DISCONTINUED [Note 5 Port][5.1.1][05/24/16][G900V] Norma_Note5Port_V3.44_VZW - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Android Development

This Is Important:
This is an aroma installer so you must use TWRP or Flashfire V31 and above. You will have the option in aroma installer to choose your type of install, Locked Bootloaders or Unlocked Bootloaders. The LockScreen will work on both locked and unlocked bootloaders. If you do not have unlocked bootloaders then do not wipe the dalvik cache or you will get Sytem UI FC. If you want to run xposed on locked bootloader you will have to disable stock lockscreen by setting lockscreen type to none. Then you will have to download a third part lockscreen app. Do this before you install xposed or wipe the dalvik cache. Stock MMS requires some mods to get working. Hangouts MMS works fine.

HOW TO FLASH TWRP UNLOCKED BOOTLOADERS
Download the Rom from Download Link & put it on your device.
1..Boot to recovery and choose (for TWRP): Wipe --> Advanced Wipe --> Dalvik, System, Data and Cache. Then Swipe.
2..Now choose Install and search where you put the Rom.
3..Tap on it and swipe. Choose Unlocked Bootloader in aroma installer Wait until it install the Rom.
4..Reboot and wait that it complete the first boot: It takes around 12 minutes!
5..Enjoy the Rom.

Download the Rom from Download Link & put it on your device.
1..Open FlashFire Choose Add Flash Zip or OTA
2..Now choose Install and search where you put the Rom.
3..Tap on it. Leave default box checked to mount system click the ok check mark at top

Or you can flash this MMS_Fix.zip But it may not theme properly. After you flash you will have to goto Applications and clear data on Messages
THE BELOW ZIPS ONLY PERTAIN TO PEOPLE WITH LOCKED BOOTLOADERS
The locked bootloader install will install a different SecSettings.apk which will allow lockscreen swipe and disable from settings and also let you edit apns. You can still access rom control from the apps. If your running verizon sim and dont need access to apn editing then you can flash this zip which will put the Secsettings back in the rom, that has the autostart, app opps, led modding and a few other options but once flashed you can not edit apns you can add new ones but you can not edit existing ones. The swipe lockscreen and disable option should still work from settings apk

If your locked bootloader and need to wipe dalvik cache flash below zip right after you wipe and this will keep lockscreen working

Using for Locked Bootloaders btw. So far 10/10 experience.

Jrkruse you are the man one of the best developers out there! I'm about to flash this as I was on a Android M AOSP 6.0.1 rom but I actually miss Touchwiz especially for my Gear S Verizon hurry up with Android M already lol

For those with Locked Bootloader, Can Safestrap still work on this ROM? And If So....what Kernel would one flash to go back to ROM once done using Safestrap? Can you enlighten us more on what Kernel this ROM uses/needs and if the standalone kernel is Safestrap flashable?
I already understand that the ROM itself uses AROMA installer and will need FlashFire/TWRP to flash....I'm just curious about the Kernel and SafeStrap AFTER the ROM is up and running. Well....if I had to guess, Locked Bootloaders will still be using/running BP1 Firmware/Kernel. I just wanted confirmation on that.
Separate Issue:
Red Text in OP says "disable stock lockscreen by setting lockscreen type to none". Unfortunately, "None" is completely greyed out and it says "Turned off by administrator, encryption policy or credential storage". This is how it was from a fresh ROM flash of this. Please help

Very nice instructions, installer does have option to keep or wipe data, great option. Everything went super smooth. Jrkruse, you are the best of the best and we all appreciated to have you supporting our device. I dont think I will need another phone for the next 2,3 years!!!Again thank you, think you and think you. Will report back with performane and battery life.

Love this rom just sucks I had to downgrade to Lollipop from M to get my Gear S to work. Wish someone would port a TW Android M rom for our S5 but I guess we have to wait until Verizon releases it.... a tiny problem I have with the rom is the super dated Android security patch but I guess that's very minor

Anyone figure out how to truly disable the LockScreen though? That option seems greyed out. jrkruse says we have to disable the damn thing to install Xposed without getting FC's on locked bootloader.....but we can't even disable the thing. Can't install xposed without figuring this out.
Is there some sort of LockScreen Fix we need to Flash to disable lockscreen? I'm at a total loss here and really need xposed on this ROM if I'm gonna use it.

