[GUIDE] How to Unlock Bootloader, Root and Install Gapps on Samsung J3 Pro SM-J3110 - General Topics

I bought the Samsung J3 Pro from China and it doesn't come with Gapps.
The phone is not rooted and the bootloader is locked.
Here are the steps I took to resolve this and install Gapps, but my stock recovery cannot access external SD card and ADB push. But at least I can use GAPPS.
1. Unlocking Bootloader - You need to CROM to unlock the bootloader. Install this apk.
h double t p s: double-slashes 1drv.ms/u/s!AgNcMhBajz7DiS4U-ssG4pig6VYE
2. Install Root - Use ODIN (h double t p s :double-slashes 1drv.ms/u/s!AgNcMhBajz7DiTE3Lp1mHOJnAr-r)
and flash this root file under AP (h double t p s: double-slashes 1drv.ms/u/s!AgNcMhBajz7DiTCam_wn2LVf6X8C)
3. Install Super User - If you get boot up after flashing the root access, you are almost done. Install the Superuser.apk . (h double t p s : double-slashes 1drv.ms/u/s!AgNcMhBajz7DiS-44wy4I0c6UD4e)
4. Install GAPPS - As I can't flash gapps.zip using the OpenGapss due to no access to external SD Card using the stock recovery (no CWM or TWRP for this model) , I use this app from this website (h double t p :double-slashes world wide web.gugeanzhuangqi.com/)
or download apk here (h double t p s :double-slashes 1drv.ms/u/s!AgNcMhBajz7DiTKheRRLQoimhO3a)
I apologise for inconvenient links as this is my first post . I hope the above can help someone ... but I still need some help to enable access to external SD card under the stock recovery, or wait for a proper CWM or TWRP recovery...:good:

Just a heads up, I managed to root using ODIN and installed TWRP and have access to external files during recovery. I then installed GAPPS, but still got "Google Framework has stopped working" when trying to sign into Google Play. I'll let you know if I have any more success.

Hello,
Someone could help me to root my sm-j3110 of china please :crying: ?
Because the links above no longer work and I don't see anywhere a clean solution for root this model.
The solution above still works or a new solution is released please ?
Thanks a lot in advance

Yeah I figured it out in the other day, I'll try to gather the files you'll need and post them in a link. Just a note, the original solution mentioned in the first post didn't work for me.

I have 3 questions please :
- a yellow triangle appears with a red and yellow message ?
- KNOX counter 0x1 ?
- OEM unlock to enable ?
It's only to know, anyway I can't live without root on all my Android products

Yes a yellow triangle appears on the boot screen. I flashed TWRP, wiped the original ROM and installed a new one that comes with google play by default, google GPS services enabled and has the Chinese bloatware removed, didn't even need the phone rooted. I did however manage to root the phone before, although I can't remember the software I used. I left it unrooted in the end, just because I was happy enough with the system without.

Thank for your answer.

Firstly, I'm going to assume you know how to boot your phone into download mode and that you know how to use ODIN. If not, watch a youtube video, it's fairly simple stuff.
You'll need a decent size of SD card to back up to. I think the original ROM itself is >4GB.
Steps:
1. Flash TWRP using ODIN.
2. BACK UP YOUR FILES (Including system files) USING TWRP TO YOUR SD.
3. Wipe everything except your external SD using TWRP.
4. Flash the new ROM using ODIN, there are four files, one for each section in ODIN.
5. (Optional) Reflash TWRP as the installation of the ROM removes it.
As always, I can't stress enough how important it is to back up beforehand, you are wiping everything that's not on your external SD.
Also note that you have to wipe the old ROM, it doesn't work if you just try to install the new one on top of the old one.
I found the default English keyboard in this ROM had a few mistakes (It's originally a Vietnamese ROM I believe, although it has an English language option), so I downloaded google keyboard from play and that fixed it.
Enjoy

