Tap to wake up and proximity sensor. - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I assume it's the double tap to wake function that trips while the phone is in my pocket. I know I could disable the dt2w and reenable but that's kind of a hassle. Any way I could improve on the pocket detection/proximity without root?

Disable Proximity Sensor?

Is there any way to disable the screen automatically turning off during a call (across ROMs), or completely disable the proximity sensor at a system level?
I cracked my phone screen directly over the sensor and it's interfering with my ability to use the keypad during calls.
Thank you!

It would probably be easier to get an app that switches the screen timeout to never when using a particular app. Just do a search in the Play store for "keep screen on". I use an app like "tasker" for other things, but I also use it to keep my screen on when using the dialer.

Request "Knock On" app to turn on display (similar to LG devices)

Hello! I'm searching for an app that allows me to wake up the GS7's display through "knock on" mode like LG's device.
On playstore there are so many apps that allow us, through double tap, to turn on the screen and unlock the device directly . I don't search this type of apps because they unlock the lockscreen directly, so they are incompatible with the stock fingerprint lockscreen . I would therefore like to know if there is an app that, using the double tap, simply allows to turn on the GS7's display on the lockscreen of that, allowing us, then, to unlock the phone normally with our fingerprint .
Thank you very much for helping.
RIP battery life though lol

In Settings, Accessibility > Dexterity & Interaction > Easy screen on > switch on.
It's not double tap, but uses the proximity sensor to turn screen on by waving an object or your hand over it.
Since it's a built-in option, it uses only 1-2% battery life.
Works for me

There must be one! I'm not rooted. So I don't know if it works..
If the fingerprint reader doesn't consume much energy I would love a tap to wake for it. I guess the nexus 6p does this?
You are looking for a feature that hardware must support it and needs kernel level development.
Any software solution you find to do it is gonna need a constant wakelock and definitely is going to kill your battery in a few hours.

thanks for that tip :good:
Try glance plus in Play store. You can set it to double tap to wake or even using fingerprint to unlock. The best app IMO.

Double tap to wake without root

Hey everyone,
Are there any current methods to add 'double tap to wake' that is used on LG phones? My phone is unrooted, and I could only find rooted methods or some apps that completely kill your battery.
I'm running a 5.1.1 on a S6 Active
Thanks

AFAIK, to do double-tap to wake without using a lot of battery life requires hardware support, the S6 does not have this. You can configure the touch sensor to wake the CPU, but this will happen every time the screen is touched (including in pocket) as there is no way to tell the touch controller to wait for 2 "taps". So no, no way to do this without root, and no way even with root to make this a good thing battery wise.
Try the KnockOn app. From the app description: "If you use the double tap to wake feature the app will display a black screen, so the screen is actually on."

There's Air wake/Easy Screen On in Accessibility -> Dexterity and Interaction in Settings! The screen will wake up whenever something hovers over the proximity sensor at top left. I can confirm that its battery usage is negligible!

How to unlock screen without having to press the power button?

is there any way to unlock the phone without pressing the power button or double tap to wake? it's like just rest your finger in the sensor and the screen unlocks.
This behaviour is currently in HaoZeke's LineageOS. I'm looking for a way to disable it since it will unlock my phone while putting it in my pocket... Wanna trade ?

I use a xposed module for that, [LL-MM]Enable Ambient Display - Xposed. Just install it and enable the option Activate doze with proximity sensor.
When you get the mobile out of your pocket, will turn on the display and it would be ready to use the FP reader.

That would drain the battery. Is there any way without ambient display?

It doesn't cause battery drain, my battery duration is almost the same with that module enabled.

Screen activation

I'm new to MIUI. For the love of god, can someone tell me how to stop the screen seemingly turning on at random when I move the phone? Wake on lift is off.

That should of sorted it.
Only other ways to wake the screen would be DT2W, and notifications.

Thanks. It's not the only problem I've found so far with 10.0.8.0. Can I safely update without affecting the unlock countdown which I've already started?

Yeah for some reason the double tap is super sensitive and will wake the screen in ur pocket too. I've had to disable both and then I don't have an issue. I also don't use ambient display or wake screen for notification

I have DT2W and RTW both turned off, and the thing is still waking up every time I breathe near it.
It appears to be the fingerprint sensor, the slightest of touches is enough to turn on the screen, even though I don't have a screen lock on.