Any chance we can get a dump of the removed apks? Specifically looking for mirrorlink

If it helps add any information, My phone also rebooted at the screen, but only once. After that, it was fine. I noticed this was repeatable behavior as well. For other reasons I had to re-install this ROM. Same thing happened on my 2nd install of the ROM. After that first reboot on the welcome screen, everything was good and I could continue.

No, I did not....but like I said, my phone did reboot ONCE (just once) at the exact same screen you are getting a Bootloop on.

Not so sure it was luck either. I've installed this exact ROM 3 times now (been playing with stuff).......and see the exact same thing happen. Only reboots once at that Welcome screen each time I fresh install this ROM. Everything else is good.
I'm still struggling getting the damn LockScreen disabled lol

After the first boot, if you have problem with Wifi: remove / data / misc / wifi and reboot (By Quarx). Here I had no problems with the wifi connection, has greatly improved. I'm using there one day and so far got no falls or even delay in seeking networks. Wifi connection is perfect and it was not necessary to remove the folder for me!
If you want, Older versions search the internet
NOTE: To get a better experience, no carry bugs or something other ROMS, We recommend that you come from a stable ROM, version 2.3 (If possible Factory). Taking this approach you can prevent bugs from migrating to other versions are. Recommended that you make a backup before, if not want to lose your files. I am not responsible for anyone's machine. Just continue the installation process below if your phone is routed and installed with recovery!
1nd. Unplug the appliance, please recovery mode. When in recovery -> Custom recovery and make Wipes Correspondents ("Wipe data / factory reset" -> "Wipe cache partition" -> "Wipe Dalvik cache")
2nd. Now you can select the option "install zip from SD card". Then select "Chose zip from SD card". Choose the rom you downloaded and will start the installation. Expect to finish the installation.
3rd. In the following section make the same case number "2" more now with the "Gapps" (Google Apps). Wait again to finish the installation.
4th. Go back to the main menu, select to clean "wipe cache partition" then Advanced "Wipe Dalvik cache".
Once this is done and can go back to the start menu, selecting "+ + gooback"
And by the end select "Reboot System Now".
Ready your rom has just been installed, just wait about 5-10 minutes for your first boot and start your new ROM!
If you have network problem or Message Read:
Ways to solve network problem, if there is any.
1 - Go to "Settings" Option "Advanced" and select "Baseband Selection". Now properly configure their nationality and select your carrier. And restart your device!
2 - Should not Run the Method "1" Make a FULL WIPE, which will surely work!
3 - If by chance the problem continues, Unplug the appliance, remove the SIM card, wait 10 seconds, and Put back Plug the device.
4 - If you can not solve this problem with the tips in "1" and "2," Reinstall the ROM and make the process very carefully. This is the check mate and certainly will have no problem!
NOTE: You have not had this problem network, More to whoever installed the rom and stayed. Do the above processes to solve the problem!

Hello friend, this same problem has happened to me. More is not the rom, I believe it is a bug That may have ported of have another ROM When changing. More is easy to solve, just give a FULL WIPE!
Unplug the appliance, recovery mode. When in recovery -> Custom recovery and make Wipes Correspondents ("Wipe data / factory reset" -> "Wipe cache partition" -> "Wipe Dalvik cache")

it wont help i have also tried that thing,even i have deleted mms.apk from that and also tried from GO sms but same thing CAN NOT SEND SMS,

clean flash means that you wiped data ? Else I think you should do it

I would like to report my observation here. This SMS bug is prevalent since the Negan ROM. As i had reported earlier if i install negans rom on fully wiped(using full wipe zip) system it shows up sms bug. But if i install quarx rom first, boot it once and then install negans Rom on top of it without any wipes then there is no problem with sms.
Similar behaviour i found with this rom too. Clean install shows up the bug where as install on top of a working quarks build does not give this bug.

i have Another problem the rom freezes

Advanced settings gives me a freeze.,
Only removing the battery solves the problem.,
I have flashed on top of Quarx 0703, as only then the SMS works.,
Also battery tweaks are not working as it is supposed to be., having a heavy battery drain

came from stock froyo cee and i also got huge freezes. either i need to be very patient or i need to pull the battery off. by the way i used a method to get network working on quarx based roms, while wifi is off i changed/ticked basebandswitch and rebooted. mostly works:good:. if not you can also try to shutdown and reboot then normally or restarting using bootmenu ticking ->boot->2nd boot manually.

