OC to 1.6, damn, that's impressive. My only concern is, how will this affect the already-present heating problem on the A6K?
Cheers and keep up the awesome work :highfive:

Brother, I think you are on the wrong planet. Here, Lenovo a6k doesn't get heated up. It only happens if you are playing some high graphics game for more than one hour. In normal usage, its cold, like ice. And, even then, its not much, unlike other phones, which you can't even hold in your hands once they get hot.

Check in your battery stats for "mediaserver" thing. Thats the real culprit. Eats up all the battery and makes the phone hot all the time.

Regardless of how much or what is running, a device must keep optimal temperatures at all times. The heating problem is extremely real, and pretty damn annoying.

Tell me how much battery has been consumed by "mediaserver". And your rom too, please..
Edit: I'll start a poll here. Then you can see how many are having heating problems :silly:

That doesn't seem normal with A6K. Even with OC mine goes around 60 at most. In this I agree with sasukay check mediaserver because its the only thing that takes the temperature this high

well i know you people hate me but i never care i am myself using this kernel.

This kernel is ok No reboots or things like this. It's more like a stock kernel with improvments But I can see the difference between Phoneix (overclocked) and a non-overclocked kernel. (This is in first 5 min of using )
EDIT: I don't know what happening but after 5 min the phone begins run very smooth and amlost fast as with Phoneix kernel
Good job! ^_^

Try a clean install and see if it's happening again
i test this kernel no bug for me
good for performance without overheating:good:

Thank you for this fan fantastic Room and Kernel!
i have 1 question: I am on Cm-11 beta 4 For GT-S7392 + Over clocked 2.4 GHZ kernel, do i need to change the governor to perfomance? or any other change on kernel settings?
ps. I just use the phone for UBER and car navigation.
@androidlover5842
Hey man, I work on different devices (gs4, note3) but am a HUGE streaming enthusiast. From the looks of your commits, the jump to 3.5 didn't seem to require too much fixing (compared to service release patches which are always a hassle). Out of curiosity, what made you stop at 3.5? I'm guessing arch-specific stuff as it needs a lot of updating between 3.4 and 3.10. Either way, very impressive project my friend!

Ok I'll try that. One question: is it ok to flash just the kernel, without re-flashing the rom? Can I roll back to the old one without re-flashing everything?

yes you can make a copy of any kernel zip like m99 kernel
now extract that zip in m99 folder you can create m99 folder
you find two things boot.img and system folder in m99 folder
open rom.zip using mixplorer on phone or 7z on pc
copy/extract boo.img and system/lib/modules to any folder
now replace the boot.img and modules folder in m99 folder
now zip the ( meta-inf system boot.img ) into archive and done
you make flashble old kernel zip to
go back old kernel flash this zip
How to know the current clockspeed in my phone? In settings>performance>processor it is still 999 max cpu frequency

Thanks for the kernel. Its excellent.
As a suggestion you can add adreno idler, reduce the lower limit of the CPU frequency and undervolt (if possible) to improve battery.

Guyz i'm in a big problem now..I was on EUI 5.9.020s i flashed qassam kernel..phone booted without any errors..i tried DT2W it failed so i thought i was not rooted (having SuperSu app in a folder and forgotten about it) i reflashed Supersu and then my phone is stucked on "LeEco Boot Logo" I tried to reflash by wiping all partitions bt it says "unable to wipe boot unknown file system emmc"...Still i reflashed ROM and it stucks at LeEco boot screen..
EDIT: I also tried EUI 5.9.219s and it said "package is for "le_s2_ww" and urs is s2
FIX:
Thx guyz...I fixed the issue by myself..what I did was:
1) removed boot from twrp by rishabh Rao from fastboot
2) removed recovery from fastboot
3) flashed twrp Chinese recovery
4) then from Chinese recovery flashed Eui 5.8.019s
And Voila..!!!! Phone got to it's working state...!!!
Sir great to see a custom kernel finally...
And i have a request....Please never implement FAUX sound ...

Thanks Yo so Much Bro.
@ZawZaw How did you get process reclaim working properly. Many other kernel devs have abandoned it because it caused a race condition in the kernel. Just curiosity. I've got much respect for you and I'm glad you were able to build a kernel. It's nice to see developers continue to grow and progress. Keep up the amazing work.
f2fs
kernel does not boot with f2fs data and cache, not even with data only it does not boot. This was used with jolla's twrp and pure nexus rom as base, can confirm other kernels like franco and jolla booted up and worked fine with data and cache formatted to f2fs, if you can take a look at that? thanks.

Hey you are back with your own kernel!
Nice!
But there are an "errors" in your description:
-you invert last update and created date (22and 21)
But thanks a lot!
Now I think the best you can do is an all in one with all your work (so your customs roms in one, your sound mods, your substratum theme, your fonts and finally your kernel) ?
Good job bro!
PS: the first thing that people are waiting for a custom kernel for our device is battery as our device is quick enough even runing on low frequencies with the governor set on conservative and scheduler set on noop so yes as I say more juice more fun.

Guy on this device runing on lower frequencies don't save more battery as it runs on same voltages(see franco kernel thread) and overclocking?! You feel that your device is runing slow ?! Really I don't trust you...
No features of a kernel on nexus 5x are more battery but not by underclocking.

