Touch Developer Preview Release Notes
General:
This is very alpha version of Ubuntu Touch. IT'S NOT READY FOR DAILY DRIVER. This is mainly for those curious souls like me to see how it runs on this relatively old device. There are and will be bugs.

If you plan to install more apps, space is a bit limited as it's using phone's internal memory instead of sdcard ext4 partition hack. There's approx. 200MB free in /data after extracting Ubuntu's rootfs.
Everything that I forgot / haven't noticed.
Prerequisites:
Have at least 1GB free on your sdcard prior flashing.
Have some experience at tinkering with your device. I won't be giving further step-by-step guidance as this is experimental thing, be a little experimental yourself.
7Zip and notepad++ (or equivalents) for updates from Ubuntu's mirror
Fresh installation instructions:
Want latest rootfs? Go to update instructions.
Download quantal-preinstalled-armel-ace-20130303.zip
Download quantal-preinstalled-phablet-armhf-20130303.zip
Download ubuntu-ppi-ace.zip
Put the files on sdcard.
Check that you meet the sdcard free space requirements.
Reboot to recovery.
Do factory reset (ie. format /data, /cache, /sd-ext and /sdcard/.android_secure)
Flash quantal-preinstalled-armel-ace-20130303.zip
Flash quantal-preinstalled-phablet-armhf-20130303.zip (this will take a while due two large extracting tasks)
Flash ubuntu-ppi-ace.zip
Reboot and enjoy.
Update installation instructions:
Download latest quantal-preinstalled-armel-ace-XXXXXXXX.zip (optional if you are just updating Ubuntu rootfs)
Download latest quantal-preinstalled-phablet-armhf.zip
Download ubuntu-ppi-ace.zip
Open quantal-preinstalled-phablet-armhf.zip with 7zip and go to META-INF\com\google\android\
Right-click updater-script and click Edit (make sure you have proper editor set as default, e.g. notepad++).
Do these changes to the script file: https://gist.github.com/Mustaavalkosta/5123952 (make sure you have correct timestamp instead of leaving XXXXXXXX in it) and save the file.
Close the editor and 7zip should ask you if you want to update the file in the zip. Of course select yes.
Put the files on sdcard.
Check that you meet the sdcard free space requirements.
Reboot to recovery.
Flash quantal-preinstalled-armel-ace-XXXXXXXX.zip (optional if you are just updating Ubuntu rootfs)

Q&A:
Q: Can I flash KangBang perfomance kernel or some other kernel?
A: No, unless it includes required kernel changes.
Q: How can I build Ubuntu Touch myself?
A: Follow Ubuntu's guide and apply my local_manifest. Then just fix quantal-preinstalled-phablet-armhf.zip's updater-script (see update instructions above) and you are good to go.
Q: How do I shutdown the device?
A: Pressing power button continuously for couple of seconds seems to switch it off but since there's zero userspace feedback about this happening I prefer the options below from Ubuntu's wiki.
Currently the power button does not work with recent kernels, so one of the following options must be run:
remove the battery and replace it
run adb reboot (will obviously reboot, not shutdown)
run "reboot -p" from the adb shell

I just got wifi to work. You can add /system/etc/init.d/21bcmdhd script with something like "modprobe bcmdhd" in it or wait for me to upload updated build on top of the current one and reflash. I'll add edit to this post when it's available for download.
Edit: Re-upload done on quantal-preinstalled-armel-ace-20130303.zip. Just reflash it and you should have working wifi.

I do not believe it, but it works!

Well... I tested it. There seems to be a lot that's not working, but the basic interface works just fine. Nice to be able to try out the gestures and interface.

Try more like a couple of months since that is the time that the devs of the Ubuntu said it would take to get it fully working and then the devs for our DHD can have a go at it. Until then this is just a dev preview.
Also, very nice to see this OS ported to our device in such an early stage. Thanks Mustaavalkosta, hope you assemble a good team once this OS is out of development stage and I wish you have success in getting it to work on the DHD. :good::fingers-crossed:

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Before posting on this thread, make sure of a few things:
You've utilized the search function of the forums. Nothing irritates us more than lazy people who do not search for an answer before asking or ask the same question over and over again.
If you are the only one having a problem: boot into recovery, wipe data/factory reset, reflash the rom/gapps and nothing else. Boot up and see if the problem persists.