The freezes and lags that people are experiencing is because of the Base ROM. The same problems were found when i was using the Base ROM alone. Eg. Random freezes, On receiving notification sometimes the phone keeps vibrating continuously etc. which cannot be solved unless you reboot once

Yes, people need to do a clean install then only u will find the smoothness of this Rom,
But again sms bug is there,
And sometimes network issue also,

[*] Its recommended to be on the latest Verizon firmware 6.21.605.3
[*] If you were using any partition as f2fs, you must switch back to ext4 first.
[*] When prompted to insert SIM during setup, just hit skip and continue on with the setup.
[*] Unknown phone number may show in settings under Sim Status. You can still make and receive calls, your number automatically populates after first reboot.
[*] If you have issues with 3g/LTE data hand off, do a full RUU and do a factory reset with the stock recovery. Alternatively just flash the stock recovery and do a factory reset. Theory is the stock recovery rebuilds NV data. Getting a new SIM card has also been reported to work. Calling customer service and asking them to reset your connection has also been reported to help.
Install: using TWRP is recommended
1. Reboot to recovery
2. Wipe/Factory reset if coming from another ROM
3. Flash ROM
4. Reboot

Q. 3 dot menus have a lot of lag. Whats going on?
A. In order to add the low quality Mms fix and add other values to fix sms for some users, the framwork-res.apk must be modified.
Apktool breaks some animations, until apktool can be fixed the only workaround is to set your "Window animation scale" to "Off" in the developer settings. This will eliminate the lag.
Q. Do I have to be S-Off to use this ROM?
A. Yes, unfortunately Verizon devices aren't supported by HTC Dev unlock so you need to be S-Off in order to flash a custom recovery. If you didn't get your device S-Off with KitKat rooted and unlocked with Sunshine, I'm afraid your only hope now is finding a forum member who can unlock it with a Java Card. Q. I can't get RRO layers to work, what am I doing wrong?
A. Nothing, RRO Layers was not included by HTC. So in short it doesn't work nor will it ever! Don't even ask!
Q. How do I enable the SystemUI Tuner in 6.0?
A. Pull down the notification shade, Long press the settings gear. It's hard to see but the gear will spin under your finger. Press and hold, this may take a long time and may take multiple attemps but you will get a toast saying the "SystemUI Tuner is active". The menu will appear in the settings under About phone.
Q. How do I enable multi window in 6.0
A. You need to edit the build.prop, look for ro.build.type=user change it to ro.build.type=userdebug save the file and reboot. If you haven't already you need to enable developer options. In About phone you have to tap the build number several times to enable. In developer options you'll find the multi window switch about 3/4ths the way the down the settings list.
Q. Does the duo camera Ufocus and 3D effects work on GPe?
A. Yes it does. Google camera supports the duo effect. HTC FX editor is a stock feature of GPe so Ufocus and 3D effects all work.
Q. I don't see Trusted face in Smart lock, am I missing something?
A. Trusted face was removed in 5.0.1, probably to make room in the /system. Trusted face for (M8) GPe Marshmallow. Ported from the Nexus 6

A. In Lollipop and Marshmallow your app needs to be granted permissions to the root of the Ext. SD card by DocumentsProvider Storage.
1. The app may need updated. Usually the app will open the DocumentsProvider so you can select your card.
2. Make sure when you selected the Ext. SD card in DocumentsProvider that you were in the root directory.

* WiFi may drop out when the screen is off. This issue involves more then just firmware. 5.0.1 and 5.1 used new DHCP protocols, 6.0's protocols are updated and work better on legacy devices but you may have less or no drop out issues with newer WiFi routers.
* Do not disturb / Priority mode is broken... HTC added some code from sense that has broken your notifications from starred contacts when DND is enabled. When DND is enabled with "Priority Only" and a starred contact sends you a text or phone call the ringer should sound and vibrate depending on what your configuration is, but what happens is when the contact is validated its looking for a column "VIP" in the contacts.db, well "VIP" doesn't exist in Google contacts only in Sense contacts... so it doesn't validate and you don't get the notification. Flashable fix.
Thanks to @kbitz for the fix.
* Android 6.0 has an MMS bug that will require you to reboot your phone every couple of days or sending and receiving MMS will become proplematic. Issue tracker on the subject.

