I have the same issue on my XZ5 and waiting a call back from Sony Repair Center as I did not do something which can damage the 3.5mm jack port...
Very bizarre

i had the same problem with my z1 and i found out that there was some cotton inside it , i removed it worked without a problem

Well i tried to "Clean" mine, now it complete is dead. I used a light wire brush. Sony said I had to send it in for 14 day turn around. Think I'll just use Bluetooth

[Q] Camera crashes after replacing digitiser, anyone had this?

Ok so I replaced my own digitiser to save £100 at the repair shop.
All went ok and the phone works fine now apart from the camera - which crashes every time I open it. Same result with any app, one app said it couldn't connect to the camera and then closed, so I guess I've done something to it.
All looks ok, no loose connections, but camera still fails. Any ideas?
Had this with my legend mine turned out to be a connection on the actual camera shorting out,Check all the pins around the camera pod for damage

Yeah checked and all seem ok, but the camera is still borked so it's gotta be something like that.
I'll open her up again for another check, just hope I can fix it. Mightily annoying having no camera.
Oh well
Also check to see that no wires get crimped or smashed down when you put everything back together. I replaced a friend's iPhone digitizer and had something pretty similar happen. The connection was there but stuff wasn't working right. Took it apart and saw wires were sort of smashed so was more careful the next time. No wires were damaged or anything and after doing it again everything worked perfectly and still does.

Good tip thanks, will try that tonight.
Hi all, can confirm the same problem, on the same phone, and the same sort of solution, thanks to your suggestions.
It came down to the black lock block on the ribbon connector being askew. Very fiddly to put back but now the camera works....Hmmm better check the front camera now.....

Screen ribbon ripped

So basically, my phone wasn't turning on at all but luckily i had a couple tricks up my sleeve and i decided since i have no warranty i'd tinker it myself so i opened it up and had a look at every single part and realise there was a couple hotshots over the device and on ribbon connections so i scratched them all off and soldered a cable back, however whilst in the process i stupidly ripped a ribbon which sends colour to the screen, does anyone know any quick temp way to fix this ribbon? :s

[Q] Vibrations not working - back cover won't stick

Hey guys,
last night I decided to replace the back cover of my Xperia Z3. I've ordered an original one and got to work. First problem is that it won't stick - the adhesive sucks. Shall I heat it up with a hair dryer or something? I don't want to damage anything inside the phone itself. And here we go to the second problem - after installing the new back cover the vibrations stopped working. I've performed a full wipe, reinstalled another ROM (wiped System, Data, Dalvik and so on) but it still won't work. Since it's a hardware problem, which part shall I check and then replace? The buzzer itself or maybe some connections?
Thanks in advance
Anyone?

Z3 shares same flex cable for the power, volume buttons, lcd and vibration so u need to check the flex cable.
I recently replaced mine due to stupid service center people refused to entertain my warranty.
If you not so sure, u can take help from professionals.
And you can get the adhesive online somewhere if you damaged the supplied adhesive with the back panel.
Also be very careful while putting that adeshive first put on the panel and stick the panel to phone back.
Gud luck..

Thanks, I just ordered the flex cable yesterday after some reading and I will be replacing it today or tomorrow. My warranty was refused due to me replacing the back panel on my own :good: Thumbs up for all the warranty services. Soon we won't be able to change wallpapers without getting our warranty void.

you sure the flex cable is not faulty?
also try to diagnose the vibration by system diagnostic.

It was brand new and everything else works.
EDIT: now the upper part of the screen won't work... Today is just one of those days... I changed the flex cables back and forth - same issue. No vibrations and no upper screen reaction. FML.

Can u check with old flex if the screen is functioning if yes then your new cable must be faulty.
I had no such issues, and since you yourself opened the device it should not have any issue with motherboard

I switched between flex cables and the problems persists. I've been sitting and trying to fix this with various ROMs, cables, buzzers and other things for 8 hours now. I'm gonna reassemble the phone as carefully as possible, flash stock ROM and send it to Sony again. Maybe this time I'll get lucky and they won't see that it's been opened... I don't feel like spending 300$ on fixing it on my own.

