How to install viper4android on a rooted phone - the easy way - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Discussion

I'm a huge fan of viper4android and a big reason why I'll always stick with this awesome OS, but I didn't manage to install it on my new s7 edge yet. I found all kinds of guides that turned out to be too complicated for me and I was to lazy to bother with them. No disrespect to the authors of those guides, I'm sure we all appreciate them but they might be too much for novice users.
So I was looking around in the development area to see what's new and noticed that the KryxOS developer has a flashable zip of viper4android in the 3rd post.
That's right, it's just a flashable zip that you flash with twrp like any other ROM, you reboot the phone and you will find the viper app, you install the driver and reboot again and that's it, no need to freeze/uninstall adapt sound and so on, it's that easy.
It's been a long time since I last used this mod, back when I had my old note 3, and I forgot how F*****ING AMAZING this mod is. Bass boosted songs blow my ears again and I'm having eargasms.
Here is the link to the 3rd post of the KryxOS thread: [ROM] | G935F/FD | APD1 | KryxOS | Release V1.3 | 4/18 | Smooth | Stable | Fast | - Post #3

RECOVERIES :
1. BOOT MENU MANAGER ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.projectlense.bootmenu.manager&hl=en[/ ) aka BMM
2. CWM TOUCH ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1686598&highlight=cwm)
[ As most of the new ROM's are all BMM compatible it is advised to use it instead of CWM ]
A detailed guide on BMM and how to use it is given here for MULTI Booting ROM's ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2115715 )
CUSTOM KERNEL's :

This kernel is in a .zip format and can be directly flashed via BMM

IT WAS HIGH TIME SOMEONE MADE AN INDEX OF THE AVAILABLE ROM'S FOR OUR BELOVED A2
ENJOY !!!!!
DON'T FORGET TO CLICK ON THE THANKS BUTTON IF THIS HELPED YOU XD
Hi
This thread is for all you people new to the atrix 2
it is a simple way to view all that we have in store for customizing the a2.......:d
The problem with this kind of thread is that it is rare that the people that need it spelled out for them like this won't bother taking the time to read them. Good effort though.
u have missed something in OP .... u forgot to put CM10 on list ....
as i know..., we will got the official one soon...
btw ..., nice thread for noob ... :good:
I put up this thread to help all those noobs who keep posting what should i do which ROM should i download my Ctd.bin file error when i flash RSD
this is to simplify it for all of them
And i noticed our A2 doesnt have a list of ROM's and an index page so i think it will be useful to everyone
as it covers a wide range of problems
Although its a WIP ill keep adding more tips and other ROM's it will be easier to access all the links in one page rather than searching
all the forums for the correct one......
Just a thread to Help everyone and show our appreciation to the DEV's who made it all happen....

All the ppl on the apex noob q&a thread keep asking the same questions and dont bother even searching the forums
This thread will answer most of their problems and decrease the amount of noob posts regarding the same problem over and over again
Just post this thread whenever they ask something that way they can see all the issues in one place and get all their issues solved.

Or simply tell them to read over the development section. This forum has always had a problem with repetitive questions. Encouraging others to read and educate themselves can help to resolve some (but not all) of that. I'm not saying that you were wrong in posting this thread, just don't be surprised or discouraged when it inevitably gets ignored by those who would benefit the most from it.
If I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd be making money in a very weird way.

Make sure that it is not capitalized. If you want to see the exact name that the system is looking for then open the zip, find the file named desc.txt and open it in a text editor/viewer. You'll see a line that looks like:
s droidhd.ogg
The "s" means that the animation will use a sound and what follows is what the name of the sound is. Then just make sure that the bootanimation.zip and the audio file are both in /system/media with the correct permissions, etc.
As far as getting it running on jb. I haven't found anything that seems to work. From what I've read, it seems as though it might have to be supported by the ROM and/or kernel. But I'm not positive of that.

There is nothing like the perfect ROM its the dev's who put in the hardwork to make it possible
So please don't say this is the perfect ROM etc...
Each ROM is unique in its own way and everyone has their own perfect ROM that suits them........
So keep flashing all the amazing ROM's we have and choose what best suits your needs......:silly:
This is probably a dumb question, and I'm sure there's a thread about it that I couldn't find, but to install a custom kernel would you just go into BMM recovery and install zip like with the ROM, GApps, etc.? And if so, any extra steps to take to install it without having to like reflash the ROM and losing all my ****?

[ROM] [5.0] Plasma ROM

Welcome to Plasma ROM!
The most frequently updated ROM for this phone!
Note: It is HIGHLY recommended to, after installing this ROM (or any ROM) to use a Battery Calibration app! This almost doubled my battery life, and will likely do the same for you!
Features:
- Based off the newest OC4 firmware for Verizon Wireless
- Debloated
- One of the few ROMs with working SHealth!
- Easy install
- Cool boot animation
- Dark themed using @AL_IRAQI's layers themes
- Android 5.0 Lollipop
- Working SBrowser - much faster than Chrome (and uses less battery power)
- Download booster working out of the box
- Updates every weekend!
- Battery life seems to be amazing
- UPSM works flawlessly
Install instructions:
Prerequisites:
Must have SafeStrap installed
Must have a windows computer on hand with Odin
Must have an external SD card (SafeStrap also requires this)
Must have about 20-30 minutes
1) Download the ROM.
2) Boot into SafeStrap, click "Wipe," click "Advanced Wipe," then select all the boxes except for your external SD card!!!!
3) Click "Install" and select the ROM. Install it. Do not flash the UPDATE-SuperSU.zip! The ROM already has root!
4) Once the ROM is installed, reboot into Download mode.
5) Use Odin to flash the OC4 firmware only tar (link in the Downloads section)
6) Reboot and enjoy!
Please note that the first boot will take anywhere from 5-20 minutes, so be patient!
Known bugs:
- Settings app is slightly laggy. It's still perfectly usable though. I need to zipalign that APK in the next update.
Credits:
- Thanks to jrkruse, I used his OC4 ROM as a base. I also used his themes Settings and Messages apps.
- Thanks to AL_IRAQI, I used his layers themes. (This is the themed notification dropdown and keyboard.)
- Thanks to elliwigy, for answering many questions and for a list of debloatable things.
- Thanks to geohot for root, ChainFire for SuperSU (and FlashFire), and Hashcode for SafeStrap. Without these 3 people, none of these ROMs would be possible.
I would also like to give a HUGE shoutout to Verizon, for locking the bootloaders and doing everything in their power to prevent any of this good stuff from happening.

Gonna try this out later, when I get home.
Sweet this has to be my first time trying out a ROM in the beginning. Why is it that your install instructions are sooo much more simple and straight forward than the other ROMs? Also, I'm coming from Ricks Rom 20 - NK2...shouldn't have any issues right? Just a fresh wipe in safestrap? Also, I kind of screwed up my phone trying to upgrade to BOC4 yesterday and ever since, I can't get my WIFI to work. I know that its not pertinent to this thread but I haven't been on here in a while and was hoping for some advice on how to fix that. I'm not sure if I just did a fresh wipe and upgraded to your Rom, or did a kernel flash it will help. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
How do you get the weekend updates? I would like to find xposed installer that would work with this rom and also a way to boot into Safestap......... Got any updates for these issues?

Seems to work very smooth! I like everything. Just need the options stated above.....