Finally, I flashed TWRP using ODIN first.
Then I flashed SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip using TWRP and installed SuperSU v2.79 after boot on my ROM original of China.
The root works fine but the GPS no longer works and it makes me angry
I used many gps fix and gps test without results :crying::crying::crying:
I'm french so I was afraid that the Vietnamese ROM don't have the French language
Maybe I'll buy a new model to see if root works without problems because I don't know if others have rooted the Chinese ROM Stock perfectly.
I so liked this phone :crying:
Very thanks a lots for your help :good:

I'm sorry, I do not understand what you meant by creating a flashable custom root file. I just used the steps below to enable root so that I can install GAPPS using the 3rd party installer :
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Install the rooted ROM (check only the box "AP" in ODIN)
3. install Superuser
4. Install the apk for GAPPS installation.
You need to follow the sequence.

[Q] Need Help to Flash Cyanogenmod 11 to 11s on Chineses OnePlus one

Hi Team,
Just brought in a chinese version of OnePlus One flashed with CyanogenMod 11 , Went to cynaogen site and it seems the file available is "cm-11.0-XNPH25R-bacon-signed-fastboot.zip" when most the site indicate the files without fast-boot , not sure if this would work.
Anyways i attempted to try it out and i copied the files to the SD card and when intop recovery mod using power + volume Down ( The Chinese guys has already rooted and flashed custom-recovery on the device ) , but to my suprise the the entire input of the screen was in Chinese.
So my question and the help needed is
+ How do i install or change the Custom-recovery to English .
+ Can anyone please provide me step by step procedure to install CyanogenMod 11s from CyanogenMod 11.
I know its lame , as this is my first ever time and would like to give it a go.
Thanks
Faisal
There are tutorials available on how to do this if you look for them.

If you're already rooted and you just need to change recovery just install TWRP manager from the play store and install the latest version of TWRP recovery from the app.
The version is 2.7.1.1 and your device is called bacon.
Happy flashing.
Then you can download CM11s rom zip file and flash it as any custom rom. As you're rooted use titanium backup to backup your apps (don't backup system data) in order to restore your applications after the upgrade as you will have to do a full wipe (data/cache/dalvik cache/boot/system) before installing CM11s.
Good luck bro!

Brilliant , thanks again DuckMcQUack , i will get that done tonight after i reach home.
One last question , Is " "cm-11.0-XNPH25R-bacon-signed-fastboot.zip" avaiable at Cyanogen site the same as "cm-11.0-xxxxx-bacon-signed.zip" , since most of the site says the team cyanogen has removed the offical OnePlus One build from their site and the different forums also indicates files without fastboot keyword.

You should find a zip that can be installed from recovery, i think that those on the site you linked are only flashable in fastboot.
I hope someone will chime in and point you towards the right version, i never searched for it as i am totally rooted but stock as now.

