I've been at this for a while and can't seem to get TWRP to install. I've rooted the phone with the W8 Autoroot, but the TWRP installation seems to just mess the phone up. I have to Odin back to stack CKOC and start over. Which version of TWRP can be installed using Odin safely?

VRLHE modem (CWM zip): link removed, my hosting is nonexistent. Luckily http://rootzwiki.com/topic/34053-of...zon-sgs3-sch-i535-odin-or-recovery-flashable/
I grabbed the update.zip from my phone and applied only the modem patch, then used dd to extract the modem. Since I didn't get this from a full Odin there's no Odin version.
Speaking of update.zip,
VRALG7 to VRALHE OTA update.zip: http://www.multiupload.nl/S7PHZONUGG
for dev/curiosity purposes. Obviously its original filename was update.zip.
I have the HD ROM that I flashed via ODIN and when I try to install the HE zip, it gives me an error saying its looking for version G7 (which was the last OTA). Anyway I could easily go from HD to HE? I know a lot of other people on here are also using HD.

No, I haven't tried Scott's HE version yet in CWM.
I haven't used one from him before, but I'm wondering if it also resets the phone back to stock, having you to reinstall apps and settings.

Actually, I'm wondering if there's a real difference between HD and HE.
The support docs on the Verizon site that lists the new features in HE, such as zooming in the email app, which will expand or condense you email list, is actually working in HD. The build date is a month different, so makes me wonder if HD could of been the tester version, and HE is the release version.
im more of the mindset of it is not jelly bean i dont care ill test the modem out but i probably wont use the rom

Download this file, extract the two files from there and flash the tar file in ODIN (you will lose root and revert to stock firmware but everything will be working and you won't lose your data).
Link Here
After doing that, do not reroot yet. Download the first OTA, let it finish. Then there will be a second OTA bringing you to VRALHE version. After that, root via this method: Link Here and install CWM again from ROM Manager.
I did that same process coming from a Deodexed VRALHD build yesterday.
thanks, it is killing me. the update is silent so you don't even know that it's doing it until it reboots while i'm listening to music.

[GUIDE][4.3]How to have stock permissive kernel w/o having warranty bit label at boot

It doesn't work anymore on newer 4.3 Firmwares (MJ9 with Changelist:1986587 and newer)
Hello friends,
I found a solution how to have stock permissive kernel without having warranty bit label at boot. In my approach I will explain you how it works.
→ IT WILL WORK ONLY WITH STOCK KERNEL
-> flash newest 4.3 firmware
-> root your S4 using CF-Auto-Root
-> install ES File Explorer or another root file explorer you like
-> remove Samsung KNOX manually ! (see my DE-SAMSUNGNIZER Script which apk's or folders you must delete)
-> install Universal Init.d Support and start the app (Click me)
-> enable init.d [if have problems by enabling init.d, you must have BusyBox before using the app]
-> download this script and copy it to system/etc/init.d using a file explorer
-> set the permissions to 777 (rwxrwxrwx)
-> reboot and enjoy your permissive stock kernel without having any labels at boot :good:
→ Video demonstration ←
Thanks to:
@Chainfire for CF-Auto-Root and SuperSU
@Ryuinferno for his great App
@everyone who motivated me :good:
Once again outstanding work Kaito95 Thank you. I've been using @Ryuinferno UnitD app for awhile. He is an outstanding developer. Thanks @Chainfire as well for making this all possible. Great easy steps for permissive kernel.
Not Working
Im on 4.3 complete upgrade using QBkings video, KNOX completely removed and Init.d enabled with CF AUTO root installed.
as per your OP i moved the txt file to system/etc/init.d and changed permissions as mentioned in your OP.
rebooted also, Triangle away shows counter:21.
Im on 4.3 Galaxy S4 Sprint SPH-L720
Got it figured out.
Counter Set to 0 and
system Official thanks
will it work with S4-I9500 variant also??

[ROM][UNOFFICIAL][2/3/14] 4.4.2 Kit Kat BAKED [D800] - USB TETHERING WORKS!

