I've recently configured the fingerprint scanner on my Lock Screen but notice that a whole bunch of phone functions are still accessible as Quick Settings are still available (well, some functions are).
Now, I'm not the first to notice this - this question has been asked before here and other places but an answer has never presented itself - not on stock firmware anyway. I think this may be a Lollipop "feature" so my question is does anyone knows if Marshmallow still does this or has it been fixed? I say fixed because locked phones shouldn't be turning stuff on & off in my pocket!
Not sure, I know samsung requires you're fingerprint or pin etc to turn on or off functions.
I'd check my Nexus 6 but it's in the mail to my brother right now.
Just to confirm, you can change the setting with it locked, the quicksettings don't just show you what's enabled? I don't have my Z5 yet so I can't check lol.

No, not just a read-only display area. You can adjust brightness slider, toggle on/off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Flashlight, Airplane mode, Auto-rotate and LTE. My regular unlocked Quick Settings config has Mobile data and Stamina mode too. Weird that Airplane and LTE toggle are available on Lock Screen but somehow Mobile data and Stamina are "too important" to be left there.
I've read that removing all these from the regular Quick Settings will remove them from the Lock Screen cut-down version too but that's not really the point. I expect phone functions to be locked when the phone is.
Strange, I can see the use case for it, but it should be a toggle 'allow on lock screen' or something.
I've wanted to toggle bluetooth or airplane mode from the lock screen before, but at the same time I can see why having the ability to do that could be bad (evil coworkers lol)

its not just about evil coworkers, its about thieves turning off Data+Wifi so you cannot use Device Manager !
a big security issue IMO.
Aye, though with features like reactivation lock is less of a issue since they won't be able to wipe and use the phone anyway. Still a security oversight though.

Seems I've answered my own question
I tested this on a Nexus 5 running Marshmallow and it's the exact same scenario unfortunately so it doesn't look disabling Lock Screen Quick Setting access is coming to the Z5 either.
I've also tested an iPhone running iOS 9.1 and access to the Control Center (which has Airplane mode toggle too) is configurable to NOT be available on the Lock Screen.
iOS 1 - Android 0

Yes that's totally nuts! What's the point of using fingerprint as security feature when you can turn off the phone using on/off button and all you mentioned above from the lockscreen! I used to use Xperia xposed or gravity box to configure it so it wouldn't but no root here.

Ah yes, forgot about on/off also being available. Turns out on/off is also available on iOS 9.1 lock screen even with Control Center access disabled so both iOS and Android behave the same there.
So it kinda cuts down the use cases for the find phone functionality on both.
Even on Marshmallow on the Nexus 5 Google have made it so location doesn't display on the toggles on the lockscreen for security of lost devices. But you can disable data still, the thing you need to tell the device to locate itself... Big fail...

Lawyers?
Makes me wonder if Google/Apple lawyers have piped up with, "You know, one of these days some guy is gonna hunt down the thief that stole his fancy phone and get himself killed. Now we don't want to be liable for that so let's leave an option open to the experienced thief to turn off the phone!"
Too fanciful?
Problem still exists up to date

That's quite a good one :laugh::laugh:
When I use the Nova double tap gesture to lock the screen (using Greenify, Screen Off and Lock or Screen Off), I have to type in my pin to open the phone (it won't let me only use the fingerprint scanner). When I shut off the screen via the power button the fingerprint scanner is all that's needed . Do you guys know of a work around to use DT2S while being able to still use the fingerprint scanner to reawaken the phone?

Mine is working with Nova, you don't need Screen Off anymore, it's built into Nova for awhile now.
I noticed that but I still have to enter the pin after diuble tspping even though fingerprint is enabled. Weird.

same here, kinda sucks that I have to keep entering the pin
I'm using swipe up gesture to screen off. Fingerprint unlock is working
Same here. It works but I have to put in my pin after fingerprint.

same maybe it's something that we disabled that broke something?
So I had the same thing. Its actually greenify. Took me a while to figure it out because i was in the same boat. Uninstall that and try the built in app control. I'll still throw down between 5-6 hours screen time without greenify
I use the same exact setup and my fingerprint scanner works perfect.

It says when you use this why it does it, you'll need root to get around this issue and enable root mode in Nova Settings.
that doesn't make any sense. mine works completely fine by doing this. I never turn it off using the power button and I always unlock it with the scanner.

I tried it again with Greenify and the other double tap to lock apps uninstalled and set Nova to use its own lock device setting yet I still have to enter my pin when turning on the screen using the fingerprint scanner. It's bizarre.

I have the same problem. Galaxy S7 + Greenify or Screen OFF, every time I have to enter the PIN too. It is very annoying. I hate to use the side button to shut off the screen, I need one of these apps to work properly with the fingerprint scanner.
same here, have to use the pattern after Nova's double tap lock.
I think the issue shows up if you are also using Smart Lock. I installed Screen Lock Pro and use it in the Nova gestures for double tap and it works great.

