Is this signal status normal or tweaked? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

I mess with the build prop and csc and sales/default/mps data settings/prl/apn anything to do with network alot and usually never do anything better then making a already bad connection (sprint) worse (its possible) but after who knows how many different things ive done now but today I hotspotted to my tv while using kodi on my phone and upnp from kodi to play on the tv all without lag, buffering or anything you may find while simply going to google.com normally. So i got a few apps and the responses have me wondering if Ive done something beneficial finally? Its signalspy and signalcheck pro.

I always find myself triple checking any pictures after i upload mostly screenshots making sure theres nothing id be ashamed of! LOL. im good on these :good: dont judge! I triple check ones you all post too and youll see some of the craziest things, in any pics posted online, in the corners or background that you know they for sure did not see when they uploaded it (dirty socks or skidmarked undies on floor/toe fungal/internet tab of ww.explicit.. etc). Unrelated completely but had to tell someone cuz yea im that guy that spends countless time on phone settings and dont get out much so yall are it. :cyclops:

Fuze Times Out on Data Connection

Half the time when I try to go to a website the Fuze just times out. Loads forever and times out.
When it doesn't time out, it's slow as molasses.
I can throw my SIM in either of my other two 3G phones, sitting in the exact same spot, and everything flows just fine.
Anyone else having this issue?
I'm about ready to take this back, after months of waiting for its release, because the data connection is so unreliable.
have you tried tweaking it and maybe flash to another rom?
or maybe you just have a lemon. Get it exchanged and see if problem persists.

Have already returned it for a different one. Exact same issue. Actually I've posted a lot of details about this, if you look at my other posts.
Many others are having this same issue. Many others in the threads on here, like the HSDPA / 3G Fuze threads. Here's a guy on ATT forums with the exact same symptoms as me: http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/board/message?board.id=cingular&thread.id=108522
I do not want to flash to a different ROM because I saw someone in another thread post that they tried flashing back to the stock ATT ROM and it didn't work. Haven't seen anyone post saying that it DOES work for this specific phone to the ATT ROM.
If it was just "kinda slow" I would mess with tweaks and other ROMs, but the fact that it's literally unusable makes me want to just give up and possibly re-buy the phone if and when a REAL fix for it comes along.
The frustrating thing is it seems like about half people are getting awesome speeds on this phone, and the other half are getting abysmal, unusable speeds. I've seen a lot of posts on here of people saying they're just returning the Fuze as it's useless. I'm so disappointed, I really wanted this phone bad.
I'm sorry to hear that. I'm actually on my second Fuze right now (returned the first one for some stupid reason). Both phones had around the same speed. It's not stellar, but at least it's not doing terribly worse than my friend's iphone 3g, which I use as a comparison cuz we all know they're the connection hoggers.
Have you tried calling AT&T tech support? They've been extremely helpful with some of my questions.
Lastly, why not just flash it? May people are having a bit of a problem getting stock ROM to work after flashing it back, but if you're going to exchange it, who said the stock ROM has to work flawlessly? Besides, someone will eventually find a way to fully re-flash stock ROM soon, not that I'd ever understand why anyone would want to do that aside for warranty purposes.
I would bring your phone to AT&T store, talk to the manager (chances are someone working there also has a Fuze). Tell them your problem and ask them to do a comparison. Cuz right now I can only think of two possibilities:
1) you got 2 lemons in a row
2) Stock ROM really sucks
Good luck
Thanks man. I might just try a flash and see. I have not called tech support yet even though I've been thinking about doing that for days, because it's such a hair pulling experience, i just hate going through the phone systems and then getting people who don't have a clue what your'e talking about.
I did email the manager of the store, mainly about a different issue I had with the process and the associate (who lied to my face repeatedly, but i wont go into details) and mentioned the problems i'm having with my phone and the fact that the replacement is the same way.
I also live in OC (southern cal) and have heard others are having issues w 3G in general here. However the fact remains that my other two 3G phones work perfectly for me.

Possible to disable AMR-HR Codec?

