[Q] Per app CPU Monitor / Logger?

So before I get told to search, I did, but nothing seemed to really answer my question.
Can anyone recommend a good app that will monitor (and preferably log) CPU usages broken down into specific apps?
I've finally got my phone modded the way I think I'll love for the duration of my contract (or at least until another phone is released that I want), but since my phone is a Desire Z it's not exactly the fastest thing ever. Anyway, I just want to ensure there aren't any specific programs or widgets that are a little CPU hungry, that way if there are, I can replace them with more lightweight ones. As well, since memory usage doesn't affect battery life nearly as much as CPU cycles I'm primarily concerned with the CPU.
Sorry for the long ramble.
An app called system panel can log the cpu usage of individual apps among other things. There is a free lite version but it only shows the current usage.

Thanks man! Now I can finally see which of my programs has been draining my battery
Another similar monitoring app i think is called watchdog task manager. There's a free (lite) and a paid version.
Five years after, same issue for me.
Sometimes I feel the phone is hot and using systempanel usually I find an app draining my cpu (Weather Underground is one of the culprits, for example).
I would like to find a lightweight cpu monitoring app with a notification service to warn me when an app is hogging the cpu, what do you suggest? The watchdog app suggested in this thread is not updated since 2012 and just crashes on my OPO on CM13.
Thank you.

Thank you for your answer, there is as least one more app but it's related to an Italian news site, my primary news source so I cannot delete it. I did not mention it because it's unknown outside Italy.

Must have apps??

What are some must have apps?? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also if you have some apps that you like just cause it's fun or you really like it that would be great.
- Titanium Backup and Rom Toolbox [FOR ROOTED PURPOSES].
- TSF SHELL {As my launcher}
- n7player {as my music player}
- SoundAbout { for faulty wires, it detects when an AUX cable is plugged in}
- ZArchiver { to unzip files }
- Alarm Clock PLUS { so i can wake up in the morning }
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE APPS???
Ok. For me the must have apps are:
1. Google Service Framework.
2. Input.
3. LBE Privacy Guard (If I need to control the privacy permission and data usage).
4. Link2SD.
5. WPS Office.
6. Youdao Dictionary
As for launcher, I'm using CM's Trebuchet.
Falcon Pro - Twitter client
Action Launcher Pro - Minimal launcher with quick access to search and App drawer
Pocket - Google Reader
Exynos SIII; CM10.1
For me...
Titanium backup.. A must if you like to switch roms often.
TSF Shell as my launcher... In my opinion the best launcher out there. More than worth the money
Power amp player as my default music player... The best in my opinion as it has a built in equalizer where you can tweak the sounds to your liking.
Button savior... Only because I have a modded body glove case to house my anker 4440mah extended battery and I don't like pushing the buttons too much and this app allows the main buttons to be on the screen.
Zedge... Only because I switch wallpapers constantly and Zedge fits them the best to the s3 screen without cropping or resizing

1. Action Launcher pro - personally I love the launcher, it's simple to use, and does a good job of simplifying everything. I feel as if it's still a young launcher, so there are somethings missing like being able to back up the current set up, but it's impressive, and continues to get better with every update.
2. Snapchat - instead of sending a text you can send a picture or video for a specified amount of time for a friend to view. it's fun to use.
3. Chrome Beta - it works the same as the regular Chrome browser but seems to be a little faster.
4. Google Drive - same as Dropbox, but it's connected to your gmail account. If you're an android user, which I expect you to be if you're on this link, than using google drive is a benefit.
5. Skydrive - is you use Microsoft than Skydrive is good to have. I keep all of my photos and video's on here, and keep my files on google drive, and dropbox.

Sorry but it don't know if I understand the first question. Do you want to know what those apps do?
And the 2.:
You should never use any Battery Calibration app. Afaik those apps reduce battery life if you use them too often. I've read some articles on the internet about that and it seems that the best for your (lithium ion / lithium polymer) battery is to keep the charge level between 20/50% and 80%. This means that you should avoid going below 20% and over 80% and charge the battery when its under 50%. And also NEVER under- or overcharge it. This may cause serious damage! Those things should extend your battery life to the maximum. And again: I'm no expert on this. This is just what I've read from people who say that they are experienced with such things
If you have a new battery and that's why you are asking:
The battery needs 4 or 5 complete charge cycles to get to its full capacity (5 x 0% to 100% or 10 x 50% to 100% or 25 x 40% to 60% and so on)
GAME APPS
- Magic Piano
- Hill Climb Racing
- Temple Run 2
- Subway Surfer
I would typically play these apps when I'm bored

This app does consume high amount of ram than greenify. For 512mb ram, this app isn't made. It's my opinion because we've greenify and it takes only 3mb while this app takes 24mb.