Yes better battery life is welcome but underclocking to 302 GHz don't save any battery.
But optimisation of performance are not really needed.

SmartPack [Kernel] project for LOS-14.1 [G901F] / [G906S/K/L]

This project is now maintained by @wilmsn. The new thread can be found here.
/* Introduction */
I haven’t found any suitable kernel that supports Lineage-OS 14.1 (and likely other aosp nougat ROMs) for these variants of S5 though many custom kernels are available for many other devices with the same APQ8084 chipset (e.g.: shamu). So, I made one by simply picking a lot of good features from other existing APQ8084 kernels. All the credits go to many developers those create several kernels for this platform and eventually made my job very easy. Here I’m sharing the output of my work and hope you guys like this.
/* DISCLAIMER!! */

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: Is this kernel compatible with ROM(s) a/b/c?
Ans: I do not know. All of my kernels are based off and tested only on Lineage-OS. However, if your ROM(s) a/b/c are based on Lineage-OS (and uses the same kernel source code), it will most probably work
Q2: Is this kernel better than stock/‘xyz’ kernel(s)?
Ans: Regarding stock, Yes, It should be better in many aspects (Otherwise it will never been published). Regarding ‘xyz’ kernels, I don’t know. I even may not used your mentioned ‘xyz’ kernels.
Q3: How about performance/SOT?
Ans: Since SOT, performance etc. are largely based on several factors such as ROM, installed apps etc. No one else can exactly predict the performance/SOT of your mobile. So, you should test and find out that by yourself.
Q4: Can you tell me the best settings for performance/SOT?
Ans:Again, that depends on several factors. I can only say my favorite settings that gives me best results in my favorite ROM.
Q5: Could you add feature x and y to your kernel?
Ans: Not sure. It depends on the feature and the capability of device. Anyway, I’m happy to check and add, if possible, any useful features (unless it is too experimental or dangerous) to my kernel. Please give your suggestions in the official xda thread.
Q6: When will you release a new version of this kernel?
Ans: New updates will arrive whenever I have something new to present in-front of you (such as I managed to add new useful features, or fix some existing issues or along with each LOS release with some changes in the kernel source code).
Q7: I found a bug, what do I do?
Ans: Please provide as much information as possible (such as what feature, what didn\'t work, screenshots or logcat if possible) and post in the xda thread.[/hide]
Please also note:
Guys... I'm pretty new to this device (and in fact to android development itself). So, it is very likely that I break some already available stuffs. If you found so, please let me know.
1. Please make sure to disable mpdecission if you decided to enable other hotplus (only one hotplug at a time).
2. Do not use any CPU hotplug while using zzmove cpufreq governor (since zzmove uses its own hot-plugging profiles).
3. Do not use Adreno_Idler and Simple_GPU algorithm together (that will likely make issues).

Thanks for the reply and nice to know that it is working.
Btw, it could be nice if you test everything and made a detailed review. It will be useful for me to make it better as well as other users. I really like to know its status from an SM-G901F user (since I only own SM-G906S)... Thanks, anyway, for the early testing...
@sunilpaulmathew, right now im using a lg g6 so for now i will test how is the drain battery with stock kernel of RR and then with yours.
so actually wich settings i should let on in the phone for the standby test ? or wich you suggest me.
Honestly, I do not know since it is difficult for me to test the standby time due to my building and flashing habit
However, I'm presently satisfied with 1. cpugreq (nightmare), 2. cpu hotplug (intelli_plug), 3. undervolted (up to -50), 4. TCP algo (westwood) and 5. All other available features like fastcharge, sound control etc. enabled...

exactly what i tough so i do have time to try this, im waiting for phone to charge fully (now 55%), i will set 1. cpugreq (nightmare), and turn on wifi, bluetooth, gps, and in airplane mode bc i dont have sim for the phone.
well i dont have many apps installed ,so i will do every test with exactly same settings and apps
workload
Thank you for your Kernel,
The fist Look seems to be good, the CPU workload shows 3 Cores are OFF (kernel adiutor), one by 50% by default LOS with no Apps in the Background, with the settings you are posted.
Thank you for the the first costum kernel for sm-g901f on LOS 14.1.
best regards
so i did the "test" with your kernel, with the default kernel configurations, wifi, bluethoot, gps in high accuracy, full brightness, and youtube all the time with video playng, so it gives me 4 hours, wich i think is just exelent thinking its a old battery.
its a really nice work man, about the fast charge, its nice, i charged it with everithing, but unfortunately i cant say how fast its yet

Thanks for the really detailed review... As per its source code, it only increases the USB charging speed to 900mA and nothing else. Probably you can try ampere to test the charging speed. Btw, I hope more people test this kernel soon.
Testing now, thank you ! My phone g906s
i did try with ampere, im testing it in norway, and actually without any modification, and right cable i get 1.200 mA

Thank you very much friends. Was busy with my klte kernel. I'll probably push an updated version tomorrow, if everything goes as expected.
Btw, anybody tested the sound control (Kernel Auditor ---> Sound)? Is it worth?
Thanks in advance...
I have tried to use the sound option, however it crashes my device. I can make some logs later if that's helpfull.

I'm sure there's something wrong at your os level or probably you are trying to run high end games on an entry level device and not kernel related as I use it too..played a game with it and I'm always watching the frequency scalings like a police ..plus no such problem confirmed from testers