Yep same rom new thread. I'm not gonna go crazy with AROMA and mods but I figured it was the best option for an optimal user experience.

New sim and all is well. Just wanted to report back because a few other users experienced similar issues. Hope this helps someone else!

Just wanted to share my experience so far!
I flashed this firmware from DigitalHigh's ROM: M8_FIRMWARE_VZW_001__4.17.605.9.zip
After, I wiped completely and installed your ROM + Beyond Stock Kernel.
Pulled out the SIM and started my phone. Did the initial setup over WiFi and got my phone back up to speed.
I shut down, put the SIM back in, and turned back on. Got 3G.
Only other issues I've had so far are hangouts crashing occasionally and something happened with Google Play Services (on second boot, I got a message saying that it's not compatible with my device and to contact the manufacturer.)
Nevertheless, it's been good.

This is the same as the last Rom posted by undarated, right? Just asking because I flashed that on my primary slot in multirom and I didn't pull my SIM card and everything's fine.

Yes it's the same, he didn't have anything to do with my build so... I started my own thread. I'm in the process of building an AROMA version too with a completely stock option and a custom install with a few options.

Just wanted to check in and say thanks for this - I've been using it for 3 days now and it has performed flawlessly. I really appreciate the ability to install the stock kernel - I always seem to get lag with any GPE-style ROM for this phone which tries to mod the kernel, install 57 hacks and mods, etc. I also installed xposed to do some minor tweaks. I'm pretty sure this is going to be my daily driver. Hoping for a new version once the latest stagefright patch is released.

OK, put together that AROMA build. Need some testers to make sure everything is good. Pretty sure I nailed it though.

It's striped down significantly... Since there is no mods to the ROM, you can install a stock ROM with no mods or the stock ROM with add ons like sense camera, viper audio, xposed, debloat, su, init.d, busybox, stock or beyond stock kernel, Kinda what I thought the most popular things one would want in a stock ROM.

The thread says the Aroma installer has 3 choices:
First item for those who have SkyDragon ROM or reflash MODPack to change options.
Second item for those who have Stock rooted ROM and flash MODPack first time.
Third item for those who have pure Stock ROM and flash MODPack first time.
You want the Second choice.
Third choice would be if you don't have busybox/SuperSU it will add these, only difference between 2 & 3, so if you don't want busybox,SuperSU choose Second choice as well
Ignore First choice as it has no reason to be in the installer (for us that is) but haven't had time to remove it yet.

The beta group is closed as the development has stopped. There's no reason to join it anymore. You can grab the latest version available without registering.
Instructions (LOCKED BOOTLOADER):
- Flash an FTF from the latest Xperia M2 firmware, you can grab the latest as of today (18.6.A.0.182) from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/general/ftf-download-centre-xperia-m2-t3157411
- Root your device using EagleRootTool.
- Install latest MultiRecovery version from here.
- Download and copy the latest version of the ROM to your SD-card or Internal Memory. Reboot your device and when you see blue/cyan LED while in the Sony Logo, tap many times the Vol+ button to trigger TWRP.
- Choose Install Zip, Choose from /sdcard if it is in the Internal Memory or /sdcard1 if it's in the SD.
- Choose the EagleXperience-*.*, depending on the version you downloaded, and install it.
- In the Aroma Installer, you must accept the ToS, and once done, you'll be able to choose your preferred app installation method.

