Hey guys, I'm trying to test out some software a friend stumbled upon that can unlock the Sprint Note 5. I've already unlocked my Sprint Note 5, which I am using with T-Mobile. I'm trying to see if it can work the unlock over a remote connection before buying myself, as it is very expensive software that also requires a physical dongle to work.
YOU MUST HAVE A DECENT STEADY INTERNET CONNECT AND USING WINDOWS PC!
You must be rooted! ( I have not tried this on a non rooted Note 5 and do not know if it will work. With that said if you're unrooted and one of the few I have time to try this remote unlock with, you proceed at your own risk!)
Please Nandroid or backup your data by whatever means you may use!
Although this will not root your phone or flash anything to your Note 5, you do this at your own risk!
If the remote unlock is unsuccessful, remember this didn't cost you a thing, and if it worked please post to this thread!
I am using a friends licensed software and hardware that he has been kind to let me try, please understand that I cannot do this for everyone that responds and my time is limited! With that said you will get a PM from me instructing you to download the 7zip file below for setup. At the moment, I have time for 5 to 6 quick unlocks! Don't get mad if you're not picked, as it will be random! Don't PM me regarding this thread, unless I PM'ed you in response to your thread reply. Thank you!
ENABLE USB DEBUGGING:
1. To enable "USB DEBUGGING", go to settings, then "About Phone", then tap "Build Number" 7 times.
2. Enable "USB debugging" and "OEM Unlock" in "Settings", "Developer options".
3. Connect the phone to PC with USB cable, install drivers if needed.
Download UnlockTools.7zip :
UnlockTools2.7z
Unzip and install as Administrator with shortcuts on your Desktop for easy access.
This zip contains two files:
Flexihub Setup - Used to connect to your Note 5 from remote connection. This can also be downloaded from the developers website as a free download for individual users. Google and you will find. Otherwise use my link.
TeamViewer Setup - Used to connect to your PC remotely and connect Flexihub software to your device. This can also be downloaded from the developers website as a free download for individual users. Google and you will find. Otherwise use my link.

Still trying to get Sprint version to unlock. My friend has expensive box and I'm thinking of getting one, but first he's letting me play around with it here and there. Still testing bro. PM me if you would like to try. Got mines to unlock, trying to replicate remotely now.
Interested!

And in all honesty, Junior, you should not have waste your first post bro! Or should I say Troll! Look I'm just trying to replicate what I did for mines using remote access. You think all the remote unlocks and sim unlocks you seeing on ebay and on websites are fake? Trust me, they are not, but it is expensive hardware and software that does that. What I do is completely safe. If you don't like what you see, leave. Simple, but evidently you are a troll and your profile proves it. You ask no questions, subscribe to nothing.

In July 2011, my Nexus S was stolen. I went to the police but they said they probably couldn't recover the device. So I just kinda let it go.
Well, a few weeks ago I found out the the phone was still connected to my Market account. This provides a bit of a security concern because I've got my credit card on my market account too, but they haven't bought anything. Just for fun, I decided to download and install Plan B to the phone, and within a few hours, I got four emails of the phone's location within 15 meters. Well, I didn't have time to bring that to the police, and that was eleven days ago. So I have a few questions:
1. I want to be able to get a more recent location because I'm afraid the police will say the location is too many days old. I know you can text "locate" or whatever to the phone but it's not my number anymore. (I know this because on my market account it says it's an AT&T phone whereas I'm on T-Mobile.)
2. Is there any way at all to remote remove the app and re install it?
3. Is there another app similar to Plan B that I can do the same thing?
4. Is there anything else I can do?
-Matthew
That really sucks. I know Lookout had an option on their site to collect the location through the internet, no phone number required. Don’t know if it's 100% sure, but it's worth a shot. Really hope you get your phone back. Good luck!

You should be able to login to your Google voice account and see which number it now forwards to. Assuming you had it on the phone and they did set it up. If not you can just text to your Google voice number and it should go through.
I don't have Voice to forward to any phone. :/ Darnit!

Verizon can see if you are rooted and any custom rom or modified kernel you are using. They have full access to all the information in the "about phone" screen in settings. If they wanted to deny a warranty claim due to being rooted, all they would have to do is look on their systems and see what you were running.

if i jam it in am i screwed either way if i send it back since i already callled??

They can see your radio version every time you connect to their towers, They can see your software/kernel/baseband if they like through the information your phone sends to them as you use it. Also they still have stuff like Carrier IQ on phones that COULD even read you your text messages if they wanted. Dont think they cant see it because they can. They just dont let you know they can because it could be considered illegal.

