Samsung Gear VR headset - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

Has good reviews on Amazon and I'm curious about this whole VR trend I'm seeing. Do any of you guys have it? Any recommendations? Does the Note 5 fit properly? Can I get it for cheaper than $100?

I've got the Gear VR and i would definitely recommend it. The note 5 fits perfectly even with a tempered glass screen protector. I feel as though it is more of a novelty at this point, but there are some good games and video experiences on it. You can find lightly used headsets on Amazon starting at $52, so not that much if you want to spring for one. I use mine about 2-3 days a week for a few hours at a time and love trying out new games and experiences. Would recommend a Bluetooth controller as well. I use the Steel Series Stratus XL. Overall if you want a good, cheap introduction to VR and see the potential for the medium, go ahead and check it out.

G2 Arm Band?

Anyone else use the G2 with an arm band? I'm thinking of it since I don't want to go out and buy an ipod nano.
Which one are you using and how's the fit?
I have a feeling the G2 feels a bit too heavy for comfortable running, but it's worth a try to ask!
G2 is a bit heavy for armband imo
l think they cost around £10-20 so if you want to use it for running i would just
buy an ipod shuffle £30 or sony Walkman W-series £27 it is waterproof (if where you live rains all the time like here in scotland) and it doesnt have any wire.

^------------ Pretty much what he said. another option though, as it may sound silly is to have a light belt with a side pouch to put the phone in and keep it secured. you can probably combine that with your housekeys and necessary cards and have a 1 pouch for all.

oh god no not a fanny pack.
i meant like a vertical pouch that goes on your side not the front. something that is slimmer.. let me see if i can find some pics. brb
edit: something along the same vein as http://www.bargainstation.com/Produ...-Detachable-Shoulder-StrapNylonBlack-Platinum
not exactly this one, but the same idea. I have a plain one that has 2 slots. a big one for whatever electronic i have and a tiny one for keys or cards.
I just hold it in my hand, and I'm a girl. Not very comfortable but it's not the end of the world.
nano and shuffle don't have GPS on them and I can't google tracks or CardioTrainer on them.
I would like a functioning armband also. I can't hold the phone in my hand when I'm on a bike. I have a Nano for music, but I'm also wanting to use Endomondo or Sports Tracker

I used one for my G1 and loved it. When I upgraded to the G2, I got an iarmband to fit it. I also use my iarmband to 'mount' my phone on exercise machines at the gym using the strap doubled over and velcroed with the additional tab.
I began using a football wrist coach with my Touch Pro a few years ago and my G2 fits nicely, as well. (google or bing "football wrist coach" to see more versions than you'll ever need) I stumbled on this while trying to find something in my stash of extra parts to secure the relatively brick-like Touch Pro to my upper arm and reduce the flopping during runs. The wrist coach holds everything securely and I'm not constantly having to readjust it.
When running, I have it rotated so the clear panel is facing away from my body to prevent the phone from hitting my torso. When riding, I have it rotated so the clear panel is on the inside of my wrist, which is convenient for quickly glancing down at the screen while in the aerobars or drops.
Cons:
- the come in several sizes, so you need to find a sporting goods store to assure you choose one that will fit your device and your arm
- you may need an extension cable for your headphones if you want to listen to music on your device while running; the swing of your arm can pull the earphones out of your ears easily - not a problem while riding typically.
e.g. My high-end Shure earphone cables are modular and work perfectly, whereas my mid-range $50 Sony's cables are too short for running comfortably.
As always, YMMV

I have been searching for a running band for months. This looked like the best option on this thread so I ordered one today. I will provide feedback when it arrives.

Finally received and tried the iarmband. It works for my runs. I like that the touch screen works through clear screen cover. Issues are the headphone hole is not perfectly aligned. It is a little tight on the arm, could have more ajustability. Overall I am very happy with this solution, issues are minor. I would recommend.