Most of those features are impossible to implement without root.
What's the difference between this and the Greenify app? Dots it do anything better?
I like your app and what it can do especially the greenify thing that is not available on GB. However is it really necessary for your application to remain in memory after doing its thing? It eats up 7-10mb and is unkillable. Doesn't make sense that the purpose of this app is to free RAM from other apps while your app itself eats a considerable amount of RAM and cannot be killed.
@uusafe Please stop using the word "Greenify" in your app and anything related to your app in the same domain of my app "Greenify", since "Greenify" is a well-know name for my app and I reserve the right of the name.

@oasisfeng Sorry for causing the misunderstanding.
We really appreciate the mission of your app, so we developed a similar app in our own way upon our own understanding, e.g. we apply different algorithm and mechanism to stop unwanted background services and we utilize different approaches to help users to save battery, memory and data consume.
If the quote of “Greenify” bothers you, we’ll change the name in the coming version.

Thanks for liking our app.In short, we reach different goals from Greenify.
With UU, you can manage background services, autorun and push notifications all in one go. We give intelligent advice on managing apps on a basis of continuous manually improved database.
In specific, we apply our own algorithm and multiple approaches to stop running background services.
Last but not least, we are seeking the ultimate solution to save your battery, memory and data consume and to block annoying pops-up.

[Q] Who is drops my battery??

Hi,
a month ago, my battery consumption was fantastic. A good example is the month_ago attachment.
Now, two weeks ago my battery consumption is horrible and can not find the explanation.
I installed a couple of applications of GPS and Maps, but are already uninstalled.
I made a test 6 hours without any use, no GPS, no BT, no WiFi, no 3G, no calls and has spent almost 50%.
BetterBattery Stats not give me any application that is consuming the battery.
Any idea how I can find out?
Model: Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V
Rom: Legacy Xperia 10.1 CM
Android: 4.2.2
Anyone have any idea?

a few ideas to start your ball rolling
uninstall task "killers": android already does this for you
IF root: BootManager (XPosed Framework) : control which apps launch on power up
IF any app shows web ads = malware. uninstall. not only does it steal bandwidth, but also wastes battery
reflect on your use of "background data"
reflect on your frequency of checking for updates (email, social whoring, other messages)
consider your screen brightness settings
have you tinkered with 'perfomance' options via a ROOT app
a change in usage habits will be reflected by a change in battery longevity : this is purely rational
IF root: AFwall+ : track app use of your internets interfaces [wifi, mobile, bt pan, etc]
again: uninstall ALL adware or apps showing web ads. Or use certain root tools for ripping out the ad loading junk of existing apps. Blocking ads is not as effective as preventing apps from requesting ads per se

You can also post your BBS log in that thread and they will analyze it for you. The screenshots only tell part of the story. Good luck.

Hi,
first of all, thanks for your replies.
Before answers all replies, more info...
In my holidays, I needed a GPS in my tablet, but dont work. So, in my phone, I´d installed "GPS over BT". The idea was pair devices, get location gps with the phone and send over bt to the tablet.
Therefore, when using the applications, devices were being charged at once.
When holidays ends, apps are uninstalled and the problems begins.
I think that the gps and bluetooh have been set enabled, but I'm going to the settings and there are disabled.

https://f-droid.org/repository/brow...g.broeuschmeul.android.gps.bluetooth.provider
The idea was pair devices, get location gps with the phone and send over bt to the tablet.

Oh, that is suboptimal. With BlueGPS you pair a GNSS receiver to your tablet (or phone). BlueTooth uses less battery than phone GPS.
Therefore, when using the applications, devices were being charged at once.

Not all phones draw more power than they use. There are several devices for sale that will help you identify this better than installed apps.
Search amazon: usb power monitor
One such is:

This is prudent system wide. Overclock without exogenous cooling is extra foolish. Per-app CPU throttling is a different matter. Changing "nice" level per-app might help.

