Hello there!
The day has come. Today, I'm very glad to introduce to you all my new work, EagleXperience, for the Xperia M2.
As it's predecessor, Xperia Z5 STYLE, this rom has a pretty unique feature, and it's that it's made keeping in mind users of both locked and unlocked bootloaders.
However, this time is, in it's current state, a purely beta software, meaning you will need to register as a beta tester in order to download and use it.
In the first post you can have a look at some of the feature highlights, as well as some screenshots, and user-made videos and reviews you may want to check before installing it.
In the second post, you'll have some instructions on how to register as a betatester, with some installation and upgrade instructions.
Lastly, in the third post you'll have changelogs and buglists of all versions, as well as the download links for the latest version available.
Completely rebased, using the Xperia Z2 deodexed patch by @Gaurav007, like always, with SuperUserMod and ZipAlign.
Aroma-based Installer: You can choose between 3 new installation methods, EagleXperience recommended apps, Preserve only Google Apps, and preserve All Apps.
Implemented with a bunch of updated Sony Xperia X apps and features, such as Contacts, Dialer, many themes, etc.
No bloatware: In EagleXperience recommended apps, and in Preserve only Google Apps, all unuseful Sony apps were removed. The system gets optimized at it's max.
Tweaked: Some tweaks have been implemented to improve your Lollipop user experience, such as TRIM for NAND, ART Tweaks, better GPS configuration, sound quality mods, latest camera blobs from Sony, and zRAM Tweaks.
Just as before, you can install Xposed on top of it if you want to. Just Google Xposed For Lollipop and follow the steps.
Custom ROM OTA Services: A OTA Update system has been implemented, independent of Sony's FOTA, so that I can send you over there the latest patches and updates of the ROM.
Gaurav007 & Nathan Ali Ashari for their big job on the deodexed Rom, AleksJ for his great support, the Recoveries and Ric Disabler, Miche1Asso for his collection of tweaks to optimize Lollipop at it's max, and Supertiger1234 for designing the new ROM logo, and making the concept video and bootanimation, as well as being a soak tester with Umesh1041 and y.erenbektas.
ENJOY!
Liking it so far? Help us spread the word!

A bit of OT in here:
My M2, as you may know, is broken, and I had to send it to Sony some weeks ago in order to see if they could fix it. However, the warranty coverage date on it's page was wrong, and they refused in first instance to send me back my device without paying for the postage. After explaining them the problem they were about to cause me as an active developer, they agreed to send me my device back without paying for the postage, but still not repaired.
Now, after several weeks since that, my device is starting to fail again, it refuses to charge in any way until the battery is somehow below 5-10%. I have to constantly wipe the batterystats.bin and restore my TA Partition in order to get it charging a bit, at least until ~ 87% of it's capacity, but I think it's not going to survive for much time any longer. If I wish to keep this going, now that this project has been released, I'm going to need to repair it on my own.
I know I used to say it before, but, if you've a spare buck and you wish to help me get my device repaired, please, consider tipping in (you've links in my profile & signature). Of course, it's not mandatory in any way, but, each and every single contribution is appreciated, since I'm going to need a new motherboard and battery combo and, as a student that I am, I can't afford it so easily.
Providing this, here's a list of the donors who participated:
- BlackenedEDIT
- junk031
- karlmorgan92
- ariadnaps
- furankuM2
And, here's the amount left to fund until I can buy the new motherboard and battery: 63.12USD (from 100USD start price)
Thanks so much for everything, I really wish this didn't happen, I'd not need to do this, and thanks for all the past and future contributions, they'll be all invested in getting the device fixed

I'm downloading now, and will install very soon. I can't thank you enough for your work on this device. I guess you got the Sony repair issue sorted out too!
I'll report back as I use it as my daily for a while

Unfortunately, not. The issue still happens, but at least they sent me back my device without charging me for the shipping, which wasn't cheap...
I'm going to need either a new Xperia M2 or a new motherboard/battery combo if I wish to keep this going
Also, just a small reminder, those who aren't betatesters yet (from Xperia Z5 STYLE), will need to register through the Google Form steps, or the download link will throw an error.
I personally need to add you all one by one, and I'm not 24/7 in here unfortunately, so please, if I drop the ball on adding an account after few days, kindly let me know

Awesome ??
Installing in few hours ???

Access denied for download ?

