This thread is for the custom Froyo rom for the Flytouch 2. It is a port of the first Flytouch 3/Superpad 2 Froyo rom, adapted to run on the flytouch 2. I will update this post whenever a new version has been released.
This rom will only run on tablets which display a version number in the bottom-right "Infotmic" screen when first turned on.. If yours doesn't display a number there, you will need to flash firmware v2852 first, see below in FLASHING V2852
INSTALLATION
Installation is slightly different from normal releases because it requires flashing in 2 steps. Luckily, it's really easy:
1. Download bootable SD-card image and unzip. Pick an image from the RELEASES section at the end of this post.
2. Write image to an SD-card that's at least 1GB in size using Win32DiskImager:
Get Win32DiskImager here: https://launchpad.net/win32-image-writer
In Win32DiskImager: When you open it, there is a button to browse the .img file and after that, at the right of this button there is a selector for the SD-card. Select it, then click write and it's done.
When finished, take out the card.
In linux, you just unzip the file and use dd to write it to the sd-card:
Code:
dd if=/path/to/sdcard.img of=/dev/sdX # (where sdX is your scsi disk device, check dmesg)
3. Turn off tablet and put sd-card in TOP slot (between the 2 usb ports).
4. Turn on tablet. It will report that it is booting off the sd-card, and that it's flashing kernel + filesystems.
5. Take out the sd-card when the tablet asks you to do so (takes less than a minute). Put it in the OTHER sd-card slot (bottom one), and reboot the tablet by holding down the power for 10 seconds to turn it off, then press it again to turn it on.
6. You will now see the tablet booting with a *GREEN* screen. The screen will flash twice to indicate it's starting. The flashing itself will take longer than in the previous step, a few minutes. If succesful, it will automatically reboot, after which you're done and you're booting the new firmware! You'll see a different boot screen (equalizer on a black background)
7. After it has booted and you have unlocked the screen, reboot the tablet first thing! First boots in android always tend to be behave erratically. This is unrelated to this firmware and applies to all Android setups.
If step 6 fails (which is very unlikely), it will stay on the green screen and it will keep on flashing the screen. In that case, you'll have to turn it off. Most likely problem for this is a corrupt SD-card. See troubleshooting below.
Make sure to never put that sd-card back in the top-slot without erasing it first, as it will reflash your tablet!
TROUBLESHOOTING
The 'green screen' keeps flashing!
The installer will dump a text file on the root of the sd-card which you can inspect. The file is called fail_reason.txt. If no such file exists, things are seriously wrong and the tablet couldn't even properly write to the sd-card. If using another SD-card, or rewriting the SD-card doesn't help, please upload the fail_reason.txt file here.
Flashing was succesful, but the system freezes at the android animation!
For this firmware to work, you need to have a recent version of u-boot. You can tell if you have this by looking at the INFOTMIC bootscreen you see when you turn on the tablet. If the bottom right corner does not show a version number, then you don't have it.See instructions below.
FLASHING V2852
You need to flash this firmware to install a new version of u-boot. To flash this firmware, you will need to connect your tablet to your PC using an USB A-A cable, OR create a bootable SD-card.
Download firmware V2852: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?3bkklw36b1414nd
Download and unpack IUW: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?3572bd7zfjo0r0y
Start IUW
If you use an USB cable: Click 'Link USB' on the left, select 'easy burn' from USB Mode pulldown in the right. Connect tablet to PC with the tablet turned offf, then turn it on by pressing & holding the menu+home buttons, then pressing the power button until it turns on. Release the menu+home buttons after a few seconds. Windows should now detect a new USB device. Install the drivers that are in the iuw1.1/otg_driver directory.
If you create a bootable SD-card, Click 'boot disk' on the left instead. Select sd-card to flash on the right
Select the IUS file form the v2852 firmware under 'Choose a wrapped image'
Click 'burn' to flash the tablet or create the sd-card. If you created an sd-card, boot the tablet with the sd-card in the top-slot, between the 2 USB connections.

How to enable 3G support for USB dongles?
(**) Tested:
wifi, ethernet port
battery status works, g-sensor works
touchscreen works, including calibration
HD video playback works (I recommend Meridian player)
Market works (full), Youtube works
angry birds works ( thought I'd mention it )
The firmware has already been rooted! You can connect using adb over wifi, and type 'su' to become root. Find your IP address using the Android System Info app.

Hi everyone.
I just made a personal version of system.tar.gz, and I thought it could be usefull for someone.
Most considerable changes:
Calendar and contacts synchronization now working again.
Simple stock froyo keyboard, without chinese characters.
Replaced youtube with the old working version.
Market updated to last version (no paid apps, though.).
Default launcher replaced with launcher pro, which is considerably faster.
Removed phone and telephony settings (see below)
Other changes:
Removed stock browser, replaced with dolphin browser HD.
Removed default file explorer, replaced with File expert (first free file explorer with working root that I found).
Changed alarm clock.
Changed calculator (but has wrong visualization).
Changed music player with music mod.
Added facebook, maps (+ navigation + latitude +places), chrome to phone, google search, google reader, terminal emulator, Titanium backup, voice search. adobe reader.
Maybe I deleted some other stupid flytouch stock apps, but actually I don't remember.
Warning, notes etc...:
All apps are free apps from market.
Phone apps (Phone.apk, TelephonySettings.apk) removed for test, due to suspected battery drain (Someone said so...), so:
Phone settings don't work (gives you force close when you tap on mobile settings menu)
Don't install if you use 3g adapters, as I think you won't be able to use them.
Maybe some future workarounds for paid apps on market won't work.
App2sd doesn't work. (Didn't even work before. I think there's some problem in the kernel with device mapper and crypto). I'll try to implement the fake app2sd that uses an ext partition on sd.
This is just a personal versionof stargulus' system files with apps I'm used to have on my phone, so maybe it won't fit you.
How to install:
First important step: boot in recovery mode (back + home +power until you get in recovery menu), and wipe cache and data. This must be done. It also helps to have stragulus' calibration file installed correctly.
Prepare the sd as described in the first post of this thread using the last Stragulus' sdcard image (v4, See link in this post).
Go to "stage2" directory and replace system.tar.gz and system.tar.gz.md5 with the downloaded ones.
Flash.
The first boot will be quite long, but it's normal.
While using the flytouch for the first time, it will probably lag and hang. Just reboot and it won't happen anymore.

I hope this will be usefull. Advices are welcome.

Cheers! I welcome custom mods of the base rom. I'm willing to add them as alternatives to the first post by linking to the introductory posts. In this case, it looks like parts of it are suitable for integrating into the base froyo rom (e.g. calendar & contact sync fix). What exactly did you do to fix those?
Wonderful, downloading now at 7.8K/sec (why sooooo slow?)
Is Google Sync fixed?
Thanks,
Barak
Later:
Well, if I add Verandi's MOD I get sync but I loose calibration option.
Still, I prefer the MOD with sync.
Thank you guys. Amazing Job !!!
1-5-2011
Please note that verandi has created a V5 mod that adds sync option without eliminating calibration.