I have the Arkon SM-Armband and it works amazing and is only $14.95. Maybe find it cheaper on ebay or amazon. Here is the link to view videos and purchase:
<P><P>http://www.arkon.com/sports_armband/tmobile_g2_armband.html
I bought the Arkon SM armband for my G2...
I had read this thread plus the one over at androidforums.com before selecting it.
Here is the link.
EDIT, guess i need to make a couple more posts to put in a link....ok so here is the link text then for someone to copy if desired.
amazon.com/Arkon-Sm-Armband-Blackberry-Motorola-Smartphones/dp/B004VFFT3I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1327086415&sr=8-2
It works ok, although to make it real tight like i like it I put on 2 wristbands first (even though its up on my bicep area), then slide the thing on. Also, any case for the G2 must be taken off for it to slide in....even then its quite a tight fit. Not something you just pop in and go, gotta work it a tad. This is due to phone width, not.....face size....I guess.
Overall, pleased for the 16 bucks i dropped on it.
I bought a cheap armband a while ago off Ebay similar to this.
Works perfectly for me. Touchscreen works through the transparent plastic window.
Had to cut off a very small piece of the neoprene for the headphone plug to fit.

Otterbox Defender

I'm thinking of replacing my current Samsung Book Cover case with the Otterbox Defender series case on my Note 8. My experience with the Defender series is great, it's a great case on smaller devices but I want to know what it's like on this device. This particular case has a built-in hinge, sleeve, and screen protector. If anybody is using/has used this case, please let me know how it is.
Here's a link: http://www.otterbox.com/Galaxy-Note-8-Defender-Series-Case/sam2-galaxy-note-8,default,pd.html?dwvar_sam2-galaxy-note-8_color=20&start=2&cgid=samsung-galaxy-note-8-cases
Best investments I made for my Note 2.0 and my Note 8.0. I got the glacier color to match my phone case. The protector sleeve is actually pretty nice. Sorry I am at work and can't post photos. When the tablet is in my day bag and with the protector over the screen I am 100% sure that nothing witll happen to the screen. The hinge is actually in the "sleeve" and allows the tablet to be stood up straight or at an angle for whatever view you prefer. Someone mentioned that there is no SD card accedd but I bought the Samsung USB adapter that plugs into the power cord slot and I run my 1 TB Passport external drive off that to watch movies, view and save documents and even listen to over 10000 songs I have saved on it. Only down side to that accessory is that it SUCKS the battery life. If I could find a splitter where it is charging and using the TB drive I will be set. The case is a lil wider than the Gumdrop and a few ounces heavier but its not too noticeable.Other than not being waterpoof this is by far the most protective case out there for the Note 8.0. I went from the Samsung "book" cover type, then bought the Gumdrop case thinking that was the best one out there but if I would have just waited about 3 weeks I could have saved $65 but oh well. So if anyone wants either one I will sell them dirt cheap. I would say buy it because you will not be disappointed.
Cheers
I just received my OBD today! I was so excited to get it installed onto my 8...the thing is like a virtual tank now!
Had official bookcover on it previously. I would have never bought one but it was a freebie with my purchase. I liked how the cover sort of flipped over onto the screen, almost like it was magnetized. I never used it as a stand because I read that it make them not lie flat anymore. Also like the on/off feature, to which I am accustomed on my Note 2 via "Smart Cover" app. However, that case felt very flimsy. The top cover would slide around on the screen when closed, and give the impression it could slip right out of your hands when carrying it. Protection from a drop? I doubt it! Liked the slim form but having children and a daily commute to and from work, throwing it in my handbag every day, or even taking it out at lunch to read or play a game...I was VERY paranoid and toted it around like a newborn!
If you don't want any added weight or girth to your tablet, then don't get the OBD. It does make it a bit bulkier, heavier, yes. But a HARD plastic screen cap that SNAPS into place when not in use? Awesome! Perfect for transporting in a bag or even just under your arm. Piece of mind, for sure. I'm not testing it out with any drops to be sure, but I'm pretty certain it would fair pretty well.
The outside rubber silicone shell was harder than I thought it would be. However, I think it seems like it would be more durable than a softer material. It's tough to disassemble, so that's also a plus that it won't just come apart on a whim. The built-in screen protector seems pretty decent. Clear as glass. It feels a bit funky with s-pen but it's not horrible. Just have to get used to it. It also seems just a tiny bit bowed (maybe it is just the one I got) so when you push down with the pen near the center you can feel it love ever so slightly towards the glass. Really, no big deal, and could just be mine. Gladly I overlook this for the extra insurance.
Love the rubberized side buttons and port covers. I think they are a definite plus to keep dust & such out. It's not waterproof but if water would get spilled nearby while sitting, or splashed from rain or whatever, it would definitely deflect some or all of it. Don't drop it in the fishtank or the toilet and you should be fine!
I'd be glad to answer any questions. I just got it today so I haven't used it too much yet, but I can tell I'm gonna love it!
Thanks for the feedback! I'm definitely going to get this case!
Awesome..!!
Well I too carry this case for my Note 8.0 and it has just made my Note a strong MACHO product....
I got this case for my Note 8 last week and I love it.
I had an Otterbox Commuter on my iPhone 4S: saved it on one occasion in particular that could have cost me a new phone. I also had the Otterbox Defender on my old iPad 2. Both the old iPhone and old iPad are still going strong for my special lady friend and look brand new thanks to Otterbox.
I now have the Otterbox Commuter on my S4, Defender on Note 8 and I'm waiting for my recently ordered iPad Mini Defender.
These are great products, especially if you are a bit rough with your stuff.

