I jsut dicovered my new G4's wifi has been disabled by operator. Can anyone help to activate it? There is a red cross over the comm manager on today screen. Please help!!
Do I feel silly or what.
I got rid of the icon (and the whole tray) so I didn't remember, but the cross just means your WiFi is off (not flight mode as I said earlier), which is the default state. Open the comm manager (you can use the button on the left side of the phone) and tap the antenna icon. this will turn WiFi on.
Just in case I am wrong (phone operators don't like devices with WiFi because it reduces data usage by customers) hard reset your phone and quickly soft reset before customization is installed (there should be a 3 second countdown).
What the above poster said.
Or perhaps flash your phone with a new/clean ROM from e.g. qtek. (here)
But flashing the device is not really everyone their thing, so you need to figure out whether you wanna do that at all. Giving it a hardreset without installing the extra apps almost gives the same result.
But don't forget to use the 'ROMUpdateUtility_NoID.exe ' when you try to update, else you get an error. But that's all in the topic there. And don't forget to fully charge battery before update
(hey, this is the upgrading part of website no bad to lead people to the dark side eh? )
wifi
I have tried so many romes and none of them will turn on my wifi is there some trick I need to know about? did you fix your wifi?
Well, when using a different rom I guess the operater doesn't have that much to do with it anymore.
Just when you go into the com-manager you see an icon that looks like an antenna thingy with a little cross next to it. Just press it and there you have wifi (should become yellow without the cross).
That should be working standard with a 'normal' rom like the new qtek one. Connecting is another story though once the wifi is enabled (connecting with wifi is a bit tricky at times).
I flashed the qtek rom on my Dopod 830 (bought in China) successfully. However, the wifi on the comm manager still failed to activate. So the assumption (conclusion) is China Telecom simply removed the the wifi chip.
I think you may just have a faulty device.
To my knowledge, no phone company actually has the facility, or would bother with the enormous cost of modifying devices in such a way.
Could you be more specific as to what happens? I have a feeling there is a big misunderstanding here somewhere.
You press the button on the side, the comm manager comes up, you click the icon with an antenna and...
a) noting happens.
b) error message pops up.
c) wait cursor (circle with 4 colors) appears, but the button remains with the x.
d) non of the above.
I think you may have rushed a bit with flashing different ROMs. Try putting the original ROM back, without the extended ROM and see what happens.
Thanks levenum! My problem is (c), there is a waiting sign and the icon remained x. The original rom is in simplified chinese CHS and now I am having the 2.20.7.34 wwe with everything running fine except wifi. Will try to flash back to a CHS rom and see what is happening.
Well that does sound like a hardware / driver problem, but it is more likely a fault than intentional deactivation.
Is the phone under warranty by chance?
If so, once you have the original ROM you might try getting it repaired in the lab.
Also check the phone details on the site of your phone company. Do they state this model has WiFi or do they 'conveniently' omit it.
I checked with China Telecom and Dopod, they said the wifi chip has been removed. I am not sure how they can remove the chip but many phones selling in China have got wifi removed. How can I know the wifi is physically removed or is jsut deactivated?

I have exactly the same problem with you, as I searched the forum, some poster tell that Dopod from China mobile, the wifi chip is factory removed.
Does anyone have the schematic of the full-function prophet, so i could locate the wifi chip position, so i can upgrade my Dopod 830 by hardware way
thanks

Hello
after several posts with Customer Support of HTC and with full and yes full explaining exactly this problem with auto scan, I get this answer
=============================
Thank you for contacting HTC ,
Dear Mr. *****,
Regarding the issue you're facing with the handset, kindly follow the instructions below:
Kindly confirm that you have followed the instructions below to save the channels:
To save FM stations as presets
1. Tune in to the desired FM frequency, and then tap Presets.
2. On the Presets list, tap that appears on the desired preset number where you want to save the FM station.
Tip Tap to remove a favorite FM station from the list.
3. When done, tap OK.
To listen to a preset FM station
On the FM Radio screen, tap the station preset button. If the station preset button is not on the screen, tap Presets, scroll through the list of preset stations, and then tap the station you want to listen to.
If you've followed the steps above and still the issue persists, please perform the troubleshooting below:
1) Kindly Check if the device has enough Free Memory to run (at least 5MB)
Please go to : Start> Settings> Menu> All settings>System> Memory,
If there is less than 5 MB free in each category, you need to free up some memory by removing files from the device or by shutting down programs that are not actively in use.
To Free up the program memory
Please go to : Start> Settings> Menu> All settings>System > Task manager> Stop All.
Free up the Storage memory
Please go to : Start> Setting> Menu> All settings>System tab> Managed Programs. Remove programs.
Once memory has been freed up, kindly re-test.
2) Please check if this issue has occurred after using any 3rd party applications. If yes, please remove the 3rd party software and retest the device.
3) Kindly perform a Soft reset to the handset by removing the back cover and pressing the reset button.
Incase any of the troubleshooting above doesn’t solve the issues you’re facing with your device kindly perform the following:
Please backup all data on the device by synchronizing to a computer, My phone application, or using a data backup program using a memory card, afterwards, perform the Cold-boot (Hard-Reset) and retest the device.
To perform a Hard Reset:
3. Start>Settings>Security>Factory data reset
4. Press 1234 and press yes
Caution: this process will erase all the information from the phone memory
=========================
and that is the solution, don't use auto scan because there is no auto scan with some devices
any suggestion
FM radio...
In Switzerland, everything's fine.
But I'm searching for another FM radio tuner (free of course) to replace the poor native that comes with HD2. Before I was using Power Radio on Blackstone but with Leo it doesn't work.
Does anyone know a good FM Radio (not Internet) for my little (I mean giant !) Leo ?