In my case loader version number is missing. But u0 is 0.6.1.2_1.4.587_OV2655 and u-boot from 2852. And all work fine.
Probably condition is flashing firmware 2852 in the tablet instead of only u0?
IMHO.
Because the firmware is full image and contained u-boot and u0. Flashing u0 need only if camera don't work with 2852 from full image. Of course, if the tablet has not been purchased already with firmware 2852 and above. Without this step you will get many reports of "fre-e-e-ezing" or "stop in android on screen" like in the previous thread.
hello
I have stitched from card Froyo V5
The tablet is loaded and asks calibration, but it does not work: (
Was 3245, but it has ceased to be loaded and I have updated on Froyo
I do not know what at me uboot how it to look? Probably to update it with sd?

Ask question in Russian. I tuzzz from the forum china-iphone.ru.
Вообщем поставил Froyo (v5)
google translate:
In general set Froyo (v5)
after flashing at the first startup, a calibration screen, but clicking does not react
put back 3245, her everything is ok
Is this possible because of the boot uboot, as you can see its version and whether it is possible to update it with SD, because capabilities with a PC no?
Answer on russian forum.

That could be true indeed! I thought those who fixed their problem only flashed U0, but maybe all of them actually tried to flash all of v2852 with the IUW tool. Upshot here is that it should be possible to flash the entire firmware using a bootable SD-card, e.g. not requiring an USB cable.
Can anyone confirm that creating the bootable SD-card for FW2852 using IUW as described in the first post fixed their install of the froyo setup?
If you create a bootable SD-card, Click 'boot disk' on the left instead. Select sd-card to flash on the right
Select the IUS file form the v2852 firmware under 'Choose a wrapped image'

Excellent Work
Many thanks stragulus!!!!!!!
Now I once again have a usable Pad - the Calibration works perfecly!!!
My route to Froyo was from 3245 to v4. I HAD to flash U-Boot-Nand FIRST. This gave me the Infotm code in the bottom R.H.corner. The only problem was with the calibration.
Again MANY THANKS. Please continue to develop for the Pad.

Hmm. I do now recall that someone tried all those methods before to no avail. When I flashed this firmware, I think I did:
* Flash all of FW2852 (over USB)
* Found out that it didn't work 100% as it still booted an older ramdisk
* So after that, flashed U0 with u-boot-nand.bin. That triggered the 2-minute tablet going crazy on first boot.
* Then flashed all of FW2852 again, and now it worked.
Soo.. I think bottomline is, if you haven't seen the tablet go crazy for 2 minutes, it probably didn't work. Question is, is just flashing U0 once with u-boot-nand.bin enough..? It appears this does not work for everyone!?

Hi!
I replaced GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk and GoogleCalendarSyncadapter.apk with the ones from my phone. I am 98% sure I replaced only these two, because I didn't note down the names.
Now I'm trying to solve the next problem I have in the list: I can't leave the pad in standby, as it drains the battery like it was awake.
Yesterday I had a look at proc/wakelocks file to see which processes are requesting wakelocks.
Comparing this file to others around the net and the one of my phone, I found out that some processes were active during standby (they had 0 value in sleep_time row).
Now I haven't here my flytouch, so I can't be precise (I'll edit this lines next days), but I remember that some processes and powermanager were never sleeping (in all other wakelocks files, powemanager was sleeping on standby but main process not, so I think powermanager is faulty and main process not.).
Powermanager is a class contained in system/framework/services.jar so I tried replacing this file with my phone's one. It worked as the wakelocks file was showing that powermanager began to sleep on standby, but I had no improvement in battery life on standby, as, I'm quite sure, the other processes prevent the full sleep of the device.
To you and everyone who reads this: can you give me a help?
Can you fully recharge the flytouch, then disconnect the power supply, note down the start time, live it in sleep mode and then measure how long it takes to get discharged?
It tried myself today: unplugged at 16.30, left it in standby, died at around 19:20 ---> 2h50m of battery power on standby.
(If you also can tell me how long it stays on when you use it, and what kind of use you made, I would really appreciate too! )
Hail to Stragulus.. unlocking the beast!!!!
stragulus,
as usual.. I am riding on someone else's brilliance.. thanks for the update..
Will load it up tonight when get home from work..
My only wish is app2sd...
it has made such an improvement to my Evo with ability to load programs in..
So if someone wants to come up with a fix.. I am sure you will make many internally grateful!!!!
Edit after flashing:
Flashed the clean version WITHOUT verandi addons..
the Calibration works perfectly
feels fast and clean..
had problems with launcher pro .. and Titanium backup..
for some reason using Launcher pro it would not allow Titanium to see the sdcard.. thus couldnt restore my backups..
Played round for a while.. upgraded to Titanium 3.6.1.1 same thing..
went in and wiped Dalvik cache.. still no go..
have shut down launcher pro and installed ADWlauncher (almost the same as launcher pro)
walla.. now Titanium is seeing the SDcards and backup.. confirmed that it restored backed programs and data..
Market is working for me.. just wondering if we can port market from Myn’s Warm TwoPointTwo - RLS 5 into this rom..
as this may be the workaround that will get past the only free apps showing.. I am using it on my Evo and in China..
so usually only get to see free apps.. but with MWTPT I am getting all apps.. I do understand there is a app floating round that is suppose to be able to reset Market in to thinking it is in a zone that will allow it to show all apps.. may need it to load in to this Rom..
Will put it through its paces and report back over the coming week..

Hmmm. This time is extremely low for standby mode. I use kernel from 3245. With this kernel battery indicator won't work properly but OS works more stable.
Also I removed Phone.apk and TelephonyProvider.apk. I don't need 3g modem. And 3g modem still does not work with this firmware.
With full charged battery I disconnected charger from tablet at 22:00 (in my local time). Now is 5:25 in my local time and tablet has ~4% battery indicator. From my experience tablet shut down after 5-10 minutes. All this time tablet is in standby.
Verandi
Excellent work and thank you for the Google sync fix - it makes my wowpad WOW!!!
Can you please add these files to the V5 version? Without them there's no sync. If I add your V4 files to the V5 rom there's no calibration. I wonder what else is lost !!!
Thanks,
B

Great job. Thank you about that. I've a little question.
I've updated my Flytouch with you sdcard V5. Everything works fine, but i can't get the connection with USB 3G dongle. How i can do ?
There's a program to get the connections ?
I've tried with "quick setting" but nothing happens.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you about that.

If you are stuck at Booting Screen, please try those tips below ( For UPDATE 4 Only ): by zBeYuz
1. Did you forget to extract your system.zip in firmware stock 05 June folder ?
I just found out earlier that I totally forgot about it .
Just extract that file you will get system.bin then delete system.zip and start to flash the firmware normally. ( Booting up will take about 3-5 minutes after it is done ).
If the phone is still stuck please consider the next step...
2. One more thing to take note, I am using different flash tool from angelobiz:
You can refer how to flash with this flash tool here:
0. Driver must be installed: http://www.4shared.com/rar/9onOaDl5/Driver_New.html? ( Please refer to UPDATE 2 for more details )
1. Download Only Flash Tool: http://www.4shared.com/rar/v8txho3k/Flashing_Tool.html?
2. a) Go to Flash tool folder and run SPMultiPortFlashDownloadProject.exe
b) Choose Factory Database --> Setup data source file: "MTK_DATABASE.mdb"
c) Choose File --> Open download agent file: "MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin"
d) Choose Scatter File: "MT6575_Android_scatter_emmc.txt" in Firmware folder.
e) Choose the figure same as the picture (Setting f/r SmartPhone MPD.jpg), which can be found in Firmware folder.
3. Make sure the phone turned off and the battery was taken out. Plug the phone into the PC and wait about 5-10 minutes for the flashing process to finish ( When you see it becomes green and states that "Write OK" ).
*UPDATE 5* ( Quote from angelobiz )
Change log: Thanks to Johnny !!!
You can choose re-partition fix that you want ( Please download from folder 2 below either 2.5GB or 2GB Fix ).

