Hi everyone. I always flash new ROMS when they are released, for my Omnia 7
1. May I ask what method you use to backup,(fastest and not App Backup tools which backups everything which is a tedious process)
2. Can a developer develop a tool please!(or hopefully it exists already), which can extract the list of all your apps in your phone including sideloaded ones, so that I can redownload them by going through the list of the apps that I previously had before flashing another ROM.
(for your info, how I plan to back the phone: Extract the app details (GUID and NAME) to .xml or .txt file for reference (in the FORMAT: Name:WhatsApp GUID:218a0ebb-1585-4c7e-a9ec-054cf4569a79) (NOT THE DATA BACKUP. JUST THE NAME OF THE APP AND THE GUID OR APP ID FOR SEARCHING AND RESTORING)
Then I will backup all app data with WPV app backup or Windows phone device manager >>> flash rom>>>> Look at extracted list above(hopefully with a software that exists already to extract in that format) >>>>>>>> Install apps manually once again from market or sideload >>>>> Lastly, restore the app data manually.
Please help! Thanks all!
I have recently switched to a new Custom ROM and in the process of doing it have lost the whatsapp DB folder and hence i cannot restore my old messages from whatsapp. Unfortunately i did not make a backup of the folders, have tried few of the data recovery folders but they were only able to restore images and docs but not the db file.
Could someone let me know if there is anyway we could recover the Whatsapp DB folder after it has been deleted.
Currently using
ROM: cyanogenMod 10.1
I am making a rom and I am stumped on were the android files on compaired to lolipop. How would I go finding, extracting and editing them? Google and xda search showed no solution.
I found a solution after diging a lot more

Google changed the system folder in the system.new.dat file.
Hi, anybody have the Huawei FILES apk to download?

Hi all!
We recently bought a new Smartphone for my GF - S10+. Accidently we forgot to save WhatsApp in the Settings so usually it would just sync after logging in on new phone.. the old phone is sold and we realized WhatsApp is gone. Fortunatly we did a FULL BACKUP with HiSuite on my pc before… I have already tried to look into that backup for WhatsApp but all I see is the APK and a huge TAR-file that I cannot open with 7-zip or anything.
My Question to the Pros here: is it somehow possible to restore all those damn Chats with *just* the HiSuite local backup or open that stupid TAR-file with all those files for the app??
Thank you all in Advance!
KR Niko
Does the utility HiSuite have a restore feature?
If yes, restore from your full backup, and then try to extract the db files for your WhatsApp Messenger.
the problem is, that you need a HUAWEI phone to "connect" and "browse" that backup..
HiSuite extracted the whatsapp files and packed it with TAR - but I can't open those with usual programs that handle TAR.
Any ideas??
if there would be a way of faking an existing huawei phone connection to my pc it would be awesome. this would help me to browse the full backup and extract the files I need.

As I know, 7-Zip is free software with open source and you can use 7-Zip on a Windows PC to unpack your .tar file.
Good luck to you.

Not possible with common unpacking programs. I am asking if anyone knows what file format HiSuite is hiding behind TAR. They are clearly NOT USUAL TSR FILES. You can’t unpack them with common un-tar-programs... I have tried 7z winzip winrar and also Cygwin64 „tar“-command in commandline.
Is there really not a single one here who has deeper knowledge about HUAWEI HiSuite and their backup technologie or what format they hiding behind those TARs??

Why not to contact Huawei via hotline, email or service center for your question about backup by HiSuite?