Hi, I have an px5 xtrons and a problem with the clock on Android 8 (stock and malaysk rom) When I restart the car the unit have the old time of shutdown. (Unit connected to battery and no problem with android 6) Canbus is set on my model car and I have this problem, but if I set canbus model to none the clock works ok. I try to change canbus box but same issue. Anyone have a solution? Thanks
edit: even with the last malaysk android 6 rom same problem. Is it possible to solve putting downgrade version of clock app?

I've had the same issue for probably the past year or so when I first started playing with custom roms. I'm pretty sure it happened after doing an MCU update. I have GS PX3 MTCD running hal9 rom. I've tried disabling network time etc but no difference.
When booting the headunit the time appears to be correct, then it changes to the wrong time, then after a few mins when either GPS or wifi has got a connection it corrects itself. I haven't tried changing the canbus model in factory settings as it's already correct.
I've found that the Clock app from Google works. All other including the stock clock keeps the shutoff time.
same problem here after upgrading Xtrons PX5 unit to Android 8.... it seems that somethings changed in CAN-Bus communication. Where bevore the car could write the correct time into the HU it's not possible anymore and the wrong (stucked) time get written into the Dashboard. The time will not synced when the HU is in standby (fastboot)... but will synced within 1 minute if i make a full boot.

hi, can you explain in more detail haw you managed to make clock work with google clock app?
i have installed it but no changes. the clock still shows old shutdown time
Hi I'm having the same issue with my xtrons head unit. Did anybody figure out a fix for this?
Hello,
I have the same problem. I have tried to add clock app to the whitelist, (mtce-utils) but It doesn't work. The canbuis I don't know is working correctly, Torque applicacion can not detect ODB unit and I can not view any value.
I set the clock to get the time from GPS only and I ve never had a problem.

Yes, but it only works if you have GPS connection (outdoor). If you are into garage there is no GPS udpate.
I have XTRON PX5 unit with Malaysk 8.0 and I have set the following things on whitelist:
com.android.settings
com.android.providers.settings
com.microtek.hctwidget
com.android.deskclock
com.cyanogenmod.lockclock
I have used mtce-utils ehitelist and Graser Daisata Xposed modules and none of them works.
I have connected the unit to the battery to avoid losing memory.
What can be the problem?
Thanks!

Android 6.0 clock also not working
As of 11/30/2018 after doing an MCU update 2.83 for Android 6.0, my clock also stopped syncing with the car's when turning it back on. It also display the last time right before the car was turned off.
Turning on/off GPS update or network update or setting the clock manually makes no difference and does not fix issue. Hope to see a solution to this.
If you revert back to the original MCU version, does the clock start working normally again? I'm assuming it would... I would just revert back to the original MCU version and be done with it. Unless, of course, there is some specific fix in the newer MCU that you needed?

Did you export you MCU config before updating the MCU ?
I don't mind reverting back to the original MCU version I had but the problem I had with that one was my audio kept going back to sounding like mono instead of stereo each time I started the car. When I played video or music sound would only come out on my right door speakers. I kept having to do a factory reset each time to get it to come out at both sides.
I haven't browsed through the forum enough to see if anyone else experienced similar issues or if there were fixes for this.