I've searched and seen this discussed about a few other phones, but it doesn't look like there's been any luck with any HTC GSM phone, but I thought I would pose the question to see if anyone can figure it out.
As you may know, AT&T uses the AMR-HR (Half-Rate) codec in some areas with Edge, which can sound like crap in low service areas.
It would be really useful, and probably make a lot of people happy, if there was a way to force this phone to use the AMR-FR (Full-Rate) codec.
Most devices this is a simple bitmask, this is one of the things on my list for WinMo devices, so far in the several I have messed with I haven't figured it out.

Any updates on this?
I would be extremely happy if you figured it out and it improved my call quality. I would definitely throw some money your way!
I've identified several possibilities, but what I haven't found is how to identify the current codec in use. I need a reliable, repeatable way to do that before I can start flipping bits, my ear isn't reliable enough
You can use FieldTest
Go to the 2nd group (AMR).
Minimize that, then make a call.
Then go back into FieldTest (while still connected to the call), mine shows AMR-HR (I don't know what it shows for FR since I'm not in an area that supports it, but I'm guessing AMR-FR).
Doh, i'm a bonehead! I never switched to GSM when I checked there, so it was never reporting any values at all, being in WCDMA.. awesome, let's get this party started
Woohoo, can't wait!!!

tether to psp go

ok i am about to get a psp go and was wondering if anybody on here knows if the go well connect via wifi tether or theres some other way to possibly get it to connect to it if it doesnt....
edit: ok apparentaly the go can connect to the your connect via bluetooth when i get my go tomorrow ill test it out and see in case this sparks anybodys curiosity
a quick google search later

but... it just takes a second to search,it takes a lifetime to get over being flamed for being a noob.

i'm sorry, i wasn't flaming you. some guys on here get pretty rough about the search feature built into site.
from the looks of that thread it may be possible to do it by bluetooth maybe... if i had a psp go i would also be interested in figuring this out
well im getting a go tomorrow so ill test it out and let ya know if it doesnt snow a foot here like they say it is and i get stuck in my house that would be lame...
From my experiences I couldn't get mine to connect. They recognized each other but I could never get the data flowing. I think pda net might work if you install 2.1
I think you could manually set up the connection by choosing ad-hoc in the network settings.
At least in 3.01... lol I havent had a PSP in ages.
well i didnt end up getting it today snowing like crazy and stuck at my house but i already got pda net ive also seen this app called tetherblu im gunna try that out to when im able to get out of the house of course...
I don't see why it wouldn;t work via regular wifi but I've honestly never tried. I may ave to go grab my psp 2000 and check it out now.
ad hoc wifi isnt supported (or something like that) by the psp. same thing goes for the ds to my knowledge. i think the best bet is to get it working through bluetooth. I think wireless tether has an option to go through bluetooth as well that you can try. like i said i could never get them to connect to have data working but i could get them to recognize and almost pair. One thing id suggest though is taking a peek through the psn store at what games are downloadable cause I ended up being dissapointed by it since games like crisis core isnt up on there yet. but thats just my opinion.
ive checked out the psn store people r jus really close now to unlocking its full capabiltys if ya know what i mean so thts my main reason and the fact internal mem. is just so much more convieant
where are you getting your news on CFW coming out for pspgo?
theres actually one out put the assholes refuse to release it to the public
because somehow we've angered them or sumthing
with previous releases im not really sure
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lVCV1LGHiA (vid of it)
but ive heard there is quite a few other people working on the project and somebody (datel) i think talked about how we could cfw on the go without even hackin it but i havent heard any new news on that
Ivw tried using tether to go online on my palm pre and it never recognizes it is there a way to do it.
supposedly the psp go not the 1x 2x 3x has bluetooth and can make a connection thru that but alas i am stuck snowed in at my house and cant go get me a go but once i am actually able to get out of my house im getting one so ill update soon as that happens
Just use Wifi tether and select Bluetooth PAN instead of WiFi. Should work.
i was wondering if the current bluetooth issues the hero has would affect this in anyway i just got the go downloading a game currently from pc will try after thats finished
I can confirm that wifi tether does not work with the psp go. It does not support ad hoc wireless networking. I haven't tried bluetooth tether, but I'll give it a go.
it doesnt work itll pair and connect to your device but we need an app that enables bluetooth dun tethering not pan theres some kind of difference and the go only supports dun

