So I got a little bit overzealous and accidentally flashed a gsm rom to my cdma phone (we all make mistakes) and now it just hangs at the Touch Pro2 splash screen. I can still enter the recovery mode but it does nothing when I run the recovery. Is there anything I can do? Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

hold power and volume down and hit the reset button, keep holding power and vol down until you see the tricolor bootloader screen, from there you can connect to your computer and flash a new rom
I think we need to make a sticky pointing our what people have done wrong to make them think they have bricked their phone and then how to fix it, because there are a lot of posts saying potential bricking phones and it is the same fix everytime.
Well you may be about people knowing the definition of brick but the suggestion for installing a new rom does not work because even in the colored boot screen my computer does not detect that it is connected and hence I cannot reinstall a new rom. Is there a driver I need to install to get my phone to be detected sans operating system or some software i need to install? I have a feeling once my computer detects my phone it will be smooth sailing from there. Thanks again for your prompt replies.
when i plug mine in it automatically installs a driver (ive done this on multiple computers using multiple OSes) and the white bar at the bottom changes from saying Serial to saying USB, then i can flash a rom as normal
another way im not as familiar with but im sure with a little searching you can find help, would be flashing directly from the SD card, i did it once for a radio rom but dont recall the exact procedure, sorry
I tried flashing the phone from the sd card using this method:
"Step 1: find the rom/radio you wish to flash and download it
Step 2: extract the .nbh file out of said rom package (will usually be named RUU_SIGNED.nbh if the rom is packed in an exe use pocket rar to extract from your phone or 7zip/winrar from your pc)
Step 3: rename the .nbh file to RHODIMG.nbh
step 4: place rom on the root of your SD card (meaning not in any folders)
step 5: power down the device completely
step 6: hold volume down and power (sleep/wake button on the Verizon variant) till the screen boots into bootloader mode (red green blue screen)
step 7: when prompted press power to flash
step 8: wait for it to finish, sometimes it will restart on its own, sometime you need to restart it yourself but make sure you wait for the flash successful screen.
".
It gave me the same result as before. Also, Is it typical for the bootloader screen to only flash for a second and then get a grey screen that prompts you for action? Thats what my phone does, it shows a grey screen immediately after the bootscreen with 3 options which are: 1. "restore factory settings" 2. "Use custom configuration" and 3. "take no action and restart the phone" I tried both options 1and 2 with the sdcard method and got nothing. I also plugged my phone into my laptop and it installed microsoft usb sync driver but the mightyrom RUU, or any RUU for that matter, does not detect the phone, I get an error[264]: connection. Thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it.
If I can't fix it tonight, I'm taking it to the store tommorrow see if I can get it replaced
no, that shouldnt happen, it should stay at the red/green/blue screen, ive never seen the screen you describe
one thing you want to try is formatting your micro sd card to a fat32 then install the continue with the rest of the steps you described. i know this because i did the exact same thing you did. but now I'm typing from the same phone actually it happened a few times works everytime. i just know to triple check your rom to make sure its for your device. meaning gsm or cdma oh and dont forget to remove the sd card after the install and its best if the nbh is the only item on your card when you perform the flash.
@septimusx25 Thank you for posting this! I'm a noob and had the same problem with mine and thought it was a gonner. I was sweatin bullets! LoL
@sapperpipo Thanks for the SOLUTION! It worked perfectly and now I can use my baby again.
I tried (risk) this tonite and it work out good. It took me like 20 min (should be shorter if I understand with the instruction means the first time). It's prretty simply and straight forward.
**It works with me but I can't guarantee it'll work with anyone else. I just think that it don't make sense requiring a window XP machine to do the update. I don't responsible to anyone brick their phone**
1) Go to LG Support web site and "Download LG Mobile Support Tool to PC"
2) After download the LG Mobile support tool (updater tool), run it. It'll show phone is discounted. Plug in your phone and it should start connecting it. If doesn't connect, click the install driver on the right hand side. After the new driver installed it will connect.
3) Once connected to your phone, click the update button on the bottom. The software will update your phone now. Your phone will show up the S/W update screen now.
4) When the installation bar run to 50%, it'll stop and ask you to do something. The instruction ask you to first unplug the phone; second remove battery and then put it back in; third turn on your phone (it'll show S/W update screen); forth click "restart" button; fifth when it show phone disconnected, plug back in your phone and click restart again.
5) Now it'll start the update all over again from 0%. Here's the tricky part. This time the installation will run pass 50% but stop at 75% asking you to do the same thing on step 4. So you just do exactly what you just did from step 4.
6) Same thing it'll start the update from 0% again. This time it'll run all the way to 100% and complete the update. Once it complete your phone will boot up again. Then you'll have updated baseband 2.3.3 v21e rom.
After that you'll do all the recovery and flashing as usual. The speed is faster than 2.2.2 (I test it with a bone stock G2x). Everything is working fine.
I just found one problem. IF you need to install new driver from the LG Mobile Support Tool in order to connect your phone, you'll need to re-install the T-Mobile USB driver v2.2 to get your phone mount to your PC again.
Enjoy and hope this help.
PS: If the Mods find it useful, please sticky this.
nice write up.
A few things i found.
works much better on 32 bit versions.
you must have a t-mobile SIM for the updater to work.
I am on Walmart Family Mobile and if fails the Cell # check.
if you fail somewhere, it may be required to uninstall everything and start over.

