Press Win key+R, type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
You will see the list of devices connected to your PC. If you connect your phone and your PC recognizes it, the list will refresh.
Try to see if the list refreshes when you put your D2202 into flash mode (with the green LED).
If it refreshes, look if a new device has appeared in any menu.

Maybe but I don't know becouse if USB doesn't work fastboot mode wouldn't connect, but it is connecting.
You have to flash a rom through fastboot mode, so you need to find system.img and boot.img from stock rom of a D2202 (unfortunately I have D2203 variant so I can't backup my phone, but I can help you findind the files on XDA) and flash it though flash tool.
You can also try to download an ADB toolbox and run the command:
fastboot erase userdata
(this command will remove all your apps' data but can fix your issue)

Try these steps
Follow this guide to install ADB toolkit.
Then open Sony Flashtool and select the XF icon.
Find Xperia E3 and select D2202 variant. In the right panel you will see a lot of entries with countries and telephone companies, select one and click in the field of "Available firmware:". Download the rom.
When it finishes, close XperiFirm. Click on thunder icon, select Fastboot mode, connect your phone off with vol + pressed (blue LED) to the PC and then press on Select system to Flash. It will ask for a sin file. You have to select a system_....sin, which is in C:\Users\(your user profile folder)\.flashtool\firmwares\Downloads\D2202_...\
and let process finish.
Then press on Select kernel to Flash and select, in the same folder as before, a file called kernel_....sin
When it finishes you can disconnect your pone and try to power it on.

I have a Xperia E3 D2212 and I made the whole process, the problem is that I could not increase the storage memory and FlashTools no longer recognizes my cell phone as a D2212, it recognizes as a D2203, this is because it changed the Kernel in TWRP . Would you like to go back to the Original Kernel ??

[Q] Disabling MTP Mode and enabling USB Debugging while Phone is Off

Dear Experts,
I Unlocked the Bootloader of My Xperia L using the official Sony way. But after the successful unlocking the Phone is not booting at all. It gets stuck at the Xperia colour theme loading... I gone through various posts and found a solution that I have to Flash my phone using flashtools.
Now I instaled flashtools as well as the required drivers. However when I do the flashing in flash mode, the device disconnects automatically and flashtools says that "make sure you are not in MTP mode". I remember that My phone was in MTP mode when i was unlocking the bootloader and the USB debugging was always on... Now after unlocking bootloader the USB Debugging is showing as off (can be seen in the attached file)
After reading couple more posts about MTP ... I understand that I can't successfully flash unless the phone is out of MTP mode, and USB debugging is on. As my mobile is not booting, I can not go to the settings and tick or untick any of the two.
Please help me with a way to do it. I am attaching a screen print of the flashtools for Ref....
It will be a great relief to me....
Thanks in Advance...

how to connect in flashmode without using the buttons?im stock in sony logo and i need to turn on usb debugging to use flashtool
1, the adb drivers aren't installed correctly in your pc
2, don't worry about usb debugging
Just connect the phone to the computer in flash mode by pressing vol down and then plug-in the usb cable to your phone.
Flash tool will recognise it automatically if the drivers are installed correctly
3, then reinstall the stock ROM with flash tool
That's it
You said your device is being disconnected while flashing so
When you start flashing from flash tool start the flashing process
(Without connecting the phone to pc)
After the FTF is extracted flash tool will ask to connect the device
Then just connect your device in flash mode

the drivers will be on the flash tool folder just open the app then tick drivers for Xperia L (thoshan) and general fast boot drivers.
and use the latest flash tool if you can ( Now I am using a Mac so I have a flash tool which was made for apple. but I used to flash my phone using windows and this is the version of the flash tool "flashtool-0.9.18.5" and this worked fine for me ).

Before trying backup ta cuz if it brick you can restore from backup or brick ta mean hard brick device that only sony can fix.
This trick worked on Xperia e1 so maby work on E3 also.
Does this method works on Xperia E3 D2206/D2243??
Does this method work with Xperia E3 D2206/D2243 ?? @vinay What do you think?
I am telling this because around a half month ago, I get rooted in my phone (D2206 model) using D2203 boot img file. Thanks for all
@lexiyuri I believe you can flash lollypop aosp and use this method to root it.
I wanna tell you that D2212 root method work on d2202 cause it supports it's kernel. Now sony released 4.4.4 on d2202 and I,ve flashed d2202 FTF on my D2212 and it is working like charm.
And an FTF contains
Boot
System
Fotakernel
Userdata
And may more.
But aosp only contains userdata.img system.img boot.img and I bet it will work.
Cause in FTF we need all partition,s compatible but in aosp just 3 and if you see cycle of phone boot you only need one compatible and it is boot which is already compatible.

Camera Issues
I don't know if this tread is still active.
But ive followed the tutorial all the way through and really impresses with how straightforward it was.
However I cant see a camera app and when I install one (lets say google camera) it says "camera has stopped working!"
Any advice?

