How to I use the camera timer? I think I'm too stupid. I change the timer in the camera settings from off to 10 seconds. Then go back into the camera, but when I click the shutter button, then pic is still shot right away. Nowhere is a timer counter in sight. Am I blind? Or does it work differently?

shutter button
when I use this feature it looks like you see in Screenshot.
Timer is in the shutter button
That's odd! I also have the missing counter when setting a timer. Must be a (custom) rom thingy I guess
I have the stock Rom C636B170...and no timer counter in the shutter button... So is it a bug?

strange - i have Stock C432B170. And the counter is shown like seen - my Post before.
Hi,
Any fix for this?

I've been a long time user of the android camera app, touchwiz camera was downright amazing.
I recently flashed a cm10 based ROM and have been playing around with the camera and have some questions.
1. Do you need to tap the screen to focus every time you want to take a picture? My past cameras had the constant block of auto focus so you could just wait for the green and snap. Or does the tap focus only pertain to the spot you want to focus on?
2. Is there a macro mode?..perhaps this is 'flower' mode?
Finally...anyway to turn off the shutter sound other than silent mode? This ones not anything major I just figured I would ask. Thanks guys!

No, you don't need to tap the screen to focus every time. If you move around to different points in camera mode you'll see the screen zooming in and out to focus on the point in the center of the screen. I think the tap is to focus on a point off the center of the screen (taking a photo of someone while their not centered in the screen)
There is a macro mode. When you open the camera there's a settings button right next to the negative zoom slider. After that there's a 3 button settings right where you just clicked, and in there you'll find macro/burst, and all the other extras.
I haven't seen a shutter sound off option yet.
Thanks! I am still unable to find macro..I did find the burst shot which ranges from 5-20 shots. However I don't see macro listed. Maybe I'm just missing it. If you are able could you upload a screenshot of it please? Thanks again!

You're welcome. I can't make a screenshot whenever I try it says that my storage is in use (assuming because camera is open) but if you go into the settings like I described before... the 4th one down gives you "focus mode" that's set to continuous.. click on that to the right and you'll find macro in there.

The AOSP camera is definitely lacking compared to the TW one.
That being said here is an ongoing project to add more features to the AOSP camera in order to make it closer to TW:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746611
I do miss the TW camera, but camera isn't a deal breaker for me to remain on TW... I see more benefits using aosp instead.
Thanks for the link, I'll be sure to bookmark it and check back periodically to see if there's improvements. I see in screenshots its able to store on extsdcard which is nice.
You can easily get rid of camera sounds renaming the sound files from CM -> media -> audio -> ui
just rename the camera files and video files with ending .bak and reboot your phone. After every update you have to do it again.
One of my favorite is
Whatsapp lime Facebook chat or viber is open phone silence vibrate only and when the program is close phone normal

Some of the profiles I use often are
Scheduled text message - Mainly for birthday wishes at 12 AM
Open Music player when headphones are inserted.
Data on when wifi is not connected and when I open apps which need data.
Use Proximity sensor to move to next photo when I open QuickPic or Gallery. This one is cool since you don't need to touch the screen. Just wave your hand and it will move to next photo.
When I open Map and not connected to WIFI, data on, Gps on, screen time out to 20 mins and increase screen brightness and time out.
When I press powerbutton during my sleeping time, say time.
And my fav one is
Shake left and right to toggle flashlight. Very handy since I've to use flashlight now and then and I don't have to search for a widget or setting. :good:

Groovy. Didn't work so well with my Note II, but I'll try again after cleaning some smudges off the screen. Just tried your trick with the flashlight. I can see why it's your favorite. Awesome setup.
Not sure if its just me or if anyone else is experiencing this issue
As you can watch this video, it takes forever for the camera to take pic and then processing it..
If I close the camera app before it thumbnail goes to the top right corner, it seems to just delete itself..
BTW, Im on CM11s rom, running franco kernel, in case anyone wants to know...
Thanks for any help..
You're using HDR mode that complies multiple exposure settings to get you the best pic. It's always slower than non HDR mode.
That looks horrible.
HDR mode on my nexus 4 works a lot faster.

First pic was in auto mode.. you can see after I focused on the car, I hit the shutter button... 3 secs later, sound and then another 7 secs later the pic gets taken.. I then swiped to the different scene modes
but regardless which scene mode, does the same thing... really annoying.. tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times but same thing...
not sure if theres a similar topic, but Ive noticed an issue with saving photos after they are taken, it takes couple minutes or more for them to show in gallery.
if I take a photo, and go out of the camera app and enter gallery, the most recent photos wont show.
But if I go back to camera app and swipe right, it will show them there.. wth?!
Try downloading the latest version from play.

Hey so I use double tap to launch camera all the time. And more and more I am having to wait on the camera to focus. (Viewfinder is blurry) tapping on the screen to focus won't do anything as well. I just have to wait for the camera to focus in. And it could be mere seconds or so but the delay is there and ita annoying. Anyway I can eliminate this issue or may have a defective device. I have already factory wiped and cleared cache and reset settings in the camera.
Did u peal the plastic cover from the camera lense ?
Turn off auto HDR.

I have the auto hfr on and no delay what's so ever ...
Hi is there any way to bind the double Tap feature to any other App?
Double tapping the volume key from lock screen fires the camera and takes a picture. How can I stop it from taking a picture so it only launches the camera app. I'm on the B106 firmware on a Middle Eastern unit.

Open the camera app and swipe from the right edge. Scroll down and you'll find it.
Definitely not there. Maybe because of an older OS? Attaching the screenshot.
You need to disable pro mode first to see this option.