It feels....different. Not as smooth as on glass. You can definitely tell there is more "drag" as you're moving the spen across. I am not one of those super-picky people who complain about everything (lol) so it doesn't really bother me.
The thing I've noticed most about the sensitivity of the screen protector (in general) is that it makes the screen a bit less responsive. You must press a little longer (we're talking such a minute split second though, and I'm talking finger here) and more deliberately. This is caused, in my opinion, by the fact that the protector is not sucked fast to the glass underneath. I can feel mine move the tiniest bit when I press on it (because it is not adhered but simply sits on top) and that small bit d, of space between it and the screen provides a slight delay. Don't let that scare you. It's really not that bad. Of course, like I said, consider the source here (non-picky-person!!!!) I would rather have a well-protected device with a inconsequential difference in touch than a vulnerable, naked one! IMHO
Can you remove the screen protector like in other Otterbox cases?
Just got mine today. I don't think you can remove the screen without messing it up. Prepared to be told I'm wrong though.

So, after owning the Otterbox for 2 months and 9 days, both "tabs" on the side of the "sleeve" that hold the tablet on it have broke. I am by no means rough on this thing at all. Even with the tablet being in the case I am still super easy on it. Submitted an online warranty claim, Sent in a couple of pictures of the damage to Otterbox, they reviewed my claim and within 24 hours I have a replacement heading my way. So even though it broke, I am still 100% satisfied with their product and now with their warranty process. If you haven't gotten an Otterbox yet, I say get one.
Cheers
I have had mine a couple of weeks and I love it. I am glad to hear how responsive Otterbox is to replace it.

I finally received mine in the mail (1 month wait while overseas from OtterBox, BUT it was free shipping!) and I don't think I'd be happier with another brand. The rubber isn't super soft, nor does it attract lint. I don't think the rubber will stretch any time soon, it's pretty solid! Definitely happy with my purchase!
I'm moderately happy with the Defender on my Note 2 (screen protector isn't flush, rubber stretches) and an considering a Note 8. Anyone got any long term reviews on this case?
re: Defefender-Note 8
Mine has been fine, EXCEPT one of the little tabs broke off of the cover portion. Since it was less than a year, I contacted OtterBox to get a replacement. I had everything gathered beforehand...receipt, place I purchased it, etc...ended up that I didn't really need all that stuff. They just wanted pics documenting the damage, and they also asked for the batch number (probably for quality control purposes-it's imprinted in the rubber.) They sent out the replacement right away via FedEx, had it in a few days. Could not be happier with their EXCELLENT customer service. I'm sure if you did have issues, they would be able to address them with you. Oh, and the rep on the phone was super nice & VERY friendly. :good:
I have the poetic revolution and i couldnt be happier. Its just as solid as the otterbox but only 30$ usd 3 year warranty it took to days from amazon..its feels premium protects well ...