A bit of OT in here:
My M2, as you may know, is broken, and I had to send it to Sony some weeks ago in order to see if they could fix it. However, the warranty coverage date on it's page was wrong, and they refused in first instance to send me back my device without paying for the postage. After explaining them the problem they were about to cause me as an active developer, they agreed to send me my device back without paying for the postage, but still not repaired.
Now, after several weeks since that, my device is starting to fail again, it refuses to charge in any way until the battery is somehow below 5-10%. I have to constantly wipe the batterystats.bin and restore my TA Partition in order to get it charging a bit, at least until ~ 87% of it's capacity, but I think it's not going to survive for much time any longer. If I wish to keep this going, now that this project has been released, I'm going to need to repair it on my own.
I know I used to say it before, but, if you've a spare buck and you wish to help me get my device repaired, please, consider tipping in (you've links in my profile & signature). Of course, it's not mandatory in any way, but, each and every single contribution is appreciated, since I'm going to need a new motherboard and battery combo and, as a student that I am, I can't afford it so easily.

Unfortunately, not. The issue still happens, but at least they sent me back my device without charging me for the shipping, which wasn't cheap...
I'm going to need either a new Xperia M2 or a new motherboard/battery combo if I wish to keep this going

You can perfectly go from Xperia Z5 STYLE, but, the installer will warn you that it will wipe your data, since it's mandatory after a full rebase... Just keep that in mind.

My fellow T-Mobile-ians, you have been left out of AOSP development long enough! By God's grace I was able to use mickey387's great tbltexx work, and completely adapt it to our tbltetmo after extracting all of the needed firmware from our 6.0.1 stock roms! No data zips are required here! It is all built in!
This is not a dirty unicorn. This is the original unicorn, the AOKP. Now made out of Nougat! That's right, all of the AOKP stuff you love, plus LineageOS, plus a built in side bar, and more! All wrapped up into one! With tons of settings from status bar tweaks to button remaps, it's all here and ready to rumble!

-Which I personally tested Arm 7.0 Nano.
No data fix zip is required for T-Mobile phones! This ROM is actually built for the T-Mobile variants (tbltetmo, tbltecan)!
Be sure to follow these installation steps very carefully, as they may be different then what you are used to.
Installation instructions:
-Put your phone on the 6.0.1 Bootloader and Modem
-Download ROM and gapps, and put them on your phone or external storage.
-Reboot into recovery mode - TWRP (I personally installed this using Mickey's 3.0.0-0).
-Backup what you had. (Just to be safe.)
-Wipe. (I personally wipe everything prior to flashing new roms, but at least do the basic wipe.)
-Install Rom.
-Install Gapps. - Optional
-Reboot to system and enjoy!
I do not recommend installing superSU on this ROM! SU permission is already built in, and superSU has been causing problems with the rom. Please read the thread for further details.

- Fingerprint sensor is really flaky. I got it to work once, but only once. Most times it will not register.
- I have not found any big errors, fault crashes, or problems yet. Please let me know if you find an issue!
This AOKP N ROM was built for the tbltetmo, the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. I have not tried this on any other device, but you are welcome to try it AT YOUR OWN RISK. You will need to edit the META-INF updater script to accomplish this.

T-Mobile users with device model = unknown:
If you are using a N915T (like myself), the fix is very easy!
-Open /system/build.prop in any text editor
-Anywhere in the file, add this line:

Save and exit, then reboot your phone. You can check "about phone" under settings, you should see yourself as SM-N915T, and apps like XDA should report you as Samsung Galaxy Note Edge.

That is a great question.
Most AT&T phones have a locked boot loader, do they not? If you have an unlocked boot loader than it is possible to try, and no damage should arise. But if you have a locked boot loader it will fail to flash.
If you get it to flash, I do not know if it will work or not.
This ROM is flashed through TWRP, there is no modem.bin file in it, it doesn't over write the modem file.

So I it won't allow me to change it is there a fix for this I try updating Super SU Binary on Recovery and still doesn't work please fix and am runny 6.0.1 Boot and Modem N915T how cant I fix this for some reason it says not root detected please fix

You should not install super su on this rom. It has a built in root and controller.

Loaded up and so far is running smooth with the exception of some weirdness around the back and recent apps hw buttons. They seem to be acting properly but are not lighting up. I went into ROM control and tried to adjust. Interestingly when I have the screen open for adjusting time on they do light up, but then go black again after closing the adjustment box. There is also no vibration when hitting those 2 buttons. Im not getting anything useful in the logs that I can see. I tried reflashing but no change in behavior. Any suggestions? Am I the only one seeing this?
I'll post this in the International thread too in case it is effecting other models.