Thanks Again , will keep you posted on my progress :good:
Finally flashed CM11s on the OPO.
Finally I have my first Custom ROM install done and feel so happy ( Yes i did face some issue , but it was a worth learning them on how to fix it ). :victory:
BIG SHOUT out to DuckMcQUack for helping me out, without your knowledge i would have not known about TWRP , thanks man , cant thank you enough . :good:
I have posted the steps that i followed ( below ) and the issues faced , maybe it can help in someone else (who is Novice like me) to flash CM11s on their OPO .
I will start with my Issues faced first before posting steps to install , so that people are aware of things that can go wrong if you don't follow the instruction properly.
ISSUE FACED:
1. After installing TWRP recovery and installing the image from the TWRP app ( Install TWRP option in the app ) even after selecting Bacon as the device name , rebooting into recovery mode , still showed me CWM in Chinese language ( spend one hour to figure this out on how to get this replaced )
2. After the fix of TWRP , rebooted the device on recovery mode and wiped the cache and formated the device , but for some reason my Internal Storage was also wiped out even the image that i copied to the storage, leaving my phone bricked and no OS to boot my phone ( spend 2 hours to figure this out , as i didn't have the adb-shell sorted before wiping the phone OS )
3. After getting things sorted and moving the image ( zip file ) to the storage , installing the zip file indicates " Partion Table Error " and spend almost 2 hours again to figure this out.
MY SETUP:
+ Sony Viao running Windows 8.1
+ OnePlus One Chinese Edition - SandStone Black ( 64 GB ) - Brought from OPPOMART
+ OnePlus One Already rooted
+ OnePlus One was running CynanogenMod 11
+ OnePlus One was using ClockWork Mod in chinese language.
TOOLS NEEDED:
+ TWRP Manager: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jmz.soft.twrpmanager
+ TWRP Manager Image: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/231
+ ADT bundle: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
+ CynanogenMod 11s: http://dist01.slc.cyngn.com/factory/bacon/cm-11.0-XNPH25R-bacon-signed.zip
+ USB OTG ( Very Important as this saved my life ) : You can get from any local mobile store.
STEPS FOLLOWED:
1. Ensure your OPO is rooted , my device was already rooted by the seller so didnt have to follow any steps , im not going to provide any steps to root the device since i havent followed any and also haven't tested those steps to know what issues you would face.
Please do check the forum / google search on how to root OPO , once done follow the rest of the steps.
If you wanted to know how did i know my device was rooted , on CM11 ( that came with device ) on settings at the very bottom I had SuperUser settings.
2. Install TWRP , fastboot the device to install the image using ADT bundle->platform-tool to convert CWM Recovery to TWRP Recovery.
Deatils steps on how to do it is provided by youtuber "sakitech" ( Again a big thanks to him ) , check his video on how to change the CWM to TWRP : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnESTcH2ioA
Quick Tip , on OnePlus One
- To Fastboot its: Turn-off-the-device -> Power + VolumeUp ( together )
- To Enter in recoverymod its : Turn-off-the-device -> Power + VolumeDown ( together )
3. Once you have followed the steps , make sure you go through the options available in TWRP Recovery and also check if your phone detects the usb-otg ( a life-saver if your phone is bricked and dont want to go through sideloading the zip files to the phone using adb which is a pain )
- Power of the phone
- plug the usg-otg to the device
- hold power + volume down
- on the TWRP recovery page , click on mount and mount usb-otg
- hit back and then on advanced -> filemanager , check if you can view files in the usb-otg folder
- Back to the main menu , reboot the phone normally.
4. After downloading the file (Cyanogenmod 11s) files make sure the checksum ( md5 ) is the same as shown on the site .
To do so,
- On the windows command prompt ( windows key + R and type in cmd )
- navigate to the folder where you have downloaded the CM11s zip file ( cd <type-in-file-path> )
- Run md5 <type-in-CM11s-filename>
- The output should match ( i skipped this first and that ended up with a bad download ).
5. Copy those files to the phone storage and the USB stick ( to be used by usb-otg) , just in case.
6. Take backup of your device use Titanium backup if needed.
7. Reboot into recovery mode.
8. On TWRP recovery page ,
- Check the usb-otg is still working on the device and the TWRP is able to detect it and you are able to see the zip file ( CM11s ) that you just copied into it
- First wipe -> Format device -> swipe to confirm
- Second Wipe -> Advance Wipe -> check box everything ( except storage ) -> swipe to confirm.
- Main menu -> Reboot -> Reboot into Recovery ( It might ask during reboot , that do you want to install SuperUser ) -> swipe to confirm.
- Once the phone is rebooted into recovery .
- install zip -> provide the location of zip file -> swipe to confirm.
- Once done , On main menu -> reboot normally ( again might ask to install superuser ) -> swipe to confirm.
- If your phone doesnt turn on normally , then just hit the power button , the boot might take 5 minutes or so for the first time , once done , you have the CM 11s installed ...
Enjoy :laugh::good:

No problem mate.
As regarding the issue:
1. About your recovery being resetted over and over: In developer options are you sure that you had: Update CM recovery unchecked? This can be the case...I just forgot to tell you about it, I'm relatively new to OPO and I am still used to my old GS4 which didn't have such problem!
2. Maybe you formatted internal storage by mistake? If you do advanced wipe and select only cache/dalvik/data/system/ boot it shouldn't have happened.
3. No clue about the partition error, but I'm glad you sorted it out anyways!
Have fun :highfive:

1. I haven't checked that part , i left the app to do its bit , but it seems it might have not .
2. I made sure at least two to three time , that storage was not selected , but it wiped it even after unchecking it.
3. Yup not sure , might be a bad download , since my first download was of the size 473MB and the second ( good one ) was 464MB , so definitely there was a bad files that i downloaded.
Anyways all went well and happy with the new Flash , hopefully Cyanogemod send updates via OTA for the unofficial installation of CM 11s on OPO ...

[GUIDE][UTIL][Allview Energy P8] STOCK ROM + TWRP + ROOT

UPDATE:
Hey guys,
One of our Romanian fellows has found an article with a much easier ROOTing method, in case you're wondering: http://www.androidvillaz.com/2015/11/how-to-root-gionee-m5-and-install-twrp-recovery.html
This one should be pretty easy and straight forward. ( thanks ovi_jer! )
The BACKUP part of the tutorial is stil valid and can be used to fully backup your STOCK ROM before you start rooting your device.
Best of luck!
Backup
Before doing anything, I strongly recommend that you perform a full backup in case something goes wrong along the way and you manage to brick your phone (I've bricked mine several times until I found the right method).
Once your drivers are installed you'll need to connect your phone to your PC
Drag down the notification bar and click on the "Connected as a media device" notification
Make sure "USB debugging is on"
Open "SP_Flash_Tool_exe_Windows_v5.1528.00.000\flash_tool.exe"
Click on the "Download" tab
Click on the "Scatter-loading" button on the top-right
Select the "Allview_P8_Energy_0102_V6063_STOCK_scatter.txt" scatter file from the "ROM_Allview_P8_Energy_0102_V6063" folder that was created when you've unzipped the kit
Now click on the "Readback" tab
Click the "Add" button on the top-left
Once the new entry is added in the list below, double-click it and a file dialog will open
Now give your ROM BACKUP a name (you will need this later on in case you want to perform an emergency recovery)
Select the folder where you wish to place your new backup and click Save
A new popup will open allowing us to set the readback block start address - make sure Type: Hex is selected
Make sure start address is 0x0000000000000000
In the Length box, put this: 0x00000000d7800000
Click on OK
And now, to begin the readback (backup) procedure, you'll need to click on the Read Back button (top-center)
Now reboot your phone (long-press the Lock button on your phone until the Power Off/Reboot dialog appears and select REBOOT)
Once the phone reboots the SPF app should start saving the phone memory to file, and your backup is created
Once you see a green success message, you can safely turn your phone back on (unplug USB and long press the Lock button until the screen turns on)
Good luck!
downloading ), finger crossed ), thank you
next thing to try is xposed )
step 1 : flashed, no errors
step 2 : booting , optimising app ; probably did not format my old data partition ?

Glad to hear it. I might have noticed some issues with the network settings (for some reason my 2G network doesn't seem to work but it might be because I've overwritten something with the Gionee versions and forgot to restore it from the Allview version) - I'll investigate this further and come up with a solution.
Cheers!
step 3 : launcher stopped first second after boot, looping
step 4 : restart to recovery, here surpiseeeee : stock recovery, i flashed with twrp one )
step 5 : i will flash again, if factory reset not solve it

EDIT - To say I manully flashed the TWRP recovery and worked fine
Spare parts for Energy P8
As a quick update: I've hard-bricked mine . I then went for the battery (to do a hard reset) then while putting the screws back, I've accidentally put a longer screw in the wrong place and pierced my screen :silly:
So now I have spare parts for the Allview Energy P8 But nevertheless, it's still an awesome phone and I've already placed an order for another one.
Can't wait to get my new Energy P8 :crying:
Cheers!