Tips + Tricks:
1. Thanks mikeysteele: "One thing I noticed after installing Set CPU is the kernel defaults to the Performance Governor. This means the CPU is always running at the maximum frequency so that might explain the poor battery life. I changed it to the On Demand governor and my battery life has improved."
2-a. Thanks angelobiz: For remove old, hidden driver you can see this: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/504/how-to-uninstall-hidden-devices-drivers-and-services/
2-b. Thanks caviar44: This is a tool to remove old drivers: USBDeview v2.11. Just right click on driver instance and then choose "uninstall selected devices".

FIGHTING !!!
Hi I would like to update some information about this phone,
1. The resolution of the screen is 800x480.
2. The original battery with 2800mAH capacity is so so, normal usage about 1 -2 days. On the battery stated that the cell made in Japan, yet finished in China.
3. The phone comes with the case with Samsung logo on it, together with a screen protector (not really good).
4. Additional infomation:
a) The front camera is on the left hand side, which is quite bad, because the Galaxy Note's is on the right side.
b) 3.5mm audio port is very depth, I have no idea why, so normal headphone or earphone like Beats Monster, for example, will be loose. But we still can use the one comes with the phone.
c) Camera is 8Mp and the picture looks quite nice if there is enough light.
d) It runs very smooth without any issues.
e) There is no touch pen.
f) Android 4.0.3 without Google Play or Market, Youtube, Google Map.
g) The camera sometime has a noise, like tac tac, when the apps need to use it ?!
At the end ? I still like it and I will try to update other good and bad points later if I can find any
*Update on 17/05/12*
h) After a long usage, the phone using original rom sometime can't rotate the screen even the "auto rotate option" was on.
--> Solution: Remove the battery and put in back in 30s, the phone will be functional as normal.

I received this same device today. It is not dual core, see: http://dualsim-smartphone.com/img/smartphone/i9220_mtk6575_dualsim_8.jpg
If any vendor claims it is so, what they are referring to is that it has both a 'normal' cpu plus a graphics chip. This is normal and its not the same as dual core!
Neither is the display qHD, as that would be 960x540. This device is 800x480. The display is... mediocre. I don't find the low density to be an issue, but a grainy texture is visible on light areas, e.g. the background in the Messaging app. Colour accuracy is also pretty bad: you get what you pay for.
FWIW I arrived here by googling DF-BPA-13 as I have the same issue. My temporary solution is to load apks onto the microsd on my old phone, then install those through "File Manager"
Thank you, guys. I will update my post above.
Btw, Does anybody hear anything about customised and rooted rom for this phone ?
To richardkemp, can you teach me how to recognize a dual-core phone ?
I thought all the mtk6575 phones were the dual-core phone.
Thanks in advanced.
@zbeyuz: The picture I linked above is from the link you provided in your first post. The first line of the results on the left hand screen shows "Number of cores: 1". Further the vendor correctly lists the chipset as the Mediatek MTK6575. Googling this might bring you (eventually!) to Mediatek's product page for this chipset. You can be sure that if it were actually dual core, the manufacturer would want to tell you about it: they mention no such thing.
Something I noticed while browsing chinese phone websites was that different sellers would provide different specifications for the same devices. Some would claim that a chip was dual core, by counting the presence of a separate main processor and graphics processor as if it was 'dual core'), and some would claim higher chip speed, e.g. 1GHz main processor + 500mhz graphics processor = 1.5GHz total. This is misleading and nothing more than a sales tactic.
It's a shame there's so much misinformation, the vendor I purchased my Haipad from marketed it as having an AMOLED screen, which it plainly doesn't.
As for ROMs, I'm gonna get stuck in to some ROM cooking once my exams are over, but that won't be for another month. In the mean time, I sure would appreciate any tips on getting root. To save anyone checking, SuperOneClick doesn't work.
Additional info on the device:
- Screen is capable of detecting 5 simultaneous multitouch points
- (In the UK at least) Network location does not work. Google maps cannot find my location from cell towers, or from my Wifi. GPS does work however.
- My device came without Android market installed, and as mentioned above, does not work once it is installed.
- Either the proximity sensor or the light sensor (top left by the front camera) flashes faint red constantly when the screen is on. Not a big issue but slightly distracting. The values reported by the prox sensor are just 0 and 1, no middle ground.
- The light sensor reports only 3 light levels: 160, 1200 and 2600. This makes automatic backlight pretty rubbish.
- The speed of the phone is fine - I will add some benchmarks later. Right now it's a pain in the butt since I can't get the benchmark apps from the market.
- WiFi signal seems weaker than I'm used to - my reference devices are my desktop PC, my Fujitsu ST5112 Win7 tablet, my (retired) HTC Desire, and my girl's Samsung Galaxy Y Pro and Asus Win7 Ultrabook. These all received moderate to good WiFi signal in my room from my WNDR3700 N router, all capable of streaming video at this distance. The Haipad on the other hand shows weak signal in the notification bar, and subjectively it is much slower than when it is downstairs nearer the router, a bit of a disappointment here.
- Lots of info on the device is available by starting the "EngineerMode" activity belonging to the "EngineerMode" package. This can be done by making a homescreen shortcut with a third party launcher (eg Nova), and choosing to add an activity shortcut. I recommend only look, don't modify any settings in case you break something!
- I don't know if it's just me but I find the overscroll elasticity way too 'loose'. If I flick a list hard and it hits the end, it takes a long time for the list to settle into the correct position. I look forward to being able to tweak this...
- The battery seems to charge quite slowly. I know it's large so getting to full charge would take longer than with a standard battery, but I am used to large batteies - I used a 2200mAh battery in my HTC Desire and I'm pretty sure it charged faster (using the same charger). Of course a factor in this will be that I have had the device active with the screen on almost constantly, so a lot of power is being diverted to that.
- My phone is capable of connecting to my network (t-mobile)'s proper 3G service, but seems to sometimes choose a 2G service instead, even when there is just as good 3G signal.
Will update this with more as I think of them.
zbeyuz, you say your camera is on the left, I presume you mean the front camera? the main/rear camera is right in the middle.
@richardkemp: Thank you for your quick reply. I did mean the camera in the front is on the left. The main camera is right in the middle, yes.
However, last time, when I tried to put on the Galaxy Note's case, the main camera didn't fit in the right position of the case. Maybe, because the screen was bigger than the real Galaxy Note's, I think ?
Update: The default browser of phone ran quite fast even there was a low wireless signal, but the browser didn't have back and forward button, is that right ?

