6.0 MM Update - Pros & Cons - T-Mobile LG V10 General

Wanted to make a place where we could compare different Pros & Cons that users are experiencing with the 6.0 update finally coming to the V10.
Pros:
• Fingerprint Scanner working very fast with/without case on
• Phone seems a little snappier (could be placebo)
• Android pay seemed to work quicker
• "Silent Mode" option added to 2nd screen when main display is off
Cons:
• Battery seems to be draining slightly quicker than LP
• Currently unable to root
• Some users having FP scan issues
• Not all FP apps are showing the FP security option
• Bloatware added back in

How do you root it?

The internal battery management has been reset and needs to re-calibrate.
The same thing happened on my G4 after updating.
It's tied to 'Doze'.
Give it a week or so ... :good:

The update via LG Bridge seems to have relocked my bootloader.

Its a pity i am at work, Any visual improvements / Enhancements, or any improvements in the second screen notifications / functionality or they just got MM out of the door ?

Does the update wipe your phone data?

Im not seeing anything visually that really jumps out at me, especially because im still using the stock LG launcher. Im not seeing any big changes to the 2nd screen. Im at work and trying to play around with it at the same time so im still figuring out all of the new functions.

Seems pretty much the same. I hate that in mm, the sdcard icon stays in the notification bar until you swipe it away. Fingerprint is way faster though.

Is my Nexus 5 defective?!?

Hi just got my nexus 5 and been trying to run benchmarks on it... In antutu they say the CPU is poor and in 3d mark physics test is very low... I know about the thermal throttle but really how severe is it?!? Also how to enable quickboot in cm11?!? Also some custom kernel supports quickboot???

You're labeling your phone defective because of a benchmark score?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
If I'm analyzing the information you provided correctly, I'd say it's definitely defective. I recommend selling it on swappa and purchasing an iPhone.!.!???.!.!.!
No it is not defective.
If you go to the development sections and read the opening posts on the kernel threads....they usually list the features.
Research and reading are the XDA way!
Clearly read instructions before flashing anything of course.
---------- Post added at 12:20 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:19 AM ----------
And no, i don't know which, if any have such a feature. My N5 boots in about 20 seconds....that's quick enough for me.
I don't think your N5 is defective at all.
It is not the phone that is defective
Guys also my phone generated the 2nd bug report without me doing anything... Once before too it did it by itself... Also when I used my phone while it was charging... The screen went haywire but after a reboot it worked fine... I'm on stock rooted and xposed... Since Google now works on any screen now and also when screen is off and charging... Is it possible to make an app that will make gnow think the phone is charging even when its not and then we'll get touch less control too...

Yes, but no one has been able to access it....like for double tap to wake that a lot of kernels have now. So dt2w and "always listening" are running off normal cores and keeping the phone awake....and costing pretty big battery loss.
The N5 has a pedometer on that core, where the X has active display and I believe always listening. No one has gained access to the low voltage core on either device. Its probably not doable without major code changes.

I am a believe when I can do it too guy.
He'll be a hero if he can do it for everyone to benefit. Especially in the N5's case.
Can anyone suggest some good mods for me... I'd prefer non flashable since I always boot the twrp image and then do whatever is necessary and then relock the boot loader after resetting the flash counter... So I run stock recovery as I just wanna be sure that my phone in case of a service center visit I get to keep my warranty... Also is there some kind of flash tool??? As in complete wipe and reflash ... As in even when boot loader is deleted???

Did you recently modify anything else besides what you listed? Mine is fine. Get greenify and see how many apps are open in the background that could be slowing you down.
Run a different launcher could help. Also set your scaling to .5 or off under developer options.
Other than that your G3 will probably never be as snappy as your m8 was
try this, it helped me

Have you tried the secret menu? Dialpad 3845#*850#, scroll down to Thermal Daemon Mitigation OFF, click and it goes from false to true, automatically keeps your phone from throttling at a low clock speed, makes everything snappier. I don't know why LG thinks they have to throttle these phones.

I turn my data off at home because I'm on a 4g fringe area, no need in wasting battery mindlessly, plus I just switch to my tablet when I hit the door. At any rate my UI isn't sluggish when I pick up my phone and my battery life is just fine. Promoting a phone as having a 2.5ghz processor and throttling it to run much slower just to save some battery is dumb.