Just finalized the design for the original Galaxy Gear Full Protection Skin. Next will be the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo & Gear Fit.

ORIGINAL THREAD FOR GALAXY GEAR (FIRST GEN.).
GEAR 2, NEO AND FIT WILL BE SIMILAR:
PROJECT FINISHED!
So after another full day of measurements and trial-n-error ... I finally got a finished product, well a few actually ... well a finished product with a few options lol.
Right now I'm rocking the Black skin on my Gear Gen.1 and it looks awesome! SO clean and sleek looking with just enough chrome to set it off with an expensive luxury look, but is now fully protected on all of its sensitive spots. The clasp protector was originally made because as a graphic designer, my wrist settled and was banged on a desk basically 8 hours a day, and that was my cure to keep my watch looking brand new. The full face idea came just for the option to change the color of my watch, the stainless steel looks great and all, but gets played out and sometimes just looks too much ... But I dealt with it, not really having any time to sit and work the schematics for a full face protector. Then it got to the point where I had to hang a towel over the hand railing of the treadmill because every once in a while I would accidently bang my watch off of it while doing my cardio at the gym, luckily the steel has held up well and I've always had one of my screen protectors on it, so it hasn't really been a big deal.
Now with a finished product in hand and on my wrist, I'm just kind of pissed I "back burnered" this project for so long! lol. As I stated before, I know everyone has kind of moved on to the new Gear 2 and the Gear 1 is kind of old news, But I still sell GG1 Screen & Clasp Protectors on a daily basis so I know there's still somewhat of a market for stuff like this. Regardless, I'll have my hands on a GG2 here soon to play around with and while doing so I will have a chance to get the measurements for this type of product for the new Gear 2 and possibly Gear Fit, neither have a speaker in the clasp, But I know the Gear 2 has a stainless steel clasp, and speaker or not, that thing is getting banged up ugly from daily use. So all the GG2 people, stay tuned because that project is just around the corner.
Since I originally dropped the GG1 Screen & Clasp Protectors at the end of last year I've seen a boom in people selling products like it on web-stores and places like eBay & Amazon, I'm not saying in anyway that I invented these, But when I made them, the Gear was fresh on the shelves and I couldn't find anything to protect the exposed/sensitive parts of my $300 investment, and once sold to the general public they really took off! and I thank the people here at XDA especially for being my "Beta Testers" in a way and hopefully the people who bought them here were completely satisfied! It was extremely shocking that something I made for fun/necessity turned into an actual marketable successful product and doing it literally as a one man team was a bit much at times, but awesome! ANYWAYS! the difference between what is currently being offered when it comes to full face protectors for the GG1 and what I was able to put together is, my skin covers the ENTIRE front of the gear, As far as I've seen on the net, they only cover the top and bottom portion of the Gears stainless steel face (If I am missing any out there by all means piss on my parade lol) mine are designed to cover the entire front for full protection as well as the option to change the look of the Gear all together. Pretty cool I think.
With all this being said, the only real challenge I faced upon finishing the design was getting the skin onto the Gear and on correctly, the material used for the skin is very flimsy and hard to maneuver, kind of like putting a screen protector on a phone, but worse! lol.
BUT! within a few minutes I had a solution, which was actually a perfect solution. Not only did it do the trick of being able to easily handle the material while putting the face protector on, it made it extremely easy to keep the skin perfectly straight and allow the installer to line everything up perfect for a perfect hassle-free installation (when done correctly) so I am pretty excited about it, and when these become available to the public (Very Soon!) that installation material will be sold with the protectors.
I've also decided to scratch selling the Clasp Protector by itself now that the Face Protector is done and they will be sold as a set, overall less confusing for the customer and myself when it comes to filling an order and just makes more sense. But now that I have a few color options available (more coming very soon!) I think I would be willing to mix and match colors/patterns with the Face & Clasp Protectors if anyone asked.
On that note as you will see in the pictures I currently have 4 color options available:
- BLACK (Jet-Black)
- PURPLE (Deeper Purple, Almost Plum)
- GRAY (Storm Cloud Gray, somewhat close to the gray color offered by Samsung on the Gear 1)
- GREEN (Darker, sort-of hunter Green)
COLORS/PATTERNS I PLAN TO HAVE VERY SOON:
The original Chrome/Steel color I offered with the GG1 Clasp Protectors which seamlessly matched the stainless on the GG1.
- Red
- Yellow
- Blue
- White
- Brown
- Orange
- Carbon Fiber
- Leopard/Zebra Print
And any other Miscellaneous colors/patterns I can get my hands on, just to offer a wide variety and the buyer the option to uniquely express themselves.
And now for the new pictures (Better detail and well-lit pictures to come):
SAME ORIGINAL CLASP PROTECTOR JUST MATCHED WITH FACE SKIN.
And just to show off a little bit of the design aspect of what goes into designing something like this:
Let me know what you think! I cant tell you how happy I am with the final product, it looks awesome in person, these pictures show a great representation, but don't do the final product justice compared to in person, the quality and fit make it look like theres no decal at all, looks like the watch came this way! Very happy!
And again, any and all input appreciated!
Thanks!
Hey, I love what you got going on here, I can beta test for you if you want? I had a protective full body skin on my gear from amazon & it sucked ass! I like the execution of your design & the variety of colors/patterns, would love to have one on my gear =)

