There are some apps in MM which dont have the menu button show up (3 dots). As such, there is no way to access the app's menu. Is there a way to do this with the S6?

Have you tried holding the recent apps button (left of home)?

Yes I have, it brings up Samsung's multi window feature. Holding down back simply closes the app.
In Lollipop there was a flaoting 3 dots button, now there isn't.
You have to keep holding the back button for the menu to pop up (right of home).

Is there any way to change the capacative touch buttons, without rooting, especially the "menu button".
On my S4, the menu button did exactly that, open up a menu where one was available. And holding the home button would display open apps.
Whereas now holding the home button opens Google Now (I have the Now Launcher) and the menu button shows the recent apps.
This happens regardless if TouchWiz or Now launchers are used.

Yes. Download All in One Gestures here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.phoenixstudios.aiogestures
Go to the Hard Keys tab and customize them as you'd like. Tap the Plus button at the bottom to add the Recents key so you can customize it too.

So I'm able to get the home button to work as I want.
Just the "recent apps" button is still not giving me a menu button, as there is no option to do so in All in one Gestures :/

Sorry, but I wasn't clear. Did you try to long-press the recent button? On the S5 that opens menus...

Well that's silly. I never use split screen, but everyone uses menus... O-well. Thanks!
It used to be possible to long press on the task button and get the menu for most apps.
What happened to it?
Long pressing the back button brings up the menu for my Galaxy S7.

I had a piece of plastic on the home button that would not let me setup the fingerprint option but nothing on the back or menu buttons.

Long press on the back button works for me. I have on app. Shopping List that used the left side as a menu button but that won't work now so I tried long pressing the back button here too. No go. It acts as if I repeatedly pressed the back button. I ended up leaving a review for it saying they needed to update it for Marshmallow.

Thanks a bunch. Need the menu button to search bookmarks in xmarks mobile.
I have the sm-g930f. long press back button does not bring up menu. Installed Nova Launcher long press back button brings up menu now.
Mine flashes whilst holding the back button but doesnt stay...
I can not access the menu button (previously known as right click!). In my old phone (sony), there was a menu button (menu/home/back buttons) and some applications use that as right click menu. However, in the Galaxy A5, there is no such button.
Some websites say that you have to long press the "application list" button near the home key. In my A5, if I long press that button, a menu is opened for multi viewing the apps. So, I tried to disable the muultiwindow feature by downloading an app from the play store. Now the multiwindow feature is disabled, but still the long press of "application list" button doesn't bring up the menu button.
Any idea about that?
You have to long press the back button to bring up the menu.
Can any1 tell me where's the settings options to press/click when u r in a app or home screen? Normally just either holding recent or back button.
Are you talking about the menu button? That's been depreciated for a while. The few apps that still need it have an extra button on the navbar. Home menu stuff is accessed through long presses.

Damn, this sucks. Yes, 3 dot menu button. I have an app doesn't show menu button.
For home screen long press all those 3 nav buttons, none working. Except, long press home button, Google now pops up.

I don't know about the app. I suppose you could use something like Button Savior to create a menu button.
What are you trying to do with your home screen? Try long pressing an empty space to get launcher options.

Yep, thought about button savior. Not much options.
Shoot, wish there's 3 dot menu options available at all times without rooting the phone. Bummer.

Wrong thread?
There is no option to switch the recent and back buttons. It will have to be a mod that changes the code. The buttons are physically visible and can't be changed. Internally it can, however you will have to except the recent apps button will be back and vice versa.
There's always Button Mapper:
