April 2016 software update one plus: stuck at lock screen - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Device: OnePlus One Sandstone Black 64 GB
This phone only has factory installed software and has been updated after automatically receiving software update prompts on the phone.
On 28th April, 2016 a software update popped up on my OPO. I installed it and started using it. My 4G/LTE internet from T--mobile was NOT working, so I thought of a reboot. After a reboot, I'm not able to get past the phone LOCK. When I swipe the screen to unlock my phone, the screen dims and the phone is useless. What are the options to fix this? I've imp data inside the phone.
Is there a way to go back to the state before the update. I've found lot of stuff on the internet that has overwhelming info. I'm afraid to follow most of them because of the fear of losing data.

Same here.
Wipping data is not working aswell.
Dunno what to do.

Hi @ironhydeq.
So, i own an OPO, stock, running COS 13 ( received update a few days ago). No ROOT, no Bootloader unlocked.
Today, early in the morning (My local time) I restarted my OPO because my Google Fit was not able to record my activity. After the reboot, i tried to unlock my phone, but it got STUCK. Freeze if you will.
I tried from Cyanogen Recovery to Wipe Cache, it did not worked.
I tried from Cyanogen Recovery to Wipe Data, it did not worked.
i do not the reason for wipping not working but i was scared. Because whenever a tried to boot into system, I was stuck at lockscreen
I tried to perform a wipe from adb, but adb shell was printing a "error closed". So i got scared .
I thought that i could fix my issue by performing a Wipe...
I Download the OPO toolkit. Put my device into fastboot, and unlocked my bootloader ( yes i void my warranty). After that, the toolkit installed the TWRP ( Custom Recovery ) with just one click.
Then i boot into recovery and perform a wipe. Phone was no longer stuck at lockscreen (actually i lost all data)
After that, my phone has been working great. (more than 12 hours from the issue)
Good luck mate.!

not to repeat, but silvers method WILL work<<<
flash back to stock ( this WILL cause a bootloop at times) go into the stock recovery and wipe the data ( 3 times if you like) and reboot it will boot up.
i know you tried it, but do it again.
unless there is other info that you are not telling us
Agree 100%

I agree 100% - I had an alien rom do pretty much the same type of thing, and followed those instructions, and it was back in no time.
I wish we had some new roms to play with out here...
Same problem.....FIXED!!!
after doing the stock rom instructions i had the same problelm. then when i tried to boot in recovery the button to accept (power button) wasn't working so i couldn't delete my data/cache or reboot now.....the fix?......use the home button to accept instead of power button.

Nexus 5 slow down!

Hi,
recently i have noticed my Nexus 5 acting strangely. A couple of tasks have become very slow while the rest of the phone is fine.
Taking pictures normally is fine but when I try to take a HDR now it will take one, take an age to process it and will lock up the camera in the mean time.
Also taking a screenshot takes an age, first theres a delay then it takes long for it to save.
Finally when i come out of an app to the home screen's there is a 2-3 second phase where all it shows is the wallpaper and nothing else.
Other general use and using apps etc seems fine. Iv tried restarting but noting changed.
Anybody else having similar issues? any solutions to this.
Easiest fix is probably just backing up your apps and data with titanium backup and clean flashing the firmware again. Should weed out any troubles.
And give you a fresh clean start.
Just don't erase your internal SD.
yh your probably right, by clean flashing the firmware, do you mean factory reset.
I haven't rooted etc

You can try factory reset.
But I actually meant flash the firmware with fastboot.

If you have custom recovery, you can also try just wiping cache and dalvik cache first.
@KJ you silly you don't need a custom recovery to wipe cache/dalvik

I've never used stock recovery on any device for anything. Lol
But good to know. ?

(HELP) Stuck on Bootloop, no issue...

Hey guys, today I don goofed.
I went full flashing frenzy mode after week and weeks of restraining myself in fear of doing irremediable damage to my phone. I rooted it and unlocked boot loader without changing the recovery because I wanted as much as possible "stock" root (don't ask why, this is stupid I know).
So I Updated Binaries, Installed Xposed framework, installed a bunch of modules (I can list them if you need), then I installed all the lollipop apk's I could get my hands on (GPL, Google Play Store, Google Search, Music) and I decided, this isn't enough. I then flashed Franco Kernel R27, and things were going great. As that wasn't enough flashing, I flashed the Smooth Scrool Mod and finale Vomer Tweaks. I think this is where it went south, because I didn't find the file for Vomer (that I was supposed to install), so I flashed It once again. After that, my phone started to bug a bit, so I rebooted, and at first I would get no signal, would not detect my SIM card etc. I tried a factory reset and now my phone is booting, getting to the setup screen, and booting again. At this point I still have access to TWRP, Fastboot etc. I then decided to do I full complete recovery using THIS GUIDE to get "100 stock". I'm still getting the reboot at setup screen. I am know trying THIS METHOD
AND IT ****ING WORKED. Holy ****. I'm leaving this post so I can thank all the great guys that help me save my ass... I learned my lesson and do a Nandroid before doing stupid **** like that (i Know i'm gonna do it again...). I was scared ****less. I'm still curious as towhead happened though. Any clue ?
Yep @markbencze guide has saved my A$$ more than once.
i am having bootloop issue, tried many roms, erased partition too, still no use. continuous bootloops

[Q] Switch to ART was huge mistake. HELP!!

Hey all. I need your help.
I have a nexus 5 that is unrooted and runs KitKat 4.4.4.
I recently decided to switch from dalvik to ART (what was I thinking?) and now my phone won't let me get any further than the following two errors:
1. Unfortunately, nfc service has stopped.
2. Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped.
How do I get back to dalvik or get my phone working properly again? (Preferably without having to reset my phone and losing all my data.)
Thanks.
switch it back to dalvik via the developer settings
---------- Post added at 12:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:49 PM ----------
or.. you can unlock your bootloader and flash a custom recovery, so you can flash a file to convert your phone to dalvik from art.

Marshmallow Update Problems

I just got the Marshmallow update. Now contacts aren't updating and the lockscreen is extremely buggy.
What should I reset and what will I lose in the process? If nothing else, is there a way of going back to lollipop?

bro, if you factory reset your phone, it will be definitely good..
i too have faced same problem, i took contacts and messages backup,
remaining things like'
wallpaper, settings, wifi passwords, and other system settings including Moto actions will be taken backup automatically with out our knowledge (these will be asked when your reset is completed)
if you have anything to backup , take backup to PC or any storage media other than Phone/memory cards :highfive:
Note: Backup means not singlefile backup, i am talking about copying of necessary files( except applications )
any further help feel free to ask
---------- Post added at 07:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:27 PM ----------
if you factory reset you will loose everything, except new marshmallow
all apps, all files, all contacts, all messages, every things..
but when asked to restore .. you will be given option to install Apps which are already installed previously..
to be precise : all user files will be deleted..
For me, although I am getting OTA notification (Android M 24.11.25.en.03) but after download, when i click install, the phone takes almost 10-15 minutes to just poweroff . it never moves to recovery mode. I have to manually start the phone. After starting the phone, the system prompts me that the update was not successful. Any suggestions what could be wrong? will clearing the cache help?

Are you purely stock? No root, no TWRP, no Xposed, etc?
If so, factory default, skip all the setup stuff, take the OTA and allow it to finish and fully boot, factory default again and enjoy Marshmallow.