Just a quick question, to go from old rom to new, should I flash an ftf and start from scratch, or can I install over the top with a wipe?
Thanks

You can perfectly go from Xperia Z5 STYLE, but, the installer will warn you that it will wipe your data, since it's mandatory after a full rebase... Just keep that in mind.

That's perfect, thank you.
Is it weird that I'm suddenly really really excited to flash this? It's like getting a new phone every time you release something.

*Disclaimer*
For more information please refer to GPe RUU and ROM thread. ROM is compatible with all M8 variants except Dual SIMThis is not a general discussion thread, please keep off topic chatter to a minimum.
This is a stock ROM with very little modifications.
Modifications made to this ROM are for Verizon network connectivity. framework-res.apk for apns.xml and eri.xml, build.prop
Added CDMA device support to stock boot.img
If there are issues with the ROM that don't pertain to those changes, those comments and bug reports should be directed at Google and HTC not here.
Special notes:
[*]Built with the AROMA Installer. Options include... Stock, Traditional Root and System-less Root.
[*] Its recommended to be on the latest Verizon firmware 6.21.605.3
[*] If you were using any partition as f2fs, you must switch back to ext4 first.
[*] When prompted to insert SIM during setup, just hit skip and continue on with the setup.
[*] Unknown phone number may show in settings under Sim Status. You can still make and receive calls, your number automatically populates after first reboot.
[*] If you have issues with 3g/LTE data hand off, do a full RUU and do a factory reset with the stock recovery. Alternatively just flash the stock recovery and do a factory reset. Theory is the stock recovery rebuilds NV data. Getting a new SIM card has also been reported to work. Calling customer service and asking them to reset your connection has also been reported to help.
Install: using TWRP is recommended
1. Reboot to recovery
2. Wipe/Factory reset if coming from another ROM
3. Flash ROM
4. Reboot
5. Enjoy, First boot will take 5 to 10 minutes, on average I've noticed it takes about 7

FAQs & Issues
FAQs
Q. 3 dot menus have a lot of lag. Whats going on?
A. In order to add the low quality Mms fix and add other values to fix sms for some users, the framwork-res.apk must be modified.
Apktool breaks some animations, until apktool can be fixed the only workaround is to set your "Window animation scale" to "Off" in the developer settings. This will eliminate the lag.
Q. Do I have to be S-Off to use this ROM?
A. Yes, unfortunately Verizon devices aren't supported by HTC Dev unlock so you need to be S-Off in order to flash a custom recovery. If you didn't get your device S-Off with KitKat rooted and unlocked with Sunshine, I'm afraid your only hope now is finding a forum member who can unlock it with a Java Card. Sunshine now works with sense marshmallow. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2792487
Q. I can't get RRO layers to work, what am I doing wrong?
A. Nothing, RRO Layers was not included by HTC. So in short it doesn't work nor will it ever! Don't even ask!
Q. How do I enable the SystemUI Tuner in 6.0?
A. Pull down the notification shade, Long press the settings gear. It's hard to see but the gear will spin under your finger. Press and hold, this may take a long time and may take multiple attemps but you will get a toast saying the "SystemUI Tuner is active". The menu will appear in the settings under About phone.
Q. How do I enable multi window in 6.0
A. You need to edit the build.prop, look for ro.build.type=user change it to ro.build.type=userdebug save the file and reboot. If you haven't already you need to enable developer options. In About phone you have to tap the build number several times to enable. In developer options you'll find the multi window switch about 3/4ths the way the down the settings list.
Q. Does the duo camera Ufocus and 3D effects work on GPe?
A. Yes it does. Google camera supports the duo effect. HTC FX editor is a stock feature of GPe so Ufocus and 3D effects all work.
Q. I don't see Trusted face in Smart lock, am I missing something?
A. Trusted face was removed in 5.0.1, probably to make room in the /system. Trusted face for (M8) GPe Marshmallow. Ported from the Nexus 6
Q. I can't get Titanium Backup to work with my sd card, I keep getting an insufficient free storage error.
A. Take a look at this post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64064833&postcount=3714
Q. I'm having Ext. SD card permission issues with ***** app. It can't write to my external microSD card.
A. In Lollipop and Marshmallow your app needs to be granted permissions to the root of the Ext. SD card by DocumentsProvider Storage.
1. The app may need updated. Usually the app will open the DocumentsProvider so you can select your card.
2. Make sure when you selected the Ext. SD card in DocumentsProvider that you were in the root directory.
Issues
* MRA58K.H15 Backup account fix, also includes the DND priority mode fix
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24686680535467942
* WiFi may drop out when the screen is off. This issue involves more then just firmware. 5.0.1 and 5.1 used new DHCP protocols, 6.0's protocols are updated and work better on legacy devices but you may have less or no drop out issues with newer WiFi routers.
* Do not disturb / Priority mode is broken... HTC added some code from sense that has broken your notifications from starred contacts when DND is enabled. When DND is enabled with "Priority Only" and a starred contact sends you a text or phone call the ringer should sound and vibrate depending on what your configuration is, but what happens is when the contact is validated its looking for a column "VIP" in the contacts.db, well "VIP" doesn't exist in Google contacts only in Sense contacts... so it doesn't validate and you don't get the notification. Flashable fix.
Thanks to @kbitz for the fix.
* Android 6.0 has an MMS bug that will require you to reboot your phone every couple of days or sending and receiving MMS will become proplematic. Issue tracker on the subject.
Special thanks:
Our families for putting up with us being on the computer for so long.
Lots of features were not possible without the help of these awesome people.

