[2 deep breaths]...
Okay, I have searched it but there was no answer corresponding to Atrix 2.
A call is coming and I want to silence it. I will not cut it because I dont want caller to know that I deliberately cut his call. In E71 there if I press right menu button, i can silence all calls (which stops vibration + ringtone in between). How do I do it for Atrix 2? This is not for all callers, I should be able to decide whose call I want to silent at that particular moment.
I dont want temporary/workarounds like keep it in silent mode/press volume button all the way downwards, etc. Thanks.
Press power button. Silences the call and locks the screen with out hanging up.

Just Press the volume up button once when you are getting a incoming call it will silence the ringer.

I am thinking of simple things first, make sure that you are not on maximum battery saver mode. Go to settings --> battery and data manager --> battery mode --> select the performance mode..
See if this solves the problem.. if it doesnt then let me know if you have installed any battery miser kind of apps.

Ok, will try that. Meanwhile, other issues:
1) I downloaded the facebook app. But it never logs in. It keeps on saying "loading". Similarly, when I try to sync social networking app/widget, youtube doesnt sync. It says "youtube sync failure". Why is that?
2) I recieve an SMS containing a mobile number. In E71, I could select the number and save it to a contact. This is not possible in Atrix 2. When I recieve an SMS containing a mobile number, there is no option to save it. This is the basic requirement of an SMS. Any ideas?

Pattern lock?
Is there a pattern lock feature for A2 like in case of galaxy s2 and iphone? If yes, how to enable it? All I have is number/passcode lock feature. In IPhone, the passcode is 4 digits and after that we dont have to press enter key, but in A2, i have to enter passcode and then press enter key (which is too much of extra pain).
Settings --> location & security --> setup lock screen --> pattern
Just dig into settings you will find everything you want.

Pattern option is "disabled by device administrator".
I see what is happening here. Since I had setup my phone to use my office email, i have having such problems like screen automatically shutting down and inability to use pattern lock !!
Thats my best guess.

yes, that is because you are now forced into a corporate security policy. No way around that unless you stop using your office exchange account on your device. an easier way is to forward your mail to gmail, and setup a way to do this over https. This is all on the gmail site, so don't ask how to do it in here.

So I installed a new sandisk 16gb card microSD card yesterday (after formatting it first in PC, then in phone) and put some songs in it. More problems started:
1) Randomly, the phone says "no sim card". I have to restart the phone to get my sim card working. This is frustrating.
2) When I woek up in morning, the phone was dead. Something drained the battery to 0%. Why?
3) The notification was automatically set to some random song. Why?
Have you tried taking out the memory card.. see if it solves your problem.. though few things are strange in your case, but take out your new memory card out.. and pls dont ask why because there are already ample threads on "class 10 memory cards not working with A2"

I just received the upgrade to Lollipop last night on my At&t Edge. So far it seems ok for the most part but I found the following issues:
1. UCCW Widgets are disproportionate. They appear to have expanded and now go beyond the borders of the widget. Also the font has changed and is not fixable.
2. I have the LED notification turned off in settings, however it continues to blink blue when new notifications arrive... NOT playing nice with my OCD!!! How can I ensure this stays off???
3. Most annoying- I cannot change the ringtone or notification sounds. When I go to settings>device>sound and notifications>ringtones it brings me to the following path:
/storage/emulated/0/media/audio/notifications. Problem is I have nothing saved in that location and I cannot navigate to where any ringtones are stored.
Any help on how to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated- AT&T firefly is NOT the sound I want coming from my phone!!
UPDATE:
I was able to use ES File Explorer to navigate into my Systems folder and find the ringtones and notifications. I then copies them to the emulated/0/media folder and I can now change the tone. that is annoying, but a work around solution!
Still need to have the stupid LED light turn off!!!

I don't have any direct solution, but since the Note Edge just received the update last night I would suggest seeing if any Note 4 users had the same issue as you. I know a LOT of them are expriencing wild bugs. Unfortunately, it led a lot of people to doing a factory reset, which for many worked and for some it didn't.
In truth, it's not a bad idea to plan for a factory reset when a major Android version is rolled out. So just a thought. Hope someone has a solution for you, or else we'll see Android 5.1 on our device in the next 12 months!
I just got the lollipop update as well. Did a factory reset after backing everything up because I've seen too many people with problems not doing a factory reset. Everything works perfect though for me haven't had any issues so far.

same here. no issues found. just wish they hadn't messed with the way lollipop does the sound. I prefer lollipops priority notifications over Samsung. I see why they did it though. some people can't bother to understand the new system and just want silent, vibrate and ring modes
Just noticed that. What's the difference between the previous silent mode and mute?