By the way, this rom supports substratum in legacy mode.
I tested the inversion ui theme successfully.

You should not install SuperSU, because the rom already has root permutation built in.

According to the official v4a thread, others cannot get it to work on nougat with SuperSU. PLEASE DIRECT ALL V4A QUESTIONS TO THE OFFICIAL V4A THREAD.
2. Thanks for pointing that out. I see that the built in file manager does not let you look at the SD card. I use the amaze file manager, you can use another manager, until I can fix it.
3. I do not understand the problem. The kernel I made is already selinux permissive. Do you want to set it to enforce instead?

The rom is working or not?

thanks for the rom!
followed the install instructions except i didn't install the TWRP321_OREO_P20LITE.rar because i previously installed it following these instructions.
chose to install the custom kernel and SuperSU. not sure right now what else. i will write it down when i try the next build.
i encountered the following issues:
-error finishing the installation: set_perm: some changes failed during flashing (could this be because i didn't install your modded TWRP?)
-unable to set the lockscreen options
-unable to set up fingerprintid
-settings crashes when attempting to enable dev options
-sd card isn't detected within the fw
once i saw the sdcard isn't detected, i tried to recover from my latest backup but TWRP wasn't able because /system was only mounted as read-only (could this be as well because i didn't install your modded TWRP?).
ended up having to reflash stock from erecovery, rerooting and reinstalling TWRP in order to restore from my last backup (maybe i did something wrong?).
after reading the features list, i personally would use it as my main rom. i'd love to see it with viper4android included and with an all dark theme though but that's just me.

Well, if you eliminate the fact that the fingerprint reader or any other screen lock method does not work, you can not use the micro sd and the developer options are not available. So yes, the rom works.

Nope, so far I haven't seen anyone reporting positively. No fingerprintid and no security features makes the rom pretty much unusable as far as I've tested and seen on the thread. I'm awaiting to see how this develops..

This rom is working prefectly.. i have keep on trying to re install the rom.I always follow the exact instruction, and i have found out. You will have a set_perm: some changes failed. IF you mark check the navbar, and status bar while in aroma installer.. I have able to use everything. Ill try to make a screenshot of it.

YES. I HAVE FLASH THE RECOVERY. AND WHEN YOU FIRST DO THAT... AND YOU SHOULD PUT THE ROM INTO YOUR SD CARD..
YES, IF YOU MARK CHECK THE NAVBAR ANF STATSBAR. WHILE CHOOSING YOUR DESIRED APPS. YOU WILL SEE THAT IN THE VERY LAST PAGE OF THE AROMA INSTALLER. WHERE YOU HAVE THE OPTIONS. NAVBAR STATSBAR, SOLID EXPLORER, KERNEL AUDIATOR, AND the QUICK REBOOT. SO JUST MARK CHECK THE SOLID EXPLORER,KERNELAUDITOR,AND QUICK REBOOT..
SO TRY IT NOW. AND GIVE ME SOME FEEDBACK IF IT WORKS IN YOU. ALSO KINDLY TRY TO DO A SCREENSHOT. I DONT HAVE OTHER PHONE TO TAKE A SHOT ON IT. KUDOS THANKS

ok so i flashed the provided recovery and the rom following the instructions with the following options in aroma installer:
Kernel: Morfu2kernel
Root: SuperSU
Camera: P20 Pro
Music: Stock
Kernel Auditor
Quick Reboot
the installation went through except bootimage patcher failed at decompressing ramdisk (failure, aborting).
edit1: after a cache wipe, i rebooted the phone. the phone boots but no root.
tried to flash SuperSU through TWRP but failed.
wiped data/cache/dalvik/system & reflashed rom with Stock kernel & Magisk no bootimage patcher errors. after a cache wipe, rebooted & phone has root :victory:

so far i'm still getting all my apps installed. i'll letcha know how i get on with it.
edit2: as i am stubborn, i reflashed the rom with the custom kernel and Magisk. root is on and the phone seems to run smoothly.

I worked perfectly, the only problem is that mobile became very slow.

i had that plus overheating but after what i did in edit2 it was gone and the phone runs smoothly.
on another note: is it possible to make this rom have init.d support somehow? it'd be cool for stuff like Liveboot..