Oh well, that happens. It's funny that it had nothing to do with the rooting itself ) It was just me playing around... Anyway, I've decided to cancel my order and just call Allview - maybe they can change just the case & screen, which should be cheaper than getting a new one fingers crossed.
I'll post the questions I receive in private just in case there are other people who could use the answer.

The files that I've used to root it are all present in the Preparation section: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4y-lCr0oBtjcV9WcDJEb2hkcFE/view?pli=1
WARNING: I have not tested this for the Gionee Marathon M5 (only for Allview Energy P8 which is a rebranded version of the M5).
I recommend that you follow all the steps: Preparation, Backup, Flashing TWRP/STOCK (this is the part where it replaces your ROM with a rootable one) and then the activation of Root.
I believe you got stuck at the Flashing part. The trick I did was to use my STOCK ROM files but I've replaced the recovery.img file with the TWRP recovery (which also has rooting ability).
Simply get a copy of your ROM (see this post for links - don't forget to give thanks! - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63816091&postcount=68 )
Replace the recovery.img file in your Gionee Stock ROM with the recovery_twrp.img you find in the Allview ZIP (ROM_Allview_P8_Energy_0102_V6063/recovery_twrp.img)
Make sure ONLY recovery and system are checked!
Don't forget to wipe the cache and user data - maybe @criszz has a few tips here?
You should now have your stock ROM with TWRP recovery installed. Once you have that, simply follow the steps in the ROOT section above and you should be fine.
Cheers!
My phone is Allview branded but before to put this rom was with gionee stock rom. I flashed allview rom and with allview scater i put twrp, with whole rom, not just twrp. Flashed 3 times before twrp to work ))

I think mine worked on the first run because I did an OEM Unlock before starting
WARNING: Performing an OEM Unlock will prevent your phone from booting, so make sure you have everything ready for flashing before doing that!
To perform the OEM Unlock you'll need to:
Enable OEM unlock from Developer options
Connect your phone to your pc via USB
run: adb reboot bootloader
then to unlock run: fastboot oem unlock
Cheers!
don't do that like me, after putting the rom, you will have bootlop and twrp bakup doesn't help. Now i'm flasing again with bootloader unloked )
hmmm, after flash im still not able to restore my data ), maybe it must be unlocked again, are you sure you flashed with bootloader unlocked?
locked bootloader again, still not working, i will flash gionee stock rom and again after allview rom with twrp )

@criszz I flashed all files from the Allview ROM, rebooted and went into the ROM to check it was working, I then rebooted into recovery but it was stock recovery. I then just flashed the TWRP recovery (by choosing same scatter file but only ticking recovery). I then booted into recovery and TWRP was there
after some work i concluded : is not worth to unlock bootloader, so stay away of that.
Finnaly i restore my twrp bakup back right now.
For anyone who has 'Invalid IMEI' after flashing (as I did). Here's how I solved:
1. Download 'MTK Engineering Mode' from the playstore
2. Open app and select 'MTK Settings', scroll to 'Connectivity' tab then select 'CDS Information'
3. Select 'Radio Information' then SIM 1
4. Type AT +EGMR=1,7,"INSERT YOUR IMEI HERE", then Send AT Command
5. Select 'Radio Information' then SIM 2
6. Type AT +EGMR=1,10,"INSERT YOUR IMEI HERE", then Send AT Command
7. reboot and all was OK