All I did was let it boot up the first time, dealt with a few ANR's, and wiped cache from stock recovery. After Google Play Services finally updated, I haven't had a single issue since. I have to say, other than the odd choice of lots of white since we have AMOLED, I am enjoying this update so far :good:
Backed up the phone through Kies and did a factory reset. then restored through Kies. This fixed the ringtone issue. LED still blinks despite being turned off in settings. I am currently going through all my apps to see if one is overriding.
Only other thing I found is the "Briefings" panel is no longer accepting my weather settings and continuously prompts me to "tap to add weather info".
So far I am liking the update and will work through the issues I find! a few odd choices of color, though!
Was finally able to resolve the weather issue on my briefings panel. I had to open the Samsung weather widget and set it to my current location. Once I did that the panel connected and displayed the correct temp.

Are you sure you don't have another app controlling this? Check your defaults. Also, /storage/emulated/0/media/audio/notifications is where user notification sounds should go. Ringtones should be in /storage/emulated/0/media/audio/ringtones for user and /system/media/audio/ringtones for system.

Thanks. This was resolved after a factory reset.
I can't change the native text message incoming sound on my new A9
Dedinity not using a 3rd party app. Definitely have no other one on my phone. The only thing I have is Nova, which I am not using. Still on Sense.
Im in the app and goto notifications and then under "Incoming Sound" I select a different one, hit apply, then nothing happens.
Thanks
So Much
Try from the Themes app
So can't I. Believe it is a bug. Know anyway to report to HTC?
Another bug is that if you use set default in app management menu, you'll have no way to clear the default(allow app picker upon action), unless you install another can do browsing, messaging or calling.

I'm confused what app you are using? My default text messages app doesn't say "Incoming Sound" as a setting. It just says "Notification sound" and I can change it without issue.

Can you tell me after you pick the tone from the settings of the message app, will the text still be "Default ringtone(Dahlia)"?

Nope. It changes to what I select (note, I set my default to Lotus).
Sorry for not making it clear. I can chamge to whichever preloaded tone as well. Bit it seemed impossible to use any custom tone I pit in notification folder under my storage.
Go to your "Settings" -> "Apps" -> select "All Apps" on the top; scroll down and select "Messages". Select "Permissions" and allow "Storage" to be turned on as part of the Apps Permissions. Go back to your message settings, and select the "Notification sound" you'd like. After messing around for an hour I found that this worked for me; hopefully it'll work for you as well.

Good find. I've noticed that permissions are a lot more granular with Marshmallow than with Lollipop it seems
Thanks all. Especially CJ926
How did you even know this. I (novice) even switched back from the combined storage to separate storage. Apparently it had nothing to do with that. And I have a lot of my own tones and it also had nothing to do with that.
Really how did you know.
and Jolly, what in this case do you mean by granular?
(I do get 2 text messages to myself when I text myself (I know, a crazy way, but my preferred quick way to note myself. Not just here but in the interim while using the Zmax. Any clues CJ orJolly)
II am getting used to the phone. Like it. Not loving it yet. The hiccups in speed are np. For me it is the size. Hard to go from a bigger phone, Note 5 to this. Typing. I guess it just takes time. Afterall I was once using a phone this size. And iPhone users have for years.