Will the protectors be waterproof? If that is what you are asking, they should have no problem being submerged in water, but I have not tested that, once a seal is made between the watch and vinyl protectors it should have no problem with water.
Oops never mind I thought the case was actually a case

A few questions from an overwhelmed geek girl

Hi everyone,
I just bought my new Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and now I'm on to buying accessories. I'm a bit sleep deprived from going down the internet rabbit hole reading reviews and such on the accessories I'm considering (among job stress - woot). I'm not trying to be a schmuck (I swear) by posting this I'm just trying to consolidate my thoughts and get quick input from you awesome people. If the post is deemed inappropriate please nicely message me and I'll delete it. I did try searching for keywords for brands/products before writing but I realize this product is newer so there aren't a million in depth reviews of a million products.
Mainly I bought this tablet because I'm going on a trip out of town and I need to be able to show off my portfolio (I'm a graphic designer) on a few agency interviews in 3 weeks in addition to entertaining myself at the airport and on mass transit on my trip. Otherwise I would have waited until it went on sale or xmas to be honest.
On a day to day basis I would like to do the following with this tablet:
- surf the web
- watch movies
- read
- do light word processing/office/email stuff
- sketch
What I plan on buying I tried to post links to everything but apparently I'm too new a user and had to remove them:
- a case
- screen protector
- bluetooth keyboard
- stylus
- micro sd card
Case:
For a case I'd love to have something very similar to what I currently use on my old Nook Tablet and love Speck FitFolio (speckproducts.com/tablets/nook/fitfolio-for-nook-hd.html) since it has some protection along the edges and closes shut. At the least I want to add some kind of decent edge protection along with a cover that stays close (with magnets, a band, etc). I don't want something as bulky as an otterbox (which doesn't make a case yet for this anyway) and I do want something that covers the front and back.
As far as cases go I've read a ton of reviews on here about the Samsung Book Cover and it seems that most people like it. My main concern is that there is no edge protection and the cost. I've also read about the Poetic Slimbook and that is more mixed but that at least offers some edge protection. Another one that I saw on Amazon and looked interesting is the RooCase Origami case. I'd love some thoughts from you all considering the specific goals for the case.
Screen protector:
I've always been afraid of wet application screen protectors but from the reviews I've read they seem pretty straight forward and perhaps a bit more awesome than the static cling types I've been using. I'm not dead set either way. The Zagg is the one I'm most familiar with but they aren't making one yet for this tablet it seems. The ones I've seen for the tablet are the ArmorSuit Military Shield and the Skinomi® TechSkin . A few others I read about on the XDA forum are the AmFilm and the iLLumiShield.
Bluetooth Keyboard:
Don't need anything fancy but I like that the 2 I've seen and like so far have a cover/case that can be manipulated into a stand.
- Logitech Tablet Keyboard
- Microsoft Wedge Mobile Keyboard
Stylus:
It seems the S Pen won't work on this tablet since it's not a Note series so I want something that's better than the chubby typical stylus I already have. I haven't messed around with these in a long time so it seems I need a capacitive stylus. I will have a screen protector on this so it needs to play nice with it.
I would like to do some drawing and the best app I've seen is the AutoDesk SketchBook app (yes I realize the iPad has so many more awesome drawing apps than Android but I felt for the amount of time I would be spending drawing vs the trade-offs of getting an iPad it wasn't worth it).
The Adonit Jot Pro seems to be popular but will it scratch my screen?
Then there are the other stylus with a thinner, more pen like point that I think I like, such as the Dart Precision Touch but I don't think I can shell out that much for something that isn't mandatory for me to function day to day and the Samsun C Pen but it seems that is getting mixed reviews.
Ok, that's my seriously long post. If you've read this much I salute you and will consider it a mitzvah so thank you!!

