Hi,
Today I just started rooting my mate 8,
Everything worked fine as I was able to easily unlock the boot loader free ,but when it came to flash twrp.img file in cmd it started showing errors, I downloaded almost 5 6 img files but nothing is going on, it shows 'cannot load twrp.img file', :/ I hv spent like almost 2 hours flashing nd searching for answer but their is no thread with suitable answer, many people have this problem, Plz help.
u either have to put the twrp image file into the same directory as your ADB/fastboot installation or navigate to the respective folder location via the recovery flash command

I hv download the trwp black and blue image file, now when I click to extract it in winzip or winrar, itsay the archive is either of unknown format or dAmaged.
Edit: So today after some hardwork I was able to flash the twrp.img file, then I format my device through it, everything worked fine, but when the home screen appeared it was very simple and sort of very 'BASIC', I went to 'THEMES' icon on my mate 8 but their were no themes like Mocha etc, what should I do now? I want my old themes back, is their any way?

Well, first, turn off the phone and charge it so you don't loose battery.
Second, never install another recovery on top of an existing one without knowing what you are doing - ask first.. (You get into the built-in recovery on that cm10.1 by tapping the volume down button at the end of the red moto logo when the lights come on).
Next, you could possibly fix your system with adb and switching some files.. but that would take a lot of explaining if you are not familiar with it.. plus, you might not get adb recognized during the bootloop.
So, you need to use the FXZ files for your phone/region... Or, just flash the system.img only.. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41436876&postcount=1106 - and see the link linked there.
EDIT: If you can get adb recognized, you might be able to just run these few lines to fix things from the command prompt:
Code:
adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
rm /system/bin/hijack
sh /system/bin/finalize_release
exit

I am very confused at what you want to do. That link is only to root your device. But, if you are bootlooping, you need to replace your system.img.
You should download the entire SBF/FXZ zip file for your device/region/firmware. Then unzip it into a folder on your computer (best if it's close to C:\ with spaces in the path). Are you using a Windows OS on your computer?
Then, grab the restore-to-ics_win-batch.zip AND the restore-ics-system-only.bat.txt (remove the .txt extension) attached in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36834775&postcount=108
Mix those files in with the big FXZ files that you just unzipped. Then run the .bat file to flash the system.img only. If that doesn't work, then open the other .bat file (use Notepadd++ or similar), check that everything that is being flashed is actually in your folder and has the same name... and flash the entire FXZ. If none of that helped, then you probably flashed the wrong files to your phone.
Just flashing the system.img only is probably the safest.. Because if it's wrong, you can just flash another one. The other files in the FXZ package can mess up your phone if they are not for your specific device.
EDIT: If you still did not flash anything else, you could try to use adb... Get that restore-to-ics_win-batch.zip that I linked above.. Unzip it to your desktop. Power on your phone so it bootloops and connect with USB. Open a command prompt on the restore-to-ics_win-batch folder by holding down shift and right-click. Then type adb devices - if it returns a number with the word "device" (not the word "offline"), then you can try to use those adb codes I posted in my previous post. Otherwisem you need to use fastboot and flash fxz or system only.

Unzip the sbf/fxz - all the files in a single folder, on your desktop or in the root of your C:\ drive (like C:\ InlineFlashing_Edison_XX-XX-XX_CFC_P3_APBP.xml - where that is the name of the folder)
Then put the .bat file and other files from my restore_to_ics zip and the restore_system_only .bat in that same folder.
Then, connect with USB while in AP fastboot mode, see if it says "OK to program", then double-click the restore-ics-system-only.bat

Solved the issue by inserting a sim card into the phone.
Now I'm on CM 10.1
Hey guys,
I goofed today, and clicked system when wiping without having a backup in my sdcard (whoops). My problem is now, I can't boot the phone (obv) so the phone doesn't show up in windows. I still have access to TWRP, but I need stock zip. I have a stock zip, but I can't transfer it to my phones sdcard.
Other than doing the traditional adt bundle + flashing it the long way, does anybody have any ideas on how I can get the zip file to my phone even though I have no system and it won't show up in Windows 8?
Thanks so much.
Download the Google image from Google and extract the system.IMG
Then go boot loader on phone then type: fastboot flash system system.IMG
That will flash the system back on and you're done.

Have you phone booted into recovery.
Connect it to your PC
Move the stock zip file into the same folder on your PC as adb.exe
Open the command prompt from that window (shift + right click then "open command window here")
Type the command: adb push nameofzip.zip /sdcard/
(nameofzip being the name of the file you want to push)
It will transfer the file to you internal storage and you can then flash it.
thank you but ...

