I'm looking for a kernel or ROM that supports it. I flashed EX kernel but dosent seem to work for the 6.0.1. I plug in my otg y cable and hook up my charger cable and my led charging light comes on but the charging icon dosent show on my battery , like when its charging normal.

nothing?
I think its not a kernels problem cuz its available for me. I guess its OS setting and the issue of cable.

Heyo guys, I've got a problem with charging my Nexus S.
When I'm using the ac adapter to charge my phone, but it is always showing in the battery menu "not charging". But if I use the USB cabel to charge it by plug it in the PC, it works.
Only sometimes it works with the charge kit, but I don't know why it does not sometimes.
Also, while it's charging with the adapter, the battery drains.
I hope that I'll get a quick answer

Try another AC adapter for nexus s and then check, may be your one is not working, if if does charge through data cable then one thing is clear that there is something in the adapter
same problems for me...
I have same problem.. the only way I can charge is to turn off phone and then insert power chord. Then phone starts off and charges. but when its already on, the phone does not charge with usb or wall chargers. I have tried multiple of them and I think its slimbeans 4.2.2 issue on nexus S.
Would it be better to go to ICS or other ROMS? or is this hardware problem for sure?
Regards,
Sachin

i have been on slim 4.2.2 since the first beta and my
NS charges every time i plug it in...

I bought a new one and it doesn't work either. For now, only charging with the USB port works.
I tried the cord that came with the tablet, and my other USB cables - same results with all. My Note Pro won't charge via USB at all - when I plug it in battery status says "not charging" and it keeps discharging, while idling with screen off. Only AC adapter works and battery status changes to "charging". Any ideas?
You can't charge the tablet off s usb port. Draws too much current. Some motherboards have an option to turn on a special charging function for a usb port, but if you had that you would probably know.
Your stuck with the wall charger.

Besides Not Pro I've had Sony Xperia Tablet Z for a year now - it charges from USB just fine. I never use AC charger with it...

Stock kernel on the Xperia Tab Z must have USB charging enabled. This is an exception rather than a norm I would think, with OEMs probably choosing to disable this as a safety measure (or so i've read).
Until a custom kernel is developed for the Note Pro we'll probably not see charging over USB.
The problem is still the max output from the USB port, which is 5V 0.5A , you'll notice that the charger for the this tablet is 5.3V 2A.
I'm an electrical engineer not a computer engineer, so I'm not sure how a kernel would change the max output current supplied by the PC. This has actually piqued my interest, I'm going to do some tests and see how much current the port can push. I'm betting the data lines on the plug send some information about what's being charged.
Maybe I'll build an adapter that that let's the tab pull a full 2A from the port.

Does it make a difference if it's USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 port?
Normal USB 2.0 is 500mv, USB 3.0 is 900mv. Some motherboards can push this up to 2000mv, usually a red usb port

The nature of my kernel comment stems from my Nexus 4 experience with a custom kernel which has a setting to enable usb fast charge (Franco kernel with his FKU application).

This review says Note Pro 12.2 can be charged via USB - it's just slow. As I mentioned in the OP - when I plug it in via USB cable the battery status says "not charging" - could it be it's actually charging, but due to low current the device itself doesn't recognize it's being charged?
Just plug it in for a few hours and see if it increased your battery level... done.

It kinda works - with tablet completely idle and screen off it charged about 4% in 1.5 hours via USB 3.0....don't think that's helpful to anybody. Hopefully, someone finds a way to push more current through USB 3.0 port. Would be nice to eliminate the need to use AC charger.
I had mine hooked up to my laptop (Asus N76VB), it didn't charge according to the indicators (neither do my TabPro 8.4, Tab 3 and Tab 2, nor my TF700T), but the battery didn't drain either while I was using it. It stayed at 56% for 5 hours whilst browsing, which it really wouldn't do normally. USB 3.0, no additional settings enabled on the laptop, all Sync and GPS turned off on the tablet.
My TF700T literally said in the manual: "Charging from USB can only be done with the device turned off." I'm sure that applies to these tablets as well.
On the upside, my 15600mAh aSolar powerpack charges the device! :victory: (It can't charge my Tab 2 or TF700). I'm really, really pleased about that!
Does the Nexus 5 support host mode and charging, simultaneously? Does it need a kernel patch? Is the patch available yet?
Thanks.
Haven't seen any kernels with this here

I'm running franco kernel 3.4.88-franco.Kernel r54. I received my OTG+Charging cable just the other day and it worked without any additional changes. However host charging seems to be a bit slower than just a direct charging (with my cable, the device doesn't seem to go into AC charging mode).

Turn on fast charge. You need a kernel tweaker app like Trickster Mod.
#AndroidL
Just enabled it in the franco app, will let my phone discharge some and see if that does the trick
Edit: This doesn't seem to have helped any. Half the time the phone doesn't even seem to recognize the charge from the OTG Y cable, or the charge voltage through the cable is only enough to mitigate some of the discharge. The cable only seems to be able to give about 400mA when it does want to charge. I think the cable is bad.
Is this possible with ElementalX kernel?
I have a problem.. everytime i plug in my phone to charge, its using standard charging. EVERYTIME. When that happens, I restart my phone which fixes the issue.. All cords are plugged in fully. I just dont understand this...
I had same problem just changed charging cable and fixed problem...i try connecting it again the note 5 charger after few days but still with cable charging and no go still using note 4 cable on note 5

Their has to be a problem with the Samsung usb cables. Both of my Samsung fast chargers only use normal charging when using the Samsung usb cable. But when I use a different usb cable fast charging works every time.

Thats ridiculous... so youre telling me that we bought a $750 device and expected that everything inside the box would work properly but instead some or all of the samsung usb cable is faulty?
Send it back for warranty?

I mean if the usb cable is the problem
Wouldnt the issue still persist...? I dont see why i would send my phone in to warranty..
I know I have usb cables all over the place so it's not really a issue for me. Plus I have a fast wireless charger also which works great too.

Hi, i recently flashed the Cos 13 ZNH0EAS260M rom my opo TWRP 3.0.2.0
Now my phone is charging very slowly. It shows 15hrs for full charge even after having 30% battery.. And the battery goes down when i am charging and watching a video.. I also tried charging with the phone switch and still no luck.. Its charging very slow..
So is this a software problem? Or a hardware issue?
Edit: i checked the amperes i am getting while charging with the oneplus one charger using the oneplus one cable. Its not going more than 250amps.. Can anybody help me with this issue??

Solu:
1. Try Changing Carger cable ( I am using xiaomi USB cable) or charger
2. If you are ok with Root - switch to boeffla kernel - apply charging twicks from boeffla config app.