I'm perfectly happy with my battery life, just because I posted a pic and somebody got their jimmies rustled is no reason to derail this thread, it's about the sluggish UI. I'm not going to go messing around with the build prop when I can just toggle my data off and use WiFi when I feel like it.

Verizon replaced my phone due to issues with 5.0

I had so many issues with the upgrade from alarm clock not working, phone getting hot to missed calls due to phone going straight to voicemail that when I called Verizon they decided to replace the phone. I asked for one with the KIt Kat OS and got one today. Phone working like a champ again. Yes, I did the cache clearing and did factory reset twice. My phone just didn't like the Lollipop. Anyway, it's an option for those that are having issues.

Id take the update again. Surely the same issues aren't present in your new phone
I didn't have any glitches with my phone, but I didn't like how Lollipop handled the notifications in Silent mode (no notification light.) So I ODINed back to KitKat. That, and if I understand directly, Lollipop runs in ARTS, meaning no XPOSED when rooted, meaning to Root Cloak (which I need for the Softcard app.)
The official Lollipop is not for me, but I'll keep an eye out if a talented developer can "fix" these issues in a custom ROM.
Not sure and not willing to take the chance. I was missing too many calls before. Yeah, I could have used Odin and gone back but I took the easy way out. Frankly, my days of messing with the phones are over. Did the whole BB and the earlier Android rooting on Evos and other phones but I'm getting tired of doing that. I was a flashaholic for a long time trying different OS's all the time. The S4 was my last playtoy.

I've found my battery life to be dramatically high now that I'm on LL. I may go back to KK as well unless someone knows of a way to correct the high battery use
I've also been experiencing some issues with the Lollipop update.
•high battery drain;
•phone sitting on table w/screen off, picked it up to find it overheating and was failing to cool itself down; had to pull the battery;
I went back to the old phone and I'm trying to make it work. Did more factory resets and it seems like the phone is actually ringing and allowing me to answer calls now and I'm getting notifications again. Maybe the 4 or 5 resets finally took hold. The replacement phone was bugging the hell out of my trying to force me to download 5.0 every time I used it. Going tp play with it a few more days before I return one of the phones to Verizon. Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated.......

Cool, that will help greatly. Maybe an XPosed module will also help with the notifications too (my issue is the LED in silent mode not working, but I think I've seen others having problems with no alarms or anything in silent mode either. Not sure, never tested that before going back to KK.)

Gave it a go yesterday, thing is legit and works pretty well too.
I haven't noticed any battery drain to be honest, if there was any, it was so dang minimal that I didn't notice it.
Great app, a shame that the wake function no longer works though...

What is stopping you from just running the previous version if you like that feature? Google easyHome for Samsung 1.10 if you need a copy. I use fingerprint lock so that feature doesn't work for me.

Previous version, how?
//Never mind, found it thanks!
Really missed the feature....
I think it's great
The most recent update has made a great app even better. It seems faster and even more accurate now.
Great app but android keeps disabling it. Very frustrating!

What about the heart rate sensor? Can that be used for different functions ?

Samsungs poor app optimization!

After about a year of changing settings, factory resetting this device, clearing cache.... I started to do my own research and doing my own tinkering with the device. I found that samsungs app optimization disables features in apps in order to consume battery consumption, but the truth is, it actually does the exact thing that makes your phone slow down or be sluggish when opening and closing/ restarting apps. I've been an android fan boy for quite some time and we all learn to realise that these are high powered devices that are being somewhat crippled by the makers "Samsung" being the worst.... but to make a long story short disable all app optimization and you'll see how wonderful this device is in its natural state...

Go to your settings, click on battery, at the top right theres a more button click on it. It will say app optimization etc... once in it will show only ones that's disabled just click on the tab to show all

My phone took too much of a hit in the battery department so I reverted back.

I have recently downloaded Package Disabler Pro and have disabled a lot of stuff I dont use. Day 1 seems to be noticeably less battery drain. Good start. Thread below has some details on stuff safe to disable. I have also turned app optimization off on some of my most used apps to see if there is any effect.
