Hi guys, can anyone confirm which baseband is currently on Nexus 5 being sold in Brazil? Or even if anyone has tested which baseband works best on Brazillian carriers?
I am currently on M8974A-1.0.25.0.23 and my internet connection is intermittent, the "H" sign is always there but it just stops working and i have to put it on airplane mode and back to get it working again.
Thanks for the help

The Nexus 5 only has 2 models. D820 and D821. There are only a handful of basebands available. They are not regionally differentiated. I don't know what model you have. Lets pretend its D820. The Brazil sold one is exactly the same as the US one. No different baseband.
Also it's worth noting that you could have someone else in your country, even in your town with the same carrier and experience completely different results on the same baseband. All you can do is try them all for yourself. Its not even helpful for you to share your results for the above mentioned reasons.
Hi there.
I have just got a used-N5 on the Internet. It is a D821 (for Indonesia market I think).
Everything is fine except the LTE connection. (2G and 3G connection is normal)
The LTE problem is:
The searching speed is slow.
Even if LTE is connected, the response time and connection speed is extremely slow.
I have taken out my SIM card, and insert it into another N5 (D821) right next to this phone.
The speed is 10 times faster.
I am using CSL in Hong Kong, which the LTE is band 3 and 7 (1800 / 2600).
Baseband is updated to the latest version.
APN setting is correct.
No matter which ROM and kernel I use, the LTE problem exists.
Anyone have idea how to fix it?
Thank you very much!

Questions belong in Q&A.
Every D821 is the same, every D820 is the same. There are no specific regional versions for a D821.
The ROM and kernel have nothing to do with your network connectivity.
Try flashing a different radio version.

Excuse me, do you mean try flashing a different baseband version?
I have tried the one comes with Kitkat (4.4.4) but no luck.
I know every D821 should be the same, but I just wonder why under same configuration (ROM, kernel, baseband), but the result is different.
I suspect if my D821 is a remarked D820.
Thanks.

Yeah, radio and baseband are the very same.
With the exact same software, the result can be different because not every device is made the same; the perfect Nexus 5 does not exist.
The only difference between a D821 and a D820 are the LTE bands it can access, everything else including the 2G/3G bands are the same. If it was actually a D820, you'd probably get no LTE at all, unless your carrier supports one of the bands a D820 can access; it would not mean you get "slower" or "worse" LTE performance - you'd either get it or you wouldn't.
It might just be a hardware issue if you think it's slow.

I believe it is a hardware issue as well
If someone on xda give me a hope then I don't need to bargain with the shop
Thanks :good:
Hi all.
Last night I have brought it to the shop and tested there.
The LTE speed is very normal... I cannot trigger the problem by any means...
I suppose it to be the signal reception issue.
I left the shop and found the speed might be somehow dropped, but it could be still considered as normal.
I went home, re-flash another ROM and prepare for normal use.
However, the LTE becomes abnormal again...
I have found an interesting thing.
I have flashed stock ROM and OEM LOCK before bringing back to the shop, and it is normal speed.
I went home, OEM UNLOCK and flashed a custom ROM, it is abnormal.
Now, I have just re-flash the STOCK, and the LTE is not so normal.
But after OEM LOCK, it seems to be fine.
I believe there is no relation, but is it possible the OEM LOCK to do with the LTE issue?
Thanks. :crying:

Bootloader lock/unlock state has absolutely nothing to do with your issue.
The ONLY difference between having it locked/unlocked is so you can flash images. It does NOT affect anything else.
I am a web programmer. I always suspect something strange when something cannot be explained (bugs in coding, I mean)
I have tested several times today. Locked bootloader still gives a poor LTE result.
I really have no idea why there is LTE problem...

Again, bootloader state affects nothing but the ability to flash images.
Yes I understand.
Just trying everything to find out a reason...
I've got verizon m8 with "Unlocked 4G LTE" off ebay, and I'm trying to make it work on t-mobile US.
The problem I'm facing: everything seems to work (LTE included) until it loses the tower (because e.g. I'm moving between towers). It then gets stuck with one bar signal in the status but no actual connection, and it's not even trying to reconnect.
Resetting network by toggling airplane mode on/off brings signal back.
Phone is soff/rooted/supercid with latest firmware (6.21.605.3).
What I tried so far:
- changed sku_id in default.xml to TMOUS (and LRA_US, as set by s-rom)
- tried to flash att and wwe radios - no signal after this, reverted to stock
- enabled all cdma and lte bands in qpst
- tried latest s-rom and viper
- tried different options for "preferred network type": gsm/wcdma/lte, cdma/evdo/gsm/wcdma/lte etc
Nothing helps
any hope or time to get rid of it?
thanks
my issue is identical to yours lol. bumping for attn, still no solution ive been able to find. if something helps you, please share it here

