No service or activation at all with global carrier - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

Hello,
My Sprint Note 5 seems to have an issue with activation, in the stock ROM, it keeps trying to do the Hands Free activation thing, but fails at "Reporting Firmware version", I sometimes see some service available but only at rare moments, and I did have wifi available if that matters.
I tried another ROM that doesn't have the Hands Free activation, and although I don't see any activation error, I don't get any network service at all.
This is all using a carrier outside the US, how can I restore connectivity and service?
Thank you.
EDIT: Seems like the problem was with the MM ROM, downgrading to LP fixed the issue, no problem with any network so far.
Hands free activation still won't work, but it doesn't matter and I just removed it from the system.
I guess http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...al/fix-signal-update-flash-to-6-0-mm-t3345709 would have solved the issue too, but I think some download error made it not work for me and so I skipped it.

[Q] Bought used phone, won't activate with new sim from verizon

Hey M8 crew!
New to the M8, just bought the phone from swappa. Apparently it has root/s-off/some lollipop build installed on it. Clean ESN.
Took it into verizon to activate it on my line, but the sim doesn't appear to activate as they expect. It detects that it was inserted, says to reboot, after reboot still says no service, and never performs any activation. Verizon rep was claiming that the rom was causing the failures, and it does appear to likely be software related if it is never launching the activation. VZW tech support was no help other than saying it may take up to 12 hours to activate the sim (bs meter going off). Spent 2 hours in the store trying to get it to activate, saying everything was fine on their end. Tried a couple sims in store to rule out a bad sim. Have even tried the tape on the sim trick to see if that might have something to do with it.
Has anyone ever seen / heard of this sort of situation before and have any idea of how to fix it?
Would a stock RUU flash help out in anyway?
Is it because it is not a verizon rom that the activation is not happening? Would I somehow be able to use a different verizon phone to activate the sim, then put it in my phone and have service start working?
Any ideas?

If the phone was used on another carrier it might be stuck in a non lte/CDMA mode. Flash stock vzw ruu. Do a factory reset. Go into mobile settings and make sure it's set to global. Then see if default network is set to vzw. Then check provisioning.
That did it. Thanks!

[Q] Cellular modem and NFC unstable

Hi,
I hope someone could help me save a useless phone.
I got a Z3 from ebay (it's O2 Germany). As soon as I turned it on it updated to 5.0.2.
Then later I inserted the SIM card (took me some time to get the nano from the carrier).
It's not SIM locked.
The problem is that I can't get a steady signal. AT ALL. It hits a signal for 2 sec, then nothing.
It can recognize my carrier in the split second that it's on, I got the access points and all. I can even search for carriers and get a list of several to choose from.
The same phenomena is apparently happening with the NFC - the software switch turns on then straight off (same radio chip issue?)
I have tried GSM only, WCDMA only, LTE.
Tried changing the bands used using the internal *#*# menus.
Using flashtool I have flashed a stock global rom instead of the german. And local stock.
I have read that some people had this issue after the lollipop update so I rolled back to stock 4.4.4, same issues with cellular and NFC.
I'm really at a lost. I have this fancy brick that I was hoping to give my dad (he needs the screen size, the old fool) and instead I'm wasting valuable time at work trying to fix it...
Anyone?
Thanks,
Juv.

I got the exact same problem, im in Norway and using mye Operator firmware..
I'm having the NFC problem. I have the US T-Mobile version (D6616), and NFC stopped working right after I updated to Lollipop.
Factory reset, and repairing using Sony's PC Companion does not help. On first boot, i'll get a "NFC firmware update failed (-1)".

verizon s6 on belgian network

Hello! I'm studying in Brussels for a year, and brought my verzion galaxy s6 to use, because some preliminary research led me to believe that it would work on the networks here. I got a sim card yesterday on the BASE network, and so far, have been able to make and receive texts/calls, but have been unable to use mobile data. Also the "activating your phone, dont turn off message" was up for the last 24 hours. I ended up restarting a few times, and the activating message is gone, but still no data.
I was wondering, if someone more knowledgeable than me, could tell me based off the BASE bands, if the problem has to do with network compatibility.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base_(mobile_telephony_provider)
If it's not a network connection issue, then ill try my luck with BASE tech support (My french isnt great, so I want to make sure it's not my fault before trying to go down that road)
Thanks for the help!!
Fixed the problem. Turns out the galaxy s6 along with some other phones, requires manual configuration in order to enable mobile data.
if anyone has this issue in the future

SM-G935U stuck on OMADM "Checking Device Status..."

Ok this is a long one. I have an unlocked Samsung S7 Edge running SM-G935U firmware (G935UUES4BQG1).
This morning both my wife and my phone stopped being able to call out but everything else worked. After much suffering (2hrs+) it turns out that disabling and reenabling google voice (which is no longer supported by Sprint since WHEN??) fixed it for her.
However for me after a ##78726# to force reprovisioning, my phone is stuck w a notification saying "Checking Device Status..." from Sprint OMADM. Nothing progresses on the phone and customer support is saying nothing is happening on their end. We've tried all sorts of things to no avail.
I'm thinking that there is something about the unlocked phone that Sprint's provisioning process doesn't like.
In the meantime I've got a very expensive tablet with zero cel services.
any ideas??
BTW been a customer of Sprint for 19 years. Amazing I keep putting up with this.
also
not sure if this is relevant but in the past I had to self configure my APN to get data/LTE working.
I tried using the settings here https://apn.gishan.net/settings/1429_21_sprint_apn_settings_for_samsung_galaxy_s7_edge.php
but it didn't help the provisioning standstill issue.
I have the same issue going on with my sprint Samsung s9+. Wondering how to fix it? It keeps saying its checking device?
I have a s8 Active here in China Sprint model. I removed SIM and went through set up then i put in my sim. Everything is working. I forced stopped that app and everything seems to work. I'm sure it will come back on reboot however. I'm ok with that.

SM-G930F "Not registered on network" after updating ROM

Hi all,
Phone was working fine but after upgrading to Android 7 I'm unable to place calls. it says "Emergency calls only" and when I try to place a call I get " Not registered on network".
- Phone was working fine prior to upgrade
- Tried different ROMs and got same result
- Tried another SIM card. Same problem.
- Used my SIM on another phone. Works fine
I read somewhere that this has something to do with the modem certificate and that the only way to fix the problem is by getting a Z3X or Octoplus box to connect to the phone.
Can anyone shed some light on this? I've been messing around with it for the last couple of days but still no luck...
Thanks in advance!

I don't think it's like that. It may be, but it's not sure.
If OP said that phone was working properly before the update, I think that his EFS partition's got messed up.
If you have a total TWRP backup or an EFS backup, try to restore it.
If you still have no luck, your only option is Octoplus Box or such things.
Second hand phone right?
Mine is second hand phone, as well. 930S. Have had the same issue when I've flashed to 8+ ROM, and moving from no cell coverage area and then back into cell service area. I'm able to to a service search and it will find the towers and upon selection will connect back up.
If I flash to a different ROM, about same issue. As long as I remain in service area does fine. Skip out of the area and I may have to re-search.
I'v flashed different CSC's, no change really, except when I flash an AT&T CSC, then it seems to stay locked on a bit better, though with AT&T CSC I am unable to enter phone codes, so I went back to 'stock' (Korean phone Chinese regions). Stock has no CSC directory present in the root/system directory, which is interesting. I leave the Chinese regions unchecked and the phone finds local towers, US west coast, AT&T networks, T-Mobile, etc, just fine, overall. It's just on very weak signal or no signal that I may occasionally have to do a re-search when I'm back in a coverage area.
Your's sound much more a PITA.