Screen Lock Pro does not require your password after fingerprint? I tried two different lock screen utilities and both still required my password.

Correct. There is an option you need to select that I should have mentioned. Smart lock and Nexus imprint must be selected and then it will work. You do need the pro version.
Back on my G3 with Nova I had this same issue when I enabled Smart Lock. I also tried many apps and could not find one that worked. Glad someone on Reddit posted this solution

Thank you, it finally works. :good: Screen Lock Pro with Smart lock enabled is the solution.
Hey everyone.
So installed Microsoft's Next locker to see if it is a worthwhile replacement for the stock EMUI lockscreen (and because they recently added fingerprint reader support), however I have been facing some issues with disabling the stock lock screen, and therefore end up with the "double lock screens". The problem is that, when trying to set the "Password" under Screen Lock & Passwords, the "None" option is greyed out with the following notification: "Disabled by administrator, device encryption or credential storage."
I've had a look at this thread, and the solution that @RobboW posted there doesn't seem to work for me. First of all, the Huawei Unlock doesn't exist in EMUI 4.0 it seems. I did find a Smart Unlock feature (with a Huawei logo, hence the assumption that it is a successor to the Huawei Unlock feature) under Settings - Advanced Settings - Security - Trusted Agents, however disabling that did not work.
Further digging on the internet suggested that I clear the credential storage, however that didn't solve my problem either. Further than that I cannot see any of the two currently active device administrators interfering with the lock screen (I tested it to be safe, and disabling them didn't make a difference).
Has anyone had this issue before, or perhaps know of a workaround?
Cheers! :good:

Hi there, I know it's been a while but lately I faced the same issue and somehow found a solution. Hope it helps you as well.. Try this http://ministryofsolutions.com/2016/10/disable-screen-lock-huawei-devices.html
I have European version of Mate 9 and currently having B126 software update installed and newer software is not yet available.
My problem is that notifications on lock screen can sometimes be swiped away but usually it is not possible. Swiping notification will only make Mate to ask pass code or then fingerprint. When I give the pass code or fingerprint, it will only unlock the screen but the notification is still visible in notification panel.
So basically it works as it worked in EMUI 4.x before.
This is really, really annoying bug and I wonder if others are seeing the same behaviour?
I have not understood if there is a some kind of logic behind the behaviour because sometimes, rarely, notifications can be swiped but usually not.
Any advices?
I cannot screen grab it, but I cannot figure out either what this is, or how to stop it. When I resume the device from being locked, and attempt to input my fingerprint, sometimes, iit will show a bunch of notifications in a screen that resembles the drop down menu. I can"clear all", and then, swipe up, and use the fingerprint sensor on the 2ndary screen(I can either fingerprint or put in my pin).
Does anyone possibly know what this is, and how to rid myself of it? It must be some kind of new feature, because i never had this on my note 8.??
Much appreciated for any help or suggestions..

Have you got Samsung Good Lock, installed ...?
In particular Samsung " Notistar " thats included in Good lock or maybe you side loaded" Notistar" ( module/app ) it .?
if you look in the Notistar settings ( top right, 3 dots menu),you will see "Using in lock screen enabled " most likely grayed out?
It happened to me a few times ,but i managed to figure it out !
Otherwise if you can uninstall module or disable etc and test
Good luck

Yes I do have both the gods lock and the NotiStar enabled. And I also did as you stated and turned that iron off. I may just uninstall that module all together?
Many many thanks!

Good lock... no you don't have to uninstall.
Notistar.... not necessarily..
As stated i was also puzzled, as to what was causing this issue. Luckily, i recognized that it was Notistar, as it had that same transparent layer background, if you launched Notistar manually.
I still have Notistar even though I hardly use it.
I been using, another app.. similar, called Notification History Log (Play Store) the paid version.
What i did was, to turn off my lockscreen notifications.
This is my own preference, as i don't prefer
lockscreen notifications, as my Note 10 +is set to facial
recognition, plus i have Google smart unlock enabled.
eg. Samsung Gear S3 watch, car radio etc. is all set to smart unlock.
Plus, i use double tap from sleep.
So i don't even see a lockscreen.
Why then keep notifications for a lockscreen.?
Also in Device /Settings /Apps /Notistar i have permission to appear on top /over apps turned off.
I have created a Nova Prime gesture shortcut for Notistar if i want to see it.
Good luck
You know, lol, this phone is strange in its notifications. It is taking a while to get used toit from my note 8(maybe I'm just getting old). I Ihad this issue, and then I had an issue with this strange beeping whenI was connected-to my home network, So this note is taking some time to work out the bugs.
Anyhow though, for now, because of that, Iam just going to KISS principal the Notistar. Lol!
Thank you tons though!