Seeing the radio version doesn't tell any carrier that someone is rooted. Being rooted is software related not radio related. Not unless custom radios are around, which is not available for the tbolt and im sure not for any other phone for that matter.
The only info phones send to the network is account information so the tower knows whether or not to provide service. That's it.
If they knew more details about a device then they would have no reason to ask us about our phone. They wouldn't waste their time as the info would pop up on their computer screens. If they saw anything other than the latest official OTA, then they would tell you that they can't do anything and that you voided your warranty so even switching back to stock won't make them change their mind.
The fact they would "waste" time to find out every detail from you pretty much sums up that this info is NOT available to them. CSRs like to help the customer as quickly as possible to get them off the line and help the next. And at this moment, asking customers about their phones is the quickest way.
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
So you think that those little forum signatures that can tell you what OS you are running, what browser and even your IP know more about your phone than your carrier?
Must be nice to be that gullible.
Think what you will, I know for a fact they can see the information. They literally don't care. The warranty is through another company and has nothing to do with Verizon. It is also perfectly legal to root your phone and do what you want with it as of July 26 2010 http://www.androidguys.com/2010/07/26/rooting-android-phone-longer-crime/
The only thing it does is void any extended warranty you bought. So do restore to stock for returns to asurion and the likes.
They ask you because the lower tier CS people do not have access to your phone information, if you are escalated enough you will eventually find someone who can and will rattle off all your information to you.
If you can provide proof then I will take back what I said and apologize. I've played dumb before in the past just to see if it was possible for tier 2 and 3 (technical departments) to know this information. I simply stated that I didn't know how to access the about phone section. They tried to "help" me access this section and i pretended I was getting frustrated. I asked them to see if there was a way for them to see it on their systems and they told me no. They couldn't "help" me with my pretend issue unless I gave them this info. So all I was given was generic troubleshooting tips. They then stated to take it to the store for the CSR to look at my phone for the software version. I did this on a couple of occasions just to get a different Rep each time.
Yes, your mobile browser sends browser info to a website, and OS info. User agent strings are sent so that a website will know how to display the website on the browser. You can easily set the user agent to the stock HTC user agent. But this is irrelevant to Verizon as I can install different browsers on my phone which have unique user agents for each one. Just because my phone sends a dolphin user agent or maxathon user agent and not the stock HTC user agent, this does not imply I am rooted.
OS version is very easy to hack. You can edit this by going to the build.prop and change the OS version to the stock version and I'm sure there is a hack to fake the kernal (you might have to recompile the kernal to change the name)
All the IP address provides is the owner of the IP address (i.e. verizon) and in some cases, the general location of where the IP is being used. Verizon's LTE/EHRPD network use private IP addresses so it would be difficult to pin point a phone or information based on IP. This network uses Dynamic IPs so your IP will not be the same all the time. You have to pay extra to get a static address (business account). It is illegal to use an IP to gain access to any additional information unless a court order demands this.
The point of this is that you can pretty much make your rooted phone appear stock if it was really necessary to do so. Its a variant of Linux and Linux is very easy to work with if you know what you are doing.

If you can root your phone, then its a start. Your typical average user doesn't know what root means or even care what possibilities exist. I am pretty much the only person at my job who is rooted and I've had people ask me how I got my phone to look a certain way and they want their phone like this. When I explain the root process, they say screw that. Most people I know who are rooted know exactly what they can do with a rooted device. And new comers to rooting eventually pick up speed. Linux may be intimidating at first, but once you play around, you see how easy it is.

From what I have gathered it will be the 703L. I purchased mine off Amazon and it is listed as the Honor Mediapad X2 with 16GB of Storage and 3GB of RAM in silver.
I can't believe you didn't get more help. I also just bought mine too GEM703L. And would love to know same exact thing. Which SD card do they recommend. Can I take this SIM card from my current AT&T phone and plug it into the X2 or do I have to go to AT&T store.
I've tried to read a lot and take notes on installing google Play, getting messages to work with textra, etc. But I'm just a rookie

Put your AT&T SIM in and it will read your APN settings from the SIM and just work. If you need to root there is a Root Mediapad X2 guide in here that you have to follow to root it, then you can flash TWRP in Fastboot. First you need to unlock the bootloader by sending Huawei an e-mail with some information and wait for them to reply with your unlock code. It's posted in one of these threads. Search this forum and you will find it. This is the root guide thread to follow:

I think I just expected a little different experience with replies, the fact that they were limited is fine. I just have to start playing around with different things myself, and that's ok. I just wanted to dig in and read what people were doing with their phones and learn some tips and tricks. Going outside of main stream channels to purchase a phone is a new thing for me and I was hoping for more of an experience where enthusiasts who are using the same phone would share what they are currently doing.
I agree. I always bought the next best AT&T Android that I researched. Been with the Note series as I like big phones. This will be my first phone bought outside the norm also and I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm going to keep reading and searching. Wish I knew who the best honor x2 tech guy was and Id hire him to give me personal advice and files etc and step by step what to do to get my phone 100% optimized and functional. That would be great.

(Most of the rooting information - which I don't want to do anyway because I don't want to lose my warranty). I am the type who just wants to pleasantly use a big-#$& screen phone! But I do read ALL the posts and pay attention because I do enjoy learning things along the way. I hope you at least have it working like a great cell phone... that's what I hope for...

