Sprint Galaxy Note 5: RTSP & HTTP Proxy Locations. - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

So in an effort to get EMIT working on my Sprint Galaxy Note 5 I've obtained the MSL, entered ##DATA# (##3282#) to bring up the programming menu and have to no avail tried to locate the RTSP and HTTP proxy settings. I'm running Android Marshmallow. I have no interest in rooting the phone and am simply trying to get the applications that do not work with the Sprint proxy working.
Does anyone know what menus the RTSP and HTTP proxy settings are in now? Doing a search has pulled up a lot of out of date threads that reference menus which do not seem to exist anymore.
Thanks,
~ J

Someone told me that with marshmallow they took those settings out from the menu

Maybe we can bypass Sprints Proxy locations by editing these files.

Configure default DNS, possible ??

Hi,
Would appreciate your help >
I've got a GT-P6211, so the Plus model without 3G.
Is it possible to configure a fixed DNS (for instance Google Public DNS), so that when using public Wifi Hotspots this DNS is the default nameserver when surfing the Internet, instead of the DNS offered by the Hotspot ??
BTW, I found this app in Google Play called 'Set DNS': any experience with this ??
THANKS,
V.

Just some suggestions...
In Settings> Wi-Fi
After you are connected to an access point, long press the name of the access point and select Modify network config. Check Show advanced options and you can switch IP Settings from DHCP to Static. There you can set DNS.
You could also try adding the following to the bottom of your build.prop
net.dns1=8.8.8.8
net.dns2=8.8.4.4
Excuse my ignorance, but what is/where can I find build.prop
Unit isn't rooted, hardly possible either I believe.
THANKS,
V.

Well, you need to have root access. I don't understand why that wouldn't be possible.
The build.prop file is located at /system/build.prop and you will not be able to edit files in /system without root access.

Not if the wireless AP you are trying to use has anyone knowledgeable about setting it up. Its firewall should prevent you from bypassing the DNS and only allow you to use the DNS it is setup for. Why would you want to do this? I can only imagine ....

Many thanks.
Even if I knew how to root the device, I understand rooting involves serious risks, hope to find some solution without this.

I will donate to whoever finds a universal fix to enterprise wifi PEAP security

I'm a student at the University of Texas and I'm trying out these custom Touchwiz roms on my Samsung galaxy s4 sprint variant. I'm enjoying them a lot however I'm unable to connect to my university's wifi with these roms. If someone can please find a universal fix to this issue I will donate and support you.

Not interested in your money, thanks. I'm guessing you need to install a certificate, which is usually provided by an open network - have you tried to contact your university's IT department?

Yeah I actually tried to install the certificate, but I don't know how. http://www.utexas.edu/its/help/network/1077 I will contact my University's IT department and get things situated. Thank You.

I contacted my University's IT department and they didn't know how to install a certificate on a mobile device. By any chance do you know how to?

For my university, it was provided after you login (using your university credentials) to a page you could access from the "guest" Wi-Fi network. I'd try connecting to that (I can see one in the screenshots) then navigating to any page - you should be redirected to the login page.
Once you're there, you'll hopefully see instructions. If I remember correctly, though, it's very simple: you just need to click the link to the CA and it'll ask you if you want it installed (if that doesn't work I think you can download it to your SD card then go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Menu > Advanced > Install certificates.)
I didn't see anything about proxies in your university's help pages, so I'm guessing you don't need to configure a proxy to be able to connect correctly? You'll need to ask a friend who's got a successful connection or the IT department for that.
PS. One of the help pages says this:
"In the Trusted Root Certification Authorities list, select Thawte Premium Server CA."
This is probably included already, but may be disabled in your system. Go to System Settings > Security > Trusted Credentials and make sure it's there and enabled.
I tried to install the thawte premium certificate and it failed. It was already pre installed on my phone. I used the android certificate install application because when I tried to install it through the setting it wasn't able to find it.

connect to EAP WIFI with API 18 (JellyBean 4.3).

Log.i("WIFI", "My wifi"+ wifiConfig.status);

wfm.enableNetwork(networkId, true); // this initiates the connection
WifiEnterpriseConfig enterpriseConfig = new WifiEnterpriseConfig();
wifiConfig = new WifiConfiguration();
wifiConfig.SSID = ssid;
wifiConfig.allowedKeyManagement.set(KeyMgmt.WPA_EA P);

enterpriseConfig.setIdentity(userName);
enterpriseConfig.setPassword(passWord);

@GermainZ do you know how to configure API 18?

There are two other solutions that I've yet to try. I was wondering if you could guide me through those methods. I tagged you in the threads.

No idea then. Just to make sure, you're not connecting at all? Or are you connecting successfully but can't browse the internet? In that case, are you sure you shouldn't be using a proxy?

You'd use that if you want to program an app yourself.

I'm not connected at all. What it will do is it will scan, search for ips, try to connect, and then recycle.

[Q] Accessing This Forum Only Via Proxy Website?

Hi
Is anyone else facing this problem. I was able to access this forum before via normal web browser. But from a few days back I just am not able to open this forum. It just doesn't open. So I used a proxy free website and was able to open this forum webpage. Am using my internet from home. Using via a proxy website I am not able to use the post buttons like attachments and insert link.
Anybody else is facing the same problem where the web page is only opening via proxy webpage?

May i asked if i has may be blocked in your country?
I am pretty sure that it is not blcoked in my country. Also I had been accessing this forum for last few months without using proxy, only from this month it's not allowing me to access this forum. In the beginning I assumed maybe xda-developers site was down. But than yesterday when I used a proxy and I managed to access the forum, I realized that somehow I am getting blocked from using this forum without using proxy webpages.

Yeah most probably that must be the reason. As when I was using Win7 I was not able to access this forum, but than I rebooted my laptop into my secondary OS (WinXP) and there is no problem. I am able to access this forum without proxy website. So as you aptly said , maybe there is a virus. Will have to reload a previous backed up image and see if it works.
Thanks for your advice.

Anyone know any possible fixes?

This happened to me when I rooted. I restored the phone and it started working again. I'm waiting to see an ATT specific root thread and then I'll try again. BTW I used towelroot. If you are rooted, did you use the same? Maybe the two aren't connected, but they coincided for me.
Dark , I had this issue after installing adblock. Did you do the same?
Well I went back and rooted again with towelroot, mms worked - so it's looking like adblock - I had that installed previously and I could not install mms. Did this work for you?

The issue with adblock has existed awhile based on a topic in their bug forums . The problem is adblock blocks port 80 for mms . There isn't a way to set a white list for adblock .Most users try to get around it by changing their apn settings with mms as port 8080. This "fix" hasn't work for me , but if anyone is interested in a similar app to adblock ...check out adaway on Fdroid. It has the same function and more extensive options for a whitelist . You can even log an app's ads to decide to black/whitelist.

Changing APN setting MMS port to 8080 worked for me! Thanks!
Omg. Thank you OP. I came to deliver this same message. I just got off the phone with att because changing apns wouldn't work at all so 4 days I'll hear from another att tech that'll ask me to reboot. So it looks like I need to stop using adblock! Thanks dudes!!

Missing URL

My gal and I have a T-Mobile LG V10 she says her URL is gone. I personally have not looked at it because I am not qualified to get into it. Is it possible that it is hidden and not missing? If anyone can help please contact us through the proper channels. Thanks, DirtyHarry55
Umm a URL is a weblink that you type in the browser if it's missing just enter in the proper URL