Yep same rom new thread. I'm not gonna go crazy with AROMA and mods but I figured it was the best option for an optimal user experience.
Looking forward to it!

New sim and all is well. Just wanted to report back because a few other users experienced similar issues. Hope this helps someone else!
Just wanted to share my experience so far!
I flashed this firmware from DigitalHigh's ROM: M8_FIRMWARE_VZW_001__4.17.605.9.zip
After, I wiped completely and installed your ROM + Beyond Stock Kernel.
Pulled out the SIM and started my phone. Did the initial setup over WiFi and got my phone back up to speed.
I shut down, put the SIM back in, and turned back on. Got 3G.
Only other issues I've had so far are hangouts crashing occasionally and something happened with Google Play Services (on second boot, I got a message saying that it's not compatible with my device and to contact the manufacturer.)
Nevertheless, it's been good.
This is the same as the last Rom posted by undarated, right? Just asking because I flashed that on my primary slot in multirom and I didn't pull my SIM card and everything's fine.

Yes it's the same, he didn't have anything to do with my build so... I started my own thread. I'm in the process of building an AROMA version too with a completely stock option and a custom install with a few options.
I'm glad to hear everything is working for you! :good:
Just wanted to check in and say thanks for this - I've been using it for 3 days now and it has performed flawlessly. I really appreciate the ability to install the stock kernel - I always seem to get lag with any GPE-style ROM for this phone which tries to mod the kernel, install 57 hacks and mods, etc. I also installed xposed to do some minor tweaks. I'm pretty sure this is going to be my daily driver. Hoping for a new version once the latest stagefright patch is released.
OK, put together that AROMA build. Need some testers to make sure everything is good. Pretty sure I nailed it though.

It's striped down significantly... Since there is no mods to the ROM, you can install a stock ROM with no mods or the stock ROM with add ons like sense camera, viper audio, xposed, debloat, su, init.d, busybox, stock or beyond stock kernel, Kinda what I thought the most popular things one would want in a stock ROM.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
I haven't had time to flash this ROM but will be very shortly.
I ported over the Lyapota MOD Pack to this ROMs files.
Thought I'd share.
Lyapota thread
The thread says the Aroma installer has 3 choices:
First item for those who have SkyDragon ROM or reflash MODPack to change options.
Second item for those who have Stock rooted ROM and flash MODPack first time.
Third item for those who have pure Stock ROM and flash MODPack first time.
You want the Second choice.
Third choice would be if you don't have busybox/SuperSU it will add these, only difference between 2 & 3, so if you don't want busybox,SuperSU choose Second choice as well
Ignore First choice as it has no reason to be in the installer (for us that is) but haven't had time to remove it yet.

(Flash in Recovery)
ROM is fully functional. No issues, no bugs, great performance.
Did advance wipe in TWRP, on latest firmware .9, chose full wipe in aroma, but got stuck on bootanimation. Any ideas as to why?