Google and You-Tube are my friends when it comes to my Note 3 and I am definitely going to try to do things on my X2 because I feel that the people here have a more important mission than helping me! (I, too, would love my own personal X2 concierge).

If all goes well it should be here next week. I would prefer to have a game plan on what I need to do with the device once it gets here.
Things that I would like more info on are:
Step by step guide on setup out of the box
Should I replace the Huawei launcher?
Any do's and don'ts with the device.
What options I have for rooting and if its worth it?
Thanks for any help!

I created this thread yesterday. It will get you started. Yes you can replace the stock launcher. I'm using Apex Launcher. You can delete a lot of the stock apps from system/app and system/priv-app once you're rooted.

Thank you so much.
I'm nervous about bricking phone. So I will start with getting the SIM card working with my network. Getting calls and texts working. Getting play store installed. Getting textra installed. Getting it all on English. Getting buzz launcher going. Getting SD card installed and able to read and write. Getting all of my apps and data transferred over in the easiest manner (currently what I'm researching.. Looks like helium is best option)
Root will be down the line a few days. If I get the nerves up to do it.
Thanks again

DITTO. (Except maybe for Buzz Launcher and DEFINITELY rooting). My OCD is also stressing because app icons will just be an all-over-the-place mess without alphabetical order (from what I have heard) so I might be spending some time alphabetizing apps (if that's possible)! lol!

You won't brick the phone. If you get stuck in a bootloop you can put the phone in Bootloader Mode and flash the stock rom through Fastboot.
From reading around, it seems probably and most likely the bootloader will be locked which will make custom Roms and development very difficult. I am due an upgrade, thus I was wondering if anyone knows if a working Hotspot fix without root is available? Sprint variant, Note 7...just asking around before I upgrade.

@heathmcabee posted this fix here and you can find that app here.
All credit goes to @heathmcabee for the fix. And obviously it's still a guess at this point since nobody has the Sprint variant yet, but I would guess there's a good chance this works. Good luck to you!
If you want to wait, i'll test it out when I get mine this weekend and post back the results. More than welcome to PM me and remind me if I haven't reposted by Sunday.

I think that solution requires Root access. I'm reading through the thread now...

Your running it on a Note 7 too? Or, S7 like the thread it came out of? I've got the Note 7 on preorder and will be picking it up early Friday morning.

S7 like the thread. I'm also waiting on my Note7 to come, but this method isn't really device specific. It doesn't use a menu or feature that's specific to the s7. It might not work on the note 7, but I think there's a pretty good chance that it does. :good:
Agreed with you there. Fingers crossed.

When you get your device, don't let them update it. Like many of us we can setup our phone ourselves. Set it up, take nothing further than what's on the phone and try the method I explained. When I got my edge, I said to just activate the device and hand me my phone. I played around with a note 7 at a best buy while they tried to figure out my sd card gift with a guy that was there. He's lucky I didn't have a phone at the time to take pics and guess that's why he didn't mind the black woman beside me use it that was ignorant to WHaT we do. His was running on am obvious beta, but I did look and I think I saw it was PEH

Well, I should be getting mine via FedEx on Friday, but you're right, I won't take any updates
Heck, with any luck it'll be like the last time they shipped me a device. When they replaced my s7 Edge, it came w the Sprint firmware, but none of the Sprint apps. Essentially the PEH, but...not. That's probably once in a million, but I can dream lol

I've had ZERO luck. USB Tether is successful and appears to be faster than I remember. I'm continuing to try other methods as well and will update as I test things out.

What have you tried?
I tried the steps from the second post of this thread. I wasn't able to edit any of the LTE files that were found.
I tried browsing to the file location (Root is needed to access the location)
I tried the manual ##DATA# entered my MSL. I can see the APN settings screens, but the are greyed out and you cant edit them.
I've been tethering for quite a while using USB FoxFi and PDANET.
Have you had any luck?

So you were atleast able to use FoxFi over usb and PDANET to get free wired tethering to work on the Note 7? If so can you point me in the direction on how to set that up in the meantime? Thanks ahead of time.

I went through all the settings I could find but APNs were either greyed out or needed root to get to the settings. So bummer there. Might have to give the USB tethering a shot
Step by step on how to get USB tethering working with PC/Mac and Note7
1. Install PC/Mac pdaNET software. Choose whatever fits your need. http://pdanet.co/a/
2. pdaNET is part of FoxFi. Install FoxFi from the market. Do them a favor and purchase the app. It's money well spent. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.foxfi&hl=en
3. Open FoxFi and select USB Tether. And give it a sec to activate.
3a. Confirm your device is connected via USB cable. (if I don't put this in, someone will say...You didn't say I had to connect it via USB)
4. Turn on the PC/Mac portion. On my MAC, I right click the pdaNET icon and choose Connect.
Thats it. You should have a connection. I test by putting the laptop or MAC in Airplane mode and surf the net. I'd be curious to see your connection speeds. Please post!!