This is from my seller and it works.
1.Please download root file on
www.t-kstore.com/4.0root.rar
2.Go to*setting-developer options-click USB debugging
3.Connect the phone with computer, turn on usb device.
4.Click the file you download from the link TPSparkyRoot.bat*
5.Your phone will restart first time, after the phone start finish(until you see the unlock),click enter in the window of TPSparkyRoot.bat.
6.The phone will restart second time, still the same as first time we did. Then start third time, same as we did in last two*times.Click enter, then phone was rooted.
7.You will see two more app was installed in your phone, that mean root phone successfully.
After successfully rooted, it will install rootexplorer.apk Chinese version which is rather useless for installing Market because it's all in Chinese. You should be able to find Filexpert.apk from the web, and install it.
Here is how to install Google Play Store:
1. Download Vending.apk from http://downloads.androidadvices.com/apks/Vending.3.3.12.apk
2. copy Vending.apk to \system\app\ folder in your phone by using Filexpert in RW mode
3. change permission of Vending.apk file to Read/Write for Owner; Read for others
4. shutdown your phone.
5. switch on your phone, you will see Google Play Store app, and enjoy!
Did anyone mange to get GPS working ? I tried with Google Maps, but fail.
Thanks a bunch bthoven. I took the liberty of tidying up the script a bit, and including the latest Google Play Store and an English root file manager (Filexpert, as you suggested).
I put it on mediafire: http://www.mediafire.com/?qnmvebaa3k8usjw
Same instructions as before, just extract the archive and run TPSparkyRoot.bat with your phone connected by usb cable, and USB debugging mode enabled. If you wish you can disable USB debugging mode once this process is done.
Beware that the play store I included is the mod version from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582422, to allow you to access apps without region restrictions. In future we can properly set the phone's region in build.prop should remove the need for this temporary fix. That's for another day..

Installation guide
To flash this rom you need a custom recovery as CWM or TWRP. You can download TWRP for all Iocean from here.
Otherwise if you prefer CWM, download this CWMrecovery.img for Iocean x7 Youth/Youth Turbo or this one for Iocean x7 Plus/Elite and flash it through MobileUncleTools app.
I strongly recommend you to take a Nandroid Backup before flashing this (or any other) rom. I suggest you to backup your IMEI too. The easiest and safest way to do this is simply writing both IMEI on a piece of paper (you can find them in Settings > About Phone > Status > IMEI information).
To install it, follow these simple steps:
Download zip file of the rom (see Download section) and put it in your sdcard - PUT IT IN EXTERNAL SD IF YOU WANT TO REPARTITION
Reboot into recovery
Wipe data (factory reset if you're using CWM), wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache (advanced section in CWM) - DO NOT WIPE SYSTEM
Install rom zip from sdcard/external sdcard and follow Aroma installer wizard
Aroma installer will give you the possibility to repartition internal sdcard (more available space for apps).
If you choose "Do nothing" option, go to point #6 of this guide
If you choose "Repartition" follow instructions in the spoiler below:
ATTENTION: REPARTITIONING WILL FORMAT INTERNAL SDCARD
Click on "Repartition" and choose desired /data partition size (rom stock value is 1.5GB for any iocean model)
Installation process WILL NOT INSTALL ROM (only resize /data)
Reboot into your ORIGINAL ROM, you should get an error message as the one below (if you don't get this message, just skip this point):
Click on "Reset phone" (this will reboot into recovery) and wait until it automatically reboot into your original rom again
You now need to reboot into recovery to install GammaRom v1.2 (you only repartitioned your original rom so far). You can do this in 3 different ways (choose only one):
Quick way ---> Switch your phone off, connect it to your pc, push power button + volume up button at the same time until you enter recovery
Geek way ---> You can skip Google account login (if asked to login) tapping on upper left corner of the screen then upper right corner, botton right corner and finally botton left corner. Once skipped google signing in, reboot into recovery using "Quick Boot" app (it has been installed into your original rom during repartitioning)
Dummy way ---> Login with your Google account (if asked to login) and reboot into recovery using "Quick Boot" app (it has been installed into your original rom during repartitioning)
Congratulation, you successfully repartitioned your phone. :highfive: You can now follow this guide from point 3 onwards (wipe data, cache, dalvik and install rom zip) this time choosing "Do nothing" instead of "Repartition".
Follow Aroma instructions and reboot once finished
Be patient, first boot may take longer than usual
Read post #2 to get the best from this rom (do not skip this)
Enjoy