Hello there!
Today I'm presenting you the latest update of my ROM, Xperia Z5 STYLE 4.6.
This rom has a unique feature, and it's that it's made for both locked and unlocked bootloaders, having some advantages and disadvantages linked to it...
Based on the latest Xperia Z1 Compact deodexed base by @Gaurav007, with SuperUserMod and ZipAlign.
Implemented with a bunch of updated Sony Xperia Z5 apps, such as Camera, Weather, Contacts, Dialer, some themes, etc.
No bloatware: All unuseful Sony apps were removed. The system has been optimized at it's max.
Tweaked: Some tweaks have been implemented to improve your Lollipop experience, such as TRIM for NAND, ART Tweaks, and zRAM Tweaks.
You can install Xposed on top of it if you want to. Just Google Xposed For Lollipop and follow the steps.
Custom ROM OTA Services: A OTA Update system has been implemented, independent of Sony's FOTA, so that I can send you over there the latest patches and updates of the ROM.
X-Reality & Bravia Engine 2 come preinstalled to enjoy a better image quality.
Do you want to join our beta group? Check here.

- Go to Wipe, Advanced, and choose Data, cache and Dalvik cache.
- Go back and choose Install Zip, Choose from /sdcard if it is in the Internal Memory or /sdcard1 if it's in the SD.

WARNING: If you wish to install version 4.0, you should check the Old Thread for instructions, which is at the bottom of this post. I don't recommend it. Use the latest version instead.
Upgrade (Via OTA):
- Open the OTA Updater app.
- If there's any new update, it will prompt us. Just hit Download.
- Once it finishes downloading, it'll let us flash it. Just hit the Flash button. Leave unchecked all checkboxes (Backup, Wipe Data and Wipe Cache), unless I explicitely told you to check some in the changelog.
- Once Sony's logo appears, hit the Vol+ button to open TWRP.
- If the installation doesn't start automatically, go to Install, choose your internal memory (sdcard0), go into OTA-Updater folder, Download, ROM, and you'll find there the ZIP.
- OpenRecoveryScript will do the rest for you, so just sit back and relax.
Upgrade (Manually):
- Download and copy the latest version of the ROM to your SD-card or Internal Memory. Reboot your device into TWRP recovery, following the steps from above methods, either Open Bootloader or Locked Bootloader.
- Choose Install Zip, Choose from /sdcard if it is in the Internal Memory or /sdcard1 if it's in the SD.
- Choose the Z5-STYLE-*.*, depending on the version you downloaded, and install it. After 3 minutes it will be ready to go!
- Optional: If you want to clear your data, go into Wipe, Advanced, and check Data, Cache and dalvik cache.
- Reboot and wait until the system completes the upgrade.
All bugs and faulty apps, excepting some Sony camera apps were removed or fixed! (Thanks to some tweaking and modding)
Settings app functionality has been extremely improved! Now, the 3 main required-add-ons of the ROM, APN Config, YAAB and OTA Updater have been integrated directly into the Settings, and thus, removed from the launcher to avoid duplicate functions. (APN Config is under Settings → More → Install new APNs, YAAB under Settings → Screen → Automatic brightness, and OTA Updater under Settings → About device → System updates). Also, the Settings icons have been replaced by the new Xperia X ones.
New BootAnimations. Yes, you read it well, bootanimations, since now, in the first boot, you'll be presented with a color-changing bootanimation to let you know if the first boot is doing well, or frozen. When first boot is done, it's replaced with regular Xperia X bootanimation, which I'm quite sure you'll love it
New Android-N-style notification shade and Emojis from Developer Preview 2! As I already previewed some days ago, here you've the flattish Android N style notification shade, plus some new emojis right from Android N, featuring support for Unicode 9!
Support for XPERIA Companion (and PC Companion) added!
A small Stagefright patch has been applied to the system, to avoid MMS RCEs. For those upgrading from older versions, in order to activate it, please, wipe data of the Xperia Messaging app.
New Number Assistant app included, letting you block unwanted calls and SMSs.
Updated launcher (Xperia Home 10.0.A.0.40), featuring slide-down-to-search function right from the desktop and app drawer icon rearrange (if wanted).
New Xperia X system sounds added, featuring new ringtones and notifications.
All System apps, and SuperSU package were updated to it's latest version as of today.
And some other things I can't recall right now...
Old versions:
Version 4.5-MU1 and 4.5b-MU1
Beta release channel it's going to be considered 4.5b-*** from now on, instead of the old 4.5b3, which is now a non-sense.
NotoColorEmoji font has been updated to use Android 6.0.1 emojis. You'll need an external keyboard to use the new emojis, such as Fleksy.
Settings has been slightly redesigned, following Xperia X series look and feel.
The gap between the network indicator and the battery icon has been reduced considerably.
A better PS4 Remote Play port has been included. I've no idea if it works , so if anyone owns a PS4, please test it and report.
SEMCcolorExtraction was faulty, making multimedia LED to stop working in Album and Video app. Now that's fixed.
Xperia Home has been updated to 10.0.A.0.24, featuring Double Tap to sleep in the launcher.
Hosts updated

