I dropped my phone, It fell out of my pocket in the gym today.
Now there is a red spot visible on the middle right screen link. I also noticed some light bleed from the left side. Can I fix this myself somehow?
I find it weird because the screen glass is in good condition, could the screen itself be permanently damaged?
It's pity as I still love this phone, and now it's damaged..
Thanks in advance
Yes, the top glass could be perfectly intact while screen beneath is damaged. I have seen this many times on Samsung phones that have been dropped.
Can't really either screen issue unless you replace the LCD.

So, few days ago my Touch pro(GSM) started with this weird issue. It looks like a circular spot <1cm diameter. It looks like pressure is applied to the display from back of the display. I tried to take photo when I disassembled phone and tried to resolve this, but display is glossy and camera cannot properly focus :-( spot i located in place where there are hatch(door) mechanism on back. When I dissasembled phone there was nothing causing pressure. I found out that if I press corners on diagonal axis spot disappears. I think that back of the display is arched in some way and pressure on chasis of phone press arched back againts lcd crystals. It happened when I was wearing my TP in jeans pocket. So first thought was that some stich in pocket, or something was presing againts display, but I am almost sure that this is caused by pressure on body of phone. Its night here so I will see tommorow If dissasembling, tinkering with screwdriver helped, but I dont believe this much. Question is: Did someone experienced this kind of issue? How do you resolved it? Will buying new display from ebay help?(I think yes, but there is possibility that display is ok and body is deformed in some way)
Thanks for your time.
Does it look as an oil spot?
Try to raise the membrane with vacuum or sticker and you'll see,if it disappears for a moment.
If so,I am affraid, you have to replace display/digitizer.
I got this oilspot on one of my Himalayas.
Also touch isn't working on this place, anywhere else is working, but after raising the membrane.
Well, I am 100% sure that digitizer is ok, because spot was on display. Touch functionality was ok but display was having strange colors and after disappearing light yellow tint in place of spot. As I took apart my Touch pro, I was ok with buying new display so I looked how old si attached to the case and bended it a little. Spot disappeared and display is still ok and I consider it repaired. Maybe it was really only the bended back or it was one of those self repairing defects.
Woke up this morning, check texts on my G which works fine, pocket it (front left pocket, screen facing my leg, nothing else in there, loose fitting pants), go to work, check it about an hour later, can't undo my screen lock, touch screen is acting all wonky, I'm not even touching it and I keep seeing wrong input over and over... so I turn it off and back on, but I still can't use the touch controls on the left part of the screen (the left and center row of the lock screen doesn't respond, the right most one does, and the very bottom emergency calls does).
So I carefully inspect my phone, there is not a single mark on the screen, bezel, back-plate... the phone is in pristine condition, I take good care of my electronics (or so I thought). I start checking the screen against a light at various angles and on the bottom, slightly under the lock screen dots, I see a very thin line under the glass but above the screen, starting at one edge and going about halfway across. Like the touch sensor is partly cracked, but nothing else is?
So I was wondering, does this count as physical damage? I don't see how it could. As I said, the phone is pristine and I can't imagine how I could have damaged the touch sensor without leaving a mark on the glass, bezel or screen.
But I'm still worried that Futuretel, which is where the Motorola people are telling me to send the phone will call it physical damage and have me fork over 150$ for a repair I could do myself for 50~60.
And I would do it, had I actually broken my phone... But I didn't, so I don't feel I should pay for this at all.
Hi guys,
I have replaced the screen in my nexus 5 twice now. I purchased the screens from Amazon. The first screen on white backgrounds I would kind of see a square image on the screen in white. It kind of looked like the outline of the battery. It also had a few white spots on the screen. I tried loosening some of the screws but it didn't help. I contacted the seller and he recommended another replacement. He sent out another screen plus digitizer and frame.
The new screen arrived and I put it in. This screen is a lit better. I know only get 3 tiny white spots about the size of the screws in the nexus 5. Two look like they are where the battery would be inside the phone. The third is about 3 quarters of the way up the screen in the middle and slightly to the left. Why does this keep happening? Anyone got any ideas on what could be causing this?
One thing I have noticed is in the dark with the screen on around the sides of the phone in places I can see slivers of light shining around the screen. It seams that the tape that the screen provider used was not sticky enough. Could this be what is causing the white spots? The screen seams firmly attached at the top and bottom just the sides. I heated it up with a blow dryer and held the screen down till it cooled. It slowly goes back to the way it was.
Thanks,
Rocky
Light bleeding from the edges of the frame in a dark environment is not uncommon with 3rd party screens. Putting on a case can help a lot.
As for the white spots, it may be a manufacturing defect that has nothing to do with the way you assembled the phone.
So there is nothing that can be done about the white spots? I don't understand how both screens did this. Seams like there is a very high failure rate. From comparison and matching numbers s to the stock digitizer the replacement seams to be a stock digitizer and frame. The white spots are annoying.
It's possible that both screens came from the same production run. I used screens from aliexpress and only one had a bit of light bleed around the frame. Once I put on a case, you could not see the light bleed.
None of the replacement screens had any dead or stuck pixels or hot spots.
I never even noticed this before but I read a thread about it and than I looked at my phone and there is a barely visible light bleed above the light sensor like if it's just light barely peeking thru the glass it's not on the display. It's where the top bezel above the front camera meets the frame. Is this something I should b concerned about. It's only noticeable in the dark. Is it it defected or is it normal.

I have it too with my s8+, there is a little dot on the left side of the device where the plastic connects with the screen.
It's a production variance - you could argue it shouldn't be like that, but you'll never get a perfect phone due to variances in the tolerances during manufacturing... Mine has it too along the side (as did my silver S7 Edge before it).

But will this affect water resistance or is this jus light peeking thru glass

That is a very good question

Depends on if its just light from mossing paint or an air gap.
The front glass is glass so its see through, and then there is a black flim/coating put on it. Then it is glue to the frame of the phone.
So if a piece of the black coating got messed up then your get light showing.
Now if its not glue down all the way and there is a gap then the water proof is gone.
There was a guy on xda that got his coarl blue s7e and one corner was missing some of the blue coating.
I have this light bleed over the iris scanner and the front camera. Then I searched where it comes from. I saw if I had a white screen (for example settings) and a high brightness a big light bleed in the front camera if you look from the top of the phone to the bottom of the camera. There I see light from the screen. It's not a problem for me, but have you guys this too? The question about water resistant is interesting in this case.
hope it's jus paint that is missing. That's fine with me. If it's not glued down right I'm gonna have to go exchange it. I'm gonna have to check it out more and see what it is.
I'm seeing something similar with my unit...but I think this is more of a light reflection off the interior of the case because of the space/void created by the two sensors in that area. I say that because the reflection occurs directly about the sensors and it moves around a bit as you change viewing angle. Am I crazy?
It is a reflection that gets passed on to the IR LED. Not a sensor.
Harmless, and seems to be on all units I looked at.

How bad is your bleed? I JUST noticed today that mine has bleeding on the right edge? But it seems to go all the way down the side? Mostly visible when there is something bright on the screen? There is also a little on the bottom left side of the screen..
So, can we say that the light bleed above the front camera is normal then? I have it too.
Since last week I was noticing bubble /color peeling off from inside near left top on my screen, I ignored in the beginning, I had tempered glass installed that's why I didn't notice much , but I removed tempered glass to see what happened and it seems weird. Attaching images please tell me if anyone can figure out why this happened and if I need to worry for display.
* it's from inside, not outside.
My screen started to peel off. Mine is below the home button and is getting worse i just dont have the time and money to replace the screen. But it sucks. See video below its the same as that.