Man, this is a dangerous post. You were told to remove your battery, because a connection could not be made. If you remove the battery during an install that has no connection problem, you will brick your phone.
Be very clear here. When updating anything, first and foremost, follow instructions listed on the page. Read the instructions through BEFORE starting update. If you do not understand, do NOT update.
Do not adlib. Do not think you know better. Do NOT pull your battery unless you are told Pull your battery.
32bit/64 bit Windows 7 makes not difference. It will update equally with either. But you should protect your update by making sure pop up blockers and malware/AV are turned off. Turn off fax programs, skype, things like that. Then try your update. BTW....this is true for most updates on any other device, to include your PC.
Just be careful and follow instructions.
I dont understand I Used the LG update tool the day no wait the hour the update came out I have a windows 7 64 bit pc my phone is a p999dw and it went off without a hich. I did not have to pull the battery and I did not have to install the updated drivers. I had the LG mobile updater on my computer since I bought the phone about 2 weeks after relese and discovered that I needed to install the drivers. I dont understand why all the problems and I never heard You can only use an xp machine. I did however read that you originally needed an xp machine to fix your phone if it bricked but even that was fixed. Just like the dude said in the post above me just read the directictions and be careful
ehh all i can see now is S/W uptade srcreen, i can reboot to cwm recovery,
does it mean i need a new phone or there is still a chance? ;/
Nvm, ive just called TM and they gonna send me a replacement
I need some help to unbrick my Rogers branded O3D P925g. I was able to root it and manually install the camera mod from erosized. Then i tried manually installing the performance pack and when i rebooted its looping at the Rogers screen. Can i use the unbrick method from the p920? Thanks again.

I had mine bricked as well and this method worked great for getting it back.
Step 1: Get the newest KDZ file for your phone/carrier. I got mine from here:
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=xxxxxxx
Where xxxx is enter the IMEI of your phone which is found under the battery.
Step 2: follow the instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1186406\
This will bring it back from pretty much any state. Mine was not even booting up to the LG Logo and this restored it.
Good Luck.
Just fixed mine. Use LG Update Tool, Click on Customer Support and then Recovery Phone. Enter your IMEI number and it will completely wipe the phone contents and install the newly released v20c BB and software. This process took me about 20 minutes and then an additional 10 min or so to boot into the OS. Worked flawlessly with my SIM and microSD still in the phone. Didn't loose any data from my microSD either. Got 4G back as well. Note that rooted state will be removed and CWM Recovery will be replaced with Android Recovery.
Same Problem no resolution
I have the same phone and when I use those links I cannot get anything to show up no matter how i enter the information.
My phone is stuck on the lg screen and it wont boot up. could someone give me a link to LG P925G stock firmware or some method of unbricking my phone. i have't had much luck.
all because I used Rom Manager too.
I cannot even go into recovery mode is my phone totaly bricked? I need some tips.
how to unbrick

here is the most easy and straight-forward way I discovered to unbrick or overcome any flashing error no matter what it is (it applies to lg o3d, and thrill 4G, I think it will apply to their fellows)
1-you must have drivers installed of-course
2-remove your battery
2-open your pc device manager and look at COM and PORT section
3-hold volume up button (only) and connect your mobile to pc through USB while pressing this button, and keep pressing until you see a new port has been added and installed in your COM and PORT section (about 15-20 sec), now you can release the button, be sure that port will stay apparent after releasing the button, or repeat this step (with longer press on volume up button)
4-put your battery back and don't touch your phone again
5-now start flashing by following these 2 tutorials in order:

Boot back in to your recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache. Format system and then install your ROM. There are major differences between CM11 and CM7. When making big jumps like that it's always best to format system before installing a ROM.

I just did factory reset via cwm
And still have a problem
So do just what you say and do
system format?
You mean that you are going to have a system folder in the mount and stroage given formatting?

In CWM select Wipe data/factory reset. This will wipe the cache, dalvik cache and a couple other partitions. Then go to Mounts and Storage and select Format System. That will format the system partition.
Now go back to CWM home screen and install your ROM.