Saved my day! Thanks a lot.
Love the phone. But it is gonna take getting used to from a Note to this size wise
For eric0668, sorry for the late reply as I was at work till very late last night. I guess I was just lucky to notice the option, after messing with A9 for an hour upon getting it. Marshmallow does contain lots of smaller details when it comes to 'App Permissions' (possibly what Jolly meant by 'granular'), which is very nice for customization purposes.
I'm not sure if you've already figured it out eric0668, but you'd have to do something similar like what I mentioned, if you'd like to customize incoming ringtone for individual contacts under your "Phonebook." Go to your "Settings" -> "Apps", then select the three vertical dots on your top right portion of the screen, and you should see a "Configure apps" option. Select it and then select the "App permissions" option. Scroll down to "Storage", select it and then scroll down to "People" and turn the option on. This way you wouldn't be stuck on the "default" ringtone for your individual contacts.
There's plenty of customization options under App permissions, so I hope this will also help you out.
I've noticed with the A9 if an app doesn't work properly then so far it's always been related to the permissions as stated above. After reading this thread I FINALLY got my notification tone for messaging to work. I've always used a particular tone from Zedge. Last night at a grocery store I used (tried to use) my store app to scan my shopper club card. It forced close as soon as I signed in! Later at night I read a thread somewhere online and went to Settings>Apps>Wegmans>Permissions and turned them on. BAM, the app works fine!
Other than this minor quirk, the only things I don't like about the phone are 1) It's so new I had a hell of a time finding a case. I settled for a $6 cheapo online with $15 next day shipping. 2) Without a case the phone is like holding a stick of butter! 3) I seriously miss the front dual speakers on all the "One" models. The only thing keeping me from returning this phone for an M9 is the fingerprint scanner! The M9 would be free for my upgrade, this A9 cost me $150 to upgrade. ?
I feel pretty foolish for not being able to figure this out, but I've exhausted my store of ideas.
I can't change the sound for alarms, ringtones, or notifications. I have been fighting with this all day today, and went so far as doing a factory reset, which was a massive pain. The grand finale is that I STILL can't change it.
Any time I click the sound option in alarms, I can navigate through the files on my phone and "click" an mp3. This brings me back to the alarm options page as if it were a success, but "morning flower" is still the sound it displays and I'm assuming it's the name of the sound I hear when the alarm sounds (it's an annoying jingle).
What is worse, my ringtone is now a horrific beeping and any time I try changing it I have exactly the same end result: the song selection seems like it worked, but the ringtone is called "beep once" and sure enough it just beeps (but not only once). With notifications when I select a song the name is "default notification sound (media)," but the phone only vibrates (and yes I did make sure the sound was up).
I feel like I'm 95 and have picked up a smart phone for the first time ever, because I'm utterly baffled and no matter what I do the thing seems to be ignoring and defying me on this issue. In short, wtf?
I've only noticed these kinds of problems since I bought an o2 prepaid sim for my trip to Germany, which I had to fight against Verizon's bloatware and such in order to use. I've been using package disabler pro to kill VZW's slimy influence; is it possible that one of those apps controls media access somehow? Also, could Amaze file manager be somehow incompatible with the settings? I'm really frustrated and I'm not able to find a satisfying ad-free app that can take care of this stuff without being thwarted. What should I do here?
facepalm
Now I feel even stupider for going through all that, giving up, and coming here to post this rant. For any who ever come across this post, be sure to clear defaults for your file manager and then come back to the alarm sound selection and click "media storage" when it asks which app you want to use. Then you can click "add sound" and use your file manager through that interface to select the song. Don't get mad, get to the "clear defaults."

Did indeed. I learned how to mess about with Android and rooting with 4.4 and under but my Note 5 isn't rootable and so I don't play with it as much. I guess my skills are slipping, or perhaps they were never that great to begin with. That old galaxy Nexus was sure faithful and fun though.
Hi all.
Just got the X2 pro and this is my first Oppo phone.
Really enjoying it, have finished setting it up, but... One thing is annoying.
I have copied across some notification tones and I am using Textra as my message app. When I try and select my notification tone, it only shows the oppo tones and doesn't allow me to select from 'another folder' on the phone...
Is there something I can do to add a folder or copy the tones to another folder? I have tried to copy them into the internal storage's 'Notifications' folder but they still don't show up.
Short of rooting the phone to put the files into the hidden/inaccessible media folder, is there anything I'm doing wrong which I have overlooked?
Any help appreciated and thank you in advance.
Assuming EU version of phone? For me, to get different ringtones/message tones... need to go to that particular apps info (long press on icon and choose info, or from the phone settings. Not from the actual app settings) then under Manage notifications click on the specific notification (probably something like default conversation notifications as its SMS). You can turn notifications on or off with the slider, but clicking on it will give you more options. Once in that, look for Ringtone and under Custom should see 'Select from files'.
Might be teaching you to suck eggs, but thats where it is on my phone (CPH2025)