I have the Logitech BT keyboard. Although it works perfectly, you have to install batteries. And I always forget to turn it off when I finish, and the batteries are always drained next time I use it. The device needs to turn itself off after awhile. Maybe there is a way I'll have to look into it.
I also heard the Samsung pen for the galaxy S3 works perfectly.
And there's tons of cases and screen protectors on ebay. I'll be ordering the glass one soon from Asia.
Best tablet ever.

I mean the stand alone BT keyboard, not the attached case/keyboard that Logitech sells. Unfortunately they don't sell it for 8.4 inch tab.

Good point about the keyboard battery. The Microsoft one can shut off when you replace the cover but from quick googling it appears the Logitech one has to be shut off.
Do you mean the Samsung C-Pen? The reviews look mixed online so I was curious how other people liked it.

Honestly, the C-Pen is terrible!!!!!!!
I picked up theDart Stylus by Precision Touch a few weeks ago and I have not stopped using this stylus. It has to be the best money I spent on an accessory in a while. Not only is the Dart cool to look at (People are always asking me about it in class) but it writes just like a regular pen and it really looks like my own handwriting.
Finally my notes are readable.
I think you will be really happy with the Dart stylus if you try it out. BTW, it's on sale for $59 right now too in case that helps.
you can pick it up at precisiontouch. com

Tempered Glass screen protector....a must in my opinion. Bit more costly but well worth it. Such as this.
As far as a case....I have this one for my 8.4 and love it. YMMV.

Regarding the cases between the Origami and Poetic slimline LifeHacker did a pretty unbiased review of a few including a few others that might help. Although they are for the Nexus 7, they should be relatively comparable on the features & specs for your Galaxy Tab S 10.5 tablet.
On some of the others I've checked out.
Screen protector you'll definitely want to go a 9H Tempered Glass for the protector. Checking specs for AmFilm and the iLLumiShield, I don't see a hardness level listed, so I can't really say if if it has max level scratch and abrasion resistance, nor for the Skinomi® TechSkin or ArmorSuit Military Shield. Of course the touch screen sensitivity definitely matters too. Even though through checking reviews, the iLLumiShield seems to be the most popular, so with that many happy people, it might be a good one to go with!
Bluetooth keyboard, the Anker® Bluetooth Ultra-Slim Keyboard for Galaxy Tabs seems to be a really decent seller, low in price and high in reviews, so this may also be something to check out.
Not really too familiar with stylus, so perhaps some others could chime in =)

I ended up going with the Skinomi Tech Glass - I've never dealt with these so hopefully I won't screw it up. A few people mentioned building a hinge with tape to help put it on (along with being in a steamy bathroom). If anyone else has any hints about applying this I'm all ears. I've put on screen protector films before but it is stressful. A few of the companies mentioned by you guys don't have protectors for the tab s yet since it's so new.

