Will this phone work in T-mobile USA(California)?
If I get it from amazon will it be on 5.1 and can it be rooted?
Sony Xperia Z5 E6653
thanks
I bought mine (International version, which is the Taiwanese version in my case), I have T-Mobile and I live in Seattle.
It works fine with T-Mobile.
Yes, it can be rooted. Check those guides on this board.
I have mine updated to Android 6.0 immediately after receiving my Z5 a month ago. Don't feel the need to root at all with the now available selective permission setting from Android 6.0.
The only reason I will be rooting this phone would be to install Titanium Backup to restore app data from my old phone.
But I won't be rooting it until a year later after the factory warranty expired.

I finally returned my Nexus 6, because of the weight and big screen, I decided to go with Z3 because of its good looking.
But after reading the whole forum, I realize that I cannot root it, GOD!!!!!!!
Can someone tell me that our Developers are working on it?
I really don't want to return my phone again.

Of course they are, when it will be available, anyones guess
Umm it's been rootable for awhile.
Really? For tmobile version? Any link to how to root it? Thanks.
not currently rootable
here we go
the "helpful" side of XDA
here's your answer :
the z3 IS rootable, but only if you unlock the bootloader. there are potentially some issues with this - DRM keys, low light camera not as good.
you can't do a TA backup as you need to be rooted to do so.
The Z3 is NOT rootable currently, if you want to keep your bootloader locked.
hope that helps more than "yes/no" above

See subject line. "T-Mobile Z3 (D6616)". All of the T-mobile Z3's are "Bootloader unlockable = no". Not rootable currently.
The tmobile version can't be unlocked as of yet. I made the jump thinking it could be but over all even with out root this is a beast how many phone can be themed with out root i know this one does.

No, and we only lose those features if boot loader is unlocked not by rooting. But the T-Mobile variant has a locked boot loader so there is no way of losing the DRM features.

If theming is your thing, check out the Apex launcher. Works fine on my D6616 from T-Mobile.
any update to this? I just want root on my D6616. 4.4 rooted is fine with me. It's such a hassle finding details for T-mobile variant in this forum!

Do you have any suggestions, or are you just going to complain?

Well i mentioned earlier too in Z1 forums, that T-mobile variants should get another sub-forum for android development, as its locked and mostly all ftfs that are applicable for the non T-mobile versions can't easily be used for the T-mobile variant. I wasn't complaining, i was merely stating my experience looking for Z3 T-mobile variant files, resources etc in a forum where mostly everything can't be applied to this version, sadly.
Hi Guys,
I am new to this forum. Recently I rooted my Sony Xperia Z3 D6653 model by downgrading it to .93 and then upgrade it back to .77 via flashing pre-installed Zip file which I created using PRFcreator. However after rooted, I realised my phone lost all my In-App purchase function. I could not buy In-app purchase anymore. Some app stated I do not have the Billing setup completed while some app stated I need to update to the latest Google Play Store. However, I am currently on the lastest Google Play Store Version. Is there any solution to this please? Thanks a lot in advance!
Rgds,
I'm in your shoes too!!!
I just recently had a friend root my Nexus 9 and the same has happened I also want to know why and how we can fix this...
Bump
in the apps, they are an option to restore purchase.
have you tested?
Just bought a z3 but need some advice.
I bought the phone and it was originally on vodaphone but was unlocked via one of those phone repair shops. (im not on vodaphone)
Now here comes what the issue is. I dont like the stock voda apps and the fact they control upedates its still on 5.0.2 build: 23.1.a.1.28 for reference.
Now what is the generic uk ftf file I need to flash?
Will I lose drm keys if I flash a new ftf?
will the phone return to vodaphone only? (I am sure it Shouldn't but maybe someone knows otherwise?)
Also should i go to 5 than 5.1 or straight to 5.1 ftf?
Thanks for any help been awhile since I have installed any custom roms ir even rooted a phone really. Been running the xperia z stock for 6 months
Dw took the dive and went off what I used to know with some educated guessing and all is good

Hello
I just received my V10, bought from swappa, and it has 5.1.1 on it. I see that there is no way to root MM, so we have to decide on LP rooted or MM unrooted, right?
If I want to root LP, can you point me to the thread? Also, I shouldn't accept the MM update once I activate the phone, right?

It all depends on what you desire. Some people (like me) can't live without root. Rooting unlocks the full potential and possibilities for the device. Sticking with LP rooted seems like a better choice to me. Also I've seen some people complaining about the battery life on MM as compared to LP.
Here's the link for root:

Thank you affangta. Of course i want root. Who doesn't? My question was more technical than theoretical, like your answer.
My phone forced the upgrade to MM, and thus I'm now stuck like many others; i had no way of stopping the software upgrade right after I activated the phone.
Oh well

Unfortunately, when I bought the phone MM update was already installed in it. Hence, I'm in the same situation as you. What I wouldn't give to go back to LP and root the device
Hey all! Good news! A 9-year-old bug called the "Dirty Cow" exploit still exists in the Linux/Android kernel can easily grant root on any Android phone!!! See the video below.
http://www.xda-developers.com/9-year...on-of-android/
So there's another bug to exploit for root and even possibly unlocking the bootloader! The bug has been fixed recently in Linux but hasn't been rolled into Android yet. If anyone can get this working on my AT&T LG V10 (running Marshmallow) I'll give a reward of $50! Plus you'll be my hero! Now get crackin!

Get the Taiwanese model, it's first to get updates. Other models don't seem to catch up quickly( I have yet to receive the latest software update and i am on the Hong Kong model). You need to know that you can't flash other stock roms from other regions and if you root you lose warranty. If you care for software updates then this phone isn't for you. The U11+ is great from a hardware perspective but in terms of frequent software updates it scores a "D-".
Unlocking the bootloader and rooting is easy for this device but it's difficult to find stock roms especially old versions, also there is no custom rom development for this device and i doubt there will ever be.
One final note: Check the display for light bleeding since it's a second hand unit!
In short, don't buy it.
It's a great phone if you plan to stay stock, but not for rooting and ROMs. There's no S-off, and the developer community is pretty much just one guy/gal.

That means less updates and less delopment in roms
But can I at-least root this device (all models)? and stay with stock
also tell me does xposed work in this phone( i searched but did not find xposed in development, not a single result )
You're better off with a different model if you want to have root and run ROMs.
You can root the phone, but it prevents update installation.