#OldPost:
Xperia Z5 S.T.Y.L.E. 4.0 features:
- Stock based, 18.6.A.0.175, Deodexed using @Gaurav007's Firmware, zipaligned and with SuperUserMod.
- Implemented using ALL XPERIA Z5 APPS (which weren't considered Bloatware OFC). For example: Z5 Camera 2.0, Weather, Calendar, Contacts, Themes, Dialer, Messaging, Mail, etc.)
- DEBLOATED: It's faster than any ROM out there (probably even faster than some UBL Roms), very stable and weights considerably less (Less than 400MB). All the system has been optimized wisely, removing Sony unnecesary apps.
- TWEAKED: Implemented with various tweaks, discovered and made by @Miche1asso, to ensure a proper Lollipop experience. For example: GPS Fixes, zRAM tweaks, FStrim to boost your NAND...
- You can install Xposed if you want to, just flash Rovo89 API22 Xposed flashable Zip and you're ready to go
- If you want full camera Resolutions, please check here: #62

Versión 4.0; Initial version.
Known bugs:
My APNs are not downloading automatically, what should I do?
Configure them manually... I'll try to fix that for the next one
My screen is not working to touch anymore after flashing the Zip?!?!
That's a Sony's Kernel bug present in all 0x0800 screens, and I can't fix that.
The solution for me is to lock my device, and after 3 seconds, turn the screen back on and it should be working ok again.

Quality is almost the same than stock, but, IMO, it looks decent enough. I can upload some samples if you want to. And in night conditions it has improved way much. Give it a try. BTW, the UI is the Z5 v2 camera so at least it's something fresh.

BTW, recorded using SCR Screen Reocorder 5+ for Lollipop. This one.
Remember to: Disable MIC Audio or will crash & to Set a path for Non-root recording saving, or will crash.

If you're on a clean Lollipop installation, you can skip flashing the FTF.
I just added that step in case you're on a custom rom like Omni or CM
Only issues I've encountered:
1. Auto downloading network settings is not working (but it was mentioned and easy to handle).
2. Auto screen dimming is not working on my device (D2303).

Flashing Instructions
You will have to disable the bootloader lock first:
Enable developer options in Android by tapping the Build version in Settings > About 7 times
Check "Enable OEM unlock"
Next you will have to boot into TWRP, use @hisname's TWRP:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gen...410-5-inch-t3177753/post66208281#post66208281
You can boot TWRP either by flashing it to the recovery partition or by booting it directly via fastboot if you don't want to overwrite the stock recovery, i.e.:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-05042016.img
or
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-05042016.img
Make a backup of the stock ROM and then do a factory reset. You can then flash the CM13 image from sdcard or via adb sideload.

v84 works (used it for at least 3 weeks), updated to v85 yesterday: also working.

Since no further details were provided, it would be nice if josoft86 could describe what happens during the "attempted" installation.

Oh, thanks, you are the best, this rom is so table and smooth, your job is awesome, a hug.
Thank you. I decided to buy the Elephone Trunk because I was interested in a economic phone that could 'easily' be upgraded with non stock ROM (preferably CM 13).
I have gone through the previous conversation and I must admit I'm impressed with your progress so far. Congratulations and a big thank you!
I will definitely flash your build as soon as I receive the phone.

Great job!
Great job and super useful guide @ottmi.
Thank you!
I am currently running your previous release (cm-13.0-20160515-UNOFFICIAL-trunk) and have no issues to report at all!
In order to upgrade to the latest one, do I need to delete everything and start from scratch or is there an upgrade process?
Thank you for the excellent work.
Kind regards.
P.S. I have downloaded and installed GAPPS (Google Apps) from CM portal and found that the "nano" package has everything I need, while anything larger (e.g. full package) can't find enough space on system partition - no big deal though.