No Reason not to root and remove ATT bloatware and enable sideloading

Well I'm writing this because of the complaints of lagginess and/or crap from AT&T.
While I'm not a dev genius, I do know my way around iPhone OS and WM and Android is coming pretty naturally to me. IF YOU JUST READ THREE THREADS YOU CAN HAVE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PHONE. There. I said it.
Seriously, if you are complaining about it being laggy, its because the ATT crapware likes to turn on for no reason in the background. REMOVE it!
Install Titanium Backup, allow it to update and then go to manage and uninstall ONLY ATT APPS. don't get rid of google apps or **** goes crazy
If you're complaining about not being able to install LauncherPro or easytheter, learn how to sideload! Seriously, you can use adb and droid explorer if you'd like (really simple) or you can edit ONE LINE in your database and get it directly on your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728121
If you're wondering how to do all this, just ROOT. It takes 30 seconds, it's longer to reboot the phone than to root it. Just get the update, it does absolutely nothing to your phone, just installs superuser.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=725555
I'm just getting pissed because this is supposed to be a poweruser site and lots people here are just bickering about things when they could simply fix them.
I know my account doesn't have many posts, but I've been around (Didn't feel like keeping TyTNic_Dev was fitting considering I haven't had the TyTN for about 4 years now) And while I'll try and contribute what I can, IMO this subforum would be alot cleaner if everyone stopped complaining and kept everything relevent.
Talking about how you "hate the phone, its so laggy need to go back to iPhone" or just "don't understand what all the fuss about Android is" just GTFO, or leach off everyones contributions. It really drags the thread down when people have all that hate and negativity. Especially when a few tweaks and the phone runs like a dream.
I've rooted, enabled sideload, and removed bloatware, as soon as I get all the kinks in my flash plugin, I'll have a phone that is as powerful (or even better) than anything else currently on the market. I suggest you do the same, then you'll probably be singing its praises as well.
ok..phew..
/rant
so yeah, root and fix the phone. you'll be glad you did
Good post. Just to help people maybe throw some links where u say to do each mod.

I dont think this is true. I've never once seen it just start itself up.
But yes, rooting is easy, but there's not a whole bunch of reason to do it quite yet.
Edit- there's also not much reason to NOT do it either.
I agree with you 100%. Like yoursef, im not one to have tons of replies, but ive been following XDA since my Tilt (not tilt 2). I think the issue is that we have a lot of new followers (welcome!) coming over from the Iphone and they are not use to what this board is all about. These arent apps you just install, this is software development/enhancements all in one place. Hopefully when the WIKI is back up (or created rather), there can be a nice "how to" section for everyone to reference.

I just restarted my phone, and there was a huge list of apps that were running right off of startup. A lot were at&t (naviagtor, ect.) and some were not.
EDIT- I know a lot of people are talking abut the lag due to the samsung UI, but I really dont care about the live wallpapers and I have a regular background so I dont get any lag at all. I am excited about the 2.2 update to gain the speed and access to the other 256mb or RAM. That alone will make this device a great phone. I am really enjoying android verses my WiMo devices (tilt 2 was the latest).

If that's true then this is a good reason to do so but I haven't seen that happen I guess.
After I instaled task manager I noticed most att apps would start on there own. I was always looking at what was running to try and save my batt.
Ive never hit the att apps at all since I had phone. After rooting and removing att crap nothing tuns in background execpt what I open.