Hi adamyd,
Unfortunately it seems that somebody reported the file and Google has taken it down, which means that either Allview or Gionee do not want the software online for public access. Makes you wonder why wouldn't they want that tho... I feel this issue requires a bit of paranoia here so I'll investigate this as soon as I'll have some free time. Could it be collecting personal data? Usage patterns? Just wondering...
Aaanyhow, until some official from Allview or Gionee gives us green light to post their ROM online, we will have to do this manually.
Regarding the memory leak, I'm not aware if the Gionee ROM or the Allview ROM have this issue fixed - haven't had any problems with it so far.
Now, if you still want to root your phone the manual way, here is a suggestion of how it could be done (that's how I did it):
First, you will need to follow the steps mentioned in the Backup section of the tutorial and then generate your own ROM, which means you'll have to:
Download the SPFT application from the web (try searching XDA or simply use Google).
Get the scatter file for the Gionee Marathon M5 device ( try googling for "MT6735_Android_scatter.txt" ).
Follow the rest of the backup procedure described in the tutorial.
Dice the backup file (resulted from the BACKUP operation) into actual partition images, replace the recovery image file with the TWRP_recovery one and finally flash the entire MODIFIED ROM to your phone's memory.
Let me know if you choose to go the manual route, and I'll post a tutorial on how to accomplish #4 in the list above.
Cheers!

how to update r7 rooted with OPPO tools? (I did unroot but didn't work?)

hello everyone, I've r7plus rooted with OPPO tools and I decided to finally update with latest coloros OTA! so I first unrooted the R7 and then downloaded the Ota..
it does start the update.. reboot start to install(takes about 4 minutes..) but at less than half of the process it reboots and then tells me "update failed"!
I tried also with the Ota downloaded in my SD card.. with local update but same failure!
any idea how can I do this update? thanks
Sent from my R7plusf using Tapatalk
Just so everyone knows, it is best to not unroot the phone to install the OTA updates. Of all the times I've done it (total of 5), I had to rely on a previous version or completely reinstall the OS. The best way to go about installing the newest version would be flashing the color OS rom through the SD card. This only works if you can still access Recovery on your phone.
You'll want to go to coloros.com/rom and select on what I believe is the OPPO R7 Plus S, the versions with chinese characters should only be for the R7+ M.
Download the rom and drag it onto your SD card or phone.
Backup the phone!
Enter recovery
Select install from SD card
Select the ROM
Install the ROM
I believe the R7+ S version should be standard for all non Chinese phones, if it is not tell me so I can dig through the OPPO archives a little more. If it is not the right phone OS it will say installation failed which should not change anything.

If you download the rom, even if it wipes all the data clean you can still restore it with Color OS's backup/restore function. As for a site dedicated to R7+ f ROMs I have had little luck locating one. I'm sorry I could not be of more help.
guys i found solution to my problem.. i write it here , it might help some of you!
so what i did was WIPE all factory reset
DOWNLOAD full ROM from oppo forum and copy it into a folder in storage !
go to system update and do LOCAL UPDATE and select the entire rom(1,39GB..)
let it install , reboot and then ROOT it with oppo tools!
so basically the only thing that did not work for me was the OTA update of 135mb done with system update!
i hope it helps

Do a full wipe, data+cache, download the stock rom for your model on the computer. Move it to the sdcard and flash it using Oppo Recovery.