Dirty flash is enough, no need to clean everything. Just install the new build, wipe the caches afterwards like it is suggested by TWRP recovery.
Some of your apps may have a survival script, others need to be reflashed (this is just the case for special tools, like Xposed, etc.)
Nano Gapps is a smart choice either way, because all the pre-installed Gapps will be outdated soon enough, so why bother to install a "huge" Gapps pack...
I use microG and have roughly 260 MB left on the system partition.

Sorry, but I think there is an error. If you want to flash a recovery the code would be "flash recovery" instead of "flash boot".
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-05042016.img
Appart from that (and the silly minute I've suffered because I did not understand at first what had gone wrong) everything is perfect :good:
Thank you, great job!
One question, have any of you got to use a SD memory card as internal memory?
I have tried to do so but it gives me an error message when moving apps and pictures, as if there was not enough space (when the fact is that there is more than enough by far - 32 Gb).
Thanks in advance

I'm using a 32GB microsdhc to store music and pictures, no issues at all. I've also used 64GB mirosdxc without problems. I've never tried moving apps though.. How does it show in Settings->Storage & USB?
Yes, that's it. There you have the possibility of formatting the SD card to use it as (more) internal memory.

XOS is a new generation cutting-edge OS for Android based on Code Aurora Forum releases.
What is XOS?
halogenOS, also known as XOS is a new Android ROM which ships with the global aim to
become a modular ROM which keeps as high as potentially possible operating
performance on your mobile device while still maintaining a sufficient feature
base of nice, small and minimal features that would not be available via any
external feature base, extension, mod or plugin.
We hope you have a truly halogenified experience!
Internals of XOS
At core, the ROM is composed mainly of components from CodeAuroraForums (CAF),
featuring only extremely minor set of components from CyanogenMod (CM) which
have been added to source in order to allow for better cross-device compatibility.
Our LOVE to others
A huge thanks goes to those behind the CodeAuroraForums (CAF), the CyanogenMod
organization and all of its
contributors for the sources used in the development of the base ROM which we
started with inclusive of all the work and dedication their team puts in order to
keep us updated on the awesome contributions that they make.
We will be keen on ensuring that we be up to date with the code from our base sources,
with regular ROM updates hopefully coming from time to time.
Please do not ask for ETA's (else you shall be spooked by Mr Skeltal). Almost all of us are
students, and with the current lifestyles and routines we have, it is not that easy to acquire
time to develop the ROM, though we'll be sure to keep you updated and release OTAs as
soon as they are available and ready for publication. If you want to be really updated quick,

Common stuff
The ROM is super stable as of now and we'll maintain a clean and proper ROM.
Known issues are going to be fixed as soon as possible. We don't have infinite time.
Highlights :
Substratum
Full media support (FFMPEG, video codecs, ...)
Great Audio quality, no distortions, no crap
Optimized many portions of the system including surfaceflinger, inputflinger, System Server, and more
Super fast boot
Superuser-capable
Great battery life
Soundmod support (not all soundmods work on Nougat, it's not our fault)
addon.d support (backups your gapps etc. when flashing new build - don't wipe system before flashing!)
init.d support
BusyBox
Disabled Access Time for all partitions (We don't need access time. When access time is enabled, it will store the exact date of the access when a file is accessed, what just wastes write cycles (in theory) and has impact in I/O performance.)
Super smooth
Signature Spoofing toggle (Support for MicroG)
Support for trusted third-party WebViews like Chrome
Long press on home for assist toggle
Security Patches in kernel
OpenGapps (Mini/Micro/Nano recommended) and Banks GApps support
Full KeyHandler & KeyDisabler support
Dexpreopt for faster (first) boot time and less space consumption on data partition
Upgrade & Boot the ROM in just 5 minutes - no more endless waiting for flashing a new build
Very high compatibility with other ROMs
How to update the ROM:
Download the latest zip
Reboot into TWRP (Please use official TWRP)
Do not wipe anything
Flash the ROM
Flash SuperSU 2.79 or newer if you want (Download 2.82 here)
or
Flash Magisk v13.1 if you want from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
Reboot
You don't need to wipe Cache/Dalvik.
You don't need to flash gapps again. There is some magic going on which keeps your GApps. Just make sure that you don't wipe system before flashing.
You don't need more than 5 minutes.
How to install the ROM for the first time:
Download the latest zip
Reboot into TWRP (Please use official TWRP)
Wipe system, data and cache (If you want to try a dirty flash, dont wipe anything)
Flash the ROM
Flash gapps if you want
Flash SuperSU 2.79 or newer if you want (Download 2.82 here)
or
Flash Magisk v13.1 if you want from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445

I should mention that you'll have no nav bar when you first boot. You'll have to go into settings and enable it. So don't freak out when you get stuck in an app, just go into settings from quick settings. I'll try to enable it and upload a new build asap.