Sorry, your image isn't going through on my phone. You should have a file that extracts to a flash-all.bat, some *.sh files, a zip file and some other stuff. The zip file should extract to a number of *-.img files with system.img being one of them

I downloaded the whole zip file from android police, extracted that like you said, and all i see is:
META-INF (File Folder)
patch (File Folder)
recovery (File Folder)
system (File Folder)
various "bootloader.*.img" 's
bootloader-flag (text document)
bootloader-flag-clear (text document)
radio.img.p (P file)
P.s. I also checked all of the folders and the folder within the folders and could not find a "system.img" or another zip file

Also, if I have a modified system or framework with anything such as Xposed, will flashing the system.img for the current android version always revert it so I can sideload the newest update? And if I have a custom kernel I would have to do the boot.img as well?

Yes, to both your questions. If you have a custom kernel you'll need to boot.img too
I've uploaded a few updated stock files for the Unlocked variant of HTC One A9 (1.12.617.6) in case anyone needs them.
USE THESE FILES AT YOUR OWN RISK!
They can be found here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8OH6sFjVE1ldGNjN29KX19zZm8
RUU_HIA_AERO_UL_M60_SENSE7GP_ATT_NA_Gen_Unlock_1.12.617.6.zip
This is an extracted zip of the latest HTC RUU.
This file will wipe everything on your phone EXCEPT External (SD) Storage
The easiest way to flash is to download the file, rename it to 2PQ9IMG.zip, copy it to your SD card, reboot to download mode and press volume up when prompted to flash
Otherwise, you can flash using htc_fastboot in RUU mode
fastboot oem rebootRUU
htc_fastboot flash zip RUU_HIA_AERO_UL_M60_SENSE7GP_ATT_NA_Gen_Unlock_1.12.617.6.zip (what is htc_fastboot? it's HTC's very own fastboot utility that allows you to flash larger files than regular fastboot. where can you find it? it's not hard)
HTC_A9_2PQ9IMG_1.12.617.6_SystemImageBackupAndBoot.zip
TWRP system image backup. This file will restore your system to an unmodified state and should allow you to take an OTA Update if you're rooted or otherwise modified your system partition
This is NOT a flashable zip. It is a regular old compressed zip file.
Download it to your computer, unzip it, and copy the contents to the TWRP backup directory (sdcard/TWRP/Backups/.../...) on your device.
Boot to recovery
Go to Mount Menu and set System to Read-Only
Go to Restore and find and select this backup folder
Optional - I've included the stock boot image in case you have flashed a modified boot image and want to restore this as well
HTC_A9_2PQ9IMG_1.12.617.6_Stock_boot.img
stock boot image extracted from the 1.12.617.6 OTA update package
flash in download mode (fastboot flash boot HTC_A9_2PQ9IMG_1.12.617.6_Stock_boot.img)
HTC_A9_2PQ9IMG_1.12.617.6_Stock_recovery.img
Stock recovery for Unlocked edition (1.12.617.6)
Save this file in your fastboot folder
Boot to DOWNLOAD mode
Flash using fastboot (fastboot flash recovery HTC_A9_2PQ9IMG_1.12.617.6_Stock_recovery.img)

I tried to install xposed framework on my phone but it got stuck at the boot screen after installation. I copied the system image backup files into my SD card slot and booted it in recovery (TWRP). I've done everything the instruction says and i'm at the point where I've mounted the "system" folder as read-only. I go to the restore option but i don't see any files or folders to restore from. Please help... Thank you.

Did you copy my folder (2015-11-14--01-18-44_MRA58K_release-keys) into your TWRP backup directory?
Edit: if you don't have a TWRP backup directory, the easiest way to create one is to just run a backup of one of the small partitions (boot/recovery).
It worked... You're the best!!!!

That's the message when you try to restore? Did you go into the mount menu and mount system as read-only (there's a check box underneath all the partitions)?
Hello, somehow I've managed to delete my OS. I'm still unlocked and s-off but when I try to restore with your file it crashed. So I wiped everything and started over. Here's my issue now. I downloaded your file and extracted it to put onto an external sd. Once I did that I made a small backup in TRWP and moved the file to sd/TRWP but when I go to restore its blank with only the small back up showing. I can't put system to read only, it think its because I have no OS. I can click/unclick everything else just not system.

You moved the backup folder under external_sd/TWRP/YOUR_SERIAL_NUMBER/ ? That's where it has to be for TWRP to see it. And that shouldn't prevent you from being able to mount system read-only (unless you're getting an error on /system, in which case you should wipe/format it).

Each time I hit a dead end, I wipe and format. I am getting an error saying unable to mount system. I sent some info over to @jcase about my device and he said that HTC sent me an engineer firmware version. Does that make a difference at all?

I am afraid I could not understand you here.
This is what I have done:
I tried this location in the internal storage:
sdcard/TWRP/backups
I also tried this location in external sd card:
ex_sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS
In both the cases, I could not select "Stock Edited ROM SM-G318H"
I hope I am quite clear in what I have done so far. I am using TWRP (v2.8.7.0) to do this work.
Please help.