Configuration Guide
Configuration Guide
In order to get the best experience from this rom, read guide below:
AVOID CRAP IMPORTANT!!
Absolutely DO NOT install crappy apps on this rom: NO RAM Booster apps, NO task killers, NO Clean Master, no apps that just consume ram, increase wakelocks and produce lags.
Any kind of task killer will heavily increase lags on this rom whose background apps are already handled by its optimizations scripts. This kinda app will only create conflicts.
Remember to not install AdAway (or similar) neither because this rom has an AdBlock already included. If possible avoid Antivirus too, IMO they're not really necessary on Android.
Resolution Changer
What is it?
This is a series of scripts written by me which will let you change iocean x7 resolution from 1080x1920 to any other value lower than stock. At the same time it gives you the possibility to change dpi according to your preferences.
Why should you use this?
Reducing resolution will boost your performances from different point of views: first of all smoother scrolling, faster interface, lower ram usage and probably even a better battery life (I still need to check this one).
Anyways these scripts are not meant to permanently reduce your resolution, but only in case of need: you can switch to lower resolution when you need to increase performances (for example for gaming) and switch back to stock 1080p resolution as performances boost is no longer needed.
Everything is made completely automatic through these scripts, you just need to launch them and follow instructions.
I know that this could be done through an app, but first of all that app is for pay in my country (that's why I created this), secondly an app consumes ram, this script does not!
Is there any drawback?
Yes, lowering resolution will temporarily make your menu, home and back button unavailable. They will stop working until you switch back to 1080p resolution: it's not possible to make them work at lower resolutions, that's why this script automatically enables software keys.
Moreover some apps may not be shown correctly depending on resolution used; here a few examples:
-Xperia Launcher doesn't show icons of correct size at 720p resoution (720x1280)
-Apex Launcher doesn't show icons of correct size at 600p resoution (600x1066)
-Swiftkey keyboard doesn't show properly at lower resolution (use GammaRom stock keyboard)
- [...]
You simply need to change launcher/keyboard if the one you're using is not completely compatible with requested resolution.
How can you change resolution?
I made it simple for you, just read hidden instructions below!
First of all launch Android Terminal Emulator app and enter one of these commands (first time you launch this script, it'll ask for root privilages):
Code:
resolution width height dpi
Sets resolution to (width)x(height) and dpi to (dpi). For example you can type in terminal emulator the following:
Code:
resolution 720 1280 320
entering this will set resolution to 720x1280 and dpi to 320dpi that are typical values for 720p screens (Samsung Galaxy S3, ...)
Code:
resolution 1080 1920 480
entering this will set resolution to 1080x1920 and dpi to 480dpi that are typical values for 1080p screens (Iocean x7 stock values, ...)
With this command (resolution width height dpi) You can set resolution to any value you want. Of course be reasonable: you have a 16:9 screen so (height)/(width) should always be around 16:9. You can start from 1080p stock values (1080 1920 480) and divide these three number by the same quantity. For example, dividing by 1.2, another good working command would be:
Code:
resolution 900 1600 400
which will set resolution to 900x1600 and dpi to 400dpi. Everything clear? Hope it is! You can experiment as many resolution as you wish and find out which one is the best for your usage.
In addition to "resolution width height dpi" command, I prepared other 5 easy to use scripts that you can launch simply typing:
Code:
1080p
it's the same as "resolution 1080 1920 480" (reverts back to stock Iocean values)
Code:
900p
it's the same as "resolution 900 1600 400"
Code:
720p
it's the same as "resolution 720 1280 320"
Code:
600p
it's the same as "resolution 600 1066 260"
Code:
500p
it's the same as "resolution 500 890 220"
These 5 scripts (1080p, 900p, 720p, 600p, 500p) can be used with "f" option (where "f" stands for "fast"). Let's make an example:
Code:
1080p f
typing "1080p f" in terminal emulator resolution will be quickly set to 1080x1920 and dpi to 480dpi without any waste of time. Resolution script has a lot of checks that ensures that you know what you're doing and that explains in details what the script is doing. Typing in android terminal "resolution 1080 1920 480" or "1080p" or "1080p f" will revert back to stock resolution in all three cases, but the last one (1080p f) will do it more quickly.
The same for "900p f", "720p f", "600p f", "500p f": they switch to 900p, 720p, 600p and 500p resolution more quickly than without typing "f".
Here's a screen just to give you an idea on how it looks like:
How can you revert back to stock Iocean resolution?
Simply launch Android Terminal emulator and type:
Code:
1080p
or
Code:
1080p f
In case of issues of any kind that make this procedure unavailable, flash following zip in recovery (only in case of emergency, otherwise use procedure described above):
Emergency_restore_to_stock_resolution.zip
AdBlock
GammaRom has an embedded AdBlocking service which will prevent most part of adverts/malicious websites from showing. Sometimes its action may be unwanted (it may block safe websites that you intentionally want to visit). That's why I created this simple script that gives you the possibility to switch between 3 different adblocking according to your needs.
Launch Android Terminal Emulator and type:
Code:
adblock
Folllow instructions and choose your preferred AdBlocking:
No adblocking (Iocean x7 stock rom default)
AdAway adblocking (Light and fast adblocking - Gamma v1.2 default)
Mother of All AD-BLOCKING by BSDgeek_Jake (slightly higher ram usage, but very aggressive and complete adblocking: blocks almost any Ads - Gamma v1.0 default)
Sometimes AdAway and Mother of All Adblocking may block even safe websites from showing; if this happen to you, launch terminal emulator and disable all adblocking (option 1) and enable them again when you want them back (option 2 or 3).
Battery Life
Here you can find 3 advices that will greatly improve your phone Battery Life:
Die Hard Battery Calibrator (by zeppelinrox)
I included in this rom Die Hard Battery Calibrator script developed by zeppelinrox. Follow instructions below to take the max out of your battery:
Charge your phone till 100%
Keep phone plugged in, launch terminal emulator and type:
Code:
su
BatteryCalibrator
Follow instructions (wait until phone voltages overcomes 4200mV, then type "A" which will reboot your phone after 20minutes (leave it plugged in still) )
Once rebooted, you can type BatteryCalibrator in terminal emulator again and check voltage and battery percentage (just to check, this step is not really fundamental)
Unplug your phone (shown voltage will go down a bit) and use it the whole day until it turns off (battery percentage shown may not be real since you just deleted batterystats)
Recharge till 100%
Use your phone!
Google Location service
Disabling this will improve your battery life a lot; especially if you don't need it (if you need it, try to keep it disabled when not necessary).
Launch Settings > Location Access > Disable "Wi-Fi & mobile network location"
Monitor Wakelocks
I included Wakelock Detector app developed by ahikmat in this rom. This app lets you check which app or service is draining your battery generating wakelocks (high number of wakelocks = high battery drain).
Launch Wakelock Detector app > go into settings > enable advanced mode > Check whether any suspicious/unwanted app is generating wakelocks.
You can find a detailed guide on how to use this app in original thread linked above.
GravityBox
GravityBox is an Xposed module which uses Xposed framework to apply real time modifications to your system. This gives you the possibility to customize your android device according to your needs.
Once you've installed this rom, launch GravityBox app (or go to Settings>GravityBox if you prefer) and mod your Iocean as you wish: most part of modifications will be applied immediately, part of them may require reboot to become effective.
Viper4Android
This mod gives you the possibility to enhance audio quality and volume in a quite surprisingly way if configured properly.
Once installed this rom, launch Viper4Android, give it root access and click on "Yes" at V4A Driver Update request. Choose desired installation type (keep in mind that this will affect battery life) and reboot. Once rebooted you're now ready to customize your phone's audio response according to your tastes: launch Viper4Android and enable Viper4Android features as you wish in the three fields Headset/Phone Speaker/Bluetooth Device.
In order to further edit the audio, it's possible to download (free or paid) some Impulse Response Samples (IRS); see the thread below for a detailed guide and further details about it:
[V4A][IRS] Impulse Response Sample Index Thread
If you're lazy and don't wanna read that guide, just download the following IRS starter pack, unzip it and put all *.irs files in the path /sdcard/ViPER4Android/kernel (this path will be automatically created by V4A app once you install drivers). All these *.irs files will become selectable in Convolver field inside V4A app.
IRS Starter Pack.zip
Xposed Framework
Xposed Framework app has a "Download" section where you can upgrade existing xposed modules (eg: GravityBox) everytime their developer releases a new version or even download new modules from the list to add new features. Be careful though: some of them are incompatible with each other and other are only device specific (Samsung, HTC, ...) and won't work on your phone. Moreover too many xposed modules may slow down system according to my personal experience.
GravityBox already covers most part of other modules features, but another good module is "App Settings" which, for example, will give you the possibility to set different DPI for each app.
GPS
GPS connection had a perceivable improvement with latest kernel and modules and I added some optimizations that will help too. To make it work properly you'll need to modify the first lines of gps.conf in /system/etc path with specific servers for your country.
Inside gps.conf you'll find these servers that work good for Italy:
Code:
# Italy ===============================
NTP_SERVER=it.pool.ntp.org
# Europe ==============================
NTP_SERVER=europe.pool.ntp.org
If you live in Europe, just edit the first with the one for your country, otherwise you'll need to edit both. Leave all the rest of gps.conf file exactly as it is, just edit these lines. You can find a list of servers for any country here.
For example if you live in Slovakia (Europe) first lines of build.prop would become something like this:
Code:
# Slovakia ============================
NTP_SERVER=sk.pool.ntp.org
# Europe ==============================
NTP_SERVER=europe.pool.ntp.org
In order to speed up gps fix, open Settings>Location Access and enable EPO (download epo data too), A-GPS, GPS and launch Location Engineering menu. Once in Location Engineering Mode, go to GPS tab and enable GPS to scan satellites (need to be outside to find any). After a few minutes it should start fixing satellites (first ever fix will take longer) and you should be finally able to use Iocean x7 GPS.
Another advice I can give you is to use Copilot as navigation app!
If it still doesn't work the only way is to modify your antenna (as I did).
Hardware Keys Backlight
This will work only on Iocean x7 Youth clocked @1.2GHz (no effects on any other Iocean x7).
You can turn on/off hardware keys backlight typing:
Code:
lights on
turns lights on
Code:
lights off
turns lights off
Ringtone
You probably still don't understand why I'm pointing this out...well...you'll get it once you receive your first incoming call...I love this ringtone, but probably many of you won't! If you're among them, go into Settings>Audio profiles>General and change ringtone. I recommend you to keep it
That's it guys, flash responsibly! :good:

