What?
Lets you control the music from your edge.
How?
1. Download and install the app
2. Go to the edge overview panel and open up the configuration page for the new installed panel (click the pen)
3. Click the button ("change notification permission")
4. Allow "Edge Player" to get access to your notification (If you don't trust me you can clone the project and build your own version)
5. Return. Now the checkbox "Notification Access" should be checked.
6. Enable the panel If you updated from a previous version, you have to disable and reenable the panel. A restart might also be necessary
7. Start your favorite music app and control it from the side

Thanks! Did you post an update to the first app posted? If so I'll download that and test it out. Currently on the dropbox link you posted a couple days ago, the control buttons on the bottom work great, but tapping anywhere else on the Edge Panel does not launch the app.
Edit: My bad. Realized I have 1.0.

Try deleting app data for the edge player itself.
For me that helped.

Gives me album art bit controls dont work on PowerAmp. This is after reboot...
Would be cool to swipe album art up or down to volume up or down...

**Update**
Some have noted that this version of the apk only plays local music (music stored on your phone) so I played around in it a bit and found the fix
First, before installing this apk you must remove v3 if you've got it installed. Install this apk and when you open the app it will tell you you're in offline mode only, and will likely ask you for permission to access your google account, go ahead and accept it then close the app.
Go to settings/apps/manage apps and clear data for the app and reopen it. Once in the app, press the menu button, settings, then press "select google account" and pick the google account associated with your Google Music account then exit the app. If you phone is setup to auto sync, I think it'll then sync automatically but if you're like me and don't have your phone set to autosync, go into settings/accounts & sync and tap your google account then tap "sync music" and you're good to go
**Update 10.13.11**
I noticed shortly after installing this app that I was no longer able to add contacts, I got a FC anytime I tried. I didn't realize it was due to this app initially....so today, after a fresh install, I downloaded and added the Google Music app from the market and got the same problem. Not exactly sure what the conflict is but my work around was to revert back to WB v3.5 and get the app setup on that rom, then flash v6 on top of it. After doing that, no more FC's on adding contacts and the app works fine. Just a heads up.

Have you tested this before posting? It's only the barebones music player, no connection with your gmusic account, the player doesn't even have equalizer. Looks like someone repacked music 1.0 and called it 4.0

My "test" was confirming it works, which it did. However I didn't notice the lack of connection to your Gmusic acct as I didn't do anything besides ensure it installed and opened. Lesson learned

Great to see Scilor's at it again! Agree about the UI, could use some clean up work, and you might want to resize the pictures. At > 500kb each, they're a bit big to load on mobile.

Just took some printscreens on my ZX and uploaded them. Sorry about that ^^
Did have any problem loading the page on my XZ, but then i realized that it got LTE
Also, Scilor's just maintains the core while I'm the one who writes the app, maintain and update it.
Almost all servers that the app uses, is at my apartment

Not sure what you are saying. It won't let you create a playlist without having a login. But it won't let you get one.

You can search and then log-press on songs to get a menu that allows you to do stuff like create a playlists.
About logging in, you probably just entered the wrong username or password. We currently don't have any way to
check if the username and password is correct (we don't get any response from Groovesharks servers) so we'll just
have to assume that the login was successful

The app seems to be working great but I can't permanently remove the apps notification from the status bar. Not even a long back press to force quit it works. I have to freeze it in titanium backup. Anyway to quit out of the application appropriately?

There is such a bug on some songs, we'll fix that in the update coming in a few days. But that's only for some particular songs, wright? If this is happening to all the songs, then it's possible that the source is closed in your country, for example we had to remove the app already from Italian Play Store, cause the source is banned in their country...

Notification is removed, when you press the pause button in there, we made it like thatm so the music wouldn't stop, when you accidently clear the notifications... If not, please write back, we'll try to fix that!)

I was skeptical about using your app but decided to try it out and Im glad I did. I was able to find songs ive been looking for but haven't been able to find before :thumbup: great app

This is one incredibly sleek looking app.. Good job!
May I ask how it obtains the mp3 files? You could always program it to use VK.com. They have an incredible collection of mp3s.
EDIT: After some searching for obscure song titles and seeing them in the results, I can only assume that this app does infact uses VK.com (or?)... Which is awesome
EDIT2: Incase you're still working on this app, maybe I suggest a feature to disable the built in player? To avoid any ongoing notifciations, etc. Getting the mp3s downloaded is good enough for me, maybe a "open" button to open the downloaded mp3 in any audioplayer.

Sadly, the app is no longer in the Play Store...( It was removed, so we have to stop our work on that, and you can enjoy the apk stored in here.

Hello XDA, I'm the developer of a new Android app called Billy. It lets you browse and listen to the most popular pop/rock/dance songs currently.

The songs list is grabbed from Billboard.com, which is one of the most credible sources in song popularity charts. Songs are then streamed from SoundCloud. Apart from listening to songs, you can also watch the corresponding official YouTube video of each of those tracks and have a look at the most popular albums of artists.

Quite nice. Note: There are several of these on Play with more feeds, but awaiting more feeds here. UI is quite navigable.
Since the screen is quite sparse, used Xposed Appsettings to show more songs. Lower "DPI" and magnified font size to compensate so still readable. However, tab-bar now covers half of the title bar. So ... might suggest the number of songs/pane be adjustable and scaled within the app rather than from outside (anyone tried this using Paranoid's DPI settings?).
Might also embed a simple youtube player rather than rely on that app being around (since there are alternatives and many of us do not keep it).

I'm supporting your app, I'm even going to recommend it to my small reader base of a local spanish Android blog we're starting, hope it gets you a bit more users and constructive feedback.
My Opinion: Is pretty good as a discovery app, I'm having no errors luckily. A way for autoplaying the sections (playlist?) would be nice. I also backup the Deezer/Rdio/Spotify linking idea. Great job man! I like your app.
I'm having the same trouble like everyone else. And it can't play the YouTube video without a YouTube app.

Yes, it happens with a few songs because SoundCloud is not providing MP3s for them. I'm trying to fix this.
Next, I think I made a bad generalization that everyone will have the official YouTube app. I'll have to fix this one too.

Related to but I reported using Xposed Appsettings. Actually in expanded mode as well.

WHOOPS:silly:I didn't see that and i too use xposed appsettings...but i keep my phone's default dpi at 145 then upscale systemui.apk and nova launcher to 160 . then its all ok but it cuts the actionbar text for only billy when i enable expanded mode

Everything seems great so far. I guess my only "requests" would be if it would be possible to edit the ID tags of the song when downloaded, or have the option to adjust them on download. Also, on the search screen, would it be possible to show the artist as well as song name? If you search a title, it's pretty much guessing which artist you're looking for. Besides that, nothing to complain. Works well and straightforward!

This app makes downloading SoundCloud songs easy, But it's still downloading at the lowest quality 128 kbs like other downloaders.

To answer your first request, yes I'm planning to add Meta data editor in future updates. Now coming to the second question, you can search for the entire title of the song along with the artist name to get best results as it is already implemented. Keep in mind that these songs are fetched from the public library, so in case you can't find any track you're looking for, then chances are it's copyrighted or premium content (DownCloud excludes that).

Hey, thanks for the feedback.
I'm afraid it's the limitation in SoundCloud's API (streaming or downloading only at 128 kbs) itself so there's nothing I can do about it.

Also on my Nexus 4 running Nitrogen OS on Android 7.1.1 (I still haven't had time to update to 7.1.2).
Update: It would seem that there is a problem with the XDA Labs APK, I had downloaded it from the OP and it functions properly for me.