Hello and welcome to the unofficial thread for Baked Kit Kat 4.4.2 D800. Thought I would try and fill a gap here, I am a device maintainer for Team Baked on the LS980 (Sprint) but am also going to be contributing as device maintainer for the d800,d801,d802, eventually the international and d803 versions aswell. I WILL NOT be maintaining for the VS980 as Travis is maintaining that device already. I don't have this device so you guys are going to have to be my testers to make sure everything seems to be in working order.
How To Install:
Make A Nandroid Backup In Your Recovery
Wipe Data/System/Cache/DalvikCache
Install Rom
Install Gapps
Reboot
As I have asked in my other threads, please don't have 20 people reporting the same issues if there are any, it's just annoying!
Update: 2/2/2014 - After spending a few days sorting out issues, we come one step closer to finding a solution to our problems. I was having an issue with my test build getting through Setup Wizard but after noticing the problem, there should be no problem.
We simply just need to update out beta gapps is all.
A quick little change log for you guys for the 2/2/14 build:
A lot of stuff is always added so I won't always be able to set out the full list of changes
Navigation Button Color Picker Added
USB Tething Now Works (Thanks acardinal)
If you aren't updated with the T-mobile theme engine, we merged the fully themable phone dialer *Inverted*, Desk Clock, and Stock Email to source
If you need Gapps for now until we get ours up and released try these: http://goo.im/devs/bevigilant/pa-gapps/
NOTE: SOME OF THESE ISSUES ARE SUBJECT TO DIFFERENT VARIANTS OF THE LG G2 AND COULD BE AN ISSUE FOR ONE OR ALL OF
THEM, I CAN ONLY PROVIDE A CHANGE LOG FROM WHAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED FOR THE SPRINT LG G2 AKA LS980 BUT IF THESE WERE ISSUES ON YOUR DEVICE THEY SHOULD BE FIXED NOW ASWELL, IF NOT, CONTACT ME ASAP
Update (2/3)
Setup Wizard No Longer Force Closes After Skipping Activating Mobile Service
In About Phone Section Build Says 2/2 but it's really 2/3
If your internet doesn't work right away via the Play Store just do a reboot.
Known Issues
Have to select Language 2x in setup wizard
Carrier Settings causes a meltdown of force closes

I use 915f but you can try...
When using odin to flash recovery, untick the AUTOREBOOT option. When done, after pass appear, just remove the phone from cable and remove battery. Put it back to phone and reboot recovery. It worked for me...

Today I successfully upgraded to 6.01 (using ODIN and ROM from Sammobile - N915FYXXU1DPE1_N915FYOXX1DPE1_SEE)
Afterwards I also succesfully rooted my NOTE EDGE with TWRP 3.0 and SuperSU as discussed in this thread. So this is it - rooted Android 6.01 on SM-N915FY. And it works like a charm!
Thanks!

Great!
I have installed MM on my N915FY, Rooted and Xposed with X-Touchwiz module. Installed Nova Prime as launcher and WOW!! its rapid compared to touchwiz launcher, makes the phone so much more usable due to the screen size and dpi..... Everyone should try it you won't be disappointed!

Hi there!
I'm reading this very interesting post because I'm on a SM-N915FY. But, the TWRP for this phone is on a .IMG format, and not on .TAR.MD5 so I couldn't flash it through Odin.
I tried CygWin to convert img to tar.md5, but in Odin, the MD5 Checksum seems 'corrupted'.
So, where can I download a TWRP 3.0.2.0 with this .tar.md5 format? Or maybe I did wrong with the conversion!?
Thanks a lot for your help
V.

Root the Official firmware you have, don't forget to do a backup first.
Use these instructions for root -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/general/root-root-sm-n915fy-t2985411
Just follow the instructions for Xposed -
You need this file - xposed-v85.1-sdk23-arm-custom-build-by-wanam-20160530.zip
from this location - http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3180960

Hi thanks for your help. I am using the XFV region and i am on android 10 2.1
I did download the correct firmware using gija or frija whatever you call it, i jave soft bricked the pgone around 4 times and used the OEM firmware to get it back in working order..
Hmm. Soft brick? Are you in a bootloop? I have successfully flashed 3 different region firmware on my device and rooted them all without issues. I am in United States At&t

If you have upgrade your device to S3 or U3 that may be the problem. The root guide i posted was for S2 or U2 bootloader.

Flash with Odin in AP slot. I would do a factory reset first. After flash install Magisk Manager follow prompts.

Hey guys, sorry if this is an annoying question but do we expect TWRP to be released for this device at all? Any idea if its currently in development? I was thinking of grabbing a note 10 this week and will root it in the future.

Did you solve your issue?
I used to build custom rom and TWRP/clockworkmod (if anyone even remembers what it is) back in the day... I just bought this Note 10 Lite so I want to test it further before tripping the Knox, here if you trip it there will be no more warranty.
If after 3 months and no one has made TWRP, I'll do it it's fairly simple, mostly just fstab and kernel build, much simple compared to a full-blown AOSP-based ROM

Is it possible to install firmware in different regions and root it? I inserted pix of my system and its rooted. 2nd question, what is the different installing a firmware in a different region? Just curious.. by the way, can't load pix. Here's my build number QP1A.190711.020 N770FXXS5BTG9
Yes it is possible to flash a different region firmware. I live in the United States and there is no US version of the 10lite. I use it on At&t. My 10lite is Hongkong(TGY). I have flashed Arab Emerites,Spain, Panama, rooted them all without any problems.