I was stuck in the initial configuration because I did not have a lower navigation bar, I restarted the power button for a long time and I started the bootloop. I tried twice to blink the rom and I could not get out of bootloop. Waiting for new construction .... thanks, nonetheless. good job.

Just an observation, try to install it from the official twrp 3.1.1 and after doing the backup I was unable to access the recovery. Nor restarting in recovery mode even from the fastboot. I had to put back the squid twrp through adb ...

I forgot to mention some Bluetooth issues, but I haven't had any trouble staying connected to anything. I thought the only problem was inbound file transfer. I'm working on it. I've been using Magisk without any issues by the way.

Sometimes old Gapps or a bad data connection can make the setupwizard hang. If you weren't using up to date Gapps try updating them. I'f that doesn't work. Try selecting not using any data or WiFi connection on setup. It worked fine for me with 6-17 Open Gapps before I uploaded the build.

My feedback about CR8.0 (weekly build 20200513-0206) with gapps pico, magisk 20.4 and ~75 user apps.
Using TWRP 3.3.1-z3c-20191212-sar from here
Xposed (RiRu 20.2 from magisk repo, EdXposed-YAHFA-v0.4.6.2.4529 from here) works without problems (1st screenshot).
I'm not using internal data encryption because of compatibility problems between ROMs/versions, tired to restore backups each time I flash new ROM.
About 700MB of RAM free just after boot, with stock launcher.
Battery drain fast, but my battery is very old, no complain.
Pros:
+ reliably fast
+ everything works including GPS, BT, calls/data, hotspot and all my apps
+ no problems with audio routing and mic sensitivity
+ camera is ok but I use OpenCamera anyway
Cons/bugs:
- still no 5ghz wifi in Russia (I use my magisk-patch to fix this, may also help with other regions, try if you meet this bug)
- ongoing call can be hanged accidentally by double-tap in any place of turned off display (e.g. by cheek) if tap-to-wake feature is active (here is my workaround using Automate tool, works like a charm). I'm not sure if this bug belongs only to my phone or to any z3c, but it was like forever on any AOSP-based ROM, starting with Android 7.
- broken size for "Aeroplane mode" button/icon in power menu (see 2nd screenshot)
- ringtone sound become a bit quieter after half a second from start of incoming call
- overall loudspeakers volume is not loud enough
Features I'd like to have in this ROM:
1) choose clock position in statusbar (only at left in CR8.0)
2) brightness control by sliding in statusbar without opening it
3) mess up digits on the PIN unlock screen [Carbone Fibers > Buttons > Scramble PIN]
4) unlock instantly when entering last digit without confirmation
5) long press power button to turn on/off torch while display turned off [Carbone Fibers > Buttons > Toggle torch]
6) restrict/disable power menu while phone locked
7) disable notification panel while phone locked
8) set minimal time between notifications on per app basis
9) wake by volume rocker buttons
10) increasing ringing volume
11) debugging over network (settings in devs options, absent in CR)
Most of this stuff available in LOS and AEX roms, but also all (except: 7,10,11, with bugs: 6) can be achieved in CR by using GravityBox xposed module.
Thank you @Myself5 for continue work with our lovely z3c.
Thank you very much for supporting our cute device
Did anyone tried edxposed with xprivacylua, Viper4android, Netflix. Do they work?
Found a BUG: can't set PIN/pattern to lock screen, getting bootloop after try to set it and reboot.
I use z3c as my daily driver, so I need screen lock, can't use this ROM until fixed. Hope I'm not only one who faces this bug.

Did anyone tried edxposed with xprivacylua, Viper4android, Netflix. Do they work?

Not sure about these apps, but at least GravityBox[Q] and App Locale 2 I can NOT get working on this ROM with EdXposed v0.4.6.0_beta(4471) (YAHFA). As well as on latest february build of LOS 17.1 (but worked fine on january build). May be I should try some newer versions of EdXposed (like ones from "canary" repo or something), but I need screenlock bug fixed first to use this ROM and more of free time. Btw, everything works perfect on LOS16.