Yes, you should have both stock camera and lenovo camera, the same for Gallery. If Settings>Viper4Android crashes it means there's no Viper4Android installed. Try to check in app drawer whether you see it or not. I just tried to flash again with TWRP the whole rom on my Iocean Youth and got no issues.
It seems like your installation process had some issues, which recovery have you used? Anyways try to flash back formatting cache, dalvik, data and system, possibly with a different recevoery (I tested it on my TWRP linked in post #1) and let me know :fingers-crossed:
EDIT: I tried to flash with CWM recovery linked in post#1 and had no issues even in that case
EDIT2: I flashed starting from different situations (stock youth 0703, stock elite 0722, custom, ...) with different recoveries, but couldn't reproduce your issues on my youth. As I said, try to flash back and don't forget full wipe.
In antutu I have score 10 000 and you ?
Samba haven't tried you ROM yet but just downloaded this ROM from here http://www.needrom.com/mobile/iocean-x7-youth-2/ , its a really nice ROM and finally got CSR racing and empirior warriors 2 working without lags.
And guess my antutu score ? 12677 !!
Humble request Samba , any chance you can have a look at this ROM and make and improvement on it ?
I have got and Iocean Youth also and so far that's the best ROM I have found in terms of stability , gaming and benchmark .

Did you manage to reinstall the rom without issues?
Anyways 10000 is not normal, do you have any CPU governor installed? It seems like you're not running at maximum clock.
My antutu on GammaRom is 12899 as you can see in the pic:
Antutu is definitely not important, but check that's everything's fine (CPU clock, background apps,...).

Yeah I've that rom on my SD card, I quickly tried it a few weeks ago. Benchmarks aren't very significant, but as you can see above I got an higher score. That doesn't mean much, if I repeat that test in different situations results will change.
I'll focus on GammaRom for the next period because I prefer to concentrate my efforts on only one work rather than releasing many roms almost equal to each other. For the future I'd rather start from a clean stock rom, and I like Iocean's firmware which is really clean and close to Vanilla android. I tried many xperia roms, but don't really liked them so far. Anyways I still couldn't download Xperia C stock rom to give it a try. We'll see!

You can see a few screenshots in post #1. I took xperia launcher and I slightly modded it, but you can change it if you don't like it (I can give you stock launcher if you prefer). For what concerns icons they are Iocean's stock ones except from some of them which I replaced with higher definition ones taken from thl firmware (email, sms,...).

Are those languages included in stock rom? I didn't touch anything language related (just fixed SMS app FC for Netherlands).
If those apps crash it means they're not installed. Flash again the whole rom with full wipe (cache, dalvik, data, system) and check if you have Viper4android and GravityBox installed. If you don't have them it means the rom wasn't installed properly (need to riflash).
Not sure why some of you is not getting /data partition properly installed, I'll investigate further, but I need to know which recovery you are using. I've tested them on both recoveries linked in post #1 with no issues. Which one did you use?

hmm I think it would be great if this rom had aroma installer so we can choose to install other apps etc, even though we can use a root uninstaller. just a suggestion though, this rom already works perfectly. Oh and forgot to mention earlier, I get much better wifi signal with this rom. From my room I used to get 3/5 now I get 4-5/5!

Rooting
Always remember, you root your device AT YOUR OWN RISK. Rooting will void your warranty and you may brick your device in attempting this. Its a choice and you're the only one who can make it.
Rooting instructions (tested up to RCA firmware 1.9.50):
(Beginning with a tablet never before rooted, or has been completely unrooted prior)
1. On your tablet, go to Settings > About tablet > Build number and tap the build number 7 times. This will unhide the Developer options menu.
2. Tap the Developer options menu. Enable it by sliding the slider to the right in top bar. Select "USB debugging" by placing a check mark in the box next to it.
3. Go to Settings > Security. Select "Unknown sources" by placing a check mark in the box next to it. Deselect "Verify apps" by removing the check mark in the box (you can enable it again afterwards if you wish).
4. Connect your tablet to PC via USB.
5. Download the Windows iRoot rooting application here.
6. Install the app.
7. Start iRoot and follow instructions to root. Remember to enable USB permissions on tablet when prompted.
8. Once successfully completed, download and install SuperSU from here to replace the Chinese root manager called Superuser 1.0.4.
9. Start SuperSU and you will be asked for permission, choose to allow.
10. SuperSU will prompt to install SU binary, go ahead with OK and install normally (not TWRP). IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO INSTALL THE BINARY.
11. Once SuperSU is installed and the binary updated, you can uninstall Superuser 1.0.4 and the second app it installs, something like "Clean Master" (unless you want it).
Happiness is now achieved with having a rooted device
* For further details regarding root, please see "Rooting considerations" in the Misc. section below.
Custom Recovery
Always remember, you install a custom recovery on your device AT YOUR OWN RISK. Installing a custom recovery will void your warranty and you may brick your device in attempting this. Its a choice and you're the only one who can make it.
99% of the credit for this section goes to johnemc2, PatF and mexicandroid for creating and contributing to this thread. Although it was created for a different but similar RCA tablet model, they provided everything I am going to reiterate here. Also the original thread for TWRP on MediaTek devices (which is the chipset for these RCA tablets) is here, and all credit goes to yuweng for this. Make sure to hit the thanks button in the respective threads for these guys!
TWRP installation instructions (tested up to RCA firmware 1.9.50):
1. Device must be rooted. See rooting section above or use another method of your choice.
2. Download the TWRP recovery image for the 6203 from here. Rename it by deleting "[RCA 6203 TWRP - Remove this tag]" so that the file name reads only "recovery.img" (with no quotes of course).
3. Place this file on your external sdcard.
4. Download and install [ROOT] Rashr Flash Tool from here. If the app suggests updates, go ahead and install them.
5. Rashr will ask you to make a backup. If you try, it will fail. Not to worry too much though, a stock recovery image is available below.
6. Start Rashr. From the menu, tap Recovery from Storage. From the "Pick a file" menu select /storage/emulated. Select /storage/, then select sdcard1/. From there select the recovery.img file you saved in step 3.
7. It will give you a warning prompt asking if you are sure. If so, select "Yes please" to install TWRP.
8. Upon successful flashing of TWRP you will have the choice to boot into the custom recovery, go check it out!
9. One procedural maintenance item to perform after: I have noticed that the rashr app holds on to a large amount of data for some reason and haven't found the need. Once you reboot, you can go into Settings > Apps > All and find Rashr and clear data to reclaim the space.
Good guide for using TWRP can be found here.
How to manually get into recovery (TWRP or stock):
From a powered off state, simultaneously depress the power and volume up buttons until the white RCA boot screen appears. Once this screen appears, release the power button but REMAIN DEPRESSING THE VOLUME UP BUTTON until you are in recovery.
Stock recovery installation:
It is the exact same procedure as was with TWRP, with the exception of step 2. Instead download the stock recovery image from here, rename it by deleting "[RCA 6203 Stock Repacked - Remove this tag]" so that the file name reads only "recovery.img" (with no quotes of course). Continue on using step 3 above. Check out why you might need the stock recovery image in the "Firmware updating considerations" area of the Misc. section below.
Ultimate happiness and assurance is now achieved with having a custom recovery installed on your device to back it up!
Accessories
Here are some of the accessories I am currently using for the 6203:
Cases:
The keyboard case is good, but I found it cumbersome in most cases and unnecessary. So I purchased this case from Ebay. Here are some photos of mine. I have had it for 5+ months with no issue upon daily use.
Screen Protectors:
I purchased this anti-glare and anti-fingerprint screen protector from Amazon. Although they now have it for the 6203, at the time they only had them for the 6103 and I had to modify it. But 5 months later it is still great. Being anti-glare means there is a slight matte to them, but overall I found it hardly effected the clarity of the screen. It really kept having to wipe off the screen due to fingerprints to a minimum!
I am just sharing what I have found to work for our devices and hope it helps you too in some way!
Customization Apps
Customization apps that require root (seeing rooting section above):
Xposed Framework. Man is this awesome. Here is the description from the site: Xposed is a framework for modules that can change the behavior of the system and apps without touching any APKs. That's great because it means that modules can work for different versions and even ROMs without any changes (as long as the original code was not changed too much). It's also easy to undo. As all changes are done in the memory, you just need to deactivate the module and reboot to get your original system back. There are many other advantages, but here is just one more: Multiple modules can do changes to the same part of the system or app. With modified APKs, you to decide for one. No way to combine them, unless the author builds multiple APKs with different combinations. You can find version 2.6.1 for our tablet here (select "show older versions" at the bottom of the page).
GravityBox [KK]. TONS of customization for our device. Find it here.
Customization apps that do not require root:
Blacked out or inverted apps. I love darkened apps. I prefer a black or dark background to most apps. It looks good and is easier on the eyes! You can download the Team Blacked Out updater apk from here. You can download many popular apps that have been "blacked out" by this team.
I am just sharing these apps for fellow fans of customization. Enjoy!

