.com/download
You will loose root after a factory reset. Flash again!!!!
DONOT DO ANYTHING WITHOUT BACKING UP.
First boot will loop for few times.
YOUR SIM CARD WILL RUN FINE
After rooting, incase you want your stock recovery, or your device doesnot boots up. Flash this via odin.
S7 edge SC-02H Stock recovery image

If this doesnt help and you fail to boot up the device or you messed up the device..... just restore from twrp and flash the stock recovery. You will have your device back to normal like it was before.
Hit thanks if this helped.
Below are some screenshots with SuperSu and all japanese apps removed!
You can also change the boot animation of this device by replacing corresponding botanimation files.
Backup the stock bootanimation files first.
Navigate to ;
root/system/media and replace the boot animation files.
Link is below.
And dont forget to set their permissons to ( r-w-r-r )

So, i found a new rom for our device
Found a new rom for our device... anybody would like to test it???
Flash the rom via ODIN....
Caution: I have experienced loosing my imei number if i perform a factory reset after installing this rom. Because of the previous nandroid backup, i was able to bring back device to previous working state. DO IT ON YOUR OWN RISK..
My advice is that you backup your current rom and then only FLASH.
You get the idea.
Lot of work needed in this rom.
However it is stable...
Anybody who would like to modify????
All credit goes to the rightful owner....
Features like:
inbuilt fingerprint app lock
new launcher
all japanese bloats removed
no requirement of japanese docomo country code while dialing certain numbers
samsung keyboard
many device languages
New launcher etc

Yes....
Inorder to solve the failed to mount data.... you will have to boot into twrp and then go to wipe. At the bottom left.. you will see fomat data....
You will loose all the phone memory data so first its better you backup....
Then you will have no problem.. you can boot up all ok.
to install xposed..... Flash the xposed installer from twrp and the reboot. Install the xposed apk file and there you go.. you have your Xposed.
To uninstall xposed if incase you dont like it... Uninstall the xposed apk... reboot to twrp and flash the xposed uninstaller.zip

you can manually delete the carrier bloats using any root explorer after rooting. you can then make and save a debloated nandroid backups..
or
you can go ahead and try whatever you are feeling like to... Life is an experiment my friend.

BTW, thank you for your tut to install xposed