I ended up going with the Poetic Slimbook and the Logitech keyboard. Hopefully they'll hit the mark.
I appreciate all the help! Mitzvahs all around.
i got this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00L0GOYJQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 from UK i got cover. Screen Protector and a Pen for it. i like it but Screen Protector got damage by shipping so i email them and they send me 3x new one to me lucky me hehe
I have rapoo e6100 keyboard which works just great. Pairing is easy and there is no problem with reconnecting. Despite the fact it's mini keyboard, keys are large enough so typing is comfortable. I didin't want samsung case keyboard or logitech type-s keyboard, because i love samsung book cover and i use keyboard only when prepairing longer pieces of text. As for me set of samsung book cover and rapoo e6100 keyboard works great. I dont't want to change tab s into a bulky laptop...

Samsung's OEM cases

I see a lot of people deciding on what case to buy for the S6 Edge+ and for the most part the discussion is about cases not made by Samsung. I just thought I would start a thread to discuss OEM cases and share my experiences.
This is a beautiful phone and I love to show it off, but I am not going to be able to admire it or let others do so, if it's completely wrapped up in one of the many third party (and often ugly) cases. I am not saying there aren't decent case makers out there but they just change the whole look of the phone in a bad way.
I am aware that Samsung's own cases don't offer the same rugged all encompassing protection as some of the others and if you are using your phone in an environment that puts it great risk of damage then those cases are a better option. I am talking about every day use for which the Samsung ones are perfectly good enough.
So, I have always bought a Samsung case for my Samsung phones and tablets, because they are great quality, they are a perfect fit, offer additional functions and above all they don't spoil the look of the phone. I can also say that they are likely to last a lot longer. I have sold 'used' cases on eBay that are as much as a year old, because they still look as good as new! Sure they cost more (though do shop around) but I think they are worth it.
For the S6 Edge+ I have bought 3 cases. Yes... hear me out!
The GLOSSY Cover
It snaps on to the rear of the phone, protecting the back and corners. It has colour matched corners and doesn't add any bulk to the phone.
This is my every day INDOOR case. I can rest the phone down without worrying about damage to the rear and I can handle the phone easily.
The S-VIEW Cover
Snaps easily on, protects the screen, the rear and the corners. Also as a smart cover it allows you to see vital notifications like text alerts without opening the cover. You can even receive or reject calls. It unlocks the phone if security is set to swipe or none. You can take photo's either by using a camera view through the cover itself, or you can fold it right back and use the standard camera view. It is a very slim case and again does not add bulk and allows the phone's design to still be appreciated.
This is pretty much my every day case and it looks great. I have a gold phone but bought the Black/Blue case, it gives the phone a very classy look.
The FLIP Wallet cover
As above but no screen functions. You can still talk on the phone with the cover closed and it does have a slot inside for a credit card.
Obviously I didn't need to buy this case but this is useful for when you are going out in the evening and just need the phone and a payment card. I got this at a very cheap price so I am happy to own all three!
So if you are looking for a quality case that doesn't add bulk and weight, designed to work perfectly with the phone with added functions and are not using the phone in a hazardous environment then I think you won't be disappointed with these.
.
I'm the same way, I veered away from using cases as much as possible with the Note 4, you buy this expensive premium phone and then wrap it in a clunky plastic case. The s6 edge + is just beautiful, upon buying I picked up a Ringke slim case, looks nice and adds almost no extra bulk, but just takes away what made me love the phone ... the look.
but I've always bought the sview cases with each note purchase, like you said, they are made well, fit perfect and look great. So I grabbed me an Sview wallet (very elegant and classy looking) and I'm actually waiting as we speak for the Mailman to drop it off from amazon ... I figure it's not a case I'll keep on all the time, just something for a night out. Think I'm gonna grab the official clear case or grab the official case from mobile fun that looks like the clear case, but the back isn't clear, you can match the phone, that's the best way to show off the phones look while keeping it protected I think.
Either way I find myself taking my current case off at the office or home as much as I can and just holding that cool metal hardware in my hand lol, this is def a phone that needs a case, but it almost hurts to cover it up.

