Hello,
I would like to do three things:
1) Rooting my Sony Xperia M (currently on Android 4.1.x)
2) Installing Stock Android 4.3 or 4.4
3) Encrypting the phone via Security -> Encrypt phone
What I have learned so far is that encryption after rooting is possible.
Subsequently, I've considered rooting and installing CM 11, but apparently it's not possible to encrypt with CM 11 installed (correct me if I'm wrong!)
So: After rooting, I will either install Stock Android and encrypt it, or, if that's not possible, keep my Sony-provided Android and use encryption with that.
The decisive factor is whether the "Encrypt phone" feature is functional on a user installed stock Android. Is it?
Sorry if I come across as lazy; I'm willing to put time and effort into this, but preferably only if somebody can actually confirm I won't be wasting it on something that's not possible.
Thank you.
I just want to ask that if i root my Android device then will i be able to get Latest Android system. Like if i root my Nexus 5 with Android Lollipop then am i able to get Marshmallow upgrade from Google?
Hello, due to me having to replace a broken S6 that was running 5.0.2, my new phone was running 5.1.1 by default. When Android M came out, I decided to go ahead and upgrade, hoping for an exploit. However, this hasn't seemed to happen yet. So my question is, since 5.0.2 is the only OS version I know of that can be rooted for my device, is there a way I can downgrade from M to that version? Or is there any other way I can have a rooted phone? I am by no means an expert with this stuff, but any help would be IMMENSELY appreciated.
Unfortunately, no and no. The consensus seems to be that a new root method is unlikely to be found.

Attempting to downgrade at this point will render the phone useless until you flash the version you are on or higher through Odin.
I'm having problem updating the binary in Android phone lollipop
You need to tell your phone model.
I would like to turn my Samsung Galaxy S7 (G930F) into a USB rubber ducky. My device is running android 7.0 and it is rooted with Magisk v16.0. I have tried flashing kali nethunter, but it only supports up to android 6.01 for my device. I would flash android 6.01, but i REALLY dont like it, im willing to flash android 8.0 if that helps. TWRP is installed and i also have kali linux installed (with linux deploy). I tried using Dual Boot Patcher to dual boot android 6.0, but it wont boot up whenever i switch to it. Any suggestions for how i can get it to work? I know a bit about the android os, but i am in no way an expert. Any help is appreciated and i am happy to answer any more questions you might have about my device.
To clarify: i do not intend to use this maliciously, i just think it would be cool (and maybe to prank a couple of my friends).