Misc.
Rooting considerations:
Although there is a risk of bricking the device in doing so, to date I have rolled through both the 1.3.51 and 1.9.50 RCA updates without the update being hindered by having my device rooted prior (never unrooted), and I have not lost root once the update completes. Although I have not tried this without, I believe this may be because I use SuperSU Pro OTA survival. This app is not necessary, but the free version does not have the "OTA survival mode" that the pro version possesses. I recommend spending the $3.75 for purchase.
Firmware updating considerations:
If you delete any of the bloatware apps that comes preloaded (VUDU, Walmart, Sam's Club, Opera, etc.) and try to update the device, it will soft brick your tablet. This is because the update performs a core app comparison check to test validity prior to completing installation. You will only be able to get into stock recovery once this happens. Therefore my recommendation is not to delete any of these apps but instead use Titanium or MyBackup Pro to freeze them, and prior to attempting any firmware update remember to UNFREEZE THEM FIRST. This will save you any headache with the firmware updates.
I do not think you can install an official firmware update via TWRP, so you may need to reinstall the stock recovery to do this. See the "Custom Recovery" section above.
Misc. #2
[reserved]
One frustrating thing about our device is that some apps will not install from the Play store. It will state "this item is not compatible with your device". Well I have tried many methods to circumvent this, including changing prop files and using apps that fake screen densities. I don't recommend that . Instead I sideload. I use a Google Chrome extension called APK Downloader. You can get it here. To set up it will ask for devide ID info. I plug in the number for my S4. Once downloaded, I just copy the apk over to my tablet and install from there. The only caveat to this is that it does not work for purchased apps.
There are other ways to procure the app and sideload, but this is the method I use most often for the 6203.
I have a support request in to RCA for these concerns (here is the text as I sent):
Hello,
I have 3 questions. The first is that by reading the specs for this tablet the CPU is supposed to be set for 1.5Ghz. But when you use the tablet, it is only set for 1300Mhz (1.3Ghz) (I can provide screenshots). Which is wrong and why?
My second question is do we have any access to a complete firmware ROM that can be used via recovery? This would be nice to have in case the tablet is soft bricked for any reason. Update ROMs do not provide this.
Lastly, is there anywhere to download USB drivers for this tablet?
Thanks in advance for your help.
From RCA:
Glen (RCA Support)
Apr 27, 3:18 PM
1) The max threshold is 1.5Ghz. The reason it is running at 1.3 is probably because your not using its absolute full capacity
2) We dont have the ROM
3) Is this for the USB stick or memory stick?
Glen
Technical Support
#Madeforyourlifestyle
My response:
Glen,
Here are my responses:
1. I have attached 3 screenshots from independent apps that all report the CPU set for 1.3Ghz and not 1.5Ghz. In fact they show the governor as having the range for the CPU set to 598-1300mhz. I believe this happened in the firmware 1.9.50 update and was not the case prior. Can you check to see why this was done? We purchased tablets that were intending on having a 1.5Ghz processor.
2. You will see many returns then from tablets that were soft bricked due to the most recent update corrupting the system file, and then only allowing people to boot into recovery and not into Android.
3. No, USB drivers as in this explanation: http://developer.android.com/tools/extras/oem-usb.html
Thanks. I really appreciate your assistance with these questions. Please let me know if there is any other information I can offer.
From RCA 5/4/15:
Glen (RCA Support)
May 4, 3:43 PM
The tablet will use the 1.5Ghz only when it will take big update like firmware updates.
#Madeforyourlifestyle
My response:
Glen,
There is no way for the Android kernel to know only to use full CPU capability during an upgrade procedure. Its there for all operations or it is not.
Can I have my concern escalated to your engineering team? As I said previous, the system showed 1.5Ghz was available in processing speed before the last upgrade.
Thanks
From RCA 5-7-15:
Hello,
We'd love to hear what you think of our customer service. Please take a moment to answer one simple question by clicking either link below:
How would you rate the support you received?
Good, I'm satisfied
Bad, I'm unsatisfied
Conclusion:
So apparently RCA doesn't intend to do anything about the most recent update failures outside of performing RMA's for people, and also doesn't care to answer why these tabs are advertised as 1.5Ghz and are being throttled to 1.3.

What can I do with this or this - no ROM Backups, and an annoying 'brick' on my table?
I successfully rooted with KingRoot and tried to manually switch to SuperSU with a script I found.
The script seemed workable. I found all of the targets and: # root.sh ... oh *hi*
The transition failed and after trying to 'clean up' remnants the script seemed to have missed, the screen froze: RESET BUTTON - nothing, nothing, nothing.
I wish I hadn't believed it would work without a 'dd ... system.img'. The tablet had about 12hrs mileage and is now a very new [Black Friday] $49 item about to be smashed on the driveway.
I read somewhere that RCA will not be distributing winusb drivers.