Hi,
May I ask for help here (instead of creating a new thread) ? I have the same problem: The device is booting loop at the LG screen. Bricked it when I wanted to save the ROM with ROM Manager.
I have no access to recovery mode, but Emergency mode does work (With and without battery).
I've followed multiple guides, including this one:
Most of you are stuck on a yellow screen with”Emergency mode!!” or the phone is not responding at all. You guys wanted a custom rom like Optimus Prime-v2 and let me tell you, this time it will work. Optimus One P500 comes with stock android 2.2 – V10a, V10b … and android 2.2.1 – V10n. They might be done for different regions depending upon the phone release and its popularity and definitely bug fixes and enhancements. To have Prime-v2 on your handset you will require V10a or V10b on your handset. Reason, V10n stock cannot be rooted easily. Rooting the handset is must if Prime-v2 is required on the device. Steps to install V10a, V10b series. I am using Windows 7 32-bit, 3 GB RAM laptop:
1. Clean your system first; get rid of LG PC suite and other stuff shown in Uninstall Program with vendor name as LG. Remove MSXML builts from the handset. Remove Nokia and other drivers if they are on system like Ovi suite etc. I also removed a lot of Microsoft runtime environments. Not sure about the reason but it worked for me.
2. LG usb device drivers, download the application B2CAppSetup.exe http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/client/app/B2CAppSetup.exe .
3. In the Menu Bar, click "Options & Help", and click "Country & Language". Select the appropriate Country & Language. I used India and select P500 from the list that popup after you change the country and region. It will download, install and save the drivers somewhere in C:\LGP500\USB_Driver, it will prompt to open the rar files, just click and install the exes seen in them.
4. Reboot the system.
5. Right click on Computer -> Properties -> Device Manager and see for three drivers – LG android usb modem, LGE serial usb port and LG composite USB device. Disable the modem driver and reboot once again.
6. Switch off the phone and press volume up + BACK button + POWER button. Phone should turn yellow with text “Emergency Mode!!” To switch it off you have to remove the battery (I know it hurts, but that’s the only way out here). Switch off and let’s continue with the setup.
7. To do the KDZ of system you will require the KDZ software updater, links keep going off and on internet. Try searching for “KDZ_FW_UPD_EN” or “KDZ_FW_UPD_EN.7z” in Google and download the software. It should be somewhere around 2.3 MB. To use it you will required some good version of WinZip or winrar again Google it and install the 7z archive utility.
8. Install msxml.msi as the manual or readme.txt says to do so.
9. To get the V10x Official ROM, you need to first determine the ROM of your choice. List of all firmware available for LG Optimus One P500 (list of codes) http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/ezlooks_model_list.jsp?model=LGP500 , search for your country (use IE it looks sexy in it), I looked out for IND/INDIA. Download link to the ROM is http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500/XXXXX/V10a_00/V10A_00.kdz where XXXX is code from list of codes. In my case it was: AINDBK. Save the file.
10. Prepare the handset by removing the SD card and boot it to emergency mode (some are already stuck on it so reading this post…: D) using the key combination stated above.
11. Connect to the PC and it should say, installing drivers’ blah… blah … your device is ready to use now.
12. Run the KDZ updater downloaded in step 7. Select 3GQCT in Type, DIAG in PhoneMode, and browse for ROM V10a in KDZ file and hit Launch Software update. Wait for somewhere around 5-10 minutes. It should say ===FINISHED=== in the log window of updater.
13. Handset will reboot, if not wait for another 5 minutes. Unplug from USB and try to switch it on.

My problem is that KDZ still doesn't find my phone after all these attempts - I uninstalled the device driver, then reinstalled it succesfully (B2CAppSetup.exe). I reboot, install msxml.msi, and start KDZ.
Next, I power my phone in Emergency phone, plug it, and it is detected for the first time by the computer. I do have LGE Android Platform Composite USB Device, listed in the Device Manager, as well as LGE Android Platform USB Modem.
Using KDZ, I select the "3GQCT" type, phone mode "DIAG", with the correct KDZ file I've downloaded earlier. Once I launch the software update, phone is not found.
I've tried several times, including desactivating the LG Modem from the Device Manager; unfortunately, when I disable it I need to reboot - I do reboot, but then the LGE Android Platform Composite USB Device is absent from the device manager, and isn't detected by Windows at all, until I fully reinstall the driver (...).
I really don't know what I'm doing wrong - note that I use a laptop with Windows 7 x64; I know laptops handle USB port in a different way than desktops.
Can you help please?
I must be SO close... =(
Thanks, I really appreciate it!