Were you ever able to fix this? I had the same exact problem as you, replaced the LCD/digitizer on my Z3 (D6603) and then re-installed everything and now my vibrate motor doesn't work. I bought a new flex cable/with vibrator motor, installed the new one, but the same problem occurs. Vibrate doesn't work at all.

Unfortunately, along with the vibrations, also my screen stopped working. I gave it to the warranty service, where they told me it's my fault, cause the damage is mechanical (how? I have no clue, cause there was not a single scratch on the phone) and they proposed a repair that would cost 110% of the phone's market value. I simply sold it for parts on eBay and bought an SGS6 Edge. No more Sony for me - their support sucks ape balls.

I can confirm the fuse fixed my buzzer.
My fuse had blown open somehow so I replaced it from a donor board and now it vibrates as it should.
Oh it's just above the clip that holds the board in place to the left of the large cable j-tag connector for the on/off vol camera and buzzer/vibratorView attachment 4720024
Yes that's the Z3 dual but is the same for the D6603
And he sold his phone by parts at last
Lol ?.. ......
I enjoyed this a lot

Random headphones notifications after phone contact with water ?

Hi all
i noticed that after dropping my Z5 in water or even try to clean it with some water , I keep getting the headphones connected
and headphones disconnected notification .
after that I need to make sure that head phones port is dry and try connecting and disconnecting my headphones several times
to fix the problem
I wonder if other Z5 user have same problem ? and if that's normal ?
Others with any Z phone have experienced this. Water in the headphone jack causes this sometimes. Ensure it is completely dry and the issue should resolve itself.
Yeah, it happened to me 2 days ago. Only lasted about 10 mins after I dried the jack out with paper towel.

Z5 Water Damage

Short story , yesterday my z5 felt in to water , i was washing something at the sink at it just felt . Took it from the water and surprisse somehow the water got inside even if the flap was closed and now i have some water drops on the camera lens, can't make calls with it without the handsfree and can't play music on stereo speakers because in the taskbar every 3 seconds a notification appears sayng that the headphones are conected then disconnected but on the headphones i can listen to music + the camera app doesn't recognise the front camera anymore. Thanks to the sd810 (heating source) some of the water from the camera is starting to go away. Is there something that i can do with it exept warranty (i don't have that) ? Exept the problems listed above the phone is working perfectly.
Shove it in a bowl of rice for a day or two. Somewhere warm, but not *hot*. Direct sunlight would be okay. Your goal is to evaporate/absorb the rest of the moisture out.

Well , thanks to the hot sd810 the water around the camera is gone and now the back camera, calling and speakers are working fine but the front camera is still not detected by the camera apps maybe it still has some water in that area and it will come back in a few days
It's a fairly bad idea to keep using electronics that you know water has penetrated. I wouldn't be surprised if the front camera doesn't come back, but even still I would recommend doing what I said in my first post.

droped my z1 and used it a lot of times in water , never tought that the z5 could get water damage by a simple splash . I'll leave it at the suntlight to see if the camera will come back. The flap was opened since the splash so the water could evaporate and get out
My phone is working good when used after being submerged in water but everytome i do this every time i get a notification saying that headphones are connected and disconnected for almost 10 mins then it works fine, my phone pass the pressure test perfectly, is this a common issues? I didn't used to have this problem with my old Xperia z1
I intentionally put my Z5 on water and have the same problems as yours, it is normal. Just dry it with a towel, make sure no water drops from the jack port, turn it off and on and done.
What flap?

I was going to ask the same thing until I remembered the SIM/microSD flap on the side.
Looks like i lost the front camera...guess i'll have to use the back one or the front one from the z1..happy that everyting else is working as new
Mine fell in pool. It had problems with audio jack and screen. I put it in the rice over night and problems were gone, but today after using it for about 4-5 hours the screen problem came back. It just became dark gray, without picture, so reset it few times. It shows the first Sony logo for 2 seconds and than becomes dark again. I put it back in rice. How much longer should I left it in?