You could try the latest MCU, they may have sorted it out, you dont say what unit you have.
You could also try updating to Ore, it may also be fixed in the latest ROM.
Thanks I'll have to give it a try. My unit is the HA 2150 V600 with the px5 chip.
HI did anybody manage to sort the clock issue out on the headunits thanks
I have been having this same issue for a long time and hoping to find a fix for it.
I have tried the Google Clock app, that did not work.
I have updated my MCU from Ver 1.81 to 2.65 to 2.75 and now on 3.0.1. None of these MCU versions fix this issue.
I have also tried the V2.75_sp and no change (Did not think this would help with this issue, but tried it anyways)
On each of the MCU versions above, I have tired multiple roms (Stock, Malyask and Hal9K) and no luck fixing the problem.
The only time I have been able for this to work is if I have wifi enabled and connected to a Hotspot and Network time sync selected in the settings/Date&Time. With this configuration the time sync works everytime.
Now when the time does not Sync and if I open the GPS Plus app, the time displayed in the app is correct. So based on this, the only thing I can think of is that somehow the time from GPS is not being pushed to the clock app.
Guys I think I found the solution, at least it works in my case. What happens actually is that the unit is set to autosleep and not to shut it down. So when the unit goes to sleep, everything freezes including the clock time. When you put back the key contact, the unit goes back to live and all the apps start again from the moment when they went to sleep.
The solution which seems to work in my case, is to set the unit to shut down after I turn off the engine. Of course, it takes around a minute to turn on back when I put the contact key, but because the whole unit has been shut down, when it starts again it checks also the time clock and it syncs with either the GPS time or with the network provider time zone (depends what you have set). In my case I use the GPS time zone and with this workaround everything works well now.
It's not so much the MCU updates but the actual system update. Going backwards to the 20171214 system update will get the clock working fine again and should work with the most recent MCU update (my instance). With this version I didn't have to bother with changing the auto sleep or shutdown settings since it's an inconvenience to wait for a full minute for the unit to boot up. Also did not have to change GPS or network time sync either. I turn the key ON and the clock just works right away.
Hello there,
I've bought a second hand car with the chinese A-Media android system in it. Could it be the system is storing data about my driving routes? No matter how many times I try to disable the location function, it keeps turning on everytime I restart the system or better to say the car. Have also tried to disable as much apps that weren't necesarry for me, but some seem to be not deleteable (e.g. something like a GPS coordinates app? ). The previous owner was a company that used the car for their business.
How can I solve this, and is my feeling of being tracked / data being stored in the device/car real? Thanks!
Of course it's tracking you it's an Android system. If you have any concerns about the previous owner you should do a factory reset but since it probably came with some "special apps" you should look for the original firmware or root it and extract the apps. If you can turn off the GPS in settings just turn it on when you need to use it.

thanks for your info. It just bothers me that Location automaticly turns on when I start the car. Who says me some app is not spying on my location ? Turning it off in Settings does not work. Turns on automaticly every time at startup.
If you can't turn off the GPS from the Android settings you might be able to do it in the factory menu. Don't forget GPS and location are 2 different things. Do you know which HU you have?

I didn't knew it were 2 different things. What do you mean by HU ?
When I try to enter factory settings it ask for a password which I dont have.
Some info:
Model numer : A-MEDIA AUTO ( 1024 x 600 W )
Android version 6.0.1
Kernel Version 3.10.0 [email protected] # 1019
Buildnr px5-userdebug 6.0.1 MXC89L user.hct.20170619.104614 test key
MTCU version MTCD_KGL_V2.54_5
jun 15 2017
CPU 8 core 64bit CPU coretex-a53 @1.5G
mem 2000mb
You should be able to find lots of help for that unit. Sorry HU is head unit. Try 1260 for the password or maybe 8888. Refer to it as MTCD KGL and more people will know what unit you're talking about. Try not to change too much stuff in the factory setting it can make the HU stop working.

Wrap it in time foil.
Install is straight forward its plug and play but you will need to edit a few things to get it working depending on your region this guide guide will help you with that.
First thing i suggest is downloading the hal9k mod not required nor am i endorsed by it if you wish to donate to me my go fund me page link will be listed with the can bus file.
Second you need to update the Mcu/ Canbus to the latest stable known working version this will apply to all rockchip px5 px6 and px30 head units that is version 3.47m search my other post
After you start the unit go to system settings / car / factory settings and enter the password mine is 3368 it will be the first 4 NUMBERS OF YOUR BUILD NUMBER OMIT ANY LETTERS. Select radio and select America 1 for North America Usa or appropriate region.
Go to other check rear cam prohibited to enable backup camera, app install enable, steering wheel assignment swc key or can just use which ever works for you depending upon controls , factory is can swc is the metra kit.everything here should be good but you can go over them you can change the color pattern for the keys and a few other useless things DO NOT CHANGE CUSTOMER VERSION.
Go to Canbus if you have a 06 to 07 , a 7.5 gen you want 123 accord_7_2 changyuantong if you have a 03 to 05 you want 116 accord_7 daojun
Driver position left rudder
Type 1 for single zone 2 for dual climate
Normal
Normal
Normal
Type 2 . 2 Temp F
Hit apply and exit unit will reboot
Almost finished
Go to settings / system / date and time/ select time zone and change it from China to where ever you are, now
EVERYTHING should work at this point anything else is your basic android tablet you can't access developer settings on the stock Rom . Make sure you go through all the settings to watch tv while driving, long press the screen when the backup camera comes on to access settings and edit lines. If you need any help feel free to post here.