[Tool][Unbrick][Reset][Fix for bad Signal] Stock Firmware

Unbrick tool by One-Team - EypCnn
First: This tool seems to be from EypCnn, One-Team. All credits to them!
EDIT2: I no longer own this device, so i will leave this thread here for people to use. But don't expect any direct support from me .
What can this tool do?:
Restore phone to Stock(International) Firmware (S048) Marshmallow (Locked & Unlocked bootloader)
Fix Lost or bad Signal / IMEI any software Problem
For who does this work?
Pretty much any Lenovo P2 Variant (Chinese and International)
Phones which can access bootloader(you have to boot into it)
Works on Locked & Unlocked Bootloader
Installation aka. Flashing-Steps
Put your phone into bootloader (which is also fastboot) mode.
Download the folder and unzip it.
Connect your phone to your pc.
Go into the unzipped folder and open "flashall - stock reco.bat"
Wait, for the process to end, your phone will reboot on its own.! A stock lenovo bootlogo will show up !
You can disconnect your phone cable from pc and plug into a wall charger, just to be safe. Once the lockscreen is showing up, you're done.
If you want to flash Custom Roms:
look below:
WHEN MOVING TO CUSTOM ROMS NOW:
1. Boot to twrp. (Make sure it is pietwrp from telegram or the official 3.2.3 or later version)
2. Select WIPE menu option
3. Select data partition
4. Change file format to f2fs or anyother.
5. Go back to Start Menu of TWRP, choose Reboot Menu Option
6.Reboot to Recovery
7. Repeat Steps 2 and 3
8. This time select EXT4 when changing file format
9. Do Step 5 and 6
10. Wipe System,Cache and Dalvik-Cache partitions
( for older twrp versions: 10.1 If you're on official twrp 3.2.3 or lower, you have to flash pietwrp or latest twrp now !)
11. Flash your Custom Rom, Gapps (optional) and latest Magisk(optional)
12. Wipe Cache and Dalvik-Cache
13. Reboot. First Boot might take a few minutes but never longer than 7minutes.
If it takes longer, you're encounter a so called bootloop.
Comment hear if that happens, containing information on your twrp-version, rom, gapps, magisk and mods(if present) you're using.
When you corrupt your internal Storage or geht TWRP Error 1001, Error 7:
1. Repeat steps 2-6
2. Repeat steps 7-8
Download(Official Link)
2nd Link(reuploaded because some couldn't download it from androidfilehost): https://drive.google.com/open?id=1wUOZiTwW8mo0IheAGONyj9-QnjimnY2M
I will help if questions arise.

Thanks a lot for saving my ass . simplest way to downgrade to mm too. Thanks again
Wait.... downgrade to MM? Does this mean you can regain your signal or did @krishnakoonala get it wrong?
I have a spare P2 lying around that I never used because the IMEI got corrupted and I couldn't flash the bootloader files since I was unlocked.
I assume this wouldn't solve my issue?

My p2 was bricked and , stuck in boot loop. I followed the above instructions, 10 mins into it , it booted with mm version, the same version when i bought and booted for 1st time. It was like a new phone to me.
So i assume if one has upgraded to noughat and want to downgrade but is worried he might brick his device, one can take a back up and try this tool. It works flawless.
No harm in trying this one if ur p2 can boot up mate. Give it a shot. Good luck

It flashed everything you have when you buy a new phone. And no, it doesn't lock your bootloader.
So you can either :
- keep using MM Stock Rom S048
- Update via ota in System like you normally would do.
- Update till latest Firmware, then flash twrp- and then Custom Rom of your Choice.
Bootloader is in the same state it was before you used this tool.

DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT AN ODIN FLASHABLE TWRP. THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL TWRP. THIS IS A TWRP PORT THAT HAS BEEN MADE POSSIBLE BY BOTH @Dark98 & MYSELF. IT WAS BUILT USING FILES FROM R16NW.J737PVPU1ARG3. IT MAY OR MAY NOT WORK ON DEVICES WITH A DIFFERENT BOOTLOADER VERSION
You must have root access. I am currently working on making an Odin-flashable .tar for TWRP devs. Hopefully it will be available soon. Until then, root your device with Magisk. SuperSU is dead..
There is a downside & an upside to porting TWRP. The downside is that after you flash TWRP, you will lose root. The upside is that TWRP will remain so all you need to do to regain root is flash the Magisk-v18.1.zip. It's a very delicate process & you will need to pay attention or else you will bootloop & start over.
In order to flash, you need an app that will do so without booting into recovery. Flashify is the ideal choice for this procedure. View attachment flashify.apk Flash TWRP in Flashify but do not reboot from the app. Power off your device & boot into TWRP manually.
PAY ATTENTION TO THESE NEXT FEW STEPS!!!
- Boot into TWRP for the first time
- Swipe to allow modifications
- Wipe > Format Data > type yes when prompted (this will not delete any files you have in your Internal Storage)
- Once wipe is completed, go to TWRP home screen & Reboot > Power Off
- Once device powers off, reboot back into TWRP (yes you will boot into recovery twice)
If you fail to immediately boot back into TWRP, you will brick & have to restart.First boot is to clear out the /Data partition to make room for your new recovery. Second boot is to secure it.
Now that you have secured TWRP, go ahead & make a backup of your Boot + System + Data partitions. Keep in mind that you've lost root access so the backup will be "stock" firmware with TWRP.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now to get root back
(In TWRP)
You will now flash Magisk-v18.1. With the new security measures Samsung put in late 2017, you will need to flash 2 .zip files after to ensure that root sticks. YOU NEED TO FLASH THESE FILES IN ORDER. DO NOT WIPE CACHE AFTER EACH FLASH. DO NOT REBOOT AFTER EACH FLASH. FLASH EACH PACKAGE ONE AT A TIME. WAIT UNTIL THE 3RD FLASH IS COMPLETE & THEN REBOOT DEVICE. IT WILL TAKE SEVERAL MINUTES SO BE PATIENT.
In this order, flash:
- View attachment Magisk-v18.1(18100).zip
- View attachment no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip
- View attachment RMM-State_Bypass_Mesa_v2.zip
DO NOT WIPE THE CACHE
Now reboot device normally. If you do not flash the verity & RMM zip files in order, you will fυck your sh¡t up & have to start over.