If you have a hard reboot (to the vendor boot logo, not the LineageOS boot logo), use adb or any other file explorer tool to pull a copy of "console-ramoops" or "last_kmsg" after the reboot and provide that.

Note: If you install a package which replaces the default dialer (mostly "Stock Gapps") you have to go to Settings->Apps->Gear-Icon and set the new dialer as a default telephony app to prevent force closing of apps

You or someone else has to tell me. I don't own this device. It does work on the sm-t525 that I do own and test on.

Dirty flashed about an hour ago from your 12.1
All ok (data working, wifi working etc etc) but I'm plagued by constant pop-up saying
Unfortunately Google play has stopped working
In fact if I try to go into my account > Google or open play store I just get a blank screen. Tried everything ordinary like clearing data and cache for Google play store and services but it doesn't fix. I will leave clean flash as last resort.. If someone has an idea on what I should try please shoot

You probably did not flash 6.0 gapps when you upgraded. You must do that when you first install a 6.0 based ROM. AFAIK, you will need to factory reset or go back to a 12.1 backup and try again installing the new gapps at the same time as you flash CM 13.

I managed to save my ass from clean flash.
Wipe dalvik/cache/system/internal
Flash at the same time rom+opengapss Micro +xposed +supersu
Before booting, Mount system and from recovery file manager delete cmsetupwizard folder
Boot
Profit.
I will give my feedback tomorrow or the day after.

I have a problem with the trebuchet launcher.
In main screen I cant change to landscape forma.
Is it normal that I cant change the look of the trebuchet app drawer? Thats looking just terrible. Hate it

It formatted as external, detected, mounted at /storage/716D-1303. I can explore it with root browser. I can see the status bar notification "SanDisk SD card for transfering photos and media" and explore the card by clicking on this notificaition.
But no app can see it. ES File Exprorer shows only the internal storage. Gallery can't see any pics from the external SD. When I connected to PC as MTP, I can see only the internal card.

Just installed the 0220 nightly with OpenGApps. Everything seems to work great (but I didn't test radio yet). Thanks to crpalmer for your work!
However, I've got one problem: The contacts apps does not display my contacts, and on the Google accounts page in settings, contacts aren't listed. The phone app and also two differrent contacts apps from play store don't see any contacts. Gmail, however, uses my contacts when writing a new mail. Notes, calendar and so on synchronize perfectly.
Any ideas?

Try to use this GAPPS. It can work with AOSP Contacts or Google Contacts.

This is a LineageOS 14.1 rom for our Lenovo A850. This is NOT MY WORK, I found it on this russian forum/post. All creadits to the developer. This is a pure android 7.1.2 and not a looklike rom.

Bugs:
- [not tested] Camera focus may be buggy.
- There is no system space for installing Gapps. I moved webview as user app and then installed pico.
- Magisk / SuperSu installation not working
- [not tested] Xposed libraried
- Can't always get into recovery using both volume and power buttons (go through the power menu)
- When in the recovery and rebooting into system the phone closes (unplug the batery and reboot it)
- Reboot just powers down the device
- [not tested] Grenify causes bootloops
- You can fix the IMEI with Tool Hero (the update of MobileUncle), after that uninstall it.
- I face mobile data problems (data work whenever they want)...
Instructions:
0. MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP! This ROM doesn't do well with you NVRAM... You will probably need to restore your IMEI, your Serial Number would be lost, your Mac Address etc. So... backup.
1. Make sure you are on ROW format. You can check this from your "Baseband version", it should contain/say ROW or CN. You can flash this ROM first to move to a ROW format (taken from this tutorial). You can always replace the "recovery.img" file with this recovery.img that i have cooked (English version). Can also be flashed over "[MM 6.0.1] Unofficial Cyanogenmod 13".
2. Download this file (LineageOS 14.1 rom), put it in your SD (source).
3. Boot into your TWRP recovery, wipe Dalvik / ART Cache / System / Cache / Data, and flash the zip from you SD. Installation takes a lot of time.
5. Boot phone and BOOM, Android 7.1.2!!!! (boot takes a little too)
6. To enable root access or reboot to recovery, open Settings->About->Tap "Build number" many times to unlock Developer Options->go back->Developer Options->Check "Advance reboot" and change "Root access"
IMEI Problems/Fixes:
You can fix the IMEI with:
- With MobileUncle (follow these steps)
- Tool Hero (the update of MobileUncle), after that uninstall it.
- Else... if you don't know that you can run IMEI&SN Writer V1.5.3, flash this ROM and try to run it (setup drivers etc). Then FORMAT the phone (with flashtool click format,auto), and flash (click download this time) this ROM(the same with the first link), and then change the IMEI etc with IMEI&SN Writer V1.5.3.