happens to me all the time. random AT&T crap will start on its own
Thanks guys, yeah whenever you start ANY navigator app, att navi will start (its triggered by the gps starting) when you start any music player att music starts (it is triggered by com.google.music(sic))
these little things can be avoided and lets be honest, the stock touchwiz music player is really good. I have copilot so no reason to pay att. Navigation is a top notch free gps too.
the only one I could see is maybe you like mobitv, that is actually pretty decent of an app, but things like allsport, where, ypmobile, all of these can be accomplished using the browser.
I'll edit the post to include the links, but I just feel like when I'd be working on code or something, if someone was whining it wouldn't motivate me.. Why would I wanna program the Captivate (apart form sheer love) for people who'd just complain you know?
I'm messing around with the sdk and what not and I just got me a second Captivate so i'll be doing all sorts of tests to see what it'll take to get stock froyo on it, but i'm still a novice so i'll keep updating everyone and hopefully we can get 2.2 as a community
@V DidDy 210 I like your attitude. I hope more devs like you come around to the captivate scene as I would and the community as well would greatly appreciate it. I know I will. I will try my best to contribute and help with any interesting development on this device.
I have rooted and removed the AT&T and many of the Samsung apps, but that didn't really change anything. If it were just those then owners of the International versions of the Galaxy S wouldn't be having the same issues. I think the problem is much more than AT&T bloatware.

Being a running process and actually consuming resources are two different things and I'm not seeing anything worth making a big deal about since they are just sitting in memory.

What is your problem? Is it laggy? I haven't noticed any lag on mine, I've removed the bloat (all of it) rooted (obviously) added sideloading, installed flash 10 and check all the dbs for any scripts that might still be activating unnecessary scripts.
I haven't found any, and unless I actively run something (widgets or apps) nothing is running on its own. Only the most rudimentary of services run in the background (unless I tell something to) and my phone is 99% lag free. It is laggy at startup while it is parsing through my media files and it is laggy when I have a bunch of apps open (I'm talking around 16-17) otherwise in day to day operation (browsing, phone calls, music listening, watching movies while on the treadmill, etc.) I have no problems.
I'll try and help you, just need more info on whats going on

This is true, but while they are running there they still consume even the smallest amounts of usable memory...unless you like the ATT apps there isn't any real reason to keep them. Even if it uses 1kb of ram...its still 1kb of ram wasted
Excellent post but more importantly.... it seems to be a very necessary post. I loved the site when I had my Hermes, Kaiser, Touch, and other HTC devices ~2006 - 2008 but now that I came back with my Android device, it definitely seems like the tone has changed.
My question its are we all having the same problem? I experience lag, unresponsive touch due to lag also a black screen that hangs when you open a app. If so, I'm rooting right now. Please some one confirm. BTW this its a universal problem with all Samsung galaxy s phone. So I'm inclined to think its the firmware not the att bloatware.

question about radio updates and a flashed to boost phone

ok so im a little new to the whole android thing but i managed to get my phone changed to boost..Im wondering now if i update the radio will it kill my change or since i have already gotten it on the network if it will be ok. im at radio version 1.07.00.1129 and i see there is an update to 1.08. thank you for your help.
It shouldn't. To be quite honest with you I didn't notice much of a difference between 1.07 and 1.08.
Also, could you tell us how you got your phone flashed to Boost? What did the guy do? What were you missing when you were trying to flash it?
Please tell us so we can put this info in the Shift Boost thread.
I actually did notice a huge difference in reception quality from .07 to .08. I also flashed the new WiMax Radio. The biggest difference was in 3G. Went from a usual -81dBm, to an average -72dBm.
I'm not quite sure what he did cause he used a program that blanked out my monitor when he was about to do it. I kow sounds fishy but I used my laptop so there was no issues with passwords or hacks to accouts. Used a program called teamviewer. All I know is he hbelped out a lot and I'm now typing this from the shift

Yeah he basically logged in via remote desktop (teamviewer) to your computer, blacked your screen so you couldn't see what he was doing, he probably did most of the stuff that's in the tutorials and called boost mobile with your old account number.
http://www.jkdigitech.com/remoteactivationtype1.htm
I already had setup on boost so i dont think he did that..i did most of the tut but couldnt get the esn zeroed out. i got the meid though...maybe it was some sort of lock. anyways nobody seen any changes with the 07 to 08 cause i read a few pages of random other forums that was about 50% good and 50 percent didnt do a thing.