Couldn't agree more, surprised to see I'm not the only one that looks forward to pulling the case off every "safe" chance I get!
Just got it in about 30 mins ago. Love it!

What colour is your phone? I have a Platinum Gold and bought the black/blue wallet and s-view cases for it. The combination of the two colours is very classy!

Ditto. I see them all day on the cheap for the edge but cant find a good deal for edge plus. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I got the Black/Blue phone, the wallet case is premium.

I got mine on Amazon as a prime member, same with my S6 edge plus clear back case, which is my daily driver.

At this point I honestly think if your buying Samsung phones and the type that uses cases that you're doing yourself and injustice if they aren't Official Samsung cases, I've owned every Note up until the 5th (could resist the S6 Edge+ Beauty) my first ever tablet purchase was a Note 10.1 2014 Edition, Every Gear model, my wife is also a Samsung loyal, S3, S4, S5, Note 4 (currently and waiting for her upgrade to the S6 Edge +) the Note 10.1, the original Gear SmartWatch ... blah blah blah. But I dint see the value in buying an expensive Samsung case until around the Note 3, Got my first s-view and was like "wow!" the phone looked better with the case on it then off of it, and since they haven't let me down. This is how Samsung wants their devices to look and be seen, they spend a lot time and effort to make sure their brand and phone is represented to top quality.
I just recently grabbed my wife a Samsung Tab A 8" and decided I'd like to grab myself an 8" tablet as well, so I got myself an S2 8" .... love it! And keep my Note 10.1 2014 Edition on back up for when I need to bang out a rough sketch for a client. But upon getting the tablet I purchased a portfolio case off amazon for $10 it was a nice case and did the job, but I just turned this sleek incredibly thing light beautiful feeling tablet into a thick bulky brick and killed the whole attractions to it, so after a few days of constantly taking it out of the case to use it so I could feel how nice it was I decided to grab an official Samsung case for it, unbelievable difference! It keeps it so thin and just feels so solid and premium, it feels like a little book or something and the magnetic functionality of it works awesome, all within a slim good looking case, the $60 add on to the already $400 purchase was totally worth it and actually feels like the product isn't complete without the case.
Same with my S6 Edge +, I have the clear back case, which is minimalist but for what it is is very protective to the phone and looks good and compliments the already beautiful phone unlike most cases that hide or ugly a phone up, the wallet case is just a classy, functional, good looking case, like a statement pi3ce. So yeah people complain that their cases are expensive but if you care about the look of your tech as much as the tech itself it's money well spent.
Lol at least this is all my opinion.
The clear view cover is fairly minimalist, but has reduced functionality over the windowed samsung flip case. It has the side bonus of finding a way to scratch your screen as many users have reported.
I generally don't love flip cases as the flipped portion is always in the way, but I gave it a try.
Nope! As scratches started to appear here and there I know I did not cause - it came off asap.

This is bizarre. I have been using both flip cases for several months now and trust me I have looked very hard but don't see any scratches whatsoever.

I think the problem is with the clear view case scratching the side of the screen, not the wallet cases.
I had the clear view case for my Edge before I gave it for the plus, and indeed it scratched my screen, and not on the edges but in the middle..Small but visible, I'm 100% sure it was made from the case.. At first I was wondering when and how did this happened since I was very careful with it! Then I learned about the issue and it all made sense..
This is the only cover case I'm willing to put to cover this beauty, but I'm afraid to purchase it again for the plus model I have now, because of this issue I had.. Many say the issue has been fixed since Sammy was aware of it from the smaller model (despite not admitting it), but then again some people are still reporting of scratches with this model too!
So at least for now I'm keeping it with the clear gold case from Sammy to protect the back of the phone, till I find a respectable sapphire glass