It worked fine and very smooth for one day until i started using Link2SD (since phone's space is way too small). After some failed linked apps (after changing a SDcard) i started having problems and many apps crashed (not the linked ones!). I am going to reinstall the rom and clean everything and i will report back.
But the first day was really really good. I was able to play StarWars Heroes, which i was not able to play with the CM 13 rom (was too laggy).

It might also be a problem with link2sd itself, I was using it without problem on this phone with cyanogenmod (android 6) and in one of the last updates it blocks the phone.
A quick solution when the phone is not booting (my case) rather that fully reinstall, is go into recovery, terminal, cd /data/apps/ and delete link2sd .apk. By doing that the phone booted normally, so I would blame a little link2sd. There have been some updates (of link2sd) afterwards, but haven't tried them.

Just a hint if system space is so limited: opengapps has the possibility to uninstall/replace system apps by custom script.

You can, for example, remove eleven, gallery, screen recorder... and then maybe there is space for a pico flashing

Yes probably. Anyway the biggest problems with this roms is that the IMEI is lost. Now I can't restore it. I have driver problems connecting it to the PC and not the time to fix it.

If not, does anybody have an idea where to get a recent Android for the A5500-F ROW MT6582 that can be downloaded without too many hoops to jump through? Why can't people post straight links?

Sir, this thread is for Lenovo A850 (plain). It will not work on A5500 or anything other than A850.

Problem is, some posts (even on this site) say A8-50 and A5500-F are the same thing. Heck, even Amazon's bill from back when I bought it calls it an A8-50. A list of all A8-50 variants and how to tell them apart would be helpful.

There is only one Lenovo A850.

Has Anyone manage to install a stable lineageOS on a Lenovo A8-50 A5500H or A5500H

I´ve been looking though the sites via google, but cant find anything definitiv about running Lineage on A5500 modells with chipset MT6582
Kernel: 3.4.67.
Works fine with Kitkat but I can get som apps to run on it since they dont support Kitkat anymore .

ROM INSTALLATION
*NEW USERS: Unlock bootloader and flash latest TWRP using fastboot
1. Boot into TWRP (Power + Volume Down > Select Recovery Mode)
2. If clean flash, wipe /data, /cache, /system
3. If you'd like to have f2fs, format /data (your internal SD content will be lost!) and /cache to f2fs.
4. Proceed into flashing ROM (install ZIP or sideload)
5. Proceed into flashing other ZIPs if any.
6. Reboot system. First boot takes about 10-15 minutes. Be patient ​
SIDE NOTES
- If you were to install GAPPS, well... I did say that you'll have to figure it out on your own.
- Builds are rootless, you have the option to install Magisk on your own.
- Builds are not tested on Nexus 7 2012 3G variant. I doubt if they work anyway.
- Signature Spoofing support is yet to be added :3

Nice rom, but without play store Is useless. Secure patch are old, i Hope you Will update. For play store i tried to install with magisk,with open gapps (gapps-config) and manual but nothing. Dt2w work , battery Life is good(i would to try with store).anyway thanks for keep alive this old Beast.
Rom doesn't keep app permission (i Always give storage permission to kiwi browser for download apks)

I will look into that soon.
I have quite a number of stuffs coming up these weeks, thus will put this aside first.
For GAPPS, I still yet to try install GAPPS, thus I wrote that you guys are to figure it out on your own . But as a tip for you, previously when I'm using RR Nougat, I removed a lot of foreign fonts, TTS files, sound media files, and was able to get pico opengapps installed successfully (I didn't use gapps-config anyway).
As a suggestion, you can also try to have the GMSCore installed as user app (in /data partition). During the days when I'm using Samsung Galaxy Ace, we used to have the GMSCore installed on /data.

@TureX I can't reproduce your problem regarding app permissions. Can you reconfirm this? I've tried Kiwi Browser from Play Store too.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Now i can't reproduce cause i format the tablet, maybe was corrupted my installation that cause that issue. Sorry for my bad English.

Development discontinued
Was quite busy lately, didn't even have time to relax browsing on the nexus.
Few days ago left my Nexus 7 aside in my book rack after fully charged. That time I have personal modified gapps installation installed.
Not sure if is my gapps configuration is not proper, it caused the tablet to overheat. I just noticed it when back home from work at night. So literally GMSCore is using my cpu for the whole day (surprisingly not wakelocking). Whole tablet hot as f*.
Left it charge, the next day after unplugged, using it for few minutes, then sudden blank. Cannot even charge. Total dead.
Suddenly yesterday it boots, but has symptoms of emmc failure (as I recall it now). That time not sure what happened, not even have time to look on it.
Today finally back home early, can check on it. Factory reset 2 times all sudden reboot when wipe. Highly confident is emmc failure. Try flash stock, write failed when flashing bootloader. Baam, Nexus 7 is total dead again.
Will try to reheat the chip and see if it revives, as the overheating seems to be the culprit. If not, then it's an end for Nexus 7's DotOS :| so sad :crying:

Wow, that's quite a lot of them! But thanks, I've decided to continue building for Samsung Note 1 only. As I rarely use my Nexus 7 (in fact I didn't bought it but I get it free from someone).

Switching motherboards takes like 5 minutes and is a simple task! Just saying because 6 month ago when mine broke due to the emmc bug and I paid around 25 Euros for another one (even was a 32GB from Hynix)...
So think twice about this offering!

Flashing Instructions:
Note: Your device must have TWRP installed.
First time installation:
1. Wipe System, Data, Dalvik/ART Cache, and Cache (format data if your previous ROM was password protected)
2. Flash the ROM corresponding with your LG G5 variant
If you chose to not use Gapps install the Gcam-Services-Provider app.
3. Reboot
Update installation:
1. Flash the ROM corresponding with your LG G5 variant
2. Wipe Davlik/ART Cache and Cache (optional)
Note: I highly recommend checking if zram is properly allocated. Download the RamTruth app and make sure swap is 3gb, if not you must clean flash to fix it.
Bugs/Issues
1. Gapps not working
2. No Wifi Calling, 5ghz hotspot or VoLTE (don't ask about it, it's unlikely to ever work as LG/Cell Carriers have locked down the VoLTE drivers)

GCam Config
For Best results an xml config for GCam is Highly recommended
1. Download the config attached to this thread.
2. Open File Manager and create a folder called GCam then inside that folder make another folder called Configs8.
3. Open GCam and double tap on the black area next to the shutter button and press restore.
4. Your Config is now selected and will become the default settings in GCam whenever you open the app.

How to pass SafteyNet
Within Magisk select "Systemless Hosts" to add the module
Enable "Enfore DenyList"
Select "Configure DenyList"
Tap the three dots in the top right corner and enable "Show System"
Find and Select "microG Services Core" then toggle "com.google.android.gms" and "com.google.android.gms.unstable"
Open the "microG Settings" app and test SafteyNet
Most apps requiring SafteyNet should now be working.

Hello, is it possible to get a version of this ROM without MicroG pre installed? I'd like to try and use MindTheGApps instead in order to attempt to get some level of GApps working, and I'm not sure I can flash directly over MicroG.

Unfortunately Gapps are broken on crDroid right now so Gapps won't work properly. That's why I added microg, it's just a work around.

Interesting. Didn't realise it was currently broken on v7 (never used v7, currently running MTG jut fine on v8.4 on a different device). Thank you for the information.

Update
A Play Store workaround has been figured out. Go to this link and install Aurora Store it's an alt play store app and has the same apps as the play store. It is also is much faster on older devices. Learn more on their XDA thread.

i dont have any flashable zips for kernel but its called SwanKernel and its from the v20 forum. What variant do you have i can try and send your a boot.img

i have the h830 but what can i do with boot.img i mean is it flashable in twrp ?

Yes you can flash it in twrp. Just select install. Install image and select the boot.img and make sure you select boot image when prompted. You could brick your phone if you don't.

You could but they are different kernels. Lineage uses the stock lg kernel while my crDroid uses swan kernel. Which has battery and heat improvements

Hi, does it work?
Issues i found with this crDroid Rom is, that double tapping does not wake up the phone (but there is an option for that) and the phone immediatly went off at 5% battery when i started the cam app. I thought that the phone should shut down slowly, right?
So maybe i have to reformat the battery or something to work correctly with this rom?
Btw. why do this rom has Go Gallery when it is degoogled?