I can use simple English. Some people take offense. Your English is better than my any other language.
Hi,
thanks for the new reply.
I've been pretty busy and I could not answer before.
I made a test with another battery from another phone of the same model with the same age as my battery, but less hours of usage.
The results are as follows: in the same scenario as the previous test, uses almost 25% less than before.
So, it seems that the battery is nearing its end slowly. Attach any images.
I decided to buy a new battery (with more capacity, and < 7$) and test how it behaves.
If it continues much the same, I will reinstall the current ROM that I have, beacuse I'm pretty happy with it and I'm tired of researching which application is causing the problem.
Thank you so much for all the replys and all the tips and recommendations. I really appreciate it

Battery Drain SOLUTION !

Hello peeps,
some story:
"
Just 3 days ago i bought my S8 comming from iPhone 7 Plus ( imagine the worry i had ) because of the phone sive/screen .
the 7 plus had a great battery which never disappointes you and yea i thought the s8 is the same.
first day i noticed the drain and i thought it is because the app downloading and so on .
some personal searching and tries here it is
"
To The Solution ( 2 ways to be done ) .
1 : Apps Location permission
Battery drains because of the GPS , any app with the permission could wake the gps and use it without using the app .
1- Go to settings -> Apps -> Press thr " 3 dots " ••• -> App permission
2- here is the treasure *huehue*
Go to " Location "
• Uncheck everything ( if you wanna keep some your choice but to see if the drain is stopped )
EXCEPT !
• √ Google play services ( sadly a MUST )
• √ Google ( for google assistant )
TA Daaaaa ! Done
------------
2 : from Apps -> Google play services -> Storage -> Manage storage -> Clear All Data
√ nothing will be deleted nor changed from your google account
-------
Hope this helps you and cheers you up as it did to me when i reached to it
the 3rd day im testing the battery with
AOD always !
LOCATION High accurasy
FHD+
WIFI 80% | Data 20% of time
Edge lightining
Youtube Fb Insta and so on
•
battery on 28-29%
with 5 h 30 mins SOT
cannot add attachments for a reason idk why :/
tell me the your results
Doing step 2 would further add to your woes as everytime you clean it, it would again build up the cache resulting in further drain. I agree with step 1 and you can further disallow it for few system apps like Samsung Connect, Bixby voice etc. Populate the system apps from the 3 dot menu in app permissions. Those are the real suckers.

It's also takes the battery/phone about 3-5 days to learn your usage pattern, so at first battery life doesn't seem that great.
Another HUGE battery drain on the snapdragon models is IQ services, you will need BK package disabler to disable app services.
Two bad drains are wifi always scanning and search for near by devices, those can both be turned off in settings/connections.

Great We have got EXTRA solutions . :good:
Thank you guys :fingers-crossed:
Great trick, worked for me even with package disabler, custom tuned kernel, disabling that location permission improves my battery life for about 5-10%. Thanks

What are the process names? Can't seem to find it
Surprised no one has mentioned Facebook and Facebook Messenger. Both of them use a ton of battery but it's hidden from usage monitors.
Uninstaller both of them and install Facebook Lite and Messenger Lite.
Even those are resource hogs, though, so you can use BK Package Disabler to disable many of their processes (I believe it's 16 and 9 processes respectively) and boom, low resource Facebook apps.

Thanks! followed the steps on here and will report back. I was getting about 4 sot.
The fact that Facebook comes pre installed really grinds my gears.

Not just Facebook. Facebook, Facebook messenger, and two additional Facebook apks that deal with its own update system. It's ****ing ridiculous.
Not sure if we know about this. I tried it out for FB and it works: https://www.xda-developers.com/freeze-app-background-processes-without-root-android-nougat/
The apps just dont use any services when in background. No need of any drastic steps

It's in Android system app/services/iqservice tick to off, this is using BK package disabler only, I don't think the other package disablers have this option to shut off specific services within the app like BK disabler does.
Works for me! Thanks very much!
I looking for a solution have months. My galaxy S7 had the same problem and I had to sold. I bought S8 and after few week the same battery problems occurred. This is the only solution that really worked Thank very much!

Doesn't work?
What S8 are you using? Because there is no location option in my app three dots , nor is there a clear all data option in Google play services...
Disabling device maintanance also work for me as it running all time for no reason if you know how to clean, maintanace your phone. Nothing is broken only now cant see battery usage but install some sort of battery monitor app if you need this reports of usages..

This. If it weren't for fb and messenger, my battery life would be steller. With moderate use, thanks to them, I drain about 10-15% battery an hour. I caught them using the SystemPanel 2 app.
Anyone know what "IntelligenceSevice2" is? Safe/beneficial to disable or no?