[Q] No Flashmode Xperia D2302

Hi Everyone,
I am having an issue since last one month. Researched a lot but nothing helped me.
I tried to flash my xperia m2 dual (D2302) with a custom rom (MIUI V5, from ROMs section). I got the devices booted but when I realized lots of bugs in the ROM, I planned to switch back to stock ROM. I had flashed stock ROM couple of times earlier and so I follow the flash instructions again. I then realized the device is not booting in flashmode. Whenever I am connecting the device while switched off with holding the volume down button, A green led flashes and goes off. The flashtool says
Device connected with USB debugging off.
For 2011 line devices, make sure you are not in MTP mode.
I tried a lot but couldn't resolve the problem. Then I found CM11 nightly build. With that ROM I am using my device but it also has two major issues.
1) Sudden reboots (while chatting or while playing games)
2) No audio after using device for an hour or so after reboot. Reboot solves the problem for an hour but audio goes off again after one or one and half hours.
I want to go back to stock ROM. But unable to do so because of no flash mode.
For information:
1) I am using 64Bit windows 8.1 (I had flashed my xperia d2302 with this machine a couple of times before I flashed MIUI V2)
2) Drivers are properly installed, USB cable changed but not luck
I request everyone with the android development knowledge, please help me out. I am a newbie in this area and so don't know much. Please let me know how can I resolve the flashmode problem or can I revert to stock ROM using a way other than flashmode.
Or if you can tell me how can I fix the CM11 sudden reboot and no audio issues.
Please help me out. Please
The way to get in to flashmode is to make sure your phone is turned OFF , then you just have to connect your phone to a USB while holding volume down.
If you can't get it right this way, you could always try to flash trough fastboot, first of all go to your device information, where you can find your Android version etc. ... tap the build number for like 5-6 times , so the developer options become visible in the options.
Then in the developer option , turn ADB debugging on, connect your device with your computer.
Make sure you got the adb drivers installed and fastboot drivers also for your device.
Whenever your computer connects trough adb with your phone, you gotta allow the connection by allowing it on your phone. (There will be a pop-up screen).
Then you gotta make sure you got Android SDK installed, there will be a map called SDK, open it and then open the platform-tools map.
Move your kernel, recovery, and system images you want to install into this map too. ( Take one which is able to boot in Flashmode)
Then you gotta open up a command window. My path to the map is C:\SDK\Platform-tools, to get to the map you use the cd command, like this:
cd C:\SDK\platform-tools
then first of all make sure you got a backup of all your images etc. just in case....
in the command window type,
adb reboot fastboot
then these ones (all seperatly):
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
After it is done succesfull you can type
fastboot reboot
You can try to be quick and allready press the volume down button to boot in flashmode.
Otherwise you gotta turn off your phone and try it again.
Hope to hear it works....
Xperia devices use FTF files for flashing. I don't have the stock boot.img and I am unable to get it.
I extracted the FTF but I got lots of sin files. I don't know how can I create boot.img from these.
Do you have any idea about it? Or if you have boot.img for Xperia D2302, please post me link for the same.
Thanks for the reply.

You don't have to extract anything, load whole ftf in Flashtool and leve unchecked Kernel (if that's what you want to flash) you'll flash only Kernel.

What's the problem? What Windows you use? Does your phone get recognized by pc(do you have all drivers instaled)? Do you have PC companion installed?
If you do, there is power off button by the sim card, press it then try to connect usb while holding volume down.
Try to repair your phone with PC companion. Then see if the problem is solved.
Good Luck!
Xperia M2 D2303 on K.K. 4.4.4
Yes. The phone is being detected by PC. I am able to get into fastboot mode but not in flash mode.
Pc Companion is installed. I am using windows 8 64 bit. Drivers are installed properly. I tried repairing the phone with pc companion but it is not detecting the phone while repairing.
May be the boot partition is corrupted. What recovery are you using? If you are using cwm then can you send me the boot.img from the stock rom cwm backup?
This may solve my problem.

Hi Dzepar,
After a long time am reverting back. I am still facing the same issue. The boot image that you sent is not being installed. It's saying "not a valid boot image".
Are you still using M2 Dual?
If yes, Can you send me a fresh CWM backup of your ROM so that I can make my phone usable. Please.

How to downgrade from 7.1.1 to 6.0 ?

Hello
I've been having many issues with my Z5 after upgrading to 7.1.1 , can you tell me how to get Android M back ? I'm new to sony devices and I don't know what to do.
Thank you
You have to downlad a program called "Flashtool" and the correct ftf firmware file for your Z5...
The newest Marshmallow build ends with 5.11 and you can download with a integrated program XperiFirm...
http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php
install flashtool
install the flashtool drivers /Flashtool Installation Folder/drivers/Flashtool-drivers.exe
open flashtool or flashtool64 (for 64 bit systems)
click the XF icon
select your model from the device list, then search for your a ftf with your region (I always use "Customized AU" even though I don't live in Australia...)
downlaod it
then close XperiaFirm and press the "flash" icon
flashmode has to be selected, press OK
select your ftf file you've just downloaded
tick everything to wipe (APPS_LOG, DIAG, PERSIST, SSD, USERDATA)
ticking USERDATA will reset the phone which is recommended for downgrades but not needed for upgrading
press flash and now connect your xperia via flashmode
(turn off the phone, while connecting it to your pc keep holding VOLUME DOWN until the phone is recognised and a green light appears!
wait until the process is finished (flashing system takes a while)
unplug it
power it on
done

Install the Xperia companion program for the PC, plug your device in normal mode without turning it off, let the drivers install (you'll get a notification in the task bar), after it's done, unplug and then connect your phone in flash mode (hold the volume down and then connect it), let the drivers install, when done, unplug and replug it in fastboot mode (hold the volume UP then connect it), let the drivers install for one more time.
Now disconnect it, open your flashtool program, load the FTF file, tick the boxes in Wipe, including SSD if you don't mind getting your data erases (I recommend erasing your data but make a backup first!), Then click start flashing, when the flash tool asks you to connect your device, hold the volume DOWN then plug it, a green LED should light up and it should start flashing your device.