spent a week on this and gave up. Best solution is to sell and get a used t-mobile version :-/ Just did this and t-mob edition gets a much better reception in addition to not losing towers.
I saw multiple people claiming to be successfully using gsm/lte on vzw m8 and I'm really curious if it's something I missed or there is some kind of different hardware involved.
Hello guys,
I have a you yureka plus phone which I bought a week ago. I'm facing network problems with it since the time II switched it on. I am not able to get network coverage and therefore very less Internet speed in my home whereas my older phone gets amazing coverage and very high internet speed.
I have contacted the sim card operator and they weren't able to help.
I tried almost all possible ways to get rid of the problem.
I tried the *#*#4636#*#* thing.
I tried changing different apns.
Rooted my phone and tried different custom ROMs and kernals.
So far global ROM miui v8 is the best one as it gives network bars but the internet speed is stilp very low compared to the other phone.
I flashed a different modem file found here in xda but that also didn't work.
I'm out of ideas and I'd really appreciate any help.
Sim cards- jio and tata DoCoMo
Current ROM - global miui v8 based on android 5.1.1
Kernal - velocity v10.3
Thank you.
Hi !
This seems to be a device specific issue , maybe your network doesn`t match the device basebands , try changing them from settings/prefered network type and also get in tuch with your provider about this
Cheers !
i tried all the options in the preferred network type with no success. my provider said there's something wrong with phone's software and he couldn't help with that

Are you sure that the phone supports your carriers bands ? You may find that you are only able to get 3g or only have one or two of the bands that your carrier uses
Regards
Sawdoctor
I'm sure it supports 4g, because I get good 4g speed in my workplace. I'm having this problem only in certain areas like my home and college. How do i check the exact bandwidth capabilities of my phone?
I finally solved the problem i encountred with my mi mix 2s regarding LTE & 4G Bands and connection .
I just flashed a modem.img file extracted from the lasted rom posted on xiaomi.eu
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/9-3-28.49842/
i just used this command on fastboot
fastboot flash modem modem.img
After rebooting i got the LTE signal working correctly.
Just give it a try if you have the same problem
Thanks
Which baseband version do you have after that? Which network provider do you use? Thanks!
I have a Mi Mix 2S, M1803D5XA, 8/256GB model, bootloader unlocked, running Global Beta ROM 9.3.28 with baseband version AT4.0c2.6-303-0325_2303_ea9c837. The network operator is Telefonica/O2, the service provider is 1&1. LTE coverage mostly B20/800Mhz, rural area.
After losing 4/LTE connection, my phone does not reconnect automatically with the available 4G/LTE network (B20, 800 MHz). I have to change the default preferred network settings (LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS) to "LTE only" or "LTE/CDMA/UMTS (auto) PRL" and only then the phone reconnects to the available 4G/LTE network immediately. Rebooting/restarting the phone also helps to reconnect. So I think I have to restart the modem to trigger a reconnect. If I just put the phone on the windowsill and wait for it to reconnect the modem sometimes seems to "freeze". The phone indicates a 4G/LTE connection (four out of five reception bars), however, there is no internet connection. Again, rebooting/restarting the phone helps.
Also, if the phone has to switch from 4G/LTE to 3G or 2G it does not aggressively try to reconnect with "better" networks. "Upgrading" the connection to a 4G/LTE network takes quite some time.
I wonder why the default preferred network is "LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS" anyway because there is no TD-SCDMA network in Europe. I think it should be "LTE/CDMA/UMTS (auto) PRL", again, I don't know whether this is part of the problem or just irrelevant.
I noticed this issue mid-January-ish, I do not know whether it can be linked to the Mi Mix 2S' SAR value issue that was discovered by some French authorities ...
Thanks,
Lars
Being totally frustrated led me to reverting my Mi MIX 2S (M1803D5XA, 8/256GB model) back to the Chinese Beta ROM 9.4.12 yesterday evening, completely wiping the phone and locking the bootloader in the process.
Today, I've tested the "reconnectivity" a few times and surprisingly (?) the phone now works as expected, or at least much better. After completely losing the 4G/LTE connection inside a building (this was also expected) the phone immediately reconnected to the available 2G network and then to the available 4G network upon leaving the building with almost zero lag.
Chinese Beta 9.4.12 comes with baseband version AT4.0.c2.6-303-0409_2210_8fadd5d.

Same on my side - yet another updates and still no luck!
The only solution for now is to downgrade ROM to anything from 2018 because problem started in early 2019 ROMs
still not solved...
even some reported that the issue should not be there when using an custom aosp rom... but i had an calldrop/caller didn't hear me anymore today on my test drive with resurrection remix rom! as soon as i use another phone, tested huawei p30pro, galaxy s10+ or even the simple nokia 81104g i havent had an single issue with call dropping on the same route!
it also make me belive that after flashing ah new rom (after ah wipe) it looks like that it is working.. but after a day or a few days the problems start to appear?!
I believe I'm still having this issue whereas in certain areas I'm losing coverage and my phone won't regain services for a very long time. It's predominantly happening at home which is very frustrating. Has anyone found success in resolving this issue? I'm on Verizon and looking for any help possible.
