S2 G3 question - Samsung Gear S2

I am thinking of buying a S2 Classic G3, but cancelling the wearable tmobile plan after 1 month. Will the watch continue to work as a standalone gps device (my understanding is the 3g watch version has gps sensors) to track distance biked for instance (I suppose there is a tizen app) and use the speaker with my phone (BT connection) when I get calls (on the phone)? Can someone confirm? The reason I am considering buying the S2 is for the gps and speaker that the cheaper non s2 g3 does not have....thanks for your inputs!

Sorry meant to say use the speaker of the watch (not phone as above) with a BT connection to the phone after cancelling the tmobile plan....

Yes, the watch will work fine without 3g.

Kaiser as a bluetooth headset

I have 2 cell phone services - TMobile and AT&T (Tilt). I do not want to carry 2 cellphones but would want both active at the same time. One option would be to use GSM cell phone wrist watch for the T-Mobile service. Is there a way to receive call on the AT&T Tilt from the GSM cell phone wrist watch using bluetooth?
i.e I want to use my AT&T Tilt as a bluetooth headset for my T-Mobile service.
wouldnt it be easier just to forward all calls from one line to the other?
Do a search for dual-sim cards. That might be a solution...
Call forwarding would help, but I would end up wasting AT&T minutes as well.
And Dual-Sim solution allows only one SIM to be active at any given time.

Bluetooth range (and WIFI stability)

Hi, I make my comparisons versus my Gear 2 and just what seems reasonable.
With my Gear 2 I could be in another room in the house, a good 15 meters away and no issues, with the S2 (especially with the new function of vibrate on disconnect) it constantly drops when I move room even sometimes for no reason.
Also setup the WIFI option as a backup but again half the time it shows the WIFI signal as poor and I am sat right near the router, which is working 100% fine with everything else (i.e. mobile, laptops, tablets, tv.)
i get the same, bluetooth just disconnects , don't know why. also bluetooth music earphones cut out and range poor
I have exactly the same range problem on galaxy s6 edge plus with all bluetooth devices.
It's shocking , if Samsung don't fix these issues soon , will switch to fist android wear device with lte , there lucky the urbane 2nd got discontinued
A hard reset helped but still disappointing

Samsung gear s3 classic connectivity

Brand new to the Watch, this could be an issue with iPhone or maybe it doesn't support it, but I jut got the gear s3 early, just while waiting for my new s8 plus to arrive in couple weeks, I set it up with the limited iPhone, but I was having bad problems connecting to the internet, it worked if I turned Bluetooth off and on and used wifi only. But one question does this Watch not just connect to my phone and then use the phones data like my Apple Watch did?
Or is this just limited due to iOS ? Downloading watch faces just gets stuck and goals all the time too, can't wait for my new s8, not complaining just interested on connectivity I expected it would use the data on the phone via Bluetooth. Maybe I just set it up wrong

Bluetooth 5.0 is more weak than other phones.

I am currently having a weak connection when connecting bt devices. My Gear S2 disconnects when I walk into another room and bt speakers cut out when my hand is placed on back of the phone.
My Bluetooth range is as expected with my Gear S2.

What are the actual distances involved? Without numbers, it's hard to evaluate these statements.

I think my S2 has about 10ft more range now compared to when I was using it with my S6 plus. But using a Bluetooth speaker has been a lot worse. I can only go 5ft away from my speaker before it cuts in and out with phone in hand and 10ft when I lay my phone down.
I've found that my range is much greater than with my last phone(Moto X Pure) but it takes longer to connect to my car. I also noticed the S8 doesn't display artist and song info on my car which is kind of disappointing.
My gear S2 is disconnecting more often on my s8+ than on my S7 and iPhone, seems to disconnect at 10 feet. Still get good range with my Bluetooth speaker. My gear S2 got an update today that had Bluetooth connectivity as an issue, but I notice no improvement
My S8+ looses the BT connection with Gear S3 at half the range I had when using with S7 Edge.

Same here with s8 add gs3, also can't keep phone in back pocket while using LG tone bt headphones like I could with S7. Huge bummer please fix Samsung!

Not having any issues with BT, my Gear Fit 2 never loses connection anywhere in the house and my phone can be laying on the kitchen table and the car loses connection about 50' - 60' down the driveway.
OMG....
Android N doesn't support bluetooth 5 so it uses lower version. Also unless your other device is bluetooth 5, it will still be lower. It uses BT4 and range is what it should be.

Cancel Data Plan with LTE Gear S3 ?

I have been using my Gear S3, Frontier, LTE version on T-Mobile for close to a year. In looking back over my use, I have discovered that I really don't need the extra expense of the data plan. I always have my paired phone (Galaxy S9+) with me and have only used the watch for phone calls a couple of times. I used the Gear for phone calls a few times when I first got it, and that was to test the service. For real calls, I just use my phone. I DO use Samsung Pay with the watch fairly frequently.
I am considering dropping the cellular plan for the watch. I have turned off mobile data on the watch, and left Bluetooth and WiFi on. Of course, I still get notifications on the watch.
My question is will I lose anything other than phone calls and the remote connection to the watch having cancelled the data plan? Will Samsung Pay still work as long as my phone is within Bluetooth range when I make a purchase?
TIA
The only thing I've lost is the call making ability. Samsung pay still works, even when my phone's in the car. Haven't tested out remote connectivity, but I'm assuming if it's connected to WiFi, you're good