What can I do with this or this - no ROM Backups, and an annoying 'brick' on my table?
I successfully rooted with KingRoot and tried to manually switch to SuperSU with a script I found.

probeafargavin,
Sorry for slow reply. Been a busy month! I recommend sending the unit back to RCA for an RMA. I had to do this once and although it took a month, I received back a working tablet. It doesn't matter that you did this, they will not check. They will end up sending you back a refurbed tablet. Mine works fine.

Needing Help
I rooted my device (same exact make/ model you have listed). Well it just so happens that now I am not able to open the Google App store. I have clicked the app logo so many times now and all what I see is what looks like the app is about to open but it just disappears about a half second later.
Looks like I am no longer able to use the back button also. I have tried factory resetting the device yet problem remains. Clearing cache of the Google Play app, no results. Please help!!!!! I would surely appreciate it, I'm sure you can imagine how devastated I am over this.

C_Cee unless you have TWRP installed and had a back up, there is not much you can do. I would RMA the tablet through RCA. I had to do this once and it was a pretty quick turn around.

RCT203W46L Questions
Hi,
I have just purchased the above and rooted it with Kingroot. This is the lollipop 5.0 version.
a) a stagefright detector from lookout reports this device is vulnerable to this hack. Any thoughts?
b) are the twrp and stock recovery images pointed to by droidify post #2 and #3 still usable? even though its lollipop5.0?
Any help appreciated before I mod this thing!!
Thanks

Lollipop is going to have a different recovery, so what I posted likely will not work and may cause serious problems if attempted. Not sure about stagefright vulnerabilities.
Any advance?
No more advance in this device?

My tablet is still going. Although not my daily driver device, I use it to watch videos on break at work and to read on. There hasn't been any development for this device that I am aware of and unlikely to be considering it is not that popular.

Aloha -
I just received one of these today:
Model: RCT6303W87DK (32GB)
Android version: Lollipop 5.0.
Kernel: 3.10.54
Build: RCT6303W87DK-ANDROID5.0-V63-V1.12.20-B
I installed NewKingrootV4.62_C133_B233_en_release_2015_11_24_105203.apk downloaded from www\.kingroot\.net
On the first attempt, Kingroot rebooted at 22%, and failed to root. I repeated the procedure without rebooting, and achieved root on the second attempt.
I am curious to know if you flashed TWRP and, if so, what results you had.
Also: does anyone know if, in fact, the 5.0 loader actually is different from the 4.4.2 loader.
Thanks in advance.
I'm confused, is this thread on the RCA Pro 10 RCT6203W46KB or for it's successor (I assume) the RCA 10 Viking Pro RCT6303W87DK. I ask because I have the RCT6303W87DK and am looking to see if there are any ROMs for it, as I would prefer to be running Android 5.1.2 or 6.0 over 5.0.
Here are the steps to install viper with a Pixel 4 XL:
1. In magisk go to downloads, install the audio compatibility patch 1.7 3. Choose volume up for requested settings, although USB can be set as preferred.
2. Reboot
3. Install XDA Labs Viper. Do not open.
4. In magisk go to downloads, install the Audio Modification Library v2 4. Do not reboot.
5. Open Viper, let it install driver and it will reboot.
6. Go to app info for viper, disable battery optimization.
That’s it. Enjoy the audio bliss.
Thanks for this.
Questions;
- For step 1 in your OP (install the audio compatibility patch). Just want to make sure I'm using the correct patch. What version number? At the time of writing I see V1.7.3. Is that what you used?
Also, during installation of that patch, there are a number of vol up/down options that need to be chosen. What did you choose for;
- Do you want to skip audio_policy patching? (Original acp before became 3in1 module) Vol+ = yes, Vol- = no
- Would you like to skip notification_helper remover? Vol+ = yes, Vol- = no
- Would you like to skip usb policy patching for usb devs? Vol+ = yes, Vol- = no
- Use lib workaround? Only choose yes if you're having issues. Vol+ = yes, Vol- = no (recommended)
- For step 4 (install the Audio Modification Library). What is the version number? At the time of writing I see V2.4. Is that what you used?

Thanks. Good questions.
It was 1.7.3 of the compatibility patch.
Volume up to all the options.
Version 2.4 is also correct.
I'll amend the guide to contain this information.
I didn't do the audio compatibility patch part. You reckon that could cause issues? If I were to reinstall, would uninstalling everything and starting from scratch be okay? So far viper does work.
Or you can grab V4A version 2.7, install it, do the drivers 3 or 4 times for it to actually take, profit. I have it working on my phone without any other steps.

As I understand it the audio compatibility patch enabled viper on USB output like for Android auto.
It also makes it so you don't have to reboot repeatedly to get the driver to stick (according to others).
Hello, I followed all the steps and I still getting "No audio driver found"
I got this

Hey OP, do you use Google maps navigation by any chance?
I have Viper working on my 4 XL as well, and with the installation of Audio Modification Library and Audio Compatibility Patch installed, I can get system wide equalization except for one thing, Google Map's voice direction audio.
I guess it's a minor problem but if I'm listening to music and Google is about to alert me the next turn, Viper stops processing and my music goes all flat while Google is speaking, and then for like a split second to a few seconds later after Google is finished speaking, Viper starts to kick in again.
I can't seem to figure it out for the life of me on how to get Viper to still process even when Google is speaking the next turn direction. Has anyone ran into this issue? Anyone managed to fix this?
Mine says "Enabled: No" and I can only sense any change on gain. When I use Bluetooth USB it still says "Speaker" in the notification box?
Last time I checked selinux must be on permissive for it to stick. Gonna try it out and I'll give you all my feedback.
Tested it out and need selinux permissive.

Just curious, does your viper still process when using Google maps navigation while playing music? My viper cuts out whenever maps is about to speak the next turn direction, and right after it's done speaking, viper will kick back in either right away or a few seconds later. I did recall trying to switch to permissive but that didn't seem to work

I don't use maps I only use Waze but without the audio so can't really tell. However I think I already had this issue, it's because it cant process some apps like when your on the phone with someone. If I use it I'll try to check

Did you follow the installation instructions from OP and then just switched selinux to permissive? I might just try redoing my installation just to see if that happens to be the magic trick

Didn't do anything except install V4A version 2.7 and install the drivers until it took. Nothing else including selinux permissive. Works fine here.

What do you mean by selinux needing to be on for it to stick? The processing? I ask because last night in my car the music didn't sound like it should. Opened V4A and flipped a toggle off then back on and all of a sudden the sound changed to what it should sound like. This happened at first on my Pixel 3xl, but later wasn't an issue at all. Not sure why.

It was for the installation of the driver in order to make it stick.
For the issue you're having, check the battery optimisation option and make sure it isn't on. I had this before and changing that fixed it.

Tried doing this and unfortunately viper still didn't process maps navigation audio :/ Thanks for sharing though!
My viper installation was able to stick without the need of changing anything related to selinux, just audio compatibility patch and audio modification library did the trick for me (minus maps navigation ofc)