When you get to your home screen, you will receive a notification to update Magisk. Update by either selecting the notification or manually through Magisk Manager. Allow Magisk to install the update, not TWRP.
Extract the .tar from the .zip > extract the twrp.img from the .tar View attachment J737P.zip
This is for the Galaxy J7 Refine (SM-J737P) (RUNNING OREO 8.0) (J737PVPU1ARG3)
Special thanks to @topjohnwu for Magisk
Special thanks to @Dark98 for working with me on this project. Probably could've done it without you bro but it would've taken longer

The root method should, provided you substitute in your own patched_boot.img from your stock firmware.
TWRP however, will not. Those variants are GSM Carriers (T-Mobile network). This is for Boost, a CDMA Carrier (exynos7885)
Thank you
Thank you for this as I will give it a go.

Hello, I have a Galaxy J7 Refine from Boost. Recently I decided to root it. There are only a few places that have ANY info on rooting SM-J737P.
Not realizing that this was an OLD thread, I basically just went along with this and a little info from somewhere else and some knowledge of rooting from back when I basically HAD to have my phone rooted.
Good news is, first try it worked for me. But I had this issue that I figured would be easy to remedy.
There is a notification when I boot the phone saying Unauthorized actions have been detected. Restart your device to undo any unauthorized changes.
Without doing any research on the notification I immediatly lept into action and caused the phone not only to boot loop, but also not be able to boot into recovery, where I had made my backup.
I tried flashing several roms/files and trying to figure out the issue, I realized that this was an old thread and the Binary Update number on my phone was 7, and here i was trying to flash 1's, 2's, 4's, 6's. Like no wonder they didnt do anything to help.
Immediately trying to search for U7, I was hitting road blocks, because it seems as though everyone's list stopped at U6.
Fortunatly for you, I would not take no for an answer and spents HOURS trying to figure out what file I needed and then locating it. Not being able to boot into OS or Recovery, figuring out what version my phone was on was a bit tricky. Cross referanced this info with that info, yada yada yada.
I found the most up to date file in case you brick your phone, but also if your still interested, I can help supply the info and files I used to accomplish this.
But as I type this, I cant stop thinking about that notification. I need to find out if its going to cause me problems or if I can just shut it up and everything will be fine.
I'll get back to you on those results. For now, im done typing. I haven't typed this much in a LONG time.
I cant stop thinking about that notification. I need to find out if its going to cause me problems or if I can just shut it up and everything will be fine.
(Disable the app called securitylogagent do no th delete will cause bootloop) I am looking to see is there new firmware u7. i have binary 6 rooted and would like to find u7 to try root?
Disable image
......fix that notification
I found out using lucky patcher to get rid of notification. Which that was the first app I was going to install anyways. So it worked out great.
As far as the u7 binary, I found it. I'll upload it to drive and share a link here shortly.
Currently uploading file to folder, but when its done you should be able to access it here.