First, serious word of advice. Stay away from ROM Manager. It does not handle this device correctly.
It sounds to me like you are not entering Emergency Mode correctly. Yes, the LG USB Modem must be disabled. Power off the device. Press the "Back + Volume Up + Power" buttons together until the device boots to Emergency Mode. Now connect device to you PC/laptop. This can also be done with the battery removed and the device off. Same method except no power button involved. Press the "Volume Up + Back" buttons while attaching your device to your data cable, assuming it's already attached to your PC/laptop.
The attachment I've posted is a stripped down version of the KDZ Updater. All you need to supply is the correct KDZ file for your phone. This one does not require any of LG's other crap software either.
Download to your PC. Extract to a folder of your choosing. Read the ReadMe.txt carefully and follow it's directions to the letter. I just used this to revive two ( 2 ) bricked P506's.
If you can boot to fastboot mode, there is a tool in my signature, Android Flash Recovery, that is designed to flash a recovery to a device with fastboot. So you have two options to restore, revive your device.

Hey, cheers !!
That was all I needed to do with this simple version, the update got applied properly, and I saw the FINISHED message.
My phone "rebooted". Well, what I see now if the Android logo with a big " ! ", which is normal according to what I've read.
I will do more ressearch to make sure what I do if correct now: is this safe to power off/reboot at this screen? I believe it's the last step.

Holding the power button does not shut it down - pull the battery, right (It won't screw the thing right before the end ? XD ) ?
Look.. correct:
12 - Start the phone again. If you get stuck in a screen with an Android and an exclamation mark ("!") in a triangle, just unplug the USB cable and the battery. Plug the battery again and start the phone. It will take 2 to 5 minutes to reboot for the first time and the boot animation will be the stock LG (your carrier's stock animation is lost for good), but chances are your phone is intact, with all it's apps and configurations working the same as before the incident. When the boot finishes, turn off the phone again and put back the SD Card you took off on the first step.

If KDZ Updater says it's done and your device has rebooted to recovery, then yes you can pull the battery to shut it down. You may still need to do the key presses for a factory reset, but the key combo has slipped my mind for the moment. Old age...

Really nice, I have the Android logo !!
I will wait - people says it can take up to 5-15 minutes or even more - I won't shutdown on the logo.
Letting you know as soon as it's done.

After a while, the device booted, and I had a few messages saying it was restoring all the settings!
No data loss! Nothing (I had backed up my contacts and apps on my SD Card already - I was unsure if I would have loose my SMSs, I didn't) is lost !
Dude, seriously, thanks A BUNCH - this is ridiculous, I screwed the phone up at like 10PM yesterday, and did not went to sleep until 2AM because I couldn't fix the thing (I had access to FastBoot at first. I did a process to restore it from Fastboot, it should have worked properly, but then I only had access to the LG logo. Man, I thought I was toasted, and had to spend 50$ for a new phone, just because of a stupid mistake. Never would I thought that SAVING the ROM of my SD card would have screwed up the ROM!)...
I spent like 6 hours today trying to fix it, reinstalling the drivers over and over again... Installing a fresh new Windows XP on a machine, just so I could install everything on a new operating system to figure out the problem...
That was just plain crazy, seriously.
****BONUS****
The first thing I've noticed when I booted my phone was the BLACK notification bar
I really love black, and I once did ressearch a while ago to see if I could turn my white bar into black (I have Android 2.2.1), but no success.
I just realised I got it updated "accidentally" to Android 2.3, and so I was on Android 2.2. since 2011 (when I bought it) !
Well, nice addition, it is sexier with black
I belive it's because of the KDZ file I've used... I had a really hard time to find one, all the links were broken, from 2010, it's a old phone. I found the KDZ from Koodo, Canadian French, exactly my own.
Guess I "accidentally" upgraded to Android 2.3 then Nice addition !
I have no experience at all with fixing Android devices / ROM stuff - I'm used with Windows/Linux and others, but Android (although Android is a version of Linux) is another thing for me.
THANKS - seriously, I wouldn't have made it without your help.
YAY

Thanks for helping NOOBS, i appreciate that!
I'm sorry if this problem is solved elsewhere but I've tried to look & I'm only wasting time. Ok so I've got a refurbished 9 that came from insurance and it was on android 11 still and would not update to 12, my old one did no problem. I'm in the US, and on T-Mobile locked and i thought i was updating and when it restarted i got this message: Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and will not boot

which i did and it didn't tell me anything useful. I literally cant do anything with it, not a soft reboot or safe or whatever its called, power and volume up and down then together both volume & power i get the recovery, reboot, barcode, power off, start, screen and I've tried all and tried taking out sim, nothing helped. I have no idea how to fix this step by step, literally need baby steps step by step how to get this back. Someone please help and i apologize, I'm disabled & i just cant afford to have it sent off and repaired. Thanks in advance to anyone & everyone who can help.
Keep it on fastboot and you can either do all the commands to flash the image files or plug into your computer, use the Indian MSM and click start, then reboot your phone and it will grab it and should flash it that way too