Wiped all except micro sd. Stuck at "Setup wizard keeps stopping", system unusable. With and without gapps.
Ok I just clean-reinstalled ROM and made first boot WITHOUT SIM CARD INSERTED and it's boot fine. Btw my SIM card PIN-locked (if it's important) and it never caused any problems in LOS17.
Also I reserve this post for my review.
Thank you @Myself5 for continue work with our lovely z3c.

The Setup Wizard is still work in progress, and we just discovered nobody tested it with a SIM so far. We'll take care of it, thanks.
As for your screen lock issue in the other message: are you encrypted by any chance? Also I assume that's not happening on the lineage17.1 builds you mentioned?

Tried with and without encryption. With and without Gapps. With and without SIM card. Always same result. Everytrhing fine until you set screen lock PIN either from Setup Wizard or from Security settings. First of, unlock method stays "Swipe" after set PIN. And if you reboot, system's boot to desktop and auto-soft-reboot (without sony logo) after few seconds. And yes, this not happening on LOS17.1
Installation immediately fails for me.

Tried to update from your previous CR7 build (CARBON-CR-7.0-OPAL-UNOFFICIAL-z3c-20190819-2110), using TWRP 3.2.1 from here. Nothing actually got written, so previous installation is fine.

Try 3.3.1 from here, it support Android 10 with "system as root". And I'd recommend wipe all except internal storage and perform clean install.

Doesn't work for me, just blackscreens and reboots. Tried installing it both via TWRP app and fastboot (although strangely enough, even though adb worked, fastboot didn't in Windows, had to boot to Linux), no dice, so went back to my previous TWRP for now.
Would be nice to know what's up with that, but I haven't fiddled with any of this in a long time. Ever since CarbonROM appeared, my Z3C pretty much "just worked" and I never had to do much of any fiddling.
New build uploaded just now has the SetupWizard fixed. The lockscreen bug is getting looked into right now.
Uploaded a new build. Contains some additional lockscreen clocks but more importantly, the PIN issue is fixed.

I can confirm this. Also Google' Setup Wizard passed fine with SIM. Thank you!
What is bother me - the Carbon Fibers menu - as I recall, it usually have much more settings than I can see in this build (see screenshots). This is only to me or some global restriction?
Also camera app not working, this is odd. Though I didn't try it on fresh system (before google's backup restore). Someone please check.

You could try if the camera starts working after deleting the folder /data/credmgr with a root file explorer and then rebooting. By doing this, the credmgr folder with the credmanager files are rebuilt by the system, which can help fixing camera issues.

Thanks for the tip mate. But it didn't help in this case.
Btw, today I installed (again) latest LOS17, tuned it, rebooted many times, played with microG/magisk/xposed modules - camera worked fine all the time.
Next (steps to reproduce): wiped cache, dalvik, data and system, installed only CR-8.0 (20200225), rebooted to system, skip anything, camera WORKS! Did nothing, just rebooted again, and got "Can't connect to the camera"! I think this is a BUG and hope I'm not the only one who faces it.
I still have a question about Carbon Fibers menu, why it lack items/options? I can't even reposition statusbar clock to right without using "third-party" apps like GravityBox xposed module.
Also, kind of "feature request": time to time I use adb from PC (we all do i think), and I hate to connect cable to micro-USB port, cuz it's weak and can break soon if use freqently. I use magnetic port/cable for charging and "ADB over network" toggle in Developer Options for ADB operations. One of the reasons why I prefer LOS is because of this "must have" thing, they even have tile in QS for toggle it quickly! Can it be added to CR?
the "cant connect to the camera" returned unexpectedly..
Hum this new OP looks interesting.
And what is this Twitter Post?
And did someone say May Security Patches?
Thank you for your hard work!
Does encryption work properly?
What works
Viper4android works
Sony Device Dummy works with official Sony apps
Spotify works

Great, this looks interesting indeed!
Today cr-8.0 also was offered as an OTA update on my Z3c which so far I still have on cr-6.1 (because everything is working well and rock stable on this older version and thankfully you still release monthly security patches for it.)
Have you done some thorough testing of cr-8.0 on the Z3/Z3c devices before making it now official and is everything working (e.g. full camera support and proper in-call audio, which had problems on shinano devices on Android 9 and 10 before)?
If so, I might give it a try this weekend.
Thank you and keep up the great work! :good:

I tried dirty-flash on my cr-6.1, but without success - I can't boot my phone because it stuck in boot animation.
